I work from home. I don’t understand why someone includes sunscreen in their morning skin care routine, when they are not leaving the house. Especially when it only lasts two hours? 9 months ago I started my journey to get healthy and in shape. I figured I should start a skincare routine (In my 37 years the only thing I've ever put on my face was shower gel) for anti aging and to try to avoid the look that many people get after losing a lot of weight. EDIT: incorporated some tips here There are a lot of people commenting negatively on my circle contact lens. Some out of genuine concern, and some, well... it's the Internet. I want to share that I think we need to respect that not everyone feels the same way about this kind of look. That's okay. When I see people in circle lenses, I think they look cool and beguiling and I like it. But some people see that and it's off-putting or even frightening. I believe that is real for you, and it probably is incomprehensible why someone would choose to look scary. But... It's not like that for everyone lol and it's certainly not like that for me. Hi everyone, Im after some recommendations for good general everyday facial sunscreen that wont break the bank. For reference, if Im going to be outside proper I use LRP antihelios 50+ on my face or sometimes cancer council 50+ which is fine. This is more about general dya to day where Im either wfh or at the office so only need something when Im not intending to be out in the sun directly for a long period of time, or in and out. LRP is pretty expensive if I don't buy it on special so looking for something jsut as good but better on the wallet for higher frequency use. It can be 30+ or 50+ recommendations. grew out the fuckass haircut, lost body fat and, thus, face fat, “ate my skincare” (whole/single-ingredient foods), got lip filler, started regularly threading my eyebrows, just generally taking care of myself after always putting others first. i lowkey turned aesthetics into a special interest, and now i am reaping the benefits of an improved healthy lifestyle 🙂‍↕️ edit: thanks sm for the love 🥹 reddit is sm more welcoming than other social media apps. but anyway, editing this to address some common questions!! i got 1 syringe (1ml) of lip filler in february 2024. i have not at all topped it up since. i have had absolutely NO other work done; no other fillers, no surgeries, no botox, etc. i am not wearing makeup in either pic. i have my eyebrows threaded & eyelashes lifted in the after pic—i get those done once a month. this change alone helped me look put together even without makeup, so i highly recommend for my hair-abundant babes. single-ingredient/whole foods are minimally processed foods where the only “ingredient” is the thing itself (or a few ingredients). think sweet potatoes, eggs, chicken breast, steak, nuts/nut butters, avocado, olive oil, rice, sourdough, etc. this is not a “diet” to me anymore. once you eat primarily whole foods for a while, you completely overwrite your brain & gut chemistry to the point where you genuinely no longer crave highly processed stuff. my skincare routine besides eating clean is just cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. if i have a particularly bad hormonal breakout (usually around my cycle), i’ll use tretinoin to kill them over a couple days. submitted by /u/mamicholula to r/uglyduckling [link] [comments]

The miracle happened. We have European, affordable, wearable face sunscreens for only 3.99€ at Lidl (not 4.99€)!! I bought the Niacinamide one, texture is lovely! Update: I'm wearing it on my face right now, no eye sting for me, and I can't feel anything! It's not heavy, greasy or oily at all! It's a serum-like texture. Skin is not shiny, it's a natural finish. Doesn't leave my skin with a dry feeling. Seems like a good base under makeup. No pilling!! I'm wearing a few layer of toner and moisturiser under it. No fragrance, no chemical smell. It doesn't have a yellow tint, it doesn't stain clothes yellow. I have to re-do this because my story was incomplete after I posted it! Grrrr. I am 34F constantly on the hunt for my holy grail sunscreen. The problem??? Chemical sunscreens tend to break me out within the same day (like after I wash my face, I see the breakout). It’s not ALL chemical sunscreens, but for me, it’s most of them. 😭 Personally, mineral sunscreens do not break me out! However, I really like that chemical sunscreens get absorbed into my skin and can have some cool skincare benefits! Ugh. I have tried so many, sooooo many. This is some of my collection 🫠 For reference, I am pale. I tend to stay out of the sun. In my 20’s, I was a sun-bather. I was always glowing and tan. I got pregnant at 28 and continued to bask in the sun for an hour a day, unprotected. The result?? MELAMSA. Thank GOD one of my old high school friends informed me about Melasma and told me to wear my sunscreen. Unfortunately, it was too late and the damage was done. Yes, I have done multiple rounds of hydroquinone cream from my dermatologist/ compound pharmacy. Sadly, my melasma comes right back after a few short weeks of clear, even skin. My next step, and hopefully my FINAL step, will be laser treatments. I’m so sad and insecure about my spots. They are ALL over my face now, they seem to spread as time goes on. Fml. So naturally, I love me a tinted or lightly tinted sunscreen for my face. Right now, what I typically grab in the mornings is — Naturium “Dew Glow” Moisturizer with SPF 50 (chemical). I also really like TIZO “AM Replenish” Lightly Tinted SPF 40 (mineral), SkinBetter Science “SunBetter” Advanced Mineral Protection SPF 75 (damn this one is like FULL coverage tho.. and expensive as shit), and Supergoop “Protec(TINT)” with SPF 50 (hybrid, with zinc oxide, homosalate,and octisalate). I truly would love to read about some of your favorite sunscreens that you tend to reach for daily. I’m open to anything!!! Ideally I’d love a tinted sunscreen that does not burn my eyes (looking at you, Neutrogena), that isn’t ORANGE (looking at you La Roche, sorry I’m pale AF), and doesn’t break me out…. So I’ve been using the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum for a while now and honestly… I love it. It feels amazing on the skin, gives that nice hydrated glow, and layers perfectly under makeup. But recently I’ve seen people saying it might not actually have valid SPF protection?? I don’t totally get it? Here is a list of the sunscreens I have used so far, ranked from worst to best, along with prices (which might be inaccurate since it's been a while for some products, and I got some of it on a sale) and a brief review for each product. For context, my skin type is sensitive, combination, and acne-prone. I have active pimples and acne scars. Cetaphil Sun SPF 50+ Light Gel (₱800-900): 2/10 Despite its claims of being "lightweight," it didn’t feel lightweight at all. You can definitely feel it on your face. I also found it greasy, and it leaves a minimal white cast. Suncelle Sunscreen Facial Moisturizer SPF 40 (₱200-300?): 2/10 Given the price, I didn’t expect much. It felt greasy and oily, so I only used it on my arms. I bought it at a convenience store because I forgot to bring my usual sunscreen. Minimal white cast. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 50+ (₱600-700): 5/10 This could have been perfect if it didn’t sting my face. I feel like the formula is too strong for those with a sensitive or damaged skin barrier like mine. It lives up to its "dry-touch" and lightweight claims, but it dries so fast that it's hard to blend evenly. No white cast. Mediheal Tea Tree Moisture Sun Cream & Hyaluronate Moisture Sun Cream SPF 50+ (Free samples): 5/10 I’m combining my review for these sunscreens since they have almost the same formula. Both are lightweight with a watery texture that I usually like in a daily sunscreen. However, they gave me a stinging sensation, especially around my upper lip. It was so bad that I had to remove them. I almost bought this, but I didn't since I decided to try the free samples first. I only used these 2-3 times. SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Air-Fit Suncream Plus (₱400-500): 6/10 I bought this after being recommended to try a physical sunscreen for my skin type. It has a slight tint and creamy texture. While it claims to be lightweight and suited for sensitive skin, I still felt a bit of stinging. The formula isn’t greasy despite being a cream, but my skin becomes oily when I use this. It has an earthy smell, which some might not like. Minimal white cast. SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF 50+ (₱500-600): 5/10 I only inserted a picture of it above, I might have thrown out the container. I think this wasn’t just suitable for my skin type. I experienced the same stinging sensation around my upper lip and on active pimples. The watery formula leaves no white cast. Now, onto the sunscreens that worked for me: Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel SPF 50+ (₱600-800): 7/10 This is my newest sunscreen, and it has worked well for me so far. I’ve been using it for only a week, but I already know I’ll repurchase it. I love the watery gel formula—it’s lightweight, easy to apply, non-greasy, and doesn’t make my skin oily. No stinging or fragrance, and it leaves a dewy finish, which I prefer over a matte finish that accentuates dry patches. Rating it only a 7, since I have not really used this a lot to give a final verdict. Skintific 5X Ceramide Serum Sunscreen SPF 50+ (₱300-400): 8/10 Ceramides and hyaluronic acid always work well for my skin, and this product contains both. The formula is lightweight, slightly watery despite being a cream-type sunscreen, and it absorbs quickly. When I use this, I don’t need a separate moisturizer. However, it does make my skin a little oily, but I don’t mind because I love how it feels when I apply it on my skin. Fairy Skin Premium Brightening Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++ (₱250-350): 9/10 MY HOLY GRAIL AND FAVORITE SUNSCREEN EVER! It has everything I want: a watery-gel formula, no stinging, blendable, non-greasy, fast-absorbing, with a brightening and glass-skin effect. It’s also affordable. Even when I apply multiple layers, it doesn’t feel oily or greasy. While the ingredients suggest it’s a physical sunscreen, the texture is more like a chemical sunscreen. The only thing I’m unsure about is whether it’s truly tested for broad-spectrum protection. I also use a moisturizer with it, as it’s not as hydrating as Skintific, but I love how it feels on my skin. Now, I plan to rotate the sunscreens that worked for me so my skin won’t build tolerance. You can’t reapply lotion because it smudges, powders don’t give enough protection, sticks also smudge and remove makeup, sprays leave you oily and sticky plus you don’t know how much you spray and most sprays still need to be rubbed in?! With how important we know Sun protection to be, how has the makeup industry not kept up? Sure there is like 2 brands that have 5 products and no inclusivity that do sunscreen makeup, but even then the protection never reaches spf50 and costs like a million dollars.
