Why is Gold Ira trending?

1
Inflation Hedge
Gold has historically been seen as a hedge against inflation. When the value of fiat currencies decreases, the price of gold tends to rise, preserving the purchasing power of the investor's retirement savings.
2
Portfolio Diversification
Including gold in a retirement portfolio can help diversify the overall investment holdings. Gold has a low correlation with traditional assets like stocks and bonds, which can help reduce overall portfolio volatility.
3
Safe-Haven Asset
During times of economic uncertainty or geopolitical instability, gold is often considered a safe-haven asset. Investors turn to gold as a store of value and a means of protecting their wealth during turbulent times.
4
Potential for Growth
Gold has the potential for long-term growth. Its value is influenced by various factors such as supply and demand dynamics, global economic conditions, and investor sentiment. As such, it can provide opportunities for capital appreciation.
5
Wealth Preservation
Gold has a long history of preserving wealth. Unlike paper assets that can be subject to market volatility or economic downturns, physical gold retains its intrinsic value and can act as a safeguard against financial instability.

The Gold IRA pros and cons got me confused with everything
I've been seeing gold hit crazy highs lately and my coworker won't stop saying I should roll my 401k into a gold ira. So I spent the last few days doing my research on Gold IRA pros and cons and honestly I came out more confused. The inflation hedge thing makes sense to me, and I like the idea of not having everything tied to the stock market. But the fees caught me off guard, setup costs, annual admin fees, storage fees on top of that adn the costs stack up in a way I wasn't expecting at all. The fact that you can;t even hold the metal yourself kinda messes with me. Like you own gold but it just sits in some vault somewhere and you are paying for the privilege. For people here who actually have a gold ira, do you think the tax advantages made it worth all the extra hoops, or would you have just bought physical? Update: I appreciate all the responses. I actually doing more research and came across Priority Gold as one of the transparent options if you do physical route outside of an IRA. But honestly the thread convinced me to keep retirement money separate and maybe just look into a simple gold ETF for now instead of going full gold ira. submitted by /u/Dansou-Zegeye to r/investingforbeginners [link] [comments]

Would be impossible to post all of the trades that blew my account but here's a sample screenshot where I lost over $90k in one trade. Hopefully that's good enough for the mods. Longer story: I started trading April of last year with $200k in my taxable and $100k in IRA. I made great (lucky?) trades across a few tickers and hit $1M in my IRA and $2.3 million (at the very top in October) in my taxable. I took a few more trades in October / November, ended up down to $380k or so in my IRA and $900k in my taxable. Decided to take out $500k finally because of my friend convincing me to stop. Put everything in VOO and had $500k in my bank for a bit, but then wanted to make some trades. Made a couple of decent ones but then started playing around with options and 0dtes in February of this year. Started with small positions at first but the positions quickly became much larger. Got absolutely tilted over the past few weeks and then just nuked my accounts bit a bit... and then by a lot. Thought I could make it back with some of the remaining cash I had and deposited that into Robinhood as well only to lose that too. Down to $28k in my IRA and about $25k in my taxable. Feeling highly regarded. I basically had financial freedom if I just kept everything in indexes but no.... my retirement and life money are gone. The only bright side is that I paid my taxes and I still have an emergency fund. Still in a bit of denial and hoping I can make the money back with more "disciplined" "trading" Did you know it only takes 95 trades of compounding 5% and I can make everything back in a year? TLDR: Started with $100k in my IRA last year and $200k in my taxable last year. Ran it up to $1M in IRA and $2M in taxable. Kept trading, chased some losses in SPY options (both puts and calls) and blew up my accounts. Down from around $800k across both at the beginning of this year to about $50k across both. https://preview.redd.it/l1o65sr0o2tg1.jpg?width=1320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33a87fb8c555a8a12100bbc2bebaa8a00c94cf8a submitted by /u/chasmicvoid to r/wallstreetbets [link] [comments]

Thoughts on Gold IRA
I’m newish to stacking. Have started some physical silver and a little gold coins. Just sitting watching my portfolio go down with the market. Our financial advisor says stay the course to catch the rebound. Doesn’t exactly make sense to me with the current state of affairs. She advises against a self directed IRA to put say 10% portfolio into metals. What are your all thoughts on gold IRAs? Do you have any companies you recommend that were transparent on pricing and had reasonable fees? Already talked to someone at American Alternative Assets. While they were somewhat helpful I felt like they lacked transparency about pricing and fees and the guy we talked with sounded like an ex mob boss. I like how straight forward Battalion Metals website is but they are newer and their storage fees look a bit higher than the first company I spoke with. I know this can be the wild west .. submitted by /u/Environmental-Big935 to r/Gold [link] [comments]

Gold IRA scams: what are the real red flags you’ve seen firsthand?
I’ve had sales calls that felt like pressure tactics: “limited time,” “the dollar is collapsing,” “fees waived if you act today.” If you’ve vetted companies, what scam patterns show up repeatedly (fake “IRS approved” claims, absurd premiums, bait-and-switch storage, weird “home storage” pitches)? A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is One of the Best Television Series Ever Made
I’m high asf and just binged watched all the episodes before tomorrow night’s season finale, and there are tears running down my face. To Ira Parker and the team of Executive Producers: you were given a tall order. I admit I didn’t feel a ton of enthusiasm when this series was announced, although I loved reading the novellas. I didn’t believe that the essence of Dunk and Egg’s stories would be conveyed authentically onscreen. You did a beautiful job. To all of the departments (production, casting, costumes, hair & makeup, visual effects, etc.): you deserve a raise, a fat bonus and a relaxing holiday. To Peter and Dexter: thank you. Thank you for your dedication to these characters and the story. Your performances are some of the best acting I’ve seen. At times you made me laugh until I cried, and other times you just made me cry. Huge shout out to Bamber Todd who portrays the younger version of Dunk. You broke my heart. To G.R.R.M.: thank you for proving that the success of the GoT Universe was never about the dragons or the sorcery. “What unites people? Armies? Gold? Flags? Stories. Gold IRA vs 401k for someone in their 20s… what would you do?
I’m 25 and trying to be more intentional about retirement instead of just blindly contributing and hoping for the best. Right now I have a 401k through work with the standard mix of index funds. It’s been fine, especially with the employer match, but lately I’ve been seeing more conversations about diversifying with physical assets like gold. So now I’m stuck wondering… does it even make sense to compare a Gold IRA vs 401k? Or are they totally different animals and I’m mixing things up? Part of me likes the simplicity of the 401k. Automatic contributions, tax advantages, broad market exposure. Hard to argue with that. But another part of me keeps thinking about inflation, market crashes, and how everything feels kind of uncertain long term. That’s what got me looking into Gold IRAs in the first place. ETA: Really appreciate everyone who took the time to share their thoughts and experiences. I didn’t expect this many detailed responses! After reading through everything and doing a bit more research on my own, I decided to speak directly with Priority gold just to better understand how a Gold IRA would actually work in practice. Still weighing my options, but the input here definitely helped me think more clearly about it. submitted by /u/Rawa-Zinn to r/investingforbeginners [link] [comments]

I lost everything - CVNA
Tomorrow I lose everything. Carvana had earnings report after hours and shot up 15%. I bet everything that they would fall or at least not jump so high. All of it will be gone when market opens tomorrow. I don’t care it’s just money. It doesn’t matter. I’m going to be a wage slave forever and that’s ok. Im 5’4 so life sucks anyways. I don’t even have a job right now and that’s ok. It just wanted a million so I could be set. Wanted to buy a house but it’s ok. My life sucks anyways haha 😂 submitted by /u/tonyg776 to r/wallstreetbets [link] [comments]

It really is different this time: Why I’m letting myself hope Epstein is what will be the final straw for Trump supporters.
It's sticking. And it's time we asked why. I've been Charlie Browned by Lucy's football too many times to say "we've got him," but this feels different. For years, I had a theory about why nothing stuck to Trump – the "Teflon Don" effect. Now, those reasons have crumbled, and I genuinely believe this is the beginning of the end for his support base. To explain why, I need to outline my past pessimism. The Propaganda Machine Even if Republicans had grown a spine and impeached Trump, I doubted it would matter. He was out of power once, and a slim majority still voted to return the man behind the fake elector plot to power. We often theorize about why people vote "against their interests" – economic anxiety, hatred of minorities, etc. But the real culprit is propaganda. Talk to many Trump supporters, and they'll spout factually untrue, easily debunkable claims. They vote based on a mountain of outright lies. Scientific evidence supports this: studies show right-wing voters are drastically more misinformed and encounter more online misinformation than others. This isn't accidental. Their information environment is carefully curated. We're in a war we didn't know we were fighting, and we're losing. Years ago, we caught Russia funding massive bot armies to spread disinformation to target groups online. We caught them, and then we did nothing. If you believe propaganda is effective, you must acknowledge its role in our current state. Tracing the Spin The influence of this propaganda is evident if you know where to look. I used to wonder how conservative spaces would adopt the exact same spin three or four days after a Trump catastrophe. It always followed a pattern: Trump would screw up, r/conservative would show growing concern for a couple of days, and then suddenly, everyone would parrot the exact same talking points. The next time it happened (I think it was the Gold Star family comments), I tracked Google Trends. I saw that the terms dominating right-wing echo chambers first appeared on RT-related sites days prior. For the uninitiated, RT is Russia's Western propaganda network. Here's the typical timeline: Day 0: RT generates dozens of contradictory apologetics for Trump, throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. One headline spikes on Google Trends. Day 1: Russian bots amplify this narrative across Twitter, Reddit, 4chan, and other echo chambers. Day 2: Right-wing commentators (some later revealed to be directly paid by Russia, like Tim Pool and Dave Rubin) amplify it. Day 3+: Less connected mainstream networks like Fox News and OAN toe the party line. This cycle repeated endlessly. It became clear that there was no way out unless we stopped this state-level propaganda. When Trump took office again, he immediately dismantled efforts to defend against it. What's Different Now? Something has changed. There's no unified message from his usual allies. If anything, the typical echo chambers are turning against Trump. Even MAGA supporters are starting to connect the dots and aren't experiencing the usual collective amnesia. Their new mantra is "we won't let Epstein go." Why is this time different? It's simple: it was never Trump. He was a useful idiot who has now outlived his usefulness, made too many powerful enemies, and pissed off the wrong people in recent months. He's cost powerful individuals a lot of money, angered Elon Musk, and, crucially, a few days ago Trump named Putin an enemy and proposed a plan to resume supplying Ukraine with weapons. The Cracks in the Foundation If you critically examine the origin of the spin during past crises, you can trace it back to a single source amplified by a network of independent actors with shared interests. After a Trump blunder, RT would market-test different spins with dozens of headlines. Once one hit, Russia's IRA would spread it online. You'd see identical phrases pop up in r/conservative around day three, while Russian-paid commentators like Tim Pool and Dave Rubin toed the line. Finally, mainstream media like Fox News and OANN would pick it up. But this time? r/conservative hasn't locked down the topic. It's been a week, and it's still trending on X. It's hard to believe Elon Musk wasn't influencing things before, so why would he help Trump now? Musk is the one who recently pointed to the Epstein list. Trump's true base of support – grifters, monied interests, and Russia – has been hollowed out. Now, we're seeing how the people we thought were hopeless behave when they're not persistently surrounded by coordinated, state-level propaganda. submitted by /u/fox-mcleod to r/skeptic [link] [comments]

Fired my old fart financial advisor, stopped swing trading, started taking profits, started buying the dip (almost no options)
I’m no expert by any means, I’ve just been listening to investors with a great track record on X, followed a few trends here like RKLB, and made a few large picks in $IONQ (sold 90% a few weeks ago), $HOOD, $HIMS, $RDDT, etc - companies with incredible futures ahead of them that have been proven. This run is crazy, and I can sleep at night knowing I won’t nuke my entire port with a bad week of options. Side note: love having my old fart financial advisor running my IRA telling me he beats the S&P every year, and seeing 7% gains… should be an illegal statement he made submitted by /u/ProfessorAkaliOnYT to r/wallstreetbets [link] [comments]
