Posting this so others can avoid the same issue. I was buying tickets for Project Hail Mary on Fandango when the site appeared to glitch. I was kicked out before I saw any completed purchase confirmation, so I assumed the transaction did not go through. When I logged back in, my original seats were marked unavailable. Since the movie was selling out quickly, I assumed someone else had bought them while I was relogging in, so I purchased tickets for a different showing. Later, I found out Fandango had processed the original purchase too. The problem is I never received a confirmation email for that order. I checked inbox, spam, promotions, trash, everything. No confirmation. Because I didn’t know the first purchase went through, I didn’t know I had tickets to exchange or refund within their policy window. Fandango’s response: the order showed as completed in their system, so it was final, even if the confirmation email was delayed or never received. So, heads up: if Fandango glitches during checkout, check your account before buying again. They may hold you responsible even if you never saw confirmation and never got an email. I have regal unlimited since that’s the theater closest to where me and my husband live and we watch a lot of movies since there really isn’t much to do where we live. Fandango charged me $102.24 on May 21, 2026 for six tickets to see The Breadwinner movie on opening weekend at our local LOOK Cinemas in Brookhaven, GA. I purchased the tickets 9 days before the scheduled showing on Saturday, May 29, 2026. Right up until the showing, I was receiving communication from Fandango to "get ready for our experience". When our family arrived, we were surprised to learn that the movie wasn't playing at this theatre at all. It had been cancelled over a week earlier. I received no apologies nor reimbursement from the theatre as these tickets were purchased via Fandango. I did receive a printed receipt from the theatre manager that shows an "Unclaimed refund" of $89.10. I have no idea what this means nor is there any apparent method to "claim" this refund. I've reached out twice to Fandango requesting an apology for not even attempting to notify our family this show was cancelled at this theatre and for trying to refund only a portion of the entire amount that I spent. I believe they are attempting to retain the booking fees of ~$13. This was a huge embarrassment for me (the Dad) in front of my family (wife, 2 daughters) and our visiting relatives. We had planned a fun family outing that was completely ruined by Fandango's lack of communication /knowledge that the movie showing at been cancelled. I am even receiving follow-up emails from Fandango asking "how was the movie" - and asking me to rate it - what?! Fandango has now had my $121 for 10 days - how is this legal? With a lot of movies coming out this summer I am interested in picking up a movie club membership. Unfortunately my favorite theater is a cinemark which has the worst movie club (I have an AMC and Regal relatively close but those aren’t as nice). So the fandango summer pass caught my eye, seems like a good deal at $50 for basically 8 movie tickets over 4 months, plus a rental (or more likely buying $5 deals) from the at home promo code. I bought IMAX tickets through fandango and the theater cancelled the showing (got moved to non-IMAX). Fandango never emailed me to let me know so I drove 45 mins to a theater that wasn’t showing my movie. They refunded my card but kept their service fee!! I called them and they told me tough shit that’s our policy and they can’t refund me the service fee. What kind of scammy ass company does this??
