Built a flag football app as a dad/coach to spread the ball around
Started as a way to make sure every kid on my 1st/2nd grade team actually got the ball. A few of my friend coaches started using it so I figured it was worth sharing: https://flagballercoach.com/ The feature that started it was the gameplan builder, it lets you script plays by quarter with your full roster in context so no one gets forgotten. It has all the standard stuff...draw plays, play libraries, print, etc. Personally, I like to draw plays and set up the gameplan on desktop, then use my phone on the sideline to call the game and track score/stats. You do need a free account (just an email), but you can peek at the tutorials first before signing up: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLR7Xm0lgwz-woAcc0PZCK7KjiukqdGpRd Give it a go and let me know what you think. submitted by /u/Confident_Rate6269 to r/flagfootball [link] [comments]

Is the NFL creating a professional flag league because youth/high school tackle football participation is declining?
A few days ago, the NFL officially confirmed that they’re creating a professional flag football league for men and women. The NFL has said it wants to create a professional flag football league because of the growing popularity of flag football at the youth level, especially among girls, to build a competitive pathway for athletes as the sport gains global momentum and prepares for its debut at the 2028 Olympics. I think they’re doing this for more than the reason they gave. Youth/high school tackle football participation has been declining because of concussion and injury concerns, and many parents, including former NFL players, won’t let their kids play tackle even when they reach the recommended age or are in high school. I don’t think popularity alone is the real reason. I would have expected a league like the American Flag Football League (AFFL) to create a professional flag football league. Still, the NFL has the resources and audience to dominate the space. I think the NFL wants a backup option for the future, in case they start experiencing a player shortage, because fewer teens playing football in high school means fewer will play in college and fewer will go on to the NFL. Also in the future if high schools aren't able to find enough players they might start canceling the season if they cannot combine teams with a local high school or stop offering it because no one wants to play. submitted by /u/ProgrammerUnique2897 to r/askanything [link] [comments]

Leave the flag football to the flag football players
To start, I am not here to say that flag football is a superior sport by any means. As a rugby player, my teammates and I usually will poke fun at those guys when they’re playing their games on fields adjacent to our games. We call it “I could’ve went pro” ball. But all jokes aside, the sport is niche. It’s build for those that aren’t really physically capable of contact sports. That doesn’t make it worse or better, just different. But these NFL guys and NFL retirees need to let the flag football guys play flag football. They have been focused on their sport their whole lives. They finally get the chance to compete in the Olympics and NFL guys can’t step aside and let them have their moment? You need to set up some money grab games to compete for the right to represent the US? Fucking ego maniacs need to stop trying to prove they’re the best at everything. You’re a superior athlete, but that doesn’t mean you need to infiltrate something that’s already been established and growing for years. You’re not a damn rapper, you’re not a damn podcaster, and the scoreboard shows that you’re not a damn flag football player. Glad they got romped by those wiry dudes. submitted by /u/OrganizationStrict99 to r/NFLv2 [link] [comments]
