Okay, so my kitchen cabinets are very similar to your green wall color. I would recommend Benjamin Moore Englewood cliffs (in matte finish) the number is 1607 - Looks dark on the swatch but this is what it looks like next to my cabinets…. Should I go for the green or paint these cabinet white?
I am redoing these beige cabinets this summer. Green is the only color I think I could live with in a kitchen but I’m not sure if it will make this room too dark. Does this shade of green look nice? Opinion: Green painted cabinets here to stay?
Alright, I’ve wanted moody green kitchen cabinets for ages. We’ve moved a couple times over the years and now finally own a house that we’ll be in for a long time. The kitchen cabinets are currently painted white. I want to paint them dark green but am wondering if it got so popular & became so trendy that it will start to look dated soon?? What do you think? And if so, what cabinet colors are you starting to see come into style? submitted by /u/Charming_Compote5967 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

Am I the asshole for feeding my roommate his own mess?
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/thewretchedcup Am I the asshole for feeding my roommate his own mess? Originally posted to r/AITApod Thanks to u/soayherder u/theprismaprincess & u/queenlegolas for suggesting this BoRU TRIGGER WARNING:physical violence, food tampering MOOD SPOILER: Disgusting Original Post Feb 18, 2026 I 28M have two roomies, “Vick” and “Mark.” We’re typical bros who like to hang out, watch movies, and play sports. Things have been copacetic in our apartment for some time but some time ago something happened and my GF keeps giving me crap about it. Mark 27m has a very strict diet bc he is a huge fitness bro and he is basically nver not in the kitchen. Protein shake for breakfast. Omelette (egg white only) for a second breakfast. Huge chicken salad for lunch. Broccoli and chicken dinner. On and on. Thing is, Mark is clean but not detail-oriented. LIttle things get left around the kitchen, like tiny bits of egg, tiny bits of salad, just like not quite clean clean. It’s not an issue immediately but as the week goes on, it tends to get nasty in there. Mark has been talked to multiple times and it keeps happening. We have a cleaner monthly so it does reset eventually but for like 3 weeks, it’s straight up garbage town. Me and Vick are always venting about it bc tbh it’s like the only problem in our apartment. So a month ago, we decided to do something about it. We started collecting all of the extra shit we find, little nuts, chicken pieces, crumbs on the floor, in a cup. We came to label the cup, “the wretched cup.” Mark has a huge bowl in the fridge where he keeps the meal-prepped salad. We put the wretched cup into the salad. TBH we expected Mark to immediately notice that and come into the living room and rip us a new one. LIke what is all this nasty crap in my salad?! Never happened. Instead, what happened is nothing. He didn’t even clock it man. Mark full-on ate that stuff. He ate the wretched cup. Old eggs, wilted greens, apple stems, kitchen floor crumbs, probably a fair amount of straight up dirt. It makes me gag even thinking about it. He ate the wretched cup, man, he straight up devoured the cursed thing. He probably even enjoyed it as he SAID NOTHING. I had to take a break writing this bc it makes me sick. Anyway, I'm back, I told my GF this story when it happened about a month ago. She got really serious and was like no that’s ACTUALLY f-ed up. I was surprised at her reaction and I told Vick but we opted to do nothing. She brought it up again recently (in a serious heavy tone) and said that’s just really messed up and you need to tell him. Well we don’t want to. It kind of took our cackling about it to a different level where we’re like wait did we cross a line? And to be fair, if this isn’t obvious, Mark is kind of a beast so my Gf also was kinda like “you sure you guys aren’t a little jealous and want to demean him a bit?” which we are friends w him so I don’t feel like that’s valid but including for completeness. He is jacked and we are maybe, athletic adjacent. We’re 1 week from the cleaners coming and remembering he feasted on the wretched cup is honestly making me feel better whenever i'm cleaning his mess. But obviously he never got sick or anything but is this really that big of a deal? I feel like it passed. No harm no foul. Come on. Not gonna do it again or anything and still don’t know what to do, but for now it’s making us feel better which was the whole point. Am i the asshole? Update Feb 20, 2026 AITA for feeding my roommate his own mess? (update: we told Mark, he lost it) first post but long story short, my roommate, "Mark" is a gym bro who leaves a mess every day that grows into a nasty kitchen. Me and other roomie Vick frustrated with his lack of cleaning and having told him at least 9 times, collected that mess and put it into a cup we called the wretched cup. we then put the contents of the wretched cup into Mark's huge meal-prepped salad he eats all week(like mixed it around). Mark didn't notice and so we weren't sure what to do. Well the comments were pretty uniform in saying that we are assholes and so... we told him. So i have to admit, for all the people who said to be honest and just tell the truth, it did feel good. Initialyl when we told Mark, he laughed really hard, we all did. It was a funny bro moment ngl. but when he woke up the next morning, he was actually seriously pissed. And to be fair, i do think saying we attempted to poison him isn't exactly false, which was a point he repeated a lot I thought it would blow over but it got worse. Mark came home and was more or less fuming. We kept saying sorry and that we understood and he kept saying no we don't understand. I guess a thing here is that he is really into fitness so we didn't really think of the implications of how his body is a temple and all. The anger just honestly kept getting worse. We were not defensive even bc look at this point, we got it. It was fucked up and i get that. But Mark was freaking out and ended up punching a hole in the wall. And at that point, he stormed off to bed and me nad Vick agreed that's our bad. Like we did this to someone who is obsessed with their body and ya, it's on us. But it didn't actually stop there. The next morning he was making his protein smoothie, and as he was cleaning up, he got frustrated and straight up ripped a cabinet door off and left it in the sink. :/ We're kind of at a loss. No clue how much that's gonna cost but probably more than some shitty drywall bro it's a whole ass cabinet. is this just a deal with it kinda situation at this point? some people even said it was illegal which I don't really think is what's meant by food tampering (more it relates to grocery stores is what i got from looking it up). Probably the end of our apartment, end of an era, but yeah that's what happened. Kitchen cabinets: pale yellow, pale green or leave white?
I bought this 1950s ranch recently that was recently redone and given the all white special. I’m trying to put some of 50s color back into it and noticed a lot of the kitchens were feminine color palettes (gee, I wonder why…) so I’ve been trying to make budget friendly changes. The flooring will be swapped out for black and white checkered tile, I added the pink backsplash. The terrazzo granite will stay. Initially, I figured I’d leave the cabinets alone, but now I’m wondering if they’d look better painted. It would either be a very pale, light yellow or a pale mint green, to keep with the theme. Appliances are obviously modern, but they were punched months before I bought the house so I’ll probably just ride them till the wheels fall off before replacing them with someone that looks more vintage. Anyway! Thoughts? Thank you! submitted by /u/CowboyLikeMegan to r/femalelivingspace [link] [comments]

Our year long journey is finally done!
Last Thanksgiving (2024) we discovered a slow leak in our dishwasher that was causing problems with our hardwood floor. Replacing the floor turned into a complete renovation of our first floor including a complete gut of our kitchen/dining room. We removed the walls that separated the kitchen and dining room to create an open floor plan. This included the removal of the pantry in the kitchen and a storage closet in the dining room. We found a local designer who really understood what we wanted and worked with us to try out some different things (such as the cutting board display on the door of the new spice cupboard). Our house is a cedar, post and beam construction with wood everywhere and we wanted to keep that vibe. We ended up going with the sage green cabinets because we felt it went well with the house and all of the greenery outside our windows. The floor, island, and some of the cabinet interiors are walnut. We also ended up buying all new furniture, too. The cabinets are full custom from Ayr in Indiana. My wife and I both like to cook/bake so we decided to go with our dream appliance setup. The induction cooktop has been amazing so far. We also went with a steam oven and are just getting a chance to try it out. Destruction started in July and we were finally able to start moving everything back in a few days before Thanksgiving. Unpacking is moving slowly as we discover all of the things we don’t really need. There will be plenty of donations happening over the next few months. This was a much larger project than we envisioned, but we are happier with the end results than we ever imagined we would be. It’s crazy that we ended up with a larger space that feels more welcoming and cozy than what we had before. submitted by /u/Exidor to r/kitchenremodel [link] [comments]

Kitchen renovation - grey to green
I brightened up my west-facing kitchen by painting over the glossy grey cabinets, and painting the light blue walls in Dulux Overtly Olive. I borrowed a friend's sander and sanded each cabinet door and surround down, then primed with two coats of Zinsser B-I-N Stain Block Interior Multi-Surface Primer. After waiting for the primer to completely dry, I used three coats of Dulux Easycare Washable & Tough Matt in 'Forest Shade'. I bought the gold handles from Amazon, and covered one of the counters in glossy white marble contact paper. I didn't cover the rest because it was an ordeal honestly 🤣 But I may revisit it. I also covered the baseboards and the side of the peninsula with floral contact paper. On the wall above the white 'marble' counter are some stick-on vertical pink tiles. These came in sheets and were really easy to tick on - they will definitely rip the paint off when I eventually take them off though! It's been a year now, and the paint has held up so well. I repainted a chip from where I dropped a bowl and it made a small scratch on a cabinet door, but apart from that, it has been low maintenance and easy to clean. Eventually, I think, this room will undergo a professional renovation, but for now the brighter colour makes a massive difference and makes me so much happier 🙂 submitted by /u/jerihome to r/Renovations [link] [comments]

Deciding between two styles of jade green peel-and-stick backsplash tiles for my apartment kitchen. Do you prefer 1 or 2?
Note: in photo 2, that was the only consumer image I could find of those tiles in a kitchen with white cabinetry and white quartz countertop like I have, but I think I would take the tiles all the way to the bottom of the upper cabinets, to fill the space. I think I might be leaning toward 1, even though 2 is beautiful, bc I am more used to seeing the “offset tile” pattern of 1, vs parallel lines of tiles in 2 (hopefully that makes sense). Though, maybe the parallel/non-offset lines of 2 are more modern? Idk submitted by /u/citynomad1 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

Found a mysterious pipe underneath a kitchen cabinet that leads directly to the cockroach dimension - can I seal this up with expanding foam, or is this potentially needed for something?
Years ago, my girlfriend ended up discovering a corner of the kitchen that a cockroach had crawled out of. When she went to investigate further, multiple cockroaches had popped out. In an effort to try and temporarily seal the hole they were coming out of, she had placed a little cardboard box that fit perfectly into the corner the cockroaches were coming out from and duct-taped the shit out of it to keep it sealed up. Time went on, no more cockroaches were seen, and the little box under the kitchen cabinet was soon forgotten. All the while this little box ended up becoming the cockroach equivalent of the Great Wall of China, keeping these filthy creatures at bay for years. Fast forward a couple of years, and I've now moved into my girlfriend's house. I hadn't seen a single cockroach in the 6+ months I've been living here and suddenly see three in the span of about two weeks. That's when my girlfriend remembers the sacred seal that had imprisoned these monsters all those years ago, and regales me with the horrific tale of the Great Sealing. Horrified, and hoping to eliminate the unholy forces at their source, I buy some Advion cockroach gel online to shoot into whatever hole awaits me behind the box. I remove the box and the tape keeping everything sealed, and it really doesn't look like much at first. It's difficult to actually see what's going on inside the hole because the opening is actually on the part of the cabinet that hangs over the floor. I start applying some of the cockroach gel and get ready to seal everything up. And that's when I see them... multiple cockroaches are now openly feasting on the gel bait I applied just 30 seconds ago. Disgusted, I carefully put the box back in place and proceed to go absolutely crazy with the amount of tape I use to seal this all shut. So now it's ON, there's definitely some kind of cockroach infestation going on in there, and I want to know more without having to go too far behind enemy lines. Over the next several days, I continue to squirt cockroach gel into a tiny resealable opening in the box. The cockroach gel must be bringing even MORE of them out, because the squirming of the cockroaches against the wall of the box was audible from across the kitchen if it's quiet. l buy a cheap boroscope on Amazon and drill a hole towards the top of the cabinet and feed it through. What I end up seeing in there... is the stuff of nightmares. it looks like there's a 4 inch space between the end of the cabinet and the interior wall, and there are DOZENS of cockroaches that I can see even with the limited view through the boroscope. I continue to look around wondering... how are they getting in? If they've been sealed in this entire time, how are they surviving? And that's when I see it... a huge hole going straight through the floor, presumably directly to cockroach hell itself. Portal to the Cockroach Dimension Green square (The color of puke) is how they are entering the kitchen. Dark Red hole (the color of Satan) is how they are entering the house. It looks like it was put there purposefully at some point, but I have no idea what this was used for previously. I stick the nozzle of the cockroach gel applicator into the hole I used for the boroscope and absolutely BLAST the everliving piss out of the gel bait into this wicked, godless no-mans-land I've discovered before covering the hole with more tape. The following days were followed by even more intense audible squirming. I monitor the area, and begin to find several small roaches in the coming days. I lay down sticky traps and catch several potential escapees. I set up my gopro to try and catch WHERE these guys are coming from, but no luck. After several days of monitoring sticky traps and having to hear these nasty fuckers wiggle around, it gets quiet. I give it another couple of days before I decide to look in again with the boroscope. It appears most of them have been wiped out at this point. I see a couple stragglers but NOTHING like it was previously... I also managed to get the camera to look INTO the box from above, and it is an absolute mass graveyard in there. Denizens of the Underworld So now, the task at hand: I need to somehow seal that pipe to prevent any counter-attacks from the invading forces. My current thinking is that I can use an oscillating multi-tool to create a small (maybe 8 inches by 8 inches) opening from the inside of the cabinet and seal the pipe with expanding foam, replace the piece I'd cut out, and reseal that as well. I bought full-body hazmat suits for me and my girlfriend for when we need to eventually brave the hellscape hidden in our kitchen and repel the heinous invaders once and for all. I checked the inspection report when the house was first purchased, and there is no mention about this pipe/hole under the cabinet. Is there any possible purpose for this? Is it safe to just seal this off and be done with this loathsome chapter in my life? I'm worried about some kind of pressure building up in the pipe leading to a world-ending cockroach explosion. Is there a better way to approach this? https://preview.redd.it/muzgoo4q12rd1.jpg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a0eed0b8a42e6e5158c74adecd12224c035f9ab submitted by /u/Sky_Prodigy to r/DIY [link] [comments]

I… like honey oak cabinets? Thoughts on my kitchen?
So maybe I’m too young to have gone through the original wave of honey oak cabinets in kitchens in the 80s and 90s but I didn’t know they were so hated now. I know white cabinets are in now, but thought oak was still kind of timeless? They’re good quality and sturdy, but everyone on Reddit seems to hate them! I recently moved into my place and was stoked about having such a big kitchen, and honestly though the oak cabinets and black appliances looked cozy! I want to keep them, but maybe change the hardware to black. Any thoughts on what to replace the faucet with? I’m seeing green and blue pops of decoration could also contrast well with the cabinets? Anyway just thought it was funny that I loved the kitchen when I bought this house, and now only realizing the vast majority of the internet would consider it horribly outdated lol submitted by /u/aprilchestnut to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

What is this bright green (I think kitchen or sports) item? Text on it says Franklin Sports, Made in China, 318030006. Approximately 8-10", it is only a couple of ounces, the black base is rubbery. Was found in an old cabinet at my office. No one at work knows what it is or what it was used for.
