There was a new $20 minimum that was added to individual orders for grocery. But this limit doesn’t apply if you add to an existing delivery order. Once you place an actual delivery order (if you have one) - You have a 10 min timer to add another store. Choose that grocery with new $20 limit, (there’s no limit check here). Ordered DoorDash tonight for the family. Did a DoubleDash from Burger King and KFC, about $90 total. Driver messaged saying it was busy and there might be a delay. No issue, I get it. I responded and moved on. A little later, the order gets marked “hand delivered.” No knock. No doorbell. No food. So I message: “Where did you leave the food?” Driver replies: “At the address it was hand delivered enjoy.” Except there’s nothing there. Checked the porch, garage, around the house, even made sure it didn’t go to a neighbor. Nothing. Then out of nowhere: “F* YOU!!!”** (censored in the app, but you get the idea) So apparently the delivery model is: mark it complete, eat the evidence, and insult the customer. 25F living alone, I ordered about 2 hrs ago he delivers someone else’s order (I ordered ice cream and got boba tea) I threw the boba order out and reported it to DoorDash for a refund. He comes back to my place 40 mins later with my ice cream and tries to force himself my apartment for the boba order. Then proceeds to stay outside my apartment for 15 minutes banging on the door demanding the order back that I already threw out. Around 5pm, I accepted a $5 order for 7 miles because I was one order away from being platinum, and it actually ended up being a blessing in disguise. I was really hesitant about going through with it, but as soon as I accepted, I got a message saying “does it show a tip?”. After delivering over 1,000 orders, I thought it was one of those orders where they didn’t tip, but made it seem like I’d be getting one after I delivered, yet I was wrong. She then told me she gave me a $9.50 tip and sent proof with her order, but it actually ended up going to “staff tip.” After us messaging back and forth, I told her I’d be there soon and she’d talk with support in the meantime. Once I get there, we talk for a few minutes, she calls DoorDash, the store, and come to find out, no one knew where the $9.50 order was. My friend works at the place we ordered from and he also confirmed $0 was left for them in tips. The receipt also didn’t have any mention of a tip being left which was very confusing. DoorDash also couldn’t provide a clear explanation as to where the money went. After everything, we all expressed our frustration, but her and her husband ended up asking for my Zelle and sent me and extra $15 + the original $5 and it only took 30 min so it ended up being not too bad. These were all very clearly listed as 8 packs for the Gatorade and 24 packs for everything else (pineapple juice was supposed to be smaller cans but still 24 cans). The store gave me this. Support gave me a full refund but it sounds like part of that is from adjusting the tip to zero. I just discovered this sub and I knew this was the perfect place to say this. If you order food on DoorDash, DON'T TIP. And I say this as a delivery carrier (or Dasher as they call us ugh). You might ask, why is this guy asking us not to tip? Well, when we accept a delivery order on DoorDash, the information we get is: How long it will take us to fulfill the order How much Doordash guarantees we are gonna get paid. This is where the issue is. On their "guarantee system", they are counting tip + delivery fee, however, they don't tell you how much of each is contributing to the total. Here in the SF Bay Area, orders usually have a "guaranteed" pay of $7. If after fulfilling the order, the customer tips $5, doordash will say: Delivery fee: $2 Tip: $5 If after fulfilling the order, the customer doesn't tip, doordash will pay the following: Delivery fee: $7 Tip: $0 Therefore, tips are ONLY worth it to the driver if you tip more than $7, which is usually not the case. If you tip $7 or less, you're just tipping the company, not the driver. People fall for the "100% of your tip goes to the Dasher". And yes, it's true, 100% of the tip goes to us, but Doordash will reduce their payment. So please.... DO NOT TIP ON DOORDASH. In California, thanks to Prop 22 we make enough already (and I say this living in a HCOL area). TLDR: If you tip less than ~$7 in Doordash, do not tip. So I had this order from a lady who turned out to be a total pain in the ass. I accepted her order first, but right after that, DoorDash stacked three more shopping orders on top of it. I did all the shopping, delivered the first one, and then DoorDash sent me another pickup from a restaurant — while her order was still sitting in the queue as the very last one. Meanwhile, she kept blowing up my chat with impatient messages, acting like I was personally holding her package hostage. “Why are you two hours late???” blah blah blah. In the end, I delivered her stuff last — just as the algorithm planned — and when I checked the details… surprise surprise: $0 tip. Guess what? DoorDash knows. The algorithm knows. No tip = low priority = you wait. Everyone else in that batch tipped something, and all their deliveries came first. Hers? Dead last. Here's what happened: I ordered an AC from Home Depot because ours died in 100° heat. The Dasher insisted that the item was not at the store. (See screenshots) But on the app l'm watching the Dasher drive to my house and then arrive at my location and sit outside my home. So they had to have purchased something and finished the transaction (see photo) Next thing I know, DoorDash is telling me my order is complete. BUT I NEVER GOT THE AC! I called DoorDash Customer Support and got hung up on twice. Both times, my request escalated (even though they got disconnected/hung up) and my refund was denied + no explanation why (see photos) So, now I'm out $417 and have no AC and a gaping hole in my wall where the AC unit should go because we already removed the broken one!!Of course, I covered the hole with a towel, but the hot air and bugs are stilI making their way in... It's been 2 hours and DoorDash Customer Support still hasn't resolved this issue. I have filed a claim with Amex and they said in order to refund me they have to dispute it with DoorDash and prove that I never received it. Meanwhile, hope Sleitter is enjoying their new AC! 😭😭😭 P.S.
