Get a lean ground beef, if it’s too expensive, get regular 80/20 and cook it thoroughly (NO SPICES/SALT YET) and drain the fat. Add half a big can of crushed tomato’s and salt, pepper, curry, garam masala, onion and garlic powder. Serve with a 120g of white rice. And 120g of the meat sauce you just made. I like to batch cook the ground beef and store the meat sauce in my fridge for up to 3 days and I make burritos with it using low carb tortillas. our monthly take home is 7k and we have had to change how we eat. I add beans, lentils, oats, and quinoa as filler to meat and heavy starches like rice, potatoes, or pasta is the base of every meal instead of the meat or fresh vegetable. quinoa and lentils to taco meat is the most invisible. Main issue: I tried to thaw meat yesterday while I was at work, my cat has recently been having behavioral issues and getting up on my counters, she’s never done this before. I left the meat out like usual, and she jumped into the sink while I was gone and ate the raw meat. I didn’t even think about it until I got home to cook the meat and it was busted open. She ate a big amount of raw meat as well as some plastic and I’m sure she ate the paper between the patties as well. She’s been acting her normal self and eating and drinking water. She hasn’t vomited or had any diarrhea. I’m scared she might get sick or that the plastic is stuck in her belly and she’s unable to digest it and cause a medical issue. Should I go ahead take her to the emergency vet or do I wait and see if it passes first? She always uses the restroom after her afternoon dinner. Do I wait for her to use the bathroom or go ahead and take her? Any advice helps ! . . . About me: I’m 25F, live in NC, USA. My cat (Cardi) is 9 years old, indoor only and spayed. I’m unable to contact her normal vet because it is Easter weekend. I have the means to take her to the vet, but it will probably end up on a credit card. ***EDIT*** Thank you everyone who has offered me advice. It has relieved a lot of my anxiety about this being a serious issue. This cat is my whole world. I panic at the smallest things happening to her so I feel better that other owners have gone through similar and their kitties ended up fine. I’m grateful all of the support and funny comments as well. Also, yes. I’m aware that meat is not supposed to be thawed this way. I was in a pinch and the meat was frozen solid, Throwing it in the sink for a few hours was the easiest way to get it ready to cook. I was raised my whole life doing it like this. Never been sick or had any issues. I guess we’re just raised differently here in the south 😅. Ive had this cat for 9 years and never had her jump on the counter to steal food which is why this is such a surprise to me.
