Nowadays AI is so hard to tell from bona fide footage. The unmoving grass and rocks in the battle scene and lack of persistent dust cloud tells me this scene is fake.

Bought a house late last year and inherited a garden half-full of fake grass. Very poorly laid, with obvious joins. Cheap half-arsed job. Anyway, we want to replace it with real grass. I’ve removed a strip and have found the following underneath in this order: Fake grass Approx 20mm of sharp sand Approx 50mm of compacted MOT Type1 Black cheap woven weed membrane Clay and sub soil How much of this needs removing? We don’t have any access to the garden except through the house, and it’s a lot of Type1 to deal with. I’d rather not have to shift barrow loads of that out and replace it all with soil I was thinking something along the lines of: Remove awful fake grass Break-up sand and Type1 Remove weed membrane Level off Add 3-4” of topsoil Add turf Feasible? Where I live (Eastern edge Swindon) used to be a Roman clay pit, so the soil under the membrane is mostly slow-draining clay. We’ve noticed a lot of water retention on top of the fake grass over winter. Hi Everyone, I am running on a rather short budget since I spend 6k getting this veranda, I was wondering what could go wrong if I just put some fake grass on the area marked in pic, I know ideally I should remove the tiles and level it and do it right way. But is there any major downside if I just lay some grass. Any inputs from people who are experienced in this sort of stuff are also welcome. I know everyone will agree with me on this sub so I can post this in a safe space. Thank you in advance for agreeing with me. Both lawns and fake grass are the biggest horticultural atrocity ever to grace the gardening world both are one of the most egregious, distasteful and horrifying things I have ever laid my eyes on and should be illegal. I think anyone who buys fake grass should be punished by 1000 hours community service of litter picking removing twice the ammount of plastic they have just put into the environment. These so called fake lawn companies (or as I like to call them unimaginative plastic merchants) should be punished with 2000 hours of community service cleaning plastic from rivers. In winter. Imagine calling yourself and gardening company then convincing people to put fake plants in the garden it's awful! Lawns require a lesser punishment. As dull and distasteful as they are at least they are alive. HOWEVER make no mistake this should still be a crime!!!! 500 hours of wild flower habitat management per 10msq of lawn in the garden. Moved into this property around 2 years ago. Haven’t touched the garden apart to trim back the plants a couple times a year. The grass is that artificial stuff and to be honest looks like a blind man layed it in a hurry (I reckon was quickly laid to get the house ready to sell) Anyway I am after ideas what I can plant that doesn’t require a great deal of maintenance as I don’t have green fingers! We have the planters as you can see that I am thinking to rip out what’s in them and plant something better. Although don’t mind the bush thing next to the fence on the right of the shed. The bush next to the apple tree I don’t really like as it flowers and the flowers last only a few weeks the rest of the time it looks dead! As for whatever that long wiry plant it. I’d like to get rid off as in the summer it seems to grow 6 feet in all directions overnight!!! It is very fast growing! Ideally I want something with a bit of colour that lasts a lot longer than a few weeks and am thinking of putting some pots out with plants in, what I don’t know! Moved in to a house with fake grass. We are going to take it out and put in real grass. Would appreciate tips from anyone who has done this before! Below the Astro is a membrane with a few stones here and there, then below that the soil seems okay (I’ve dug about 15cm down). (Photos 2 and 3.) Will I need to turn the soil below the fake grass? Can I do this with just a fork, not a machine? I am going to remove the sleepers and have a smooth transition (lawn edging) between the beds and the lawn so will get some topsoil down (1000L should level it). Will level it with rake and stamp it down with my feet. Any recommendations for a harder wearing grass (two active toddlers…)? Will be doing this myself. We live in an apartment with a 4.5 months old Shih tzu and currently use a real grass patch on the balcony. He goes potty on the morning walk as well as the patch on the balcony for the rest of the day. Recently the grass patch started to attract loads of flies, despite the effort of cleaning up immediately with enzyme cleaner. I think the flies are attracted to the grass - he goes quite frequently, maybe every 2h or less when he's awake. We initially decided to use real instead of fake grass as we read (1) its better for training (dogs naturally go on real grass and make it easier to transition to outside), (2) doesn't smell, and (3) there's no need to clean. However, with the swarm of flies I'm now thinking maybe fake grass is better. We get fresh grass every 2 weeks (subscription). If we need to change it every week, it's a bit too pricey. We prob need to clean the fake grass every day which is a bit of effort, but at least we can clean it.. with the real grass there's no way to clean. Just wondering if there's anyone who used both real and fake grass (or one of them) and had any problems like we had? Any views on pros/cons, cleaning tips, etc. would be appreciated!
