I'm currently looking to buy a prebuilt gaming pc as an upgrade for my ps5. my budget would be ideally $1500-2500 but I have some flexibility there. I really just want something that can play any game I throw at it in at least 1440p at 120 fps or better. Got into PC gaming back in late 2016 to early 2017, and it was Linus Tech Tips who got me into this hobby. I have to say, he inspired me to get into tech as a whole, and he is the reason why I got a computer science degree and my career as a Cloud / DevOps Engineer. I remember back in the day when the GTX 1080Ti was the best GPU and how those days was the golden age of PC Gaming. As a kid with a GeForce 940M laptop, I always dream of getting the best of the best my self. Sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but starting today my pc suddenly started showing these flashing lights when gaming and it won't go away. Ive also tried another game(Lords of the fallen) so it's just not a single game. The lights don't show when I'm on desktop or doing something that's not gaming. This hobby is becoming exponentially more expensive with each passing year, games are asking for higher and higher specs and also increasing in price which makes me play more and more lightweight indie titles, which contradicts the entire point of a high end PC. I could live my entire life just playing Stardew Valley, Terraria, Factorio and Civilization, but once in a while I wanna play a new release like BF6, so I need a top of the line PC. I don't regret it, PC is my favorite platform and will ever be, but I don't think I can continue this hobby for much longer, and things are not giving signs of improving. I'm not gonna sell it, I just won't upgrade it anymore, when my current PC isn't up to spec with modern games, I'll just live with my current library, my PC can play more games that I'll ever have time to finish. Is it worth spending increasingly amounts of money for a diminishing amount of games? I'll leave that up to you. Decided to only put XP and Vista-era games on there too, the wallpaper (which I actually used back then 😅) is also from 2008. Hi folks. Well, I now own a weird super-dense metal .. doorstop? And a very heavy metal uh .. half a bookend maybe? Plus what looks like either kitty litter or road salt. I just hope the cylinder isn't radioactive or something. My Ring camera captured the package being delivered with the packing tape AND security tape already cut, from the UPS truck into my hands. I sent the video to Newegg. Despite all of that, Newegg support said that the warehouse confirms everything was just hunky-dory when it left the warehouse, except that it's supposed to be 39 lbs and the shipping label says 55 lbs. They closed the claim and stopped responding. When I posted to /r/Newegg, it got deleted. I don't want to go all nuclear and do a charge back because I know that sucks for merchants, but I'm also definitely not paying over $7k with tax for a couple of doorstops and some salt. Any ideas on how to escalate over there? Edit: The post was removed because I did not comply with Rule #1 (I reached out to the mods and they clarified for me). I was on a walk and someone had put a pile of stuff out in front of their house. I went to take a look and saw a PC box that looked like a PC case. I thought, Cool, free PC case and decided to take it home. It felt heavier than an empty case, but I didn’t even think there might be a PC inside—I just figured it was a heavy case. I took the thing home, pulled it out of the box, and saw the back of it. It had a motherboard and a graphics card in it, and I actually started shaking because it actually had stuff in it. Ive always loved watching Scrapyard Wars and the $69 gaming pc series from LTT, so I thought I’d try to give it a go myself and see what I could come up with. I am beyond proud of the finished product. The parts purchased are as followed: Base: Savers(Value Village) Dell T7810 Workstation - $6.99 GPU: FB Marketplace 980ti - $15 Storage: EBay SSD - $10 The System came with a Xeon e5-2603 v3, 16gb of ddr4 (4x4gb), a geforce 8400 gs, and a 685 watt Dell psu. No storage was included which makes sense if it was dumped by an office or school. I bought a Kingston 120gb ssd on eBay for 10$, and then a 980ti that was “maybe broken” for $15 on facebook (negotiated down from $30). The computer didn’t include any Pcie power coming from its breakout board on the power supply, but funnily enough a 8 pin to dual 6+2 cable from an old EVGA modular psu my friend had was pin compatible and required no modification, plug and play. After plugging everything in I was able to fire it up, install windows and drivers, and play some games! GPU worked flawlessly and was running cool and quiet. Definitely lucked out with that find.
