Rescued a pregnant stray cat and worried she might be very young – advice?
Hi everyone, I could really use some advice. A few days ago I rescued a stray cat from outside and brought her back home. She’s very sweet and affectionate, but I quickly realized she’s pregnant. I’m a little worried because she seems fairly small and young. Some details: • She has pink/enlarged nipples and a pear-shaped belly. • I can sometimes feel little kitten movements when she’s resting. • She has good energy, grooms herself, and uses the litter box regularly. • I’ve been feeding her canned kitten food (about two cans a day). • She spends a lot of time near me and seems comfortable in the home. She seems to be doing very well. She has pink gums, Acting normal, eating her canned kitten food, drinking and using the litter box etc. My main concern is that she might be a young cat, and I want to make sure I’m doing everything possible to keep her safe and healthy during the pregnancy. A few questions: Is it common for younger/smaller cats to have healthy pregnancies? Is there anything extra I should be doing nutritionally or environmentally? Any tips for preparing for the birth if you rescued a pregnant stray before? I really want to give her the best chance and make sure both she and the kittens are safe. Any advice or experience would mean a lot. Thank you! UPDATE: I’ve seen a lot of comments suggesting that I spay and abort my cat and asking why I haven’t taken her to a vet yet. I want to clarify a few things. I’ve only had her for a couple of days. She is already quite far along in her pregnancy—about 6–8 weeks—and at this stage, an abortion may not be safe for her. I’m making her safety and well-being my top priority. Before she came to me, she was living on the streets, without proper food, shelter, or care. In a high stress environment. I believe she is much better off now in a calm, safe home with proper nutrition than continuing to struggle outside. I will still be taking her to a vet ASAP but an abortion at this point may not be recommended. My goal is to make sure she has a healthy pregnancy, safe birth, (unless my vet says otherwise) and access to care afterward, including spaying once the kittens are weaned. I understand that some people strongly recommend spaying and terminating pregnancies for stray cats to prevent overpopulation, and I respect that perspective. At the same time, I want to do what’s safest for her given her current stage and my ability to care for her. I’m committed to providing her and her kittens with the best care possible. Final update: I’ve read all the advice and it’s been really helpful. No need to keep spamming me to abort and spay the cat. The last thing I want is for her life to be at risk for the sake of giving birth. I will be taking her to a vet asap to get her the best treatment she needs. submitted by /u/Maryec2024 to r/CATHELP [link] [comments]

What was the last energy drink that made you feel this way?
For me, today I tried a can of Plant Press energy drink. Supposedly healthy, 100 mg caffeine, watermelon flavor, what could go wrong? Right after I took my first sip and received no watermelon flavor whatsoever, just the bitter taste of bad sparkling water and something else indescribable, I had to pour it down the sink. I bought four other cans of the stuff because they were on sale, but I guess those are going in the garbage. submitted by /u/TFJ to r/energydrinks [link] [comments]

How would you rank the major energy drink brands? Here's my attempt
I've been going deep on comparing energy drink brands; ingredients, value, taste reputation, transparency; and tried to rank them. Curious how this lines up with what you all think: Red Bull — 84/100 → Premium king. Consistent quality, global reach. You're paying for the brand but it delivers Monster — 80 → Best variety/value. The Ultra line basically created the zero-sugar energy category Ghost — 78 → Transparency is their edge. Fully disclosed labels, collab flavors that actually deliver C4 — 74 → Great fitness crossover but still finding its identity as a standalone energy drink Celsius → "Healthy" positioning works but some claims feel like a stretch I wrote up full breakdowns on each if anyone wants the deep dive (happy to share in comments). What's your ranking? What brand is most over/underrated right now? submitted by /u/Ultra_Necairus to r/energydrinks [link] [comments]

I’m on Adderall XR and don’t eat anymore. I just drink energy drinks.
I was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD as an adult and I’m on Adderall XR 25mg now. It helps, but it also makes me feel… off. Like spacey but at the same time my eyes feel laser focused. It’s hard to explain. My brain is quieter, which is good, but my body doesn’t feel fully normal. The biggest issue is I don’t eat. I wake up, take my Adderall, and crack open an Alani. Before that it was Red Bull. I drink 4–5 energy drinks a day and barely feel hunger. By the end of the day I feel drained, weird, and disconnected from myself physically. I have inattentive ADHD, so my whole life I’ve been fighting just to function normally. I’ve spent the past 8 years trying to rebuild myself and become the best, most stable version of myself for my kids. I lost custody when I was 20, and that lit something in me that never went away. Everything I do now is about becoming someone they can rely on and be proud of. This medication helps in some ways, but I don’t know if feeling this detached and not eating is normal or healthy. I don’t know if it’s the Adderall, the caffeine, or both. For yall with inattentive ADHD on Adderall XR, did you feel spacey and hyper-focused at the same time when you started? Did your appetite ever come back? And did you have to cut out caffeine completely? submitted by /u/pizzaaliengal to r/adhdwomen [link] [comments]

Consuming lots of energy drinks may raise heart disease and stroke risk. A fit and healthy man in his 50s had a stroke and was left with permanent numbness in his hands and feet. He drank an average of 8 energy drinks a day, totaling 1,200mg of caffeine. The recommended maximum intake is 400mg.

I feel like the only way I lose weight is through energy drinks and starving myself. Nothing else works.
I’m 27F, 5’2, currently 151 lbs. A few months ago I was 145, and it felt like I was finally making progress. But now it’s like my body refuses to drop even a single pound unless I’m running on caffeine and empty. Every time I try to eat “normally”—even clean, even low-cal—I either maintain or gain. If I have carbs? Bloated. If I hit 1400–1500 cals? Nothing changes. If I work out but eat? No shift. The only time I see the scale drop is when I’m fasting most of the day and living off energy drinks. I know that’s not sustainable. I know that’s not healthy. But I’m exhausted. It feels like my metabolism is broken. Everyone says to eat enough, move your body, be kind to yourself—but when I do that, my weight climbs. I’m scared that I’ve permanently messed up my body. Or that I’m just not meant to be smaller unless I suffer. I hate that my brain sees a Monster or Celsius and goes: “Finally, a weight loss plan.” It shouldn’t be that way. But it works. And I hate that it works. Has anyone gone through this? Where fasting and caffeine are the only things that seem to make a dent? How do you transition into real, consistent fat loss without starving yourself or feeling like a failure? I’m not asking for toxic positivity. I just want to know there’s another way. Because right now? It feels like I’m stuck in this cycle forever. submitted by /u/nadeean to r/intermittentfasting [link] [comments]

Energy drinks aren't bad for you, prove me wrong
Caffeine: as long as you are a healthy adult you can have 400mg+ of caffeine a day and the average energy drink has around 200mg so if you don't have over 2 a day you should be fine. Also per fluid oz coffee has more caffeine then the top 2 energy drinks (monster and Red Bull) Artificial sweeteners: hundreds of study's suggest that the effects of artificial sweeteners are negligible and the few that say it's bad for you tend to be outdated or unable to be reproduced outside the lab. Artificial dyes: personally I think they're isn't enough concrete evidence to say there bad but even if you do a large amount of energy drinks do use dyes. Preservatives: it is very used in many product just energy drinks and are considered safe by the FDA, RUN and meny others. Would actually like to here any good arguments other than "it's chemicals" and "it's artificial" as no one has been able to tell me what exactly is bad in them or what the bad ingredient is and what if you just get a drink without that one ingredient. submitted by /u/Mountain-Letter-4284 to r/energydrinks [link] [comments]

TIL in 2017 a healthy 16-year-old boy died from drinking several highly-caffeinated drinks too quickly. He drank a McDonald's latte, a large Mountain Dew soft drink, and an energy drink in just under two hours, which caused a "caffeine-induced cardiac event causing a probable arrhythmia".

My husband refuses to drink any water. He only drinks monster energy drinks and (rarely) orange juice. He's been doing this for 10+ years. He gets frequent headaches and stomach problems, but refuses to believe it's from this bc he's been doing it for so long. Is this normal for men, please explain?
Is it common for men not to drink any water? Is there some kind of aversion to it I'm not aware about? Overall he's really healthy it's just this water thing. EDIT I should have clarified in my original post- I meant healthy as in he has a very healthy fresh diet food-wise, and he exercises frequently, normal bmi/no weight issues. No skin issues, no health complications-yet. submitted by /u/babyoleander to r/AskMenAdvice [link] [comments]

If you’re constantly tired and constantly drinking caffeine or snacking to stay awake, please read up on sleep apnea. I save $400+ a month now on “energy drinks” and Diet Cokes since being diagnosed after 10 years of constant fatigue.
Long story short, I’d sleep 7+ hours and still feel incredibly tired. I’m healthy (fairly active, travel constantly, hike every weekend) and still felt like complete crap by 4pm every day unless it was the weekend and I could sleep in for 12 hours. I was spending about $150-200 a month on Diet Coke alone and would overeat for lunch/snacks/dinner since it’d give me a jolt of energy. In passing, I told my doctor at a physical I was peeing 7-8 times each night and it’s normally 3-4. He told me 3-4 was not normal either and signed me up for a sleep test. Lo and behold, I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea (something I never even knew about), got a CPAP and 6 months later save about $400 a month just by having enough energy and “mindfulness” to not be snacking constantly. I’ve started eathing healthier since so much of weight loss is mental stamina, and now I have that. If you have constant fatigue, please consider a test! submitted by /u/RainbowCrown71 to r/Frugal [link] [comments]

100 days sober from Energy Drinks!
I left the Coast Guard 100 days ago. I also have had my last energy drink on my last day of watch. It's crazy to think and a bit of emotional day. I would drink energy drinks every day in the service. Definitely not healthy but I needed the caffeine.Once I left I made a promise to myself to quit them. Today I got the notification that I had made 100 days. I feel better and more focused. If your getting out, it maybe a good idea to try to get rid of some of those habits if you have the bandwidth to do so. submitted by /u/Soaring_Albatross to r/Veterans [link] [comments]

Negative effects of drinking too many energy drinks.
Back in October 2023, I came home from the army and I was drinking probably 5-7 sometimes more energy drinks a day. But I stopped for sometime and I drink 0-1 every now and then. Will I have negative long term effects Even though I stopped? I haven’t drank an energy drink in about a month until this morning. (Bucked up Miami) I’m 22 pretty healthy and active. I drink a lot of water everyday. Energy drinks I was drinking: Reign, Monster cold brew nitro infused coffee ( this was the main one since my dad bought them in bulk for work) Edit: I appreciate all of your responses. Thanks for your help and courtesy🫡 submitted by /u/Wolf1776_17_76 to r/energydrinks [link] [comments]

ELI5: Why are energy drinks and the like so dangerous?
Working around people who drink 5 or 6 energy drinks a day for years. Also, consume 1 or 2 a day on average. Keep seeing everyone talk about how dangerous they are, yet nothing about what makes them dangerous. Edit: Answers to questions. Wow, thanks for all the info. Amazing feedback! Based on feedback, I'd like to specify and give some info on my own. To get more detailed info if possible. Reign energy drinks have 300mg caffeine. I've seen people crush a 12 pack in 2 or 3 days. What are the risks they are giving themselves? The sugar-free ones are not usually consumed, but I have some, and they have 200mg caffeine in each. I also drink those 5 hour energy drinks too but I will substitute 1 5-hour drink for 1 energy drink and will never consume more than 3 in a day. Is that still within a healthy limit? My routine is as follows: Wake up, eat breakfast within 2 hours. Drink 1 energy booster an hour or 2 after that, and then wait 4-5 hours and drink another. I have a hard stop on all caffeine and sugar 5 hours before bedtime to help get down off the energy high and sleep better. A lot of people talked about the sugar and the sugar free drinks. Yet, I see a lot of sugar substitutions like Sucralose, Stevia, aspartame, etc... I have no idea if these are better/safer than actual sugar but I do consume sugar free variants from time to time. I guess a more detailed title would be, as someone with high heart risks, what are the dangerous levels of caffeine, sugar, and sugar substitutes for me to consume? I'm wondering now if there is anything else in these drinks that could be a harm. I've read the labels on the ones I have and I'm seeing "proprietary blend" on several of them. The ingredients listed afterward are vague and little contact is given. Anyone know what is in them? Edit #2: Info about why I started drinking them and what led to this post. I work 17 hour days for 15 days straight. I get 7 hours between shifts to shower and sleep. Pretty much go go go till I get days off. The first day or 2, I die and hardly get out of bed. I started drinking energy drinks to keep me going, but if I drink them on days off, it is because I'm having caffeine withdrawals and a huge headache. My wife is super worried about me because I have a history of heart disease in my family, and too much could easily do serious damage. Can I cold turkey quit energy drink? Will it have any effects other than the severe headache I've already experienced from trying to refrain? Edit 3: Again, thank you so much. I feel a big change for the better coming in my life, and this amazing community is to thank for a lot of info, details, thought-provoking questions, guidance, and more. Since a lot of people are asking what I do. I will share a post I made. If you would like to discuss things about my job, why reasons behind my energy drink use, then here: Post about finding another job. The people I work with are borderline insane, even waking up an hour or 2 early and driving to a gym every day. I've been invited, but even after a year, I don't have the energy to go work out for an hour and then go work a 17-hour shift. Edit 4: Just to relieve some of the concern on my personal health I have guidelines and strict rules I follow. I don't consume more than 3 energy products in a single day. Usually limit myself to 2 a day. When available I avoid gas station or fast food and eat fruits and veggies as much as possible. I drink protein shakes, probiotic supplements, and cut all sugar and caffeine off at a hard cut 5 hours before the end of my shift so my body can rest before I sleep. I also drink tons of water, which is always available and provided by the company. In my off time, I limit my caffeine intake to curb the withdrawal and still take a daily vitamin, protein shakes, probiotics, and severely limit my sugar intake. By the time I go back to work I've usually accomplished a full rest and reset so the cycle resets instead of carrying over. In a way I'm doing what I can in the circumstances I've brought upon myself. All this feedback is insane but I'm caught up and have read each and every comment and reply. I'm honored to have the feedback and appreciate everyone so much. submitted by /u/tbohrer to r/explainlikeimfive [link] [comments]

AITA for selling an energy drink to a kid?
I'm (22F) from Europe. I work in a store which markets itself as a drugstore but has lots of other stuff too (toys, clothing, food and drinks, home decoration, lots of stuff but the main focus is drug store items). In my country, there are no laws on energy drinks, although the packaging usually warns it's not recommended for kids under the age of 13, pregnant women, etc. A few supermarket chains have rules; only 14 and up can buy energy drinks, but the store that I work at does not have such a rule, thus we can legally sell it to anyone. So I was working at the cash register, it was a hot day so people bought a lot of drinks. This little kid comes up to me with a small can of Monster energy (330ml) and a €20 bill. I am guessing he was between 8 and 10 years old. No parents in sight. I hesitated for a second because he did seem really young, but old enough to go to a store on his own. He paid, I gave him his drink and change, and I thought that was the end of the story. Turns out his mom was waiting outside of the store, storms in, screams at the kid for getting an energy drink while the kid makes excuses like "you said I could buy something to drink and this is a drink!". Mom sees me and shouts at me how I could possibly sell a child an energy drink and asks what's wrong with me. She tried to tell me it's illegal but I know it's not. She was definitely both angry at me and her son, but I can't see what I did wrong as she could have gone into the store with him instead of giving him money to pay himself. I expected the mom to return the can and ask for her money back, but she didn't so I think she either threw it away or let the kid drink it. I really keep wondering whether I did the wrong/right thing, so please help me out. Edit: adding that we do have other policies concerning a minimum age: 18yo for scratch tickets, 16yo for medication like paracetamol and cough syrup. No other age restrictions, meaning it's a deliberate choice of the company I work for to NOT have a policy for energy drinks. Lastly adding I'm located in the Netherlands so if you are Dutch and happen to know more about these policies, feel free to share. Edit2: thanks everyone for giving your point of view. I feel a lot better about it now and the mom should have been a better parent in this situation. I do agree with it not being healthy for kids and minors. If it happens again, I'll know what to do and ask if there's a parent present with the kid. This post got a lot more attention than I anticipated, I'm trying to read most of the comments so thank you for giving your opinion :) submitted by /u/crybabymoon to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Kids should need their parents with them to buy energy drinks.
To start off, I'm 14. There's a few kids who vape in my school and one or two kids who smoke weed, but the biggest addiction I've seen so far is monster energy. There's people who regularly fall asleep in class when they don't drink at least 2 cans at lunch. They keep themselves up until like 5am because they always have the "backdoor" of a can of concentrated sugar and caffeine. (Gets annoying as shit the next day) This is why, in my opinion, energy drinks should be limited for minors. I get it- you have an exam and need a pick-me-up, but once you have to have a can every day at lunch or you're in a bad mood, that's unhealthy. Just my thoughts on the matter and I get it if you disagree, but kids are blowing so much money on this shit it's not healthy Edit: it's obviously better than hard drugs but still bad lmao submitted by /u/Soupnoop4 to r/unpopularopinion [link] [comments]

Selling sweets near supermarket checkouts and offering two-for-one deals on junk food will be banned under government campaign against childhood obesity...also considering barring cartoons from promoting junk food and consulting on making it illegal to sell energy drinks to anyone under 16.
