Aldi refuses to sell tampons without ID.
Pretty much as the title says. I very very rarely shop at Aldi. I’m in my 30s but I do look younger than I am. Not as young as 18. Went to Aldi this evening to get some fresh produce but the quality wasn’t great so I did a lap of the store to see what else I needed. Tampons are super cheap so I grabbed two and made my way to the counter where the woman asked if I had ID. I thought she was joking so I said “ID? For……tampons?” And had a little giggle. She said “yes. For tampons.” I said “you ARE joking?” She told me “no. These are 18+ items. We need ID”. So I said forget it laughed and walked out. I can understand asking for ID for knives, flammable things, spray paint ect but tampons? Are woman supposed to not have periods before 18? Someone help me understand the logic behind it. submitted by /u/K1ttyK1lljoy to r/australia [link] [comments]

Isn't it funny that aldi keeps having record breaking years. So rather than give us more people, they're trying to take people away.
The crazy thing is guys in twenty twenty seven. We're gonna be opening with two people alongside.Having self checkout and curbside, and then the closing shift is going be closing with one person, and they can do it all!!! Guys im sorry none of this makes sense. The problem is the rich.Want to get richer. There is no ceiling in the game of making money. Much like the millennials, Aldi is also out to ruin big restaurant 🤤
Seriously though, my weekends have been filled with bagged salads and whatever interesting new frozen seafood meal is on rotation that week. It has been awesome (mostly)!! This week is salt and pepper calamari. Salad and calamari were sub $12. This would probably run me $25+ at Red Lobster. I've saved sooo much money and even lost quite a bit of weight (other lifestyle adjustments as well). Why pay someone double to unbag my salad and heat up my frozen junk? eta- spelling submitted by /u/kimkartrash1can to r/aldi [link] [comments]

Aldis ruined my life
Big hot dog fan. I used to eat probably four a week. Three months ago The Aldis near my house was out of Nathan’s hot dogs so I bought the store brand. I found an absolutely obscene amount of bones and cartilage in the first hot dog I ate to the point that I thought somehow I was being pranked. I couldn’t eat meat for a week and I still can’t eat hot dogs. I’m devastated and needed to get it off my chest. Thanks. submitted by /u/Rubberbean23 to r/aldi [link] [comments]

Good clarification. I like the ease of application and also less greasiness to rub in. I hate having to spend 10 minutes rubbing the lotions in every few hours. I used the aldi brand spray for the first time yesterday and it took about a minute, smelled neutral and was far less greasy.

AITAH for not wanting to give my cart up for free at Aldis
So I don’t know if Aldis are everywhere or not. Their carts require you to put a quarter in them to use them but you get your quarter back when you return them. It’s to convince people to push their carts back to the front of the store rather than leaving them in the parking lot etc. An unspoken rule is if someone grabs your cart from you before you turn it in they give you a quarter for it. This lady asked for my cart and I asked if she had a quarter she said no so I shrugged and turned it in to get my quarter back. She got really upset and some other people kinda side eyed me and it made me feel like a jerk. I don’t keep change or use cash and I just keep the quarter in my center console for when I shop there. So to me if I gave the cart for free I would be SOL the next time I shopped there. submitted by /u/No_Cookie420 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Things I wish customers knew from an Aldi employee: Self checkout edition
If you go to self checkout with a mark down item you need to press the help button for the cashier to mark down your item. It is just a sticker we slap on the item. The scanner reads barcodes…not stickers. There is no self checkout attendant like at other stores. The cashier is the one tasked with managing all of the self checkouts. Using the produce menu for loose produce items is easier for everyone instead of trying to scan the little stickers. If you are buying a weighed item like grapes or bananas you need to set the item down on the scanner which has a built in scale. All self checkouts have a glowing number above them. If it is glowing red, that means it is closed. Self checkouts cannot load money onto cards. Because of this you can’t purchase gift cards or use bottle return slips at self checkout. You cannot pay with Aldi gift cards or merchandise cards at self checkout. You have to go the cashiers line. If you are paying with EBT and doing a split payment go to the cashiers line. The self checkouts are terrible at splitting payments with EBT properly. If something isn’t scanning because the print on the barcode is faded you can type in the long upc number printed under the barcode and it will ring up. If you need help we will do it for you but if you don’t want to interact with people you can type it in yourself. If you need an ID check for alcohol the self checkout will not ring unless you select finish and pay. Please don’t stand there in silence waiting for someone to come to you. Hit finish and let it ring so we 100% notice you need an ID check. If you need help, please do not walk up to the cashier while they are checking out someone trying to explain your problem, or search the store for an employee. Press the help button, make it ring, and let us come to you. Large bulk items like cases of water and dog food have a little yellow circle with a two digit number on the packaging. This is a number you can type in if it is difficult to scan. If you press the help button and it stops ringing/the help screen clears but the cashier doesn’t come right to you, we know you need help and will be with you asap OR we already resolved the issue from the attendant station. Otherwise, you can continue scanning things and we will come to you. You don’t need to press the help button again or wait to keep scanning. I could go on, but this post is long enough. Hopefully as time goes on the self checkouts will keep updating and be easier/faster to use! submitted by /u/GreenProfessional259 to r/aldi [link] [comments]

What do you avoid getting at Aldi?
Just moved to a new area with an Aldi pretty close by (and no Trader Joes). I used to love going every once in a while although I haven't been in a few years, but it seems like every time I check this sub, there's always someone complaining about how the quality of the items has decreased. Planning to make a trip soon - what are some of the items I should definitively avoid? Edit: There seems to be a lot of stuff I need to avoid lol submitted by /u/DJ_Hamster to r/aldi [link] [comments]

Unpopular opinion: Aldi is awful
It seems like a sin in this group to say this, but I'm irked everytime I see the recommendation "shop at Aldi." I have visited multiple stores, in multiple states, multiple times. I almost exclusively eat from the produce section (fruits, veggies, dry beans, and seasonings). Aldi offers, in total, maybe half a dozen produce options. Every single time, the quality is awful. I've seen entire refrigerators full of visibly rotting and molding food. And it's rarely cheaper! I do so much better shopping the sales at several grocery stores. I can't imagine I'm the only one who has had this experience, right? ETA - I should have mentioned that my experience is based on shopping in the midwestern and mountain western US. I don't purchase anything frozen, canned, or boxed, so I can't attest to the quality or pricing of those products. I generally shop at a local Mexican or Indian grocer for bulk 5-10 lb bags of dry beans (I usually have 5-10 varieties in my pantry). I'm well aware that I probably have odd eating habits, but it works for me, nutritionally, fiscally, and taste wise. submitted by /u/jansyoungtherapist to r/Frugal [link] [comments]
