Garage Gym 2.0: "Buy Once Cry Once" Edition
I’m excited to finally post some photos of my Garage Gym 2.0 setup! My first garage gym was a Major Fitness F-22 all-in-one rack - and it got the job done - but it also left me wanting a true 3x3 rack for all the upgradability that unlocked. So, this second time around, I went with the “buy once cry once” approach. I pretty much made no concessions on getting what I really wanted given the space I had available. The big change is full digital resistance instead of a weight stack, which I absolutely love for a ton of reasons, and can’t imagine ever going back to weight stacks. Here’s the breakdown of some of my favorite attachments and components: Rack Rogue 90” Monster Rack, Stainless Steel Front Uprights, Standard Black everywhere else Rogue Monster Mini Feet (I also have it anchored to a stringer in the back) Digital Resistance 2x Beyond Power VOLTRAs Darko QuickMount Brackets Beyond Power Sliding Rack Mount Beyond Power Fixed Bar Mount Smith Machine Bulletproof VTS Bulletproof Isolator Arms Rack Attachments Rogue Monster Safety Spotter Arms 2.0 Rogue Multi Use Rack Roller Rogue Monster Squat Handles Prime Prodigy Low Row Front Foot Plate Attachment Rogue Monster Rack Mount 4-Bar Hanger Rogue Stainless Steel Pull-Up Bar Rogue Monster Storage Rack Panel Viking Strength Tricep Rope Bench REP Nighthawk Glossy Black REP Leg Curl and Leg Extension Attachment REP Adjustable Bench Leg Roller Attachment 2.0 Barbells Rogue Ohio Stainless Steel Bar Bell REP Stainless Steel Rackable Curl Bar Cable Attachments Trak Handle Sports with JD Gym Equipped Stainless Steel Handles Rogue Rotating V-Grip with Stainless Steel H5 Handle Upgrade REP Multi-Grip Curl Bar REP Pro Series Triangle Row Attachment REP Pro Series 48” Lat Bar Free Weights Nuobell S 5100 Adjustable Dumbells REP Adjustable Kettlebells submitted by /u/ethangar to r/homegym [link] [comments]

My Dream Garage Gym & Lessons Learned
2026 is the year we made it happen. Massive upgrade from what was a basic bench & collection of dumbbells. Went with Rogue’s FM-6 Twin w/o shrouds & 300# stacks. Saved a little bit by finding a few attachments & pieces used. For flooring they’re the classic Horse Stall Mats but leveled inside the rack with three different thicknesses of rubber pieces from a local rubber store. 1/4”, 1/8” & 1/16” tapered so there’s no seam felt. So far I’m extremely happy with this! I only had a 1/4” garage slant (edited for clarity) but it would have bugged me forever. With the stall mats we left em outside and flipped em weekly. At ~3-4 weeks 90% of the smell was gone & a month inside the garage there’s no smell. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone sensitive to the off gassing smell. For the FM-6 cable clevis pins, I found the looseness to cause too much rattling and used electrical tape to quiet them down nicely. Feeling satisfied not going overboard with attachments I won’t use. Enjoying the Rep Nighthawk so far. Moves easy enough for the wife to use it. Solid for secure heavy lifts. Overall the Rogue rack has been nice but there were a few issues that should have been caught by their QA. An upright had a small sliver of sharp metal that cut my finger during unboxing & one of the cable guides had the branding inside out. The carabiners they supply are sharp also & replaced em with climbing wire gate that are much easier to attach. Not the end of the world but certainly unacceptable given the premium they charge. No commuting to the gym, no waiting on machines, listen to my own music & the eventual hope my kids will lift with me someday. submitted by /u/Rusty_Shackleford259 to r/GarageGym [link] [comments]

Third and likely final version of my garage gym. Just one spot left for a T-bar row, everything else is locked in and ready to be put to work. My husband said I ruined our wedding photos and now I want to leave him.
Am I overreacting? My (33f) husband (32m) is on the spectrum and has other mental health concerns. He is often too blunt about things but at times it comes off as cruelty. We have two children under 2 and I am currently at home on maternity leave with our second. His mental health has deteriorated since we had children. We always intended to have children but he had no idea what it entailed and he has not been capable of caring for either of our children. I worked more than full time through both pregnancies in order to get adequate maternity leave in my county. My husband works full time and spends the rest of his time on his computer investing in hobbies, preparing for his job, and any side gigs he says are helping support us. My mat leave and savings pay for everything but rent and utilities for our children. My husband thinks he is generous for giving me 50 dollars once or twice a month and often makes a show of it in front of others. I’m often reduced to that sad stereotypical mother who has to ask her husband to take a shower so he’ll watch the kids. This is also the longest amount of time I would trust him with them as he has done multiple dangerous things with our kids and then tried to escape any blame with excuses. Recently he left our newly crawling youngest sitting on a high couch next to a hard tile floor while I was busy with our oldest in another room. When I got upset with him about it he laughed it off that he forgot she was there. There have also been issues with his leaving harmful tools and medication accessible to the kids. He is also unable to plan and pack for the kids for anything. I have written him lists and tried to handhold him through this but he has no patience and creates a chaotic environment when he is stressed. I end up doing everything for our kids with some help from grandparents and my close relatives. Most days he will be in the presence of our children for less than an hour and usually those days end up being easier for me. When he is around he judges what I do and nags me when our babies are hanging out in diapers after being changed instead of being fully dressed, the house is messy after a day at home, or the house stinks from me changing poops all day. I’m potty training our youngest and he wants to punish our youngest for having accidents while I want to encourage rather than traumatize. After getting our children fully ready for a day out with my husband’s family, including preparing for the family event with no input from husband as usual, I loaded the car with everything including the children. My husband came and sat in the driver’s side of the car and that was it. We headed out and he started talking at me about HIS plans for HIS future. I was just trying to appreciate the quiet car ride where the children are finally napping. I finally add something about what I see for my future. I used to be a fitness instructor and I enjoyed it very much. Since having two children I have not been able to take care of myself the way I would want to. I told my husband that I would like to get fit again and start teaching a fitness class maybe one evening a week. My husband said he would like me to come to the gym with him. He goes 3x a week at least. I remind him that my taking care of the kids allows him to do things like go to the gym that often so we can’t really go together for the most part. I barely get out to the garage to do a half hour workout when the babysitter is here or when the children are both sleeping in the middle of the night. My husband says I am doing good. He says that I “look a lot better than I did after (our first child)”and mentions our wedding. We got pregnant by accident after we were engaged and rushed to get married when I was only 3 months postpartum so we wouldn’t lose a hefty venue deposit. As a result I had to give up a lot of expectations about my wedding day. I had to get a new dress last minute (also because I didn’t know bridal sizing was smaller) but despite that I managed to feel beautiful (albeit with the help of some professional makeup and hair artists). I even look back at the photos as some of the most beautiful photos I have of myself. I ask my husband what he means by mentioning our wedding because I felt beautiful despite having just had a baby. I felt like we made the most of it despite all the hardship. He says that I was way bigger then and that my weight really wrecked those photos. I tell him to stop talking and that he shouldn’t say that about anyone especially not his wife who had recently had his baby. He continues to talk saying that we really should have gotten the photos done earlier before I started showing because the photos were ruined. I have felt numb to him since then. I think I am done. Is this a shallow reason to stop trying? He has since tried to apologize but I feel like this undermined our relationship. I remember him crying at our wedding when he saw me and being so happy. submitted by /u/PiccoloAdorable1547 to r/TwoHotTakes [link] [comments]

Figured I would post since I relied heavily on this thread to figure out a direction for my setup. Still waiting on the Rep Fitness Dumbbell Cart to ship and undecided on epoxying the floors. I needed to retain the option of still parking in the garage. Big thanks to everyone who contributes to this community. New paint, light fixtures, added outlets, fan and dehumidifier. Insulating the garage door this weekend. The dehumidifier makes a huge difference. Let me know if you have any questions. submitted by /u/Ok-Possibility-3100 to r/homegym [link] [comments]

Neighbor thinks I’m running a gym out of my garage? [SC] [SFH]
Moved into our house in South Carolina ~7 months ago. About 3 months ago, I started having my girlfriends over for a Monday night workout (ranges from 2-6 girls). Workout lasts about an hour from ~ 6:30-7:30. We don’t play the music loud and usually keep the garage door open. Today I got a letter that I was going against HOA rules “operating what appears to be an after hours gym in your garage for the past few months”. HOA states you cannot have businesses run out of your home but we’re just friends getting together. I’ve never lived in a neighborhood with an HOA before, is this normal? UPDATE Thank you everyone for replying. Most recent update is…the HOA president waved us over to chat this morning. He told us he felt sorry he had to send us the notice and knows what is actually happening. Apparently 90% of the HOA complaints have come from the same neighbor. He told us to just send in the letter to the board so he can appease the neighbor who complained. submitted by /u/Professional_Meal208 to r/HOA [link] [comments]

Garage gym setup
Husband is all about organizing things in a really efficient way. We really wanted to be able to still use our garage for cars. Here is our most recent iteration of our garage gym! submitted by /u/dkirch888 to r/homegym [link] [comments]

Finished the 2nd floor of my garage into a Home Theatre and Gym.
Finished the 2nd floor of my garage. After around 6 years of living at my current home I decided to finish my 2nd floor of my detached 28x28 garage into a Home Theatre/Gym. Started with running the wiring, 3 outlets per wall. Then insulated with R13 in the walls and R29 in the ceiling. Next was 55 sheets of 9/16” drywall, followed by drywall finishing. Next was the flush mount lighting. After that was paint, trim work and lastly some laminate flooring. I was able to complete it all myself in 1.5 months of weekend work. submitted by /u/Rubberbanmanezz to r/DIY [link] [comments]

Built a gym in my garage instead of buying a gym membership
Here's the pics. The only decent gym in my area charges $50 per month and it's always packed, so I figured i'd try building a gym for the price of roughly a one year membership (~$600). Here's the rundown: Standard weights (220 lbs), dumbbells, ez bar and standard bar on CL - $100 Olympic weights (400 lbs), olympic bar and pair of 35 lb hex dumbbells on CL - $200 Olympic bar from Amazon - $70 Power Rack from Amazon - $200 Bench from Amazon - $100 Floor mats - $80 Weight stand from play it again sports - $25 5 54x24 mirrors on CL - $40 Total - $815 I went a bit over my budget, but I might still end up selling some of those Olympic plates. I justified the extra I spent by telling myself I can always just sell most of this stuff on CL and still end up with a relatively minimal loss compared to what I originally bought the stuff for. For anyone thinking about doing something like this themselves, I can't recommend mirrors enough. Not only do they let you look at your magnificent self while you lift heavy things, but they're terrific at both adding more light to the room and helps you keep your form in check. If I had to do it all over again, I think the only thing I would do different is buying the heavy duty floor mats instead of the jigsaw ones. You can tell they're cheap and they seem like they're already breaking down a bit. I'm going to buy at least one to put underneath the Olympic bar i've got on the ground there. I'm also probably going to buy a pair of dip handles and something to tag onto the side of the cage to hold the rest of the weights i've got stacked in the corner, so I can use that space for stuff like curls and resistance band exercises. submitted by /u/peginus to r/Fitness [link] [comments]
