Im not a big social media guy anymore, honestly, the vast majority of my internet usage nowadays is Reddit, Youtube, Snapchat (that has like 20 people on it) and email and I think that about it. I put my FB to sleep about 10 years ago and I decided to log in and see what people were up to and ho-lee-shit, what a dumpster fire. So, first off, the majority of my facebook friends have either died, shut their FB down, or removed my inactive profile so my feed was pretty silent. After about a week of my profile being back in the algorithm I started getting friend request from people I used to work with, went to school with, or friends of old acquaintances (which is terrifying that facebook knows about random people I used to work with 12 years ago who I had a passing "hi, hows your day" relationship with) and I started getting friend requested and I was like "fuck it" and just started accepting them. Fuck man, whenever I see all the hate for this or that group and all the political bullshit that gets posted on reddit, I just brush it off as bots trained to sow dissent but the stuff that gets posted by real living, breathing human beings who I once knew well enough to be friends with or have polite conversation with is WILD. I mean, like so much hate and vitriol started coming across my feed about a wide array of subjects that it made me genuinely uncomfortable and I started removing people that just added me. Maybe it's what "normal" passes for on the internet and im pretty numb to a lot of the more unhinged opinions and shit-stirring because of so many years on Reddit, but a lot of what was being posted really opened my eyes that a lot of the "unhinged" stuff that I see online isnt just bot farms, its real people who truly believe this wild shit. For the most part I had a truly lovely Mother’s Day. Husband handled our toddler and I got to sleep in. He got me flowers and helped our daughter sign a card. It was just a nice day. Then during bedtime daughter started crying saying her ear hurt. Husband has to leave at 5 am for a business trip. Awesome. We give her Tylenol to keep her comfortable through the night and she thankfully falls asleep pretty quickly. While husband is packing for his trip I’m on hold with our pediatrician. Foolishly opened up Facebook messenger while I was waiting to find this message waiting for me in my inbox. “With great displeasure I unwish you the most unhappy bad mother's Day but I wish you all the most bitter tears for years to come that you and your heartless behavior did for the mother of your stupid husband. Karma is a bitch.” For context, we are estranged from my husband’s parents. His father is just…kinda a nightmare of a human being and Husband’s mother enables it because family. We have tried so hard over many years to improve things, set reasonable boundaries (like “hey maybe don’t call your son an idiot?”) and ultimately we just had to step away. I tried to mediate as much as I could but once my daughter came into the picture I realized protecting her was more important than my in-law’s comfort. Thought I had them blocked on everything but apparently not. I haven’t responded because there is nothing I can say that will make anything better for anyone. I’m just home with my two dogs (best boys) and a sick toddler and my husband is too far away and I’m just. Sad. About the whole situation. And angry. We have a nephew (my SIL’s son) who is 11 years old. As some background, I have known him since he was 3 and had already been diagnosed with autism. When we first met, he showed no signs of autism to me other than having delayed speech. It was clear he understood everything we were saying he just struggled to form words on his own. He was a very sweet and affectionate kid and I remember thinking when I met him that he did not strike me as autistic like my husband had told me he was but I never said anything because I know autism is a spectrum and not all cases present the same. Over the years my SIL has made some comments that have made me doubt the way he was diagnosed. She has claimed multiple times she had to fight his first pediatrician to test him for autism and had 2 different pediatricians test him and both said they did not believe he showed signs of autism and that he just had a speech delay. She found a third pediatrician who told her they believed he might be “slightly on the spectrum”. However, this isn’t what she tells people. She constantly posts on Facebook of the struggles of raising a kid with autism. Any bad behavior he exhibits is blamed on autism. Any issues in school is blamed on autism. They gave him an iPad when he was 4 and he’s been playing it ever since. They blame his iPad addiction on autism. It’s clearly turning him into a very spoiled acting kid and he gets away with everything. Finally after 8 years of not saying anything, I made a comment to my SIL the last time she blamed him playing 8 hours on his iPad on autism. I said I don’t think iPad addiction stems from autism and that lots of kids will get addicted if no boundaries are set. She took this as a full on attack of her parenting. Which I guess in hindsight I can understand why she would feel attacked. She said I had no right to judge her choices as a mother to an autistic child. I apologized immediately if I had hurt her but I still feel someone needed to say something. AITAH for speaking up? I feel I did it over an obvious misuse of an excuse but I may have overstepped here. I’m just yelling at the sky with this post, but I got myself worked up enough about the situation to write all this up. Oh well. Look, I think Stauf’s original post regarding serving ICE was tone-deaf, and I disagree with their approach. That being said, the extent to which this sub has gone on the offensive against a local coffee chain for saying something tone-deaf is fucking absurd. And then, you all took it even further!! The most recent post where they said they were going to confer with their employees and see what THEY wanted to do, and some of you all are STILL in the comments saying “fuck Stauf’s”. Ridiculous. How about we take some of that energy and put it towards the ACTUAL villains here, ICE. This puritanistic leftist bullshit is the type of thing that makes me embarrassed to be a leftist. Cook County's top judge made it illegal for ICE to detain anvone inside or even near a courthouse That includes the steps, sidewalks, parking lots, and entryways. If they try it anyway, they're violating a court order and that's contempt of court, which means deputies can step in and take them into custody. This comes after weeks of ICE agents staking out courthouses, waiting for people to show up for hearings and grabbing them on their way in or out. It got so bad that people were skipping court out of fear. Even domestic violence victims were being arrested while trying to get protection orders. Judge Timothy Evans said enough. I showed up at the most recent court date. I tried to have the sheriff serve her, paperwork returned as multiple failed attempts. I sent certified mail to her home, returned undeliverable. I sent certified mail to her business and someone (not her) signed for it, and that was then returned to the court as well. The judge said that I have to continue to attempt, and they cannot hear the case until she is served. My only allowed options for serving her are via sheriff or certified mail. So, I need help - how do I find her and get her served? The sheriff and post office left notes that they attempted to reach her so she knows I'm after her. I have the following information on her, because of everything she left in my house (which has since been returned): Full name, address at the time of events, her frequently-used username (from her cash app credit card), her social security number (her card was in her things), current and former drivers license, her past work places (business cards), and her now-expired car dealership seller license number (it's not searchable unfortunately). I've found her Facebook page (minimal public info), instagram (barely used), and reddit account (frequently used, but nothing on this subreddit). Based on what I have, it looks like she moved to another city 2.5 hours away, but in the same state. 'I thought they would stick to their word' | Mark Cuban reveals new details about the Mavs sale in Facebook comment section Mark Cuban responded to a Facebook post criticizing him and revealed more information on the Mavs sale. DALLAS — It's been nearly two months since Luka Doncic was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers. The fallout from that deal has put the loyalty of MFFLs to the test. Despite stating he had nothing to do with the trade, former Mavs owner Mark Cuban has received flack from fans. One such fan is Gavin Mulloy, the former event and venue manager of the Dallas Mavericks. On Friday, Mulloy posted to his personal Facebook, saying: "Cuban should be run out of Dallas." Mulloy's criticism of Cuban is just a drop in the ocean of ire pointed at those tied to the Mavs organization, but it certainly caught the former owner's eye. Cuban replied to the post and comments under the post several times. "I found it extremely interesting that someone would jump into my Facebook post on my personal page, who I'm not even friends with," Mulloy told WFAA. "I never in a million years thought Mark Cuban was gonna jump in a Facebook thread and start answering questions." Under that seven-word post, Cuban disclosed information about the sale of the Mavericks that was previously private. When Cuban bought the team in 2000, he paid $285 million. When he officially sold in 2024, he pocketed $3.5 billion. In the comments, Cuban said the Mavs weren't a moneymaker during his tenure. "I made money 2 out of 23 years I was the majority owner. Lost hundreds of millions of dollars," Cuban said. Cuban still owns a minority stake in the team. Had my 10 year reunion a few months ago. Despite having a 500+ graduating class and close to 200 people signing up on Facebook, only 4 people showed up. This includes myself, my brother, the organizer, and a friend of the organizer. I understand if you live too far but this was organized 6 months in advanced. Also the post from earlier this week really got me thinking. Do people think they are too good to go to their reunion? Did people have a bad high school experience and are just resentful? To be honest I didn’t expect much from my reunion. Even if it was just to say hi to people and take a group picture, but I was still disappointed.
