A few days ago he confessed he is disgusted by my body hair and wants me to get laser done on my forearms, private area and legs. At first I said no because I accept my body as it is and he’s never expressed any complains about my hair before. Tbh you can’t really see my forearm hair, it’s just a bit of very subtle blonde hair, I wax my legs once a month and groom my private area as often as needed. I’m not even a hairy person. He elaborated on how it disgusts him to look at it and gags at the thought of touching it. At first I thought he was looking for a dumb excuse to break up but he was dead serious about it. So I agreed to compromise and bleach my forearm hair because I don’t want to wax or shave it. He said even if bleaching it would make the hair practically invisible he’d still know it’s there and feel disgusted about it. He told me I had to get it permanently laser removed as well as my crotch and legs. I said I don’t mind having my legs done with laser, but I’m not even sure they can fully and completely remove all of the hair in my crotch area and while I don’t mind temporarily fully shaving/waxing it if that makes him happy, I don’t want to have all of it laser removed because that’s my choice and I don’t feel I should be pressured into doing it. I compromised and agreed to at least think about lasering the crotch area but if he wanted me to laser remove my forearms and legs it was only fair he’d pay for it. He refused saying it doesn’t cost that much and since it’d be a permanent improvement on my body and I’d be the one benefiting from it, I should be the one paying for it. I took offense to these comments because I don’t consider lasering body hair an ‘upgrade’ or ‘body improvement’. I asked again if he was looking to start a fight to break up because the situation seemed too bizarre. He said if I wasn’t willing to sacrifice something this silly to make him happy what else wouldn’t I be willing to sacrifice further down the road? He said he loves me and wants to build a future together but I’m not taking his happiness into consideration and this is a deal breaker for him. She's offered to take the cost of it from my deposit, so that's one less worry in my mind. I think I got everything covered so far. I was initially thinking of breaking up with him in a coffee shop and wanted to give him a piece of my mind but I think I'm just gonna do it over the phone the second everything is out from my apartment and I'm at my brothers. Almost straight away he sent me a video of him from a different number crying his eyes out to the camera saying he loves me I’m ruining his life, he had great plans for me and is only guilty of wanting me to achieve my full potential as a woman. I deleted it and blocked that number too. A couple hours later he sent me yet another video of him from yet another different phone number saying I took things too far by posting it online and making him ‘go viral’ and he’s not a pedophile and why wasn’t I answering the door. I didn’t finish watching that one either. My brother called him on that number and said if he didn’t leave me alone we’d go to the police so he better quits harassing me. He’s since stopped bothering me. I cried a lot the first day because I was in so much pain inside but then it hit me, as much as I thought I loved him, nobody that shitty deserves me crying over him. His shitty attitude has helped me get over him pretty quickly, although of course I’m still hurt over the disappointment he turned out to be. But being with my brother (I moved in with him in another city) and my puppy is keeping me very distracted. Just wanted to share my little “oops” moment in case anyone else is stressing about IPL routines. I started using Ulike Air 10 a couple months ago, and in the beginning I went too hard. I was convinced that using it 3x a week, shaving super obsessively, and trying to hit every single hair follicle like a sniper would somehow make the results faster. But it didn’t. During my first few weeks I treated it like a full-time job, then zapping every tiny patch multiple times “just in case.” Between shaving and IPL I was easily spending an hour+ every session. I burned out by week 5 and basically rage-quit the whole thing. This time, I decided to chill. Once a week, same day, after a normal shower shave. No perfectionism, no checking for invisible hairs under 800 different lighting angles. I just use it on level 4, one pass everywhere. I will say the ice-cooling thing makes it easier to actually stick to the routine because at least my skin isn’t yelling at me afterward. I checked my old notes and the results are literally the same as when I was treating it like a part-time job. Patchy regrowth, slower, softer, all happening again, except now the entire routine takes like 15 minutes instead of an hour and a half. So if anyone else is feeling overwhelmed: once a week is honestly enough. I 29F have been talking with a 29M, he mentioned prior to a potential first date about shaving my arms, I laughed it off as if the first date goes well I’ll consider it. Then there was no conversation for a couple of days and so the date didn’t happen. He has come back now and explained it’s a turn off from him, I asked for clarity and found out his expectation is hairless for the first date. I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced this kind of expectation or similar for a first date? Whether this is quite a normal request? Everyone with laser hair removal seems sooo happy about it. I’m pretty close to taking the leap. Aside from the cost and discomfort of treatment, are there any downsides, risks, long-term consequences? Or is it really all sunshine and rainbows?? EDIT: summary/main points - majority of respondents are very pleased w results, felt it was worth the money and wished they had done it sooner! - not effective on lighter hair: blonde, red, grey, light brown. As a poster explained, the laser targets melanin. Some still achieved results w more aggressive/frequent treatments - dangerous mole mutations/growths were mentioned, this is a serious consideration - many advise against doing the entire Brazilian area because it’s nice to have the option when you’re older - some warned about regrowth following hormonal changes ie pregnancy - for a few, numerous treatments were inexplicably ineffective - surprisingly, pain associated w treatment did not seem a factor. Not sure if this was impacted by the post specifications - electrolysis is a solid alternative (if not more effective) and some love their IPL device - there’s a risk of hyperpigmentation if the body reacts a certain way - highly recommended by respondents that experienced painful ingrown hairs prior to treatment This has been so fun! I (15F) hate my sister in law (31F). There was a whole thing with her and my brother (her husband) but I won’t go into detail. My brother sent her back to her home country after a big altercation happened between them and she lived there for a couple months with her child (my niece). My mum felt bad for my niece because our home country is not really safe and most of the people there are living in poverty so she told my brother to make them come back to where we are so that she was safe. My brother agreed his wife and my niece came back but he doesn’t want them to live with him but he wants them to live with us. They came back and don’t get me wrong I love my niece but my sister in law thinks that I’m the one who should be taking care of her all the time because it’s “giving her a break” but all she does is sit on her phone all day and lay in bed and me and my family have to take care of my niece. Ever since she moved in with us, I’ve noticed my stuff gone missing or is running out and it’s because of her, I mean she could just of just asked me if she wanted something? She always wants to join into my conversations which are none of her business and always barging into my room like have you ever heard of privacy. She doesn’t know how to properly wash dishes as well and everything she washes always is still dirty after and it’s really annoying because I have to wash everything again. I don’t think she has any commonsense as well cause my niece is still a baby and can make mess sometimes but when she makes a mess, my sister in law doesn’t even bother to clean it up she just stares at it and expects me or my mum to clean it up like what? You’re her mother!!! Even in public when my niece makes a mess I get second hand embarrassment because again she doesn’t clean it up and expects someone else to do it she’s such a bad mother.
