Until now that's been very tricky with just the link to go off of, but with iOS 15 Apple added Safari extensions which allow you to do more with intercepting these pages directly, so I built an app/extension to block AMP pages. I'm calling it Amplosion. It's private, with everything happening on-device and it's open source to prove it. And today for Reddit, I knocked 33% off the already low price to make it just $2. For the uninitiated, AMP pages are a project Google makes where they basically re-host the webpage with the claimed goal of trying to make it load faster. The reality is that it often creates an inconsistent, or often outright broken experience, that then mangles the URL for sharing with people by making it three times as long with a bunch of Google junk added. Meine Tochter (9) hat ein Handy, weil ich finde es ist wichtig sich früh mit Technik auseinanderzusetzen. Damit der Konsum nicht entgleist, hab ich Google Family Link installiert, so das quasi jede Aktion die sie vorher noch nicht gemacht hat, von mir abgenickt werden muss. Also Apps installieren, Webseiten ansurfen sowas halt. Und ich habe ihr ein Kontingent von täglich 30 Min zur freien Verfügung bereitgestellt, welches in Ausnahmefällen verlängert, oder zur Sanktionierung auch gekürzt oder ganz entzogen werden kann. Das hat prima geklappt. Gestern hat sie allerdings den Zorn des Admins auf sich gezogen in dem sie zu Brutal gegenüber ihrem kleinen Bruder (5) war, und auch miese fiese Beleidigungen aussprach. Also passierte was passieren musste für heute ist Medienschonung angesagt. Nun ist es so dass ich Sonntags morgens etwas länger schlafe als die Kinder, so hat sie die Gelegenheit genutzt und mit ihrer Freundin per WhatsApp geschwatzt. Als ich das gemerkt habe, hab ich in meiner Kontrollzentrale das Handy gesperrt. Das führte auch umgehend zu einem Sturm der Entrüstung, der dann aber nach dem Hinweis auf das gestern ausgesprochene Verbot schnell wieder verstummte. 15 Minuten später geh ich am Kinderzimmer vorbei, und höre die lieblich schrabbelnde Stimme ihrer Freundin, aus dem Samsung-Plaste-Lautsprecher und schaue neugierig hinein. Fräulein sitzt auf dem Bett und schwatzt unbeindruckt. Ich werfe einen Blick in meine Kommandozentrale das Handy ist offiziell gesperrt. Ich frage sie wie es möglich sein kann dass sie telefoniert, und sie zeigt mir total stolz wie sie mit ein paar Tastenkombinationen plötzlich Whatsapp aufhat, auf telefonieren drückt, ehe das Handy wieder in den Sperrbildschirm zurückfällt. Telefonieren geht trotzdem. Jetzt stellt sich hier ein Gefühl zwischen Stolz und Erschütterung bei mir ein. tl;dr: Google Family Link hat den Pentest durch eine neunjährige nicht bestanden.
