Meal prepping at Sundays are a game changer for me
I work at the Construction industry and normally 7 am ang pasok for people like us. Last month I bit the bullet and bought cube trays to try meal prepping (which at first I thought was wasteful). And I should say na it really helped me with my mornings kasi I just pop out my food and thats it, okay na yung food ko for the day. I just microwave it for about 2 mins then it’s good to eat na, mas healthy and intentional narin yung kinakain ko everyday and tipid pa. I hope makatulong to sa ating mga adulting peeps just like me. submitted by /u/Lelelelegurl to r/adultingph [link] [comments]

7 hr Meal Prep with ADHD and no kitchen
Just finished my freezer-bound meal prepping! This is the second time I’ve done freezer meals this way, two weeks ago was the first. I’m loving it! The food tastes way better than 4th day leftovers of the same old meal from the fridge. I don’t meal prep for gym or macros or anything like that, just to save money on eating out and fast food and time/energy throughout the week and avoid eating highly processed tv dinners/canned soups. So please be aware these aren’t necessarily “healthy” meals or weight loss centered; just want homemade meals ready to throw in oven :) Top row first left to right) Chicken and spinach stuffed pasta shells, bacon/spinach/gruyere breakfast egg cups, 3 ziploc bags with salsa verde instant pot chicken, corn salsa, and the remaining instant pot leftovers liquid (which tbh I prepped last night which is why they’re already frozen in the pic) Bottom row left to right) cabbage rolls stuffed with spicy sausage filling, shepherd’s pie but with a hashbrown cubed potato mixture instead of regular mashed potatoes, broccoli with cheesy bechamel sauce and the two big trays are asparagus which are roasting currently at the time of writing this. I know that may not seem like a ton of food for that amount of time but I don’t have an actual kitchen, it’s a 8’x10’ kitchenette. No oven, so I can only cook a 9x9 or half cooking sheet at a time in my countertop air fryer/mini oven combo. No regular stovetop/range, so I can only cook maybe one or two pans at a time on my little 2-burner plugin stove. The table you see in the first picture that all the food is laud out on is a 6” plastic folding table and that’s my “counter space” to prep stuff on. There is no dishwasher so I had to stop a few times and hand-wash a sink full of dishes and still have a sink full to do now :) It was also never intended to be a full kitchen when it was built and the wiring shows that. I can’t run more than one or two electronic appliances at once without tripping the breaker and I actually permanently fried one of the outlets when making dinner in the past, so it really stretches the time because I have to “fire” everything one thing at a time pretty much. I found out the other night, if I run the mini oven and *both* the burner tops at the same? That trips the breaker 🙄. ADHD is just the cherry on top and adds easily distracted, clumsy, scatterbrained when it comes to the order of things, etc to the mix. So yeah, maybe this really shouldn’t take so long to do for a regular person in a regular kitchen but I am REALLY proud of myself and it is SO worth it!!! If anyone else is in a similar situation as me: every dollar you save now is a dollar towards owning your house with your perfect kitchen! Every minute you save weeknights cooking is a minute you can put towards building your life for years to come!!! You can *do* this, you *can* meal prep!!! Don’t let not having all the fancy equipment and a huge cooking space stop you! I also added a couple pictures of the “pretty” food before it got portioned out for the freezer and a snapshot of the salsa chicken meal assembled as tacos. Last picture is me smiling through the pain and exhaustion of cooking for 7 hrs straight wearing my MuMu covered in food mess; plus a better look at my makeshift “kitchen”. submitted by /u/phoebestars69 to r/MealPrepSunday [link] [comments]

I tell my friends I’m meal prepping every Sunday but I’m really just ordering takeout and putting it in containers
They always talk about how productive their Sundays are cooking, cleaning, getting their week together. So I started saying I do meal prep too. Truth is I just order a bunch of takeout, portion it into containers, and throw out the evidence before they come over. They’ll open my fridge, see neat little rows of food, and go “Wow you’re so organized” Meanwhile I’m nodding like yeah I totally made that chicken teriyaki myself. Last weekend I was sitting there playing myprize and eating one of my “prepped” meals and realized I’ve been living a double life as a fake healthy person. Not proud but also kind of proud. submitted by /u/GreenAuspices to r/confession [link] [comments]

What are your go-to easy, healthy, and tasty meals when life gets busy?
I’ve been trying to eat healthier without spending hours in the kitchen. By “healthy,” I mean meals made from fresh, high-quality ingredients — not ultra-processed stuff — and with a decent nutritional balance. One of my favorite no-brainer recipes is a one-pot oven rice with chicken thighs and veggies. Here’s how I do it: In a large dish, I spread rice at the bottom with a drizzle of olive oil and a generous amount of spices (paprika, cumin, garlic powder, you name it). I add water just to cover the rice, then layer chopped vegetables on top — usually carrots, eggplant, broccoli… (frozen to save even more time) Finally, I place the chicken thighs on top, also coated in spices. Pop it in the oven at 180°C (~350°F) for about 30 minutes. That’s it! It’s tasty, super simple, and works great for meal prep. Curious to hear what your favorite fast & healthy meals are — especially the kind that save time and still taste great. Bonus points if it’s a one-pot wonder too. submitted by /u/Toufil_the_pain to r/mealprep [link] [comments]

30 day meal prep. I can finally sleep 😌😴
I ran out of meals from my previous meal prep so it was finally time to do the grand cook. I decided to use Jack Ovens recipes again while adjusting the recipe to my needs and nutritional and portion goals. From these that i tried they're overall really tasty, especially the meatballs (didn't think it would be all that but I was very wrong haha). One thing to note, if you are doing high quantities, the meatballs can be quite time consuming if you care for macros and portion sizes. How would you spend $500 on frozen food/meal prep?
My wife and I just got back from her baby shower. One of the nicest, and admittedly unorthodox, gifts we recieved is a $500 Costco gift card from my dad. He specifically wrote in the card that he bought it to pay for frozen food for our first several months of nights where neither of us feel like cooking. Considering that we have plenty of diapers now, we're wondering how we can best use this gift. Ideally we're looking for quick foods that are decently healthy and easy to prepare for when we're running on two hours of sleep. Thanks for the ideas! submitted by /u/belugiaboi37 to r/Costco [link] [comments]

“You eat the same thing every day!?” - 7 day weight loss meal prep
Here is another week laid out after last night’s prep. Roast chicken (breast and thighs), brown rice, broccoli Flank steak and onions, brown rice, sweet potato, broccoli Weighed/Portioned: 8oz protein, 100g rice, ~4oz ea. broccoli, sweet potato, onions. Roughly 500-600 cal per meal. 3 cups rice in the rice cooker, 4 whole sweet potatoes in the steam basket above the rice, runs on brown rice mode. Chicken breasts and thighs, seasoned generously with curry powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper baked in the oven at 380 for 15-20m, I pulled the chicken breasts at 15 and the thighs at 20. Slice onions, sautéed with oil, salt and pepper. Set aside. Flank steak seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic both sides cooked on a hot skillet (whole) 4-5 minutes each side, then reduced heat to finish another 3-4 minutes. Remove steak, set pan to high heat, use cooking wine on pan to deglaze. Once reduced, goes into the onions. 2 bags Broccoli florets go in the microwave, per instructions (steam in bag). Makes 7 servings each, lunches and dinners. Breakfast each day is quick oats, 2 scoops protein powder, cinnamon, tbsp of maple syrup and a handful of blueberries. Total cost is roughly $75-$100 a week, falls between 1500-1700 calories per day and takes about 1-1.5 hr in the kitchen. Yes, week after week and day after day for a few months now, it’s the same meals daily. Except for Fridays at lunch, when I eat whatever I feel like ordering along with my once weekly pint at a favorite haunt. Having meals prepared means I don’t skip meals ending up hungry and overeating later. Helps me stick to the macro targets without varying total daily calories and at this point requires no thought, having become habit. It is covering all the bases to achieve my goals, and it all tastes great! submitted by /u/Bananas_Cognac to r/MealPrepSunday [link] [comments]

AITA for Eating My Roommate’s MealPrepped Meals?
My (m27) roommate(m29) and I have lived together for eight months. We paired up through mutual friends and we are mostly very compatible. Recently, we’ve started working out together as something fun and healthy to do together. So since I’m lifting more, my metabolism is going insane. I’m taking in like 4000 calories or more to feel satisfied. Here’s why I might be TA. My roommate meal preps every Friday for his week (He’s a retail manager and his workweek is Sunday to Thursday). On Friday, we worked out in the morning and I had a steak and egg burrito + my usual smoothie. I went to work, but was stuck in meetings the whole day so I didn’t have time to eat until we met with friends for dinner. I had a salad and prawns to start + fajitas for the main. When we got back, we had sex (which isn’t relevant at all but does explain why else I would be so hungry) and then he went to sleep but I couldn’t sleep because I was starving. It’s the middle of the night. The only thing we have that’s quick are his meals. And I ate until I felt full. The next day, he woke me up stressed about the meals, and I told him what I had done. All he could say was, what the fuck is wrong with me? He started freaking out and crying, and I offered to buy him lunch for the week. He didn’t accept that, called me a selfish AH and just left the house. Is this really that big a deal? Edit/Update: Okay! I hear you all loud and clear! I am a giant asshole! I just assumed that buying him takeout would suffice for my fuckup. I looked up what y’all were saying about safe foods and what all that entails for people with EDs. Didn’t realize it wasn’t an easy fix. I’m stubborn and arrogant and I know that. I’m in therapy, please shut up about it. I still don’t see why so many of you are so hung up on the fact that we’re fwb but whatever. I’m going to apologize and find out how he’d like me to fix it. Thanks for the death threats. Second Edit/Update: I feel dumb for being so arrogant about this. I signed up to a meal kit subscription thing and I’ll try that cause they provide the recipes and the ingredients. Maybe that’ll transition into better habits. Gonna give my roommate some space for now, per his request, and then work out how to support him cause I didn’t mean to potentially cause him to relapse. I’m just a dummy, among other things. Thanks to some of you all, fuck you to most of you all, esp you sex-obsessed freaks who think I’m cheating on my fwb who is equally as enm as I am) submitted by /u/Other-Energy-1505 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

LPT: if you suspect you caught covid or your only other live-in partner gets symptoms before you, meal-prep and prepare. Get groceries (delivered if you can), make a giant pot of soup to last the week etc. don't wait until you're bed ridden because it will be hell
We have a bubble with one other couple and She's had symptoms since Sunday. Her bf didn't make any preparations before he started showing symptoms last night (4 days later) and now they're both stuck in bed with no energy to prepare anything that would be good for their health. My partner started showing symptoms late last night as well so I've made enough food and got enough groceries that we won't have to prepare too much and I feel this was the right thing to do. Good luck out there ✌️ ETA: I'm getting a lot of responses who are misunderstanding my tip so I'm gonna try to clear this up. I'm suggesting getting groceries delivered to your door so that you don't go out and infect anyone, if you don't have this option please opt for curbside pickup and avoid going in to stores or anywhere you could infect people. And I'm suggesting doing it before you show symptoms because there is a very real possibility that once you start to exhibit symptoms then you will be stuck in bed or too exhausted to do anything. My friend had ample time to make any kind of preparations like food delivery or meal prep and he chose to do nothing and now wishes he also had done something, so I'm providing you his cautionary tale so that you don't find yourselves in this position. Edit 2: some commenters have added some great ideas for prep: Preparing some soup and freezing it, or some spaghetti sauce or chilli, order lots of fresh fruit and vegetables that are easy to prepare and eat, get some stuff to help manage symptoms like cough drops perhaps! Frozen food you can put in the oven is quick and simple also. Thank you! U/advice-239400 The Voila pasta and veggie bags in the frozen veggie section are life savers!! Thanks! U/bleepin_bleep For anybody who's curious Walmart has a pretty good deal with "walmart+" which is basically just delivery for food and such at like 10 bucks a month and you can start a free 30 day trial with answering 3-5 questions. Thank you! U/somewhiteguys GrubHub and ubereats is always an option too guys if you have the means! Thanks u/supercharged0709 Thank you for everyone's input and suggestions! RIP my inbox there are way too many messages to get through so I'll save it for another day. Happy new year everyone! Meal Prep 101 - Your Complete Guide to Meal Prepping!
Welcome! If you've been following my journey, you know that I highly advocate meal prepping. If you haven't been following me, Hi! I'm u/hxcjosh23 and I love meal prepping! Personal Background I'll keep this short and sweet. I've lost 122 lbs since March of 2016, all via CICO and using myfitnesspal to track. I've always loved cooking and the culinary arts. I've been meal prepping almost every weekend since March of 2016. I've been asked to write a guide on meal prepping by u/zebratoes3838 and here it is! Benefits Why do I advocate for meal prepping so much? Remember when I said I lost all my weight via tracking my calories. Loosing weight is simple. You eat less calories than you burn. It's not always easy to follow this simple concept though. Meal prep makes this task easier. Stick to your goals Let's say my daily calorie goal is 1800. For my Meal Prep this week, my breakfast comes out to 209 calories, and lunch comes out to 521. 2/3rds of my meals are prepped and prelogged for the day. No figuring out what fast food place to go to today. I have 1070 calories left I can do whatever I want with. Someone brings donuts to work? Awesome, I can have one because I already have my meals and calories planned for the day. I can have a huge supper, or snacks and a smaller supper. Sometimes I have done breakfast, lunch and dinner preps so all 3 meals are planned and prelogged, leaving room for snacks too! Saves Money Cooking your meals in bulk costs much less than eating out all day. Your not only saving the cost of the food, but the time and gas it would take to get there. Most of my preps are from 25-50 dollars a week to make. That's breakfast and lunch included. If you really wanted to get super cheap, you could get a giant bag of rice and a giant bag of beans (I'm talking like 3 month supply here). Buy whatever meat is on sale that week, season and add veggies. Boom there's your prep for the next 3 months or so. Removes stress You don't have to worry or think about where your getting food all day since it's premade and ready to go! TL:DR 1 - Easier to meet calorie goals, cheaper, stress free What do I make?!? This is probably the hardest part of meal prep. What the heck do you make? There are so many possibilities! This is a great list of common spices and ingredients to have on hand First, let me give you a few of my sources for ideas. Chef Josh with the hookup! I've done plenty of Meal Preps you can look at. Pictures with step by step instructions included! My personal favorites include Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chicken Satay, Slow Cooker Beef and Broccoli! /r/MealPrepSunday /r/fitmeals /r/1500isplenty /r/1200isplenty /r/EatCheapAndHealthy And my favorite youtube channel with tons of easy and awesome meal preps - Fit Couple Cooks Budget Bytes is also great! Sometimes I just make it up on the fly right at the store. I start with a meat, since that's my favorite thing to eat. Do I want chicken, pork, steak, beef, fish or ham? Vegetarian? Beans and tofu are also great sources of protein. Once I decide on a protein, I'll think about what cuisine sounds good. Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Greek, BBQ? Next I select what veggies will complete the flavor profile. This is where you can get really creative, or just choose roasted broccoli since that's the best. For carbs, I typically stick to sweet potatos, brown rice, and quinoa as they are complex carbs and keep you fuller longer. I've even had preps where I take frozen lean cuisines, frozen steamed veggies, and frozen precooked, precut chicken strips. Cook the lean cusine, put the steamed veggies on top and add in some chicken. Boom Prep done!! Honestly, meal prep can be as easy or as hard as you make it. If I have a busy week, slow cooker or frozen prep it is. If I have some time, then I'll get a pinterest worth prep going. "But Josh, I just don't have time to prep, my life is just too busy" I hear that one a lot, and here is what I always say. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Right now, there is someone busier than you working out. I'm super busy. Last year while losing weight, I was raising a one year old, finishing school, working my full time job, doing a podcast, getting married, running the disc golf league in my town, traveling to tournaments..etc etc. Look. we are all busy, we all have stuff going on, and we all have time for meal prepping. It takes one hour out of your day. Maybe two or three if you do a super epic one, but most of mine range from 30 mins to an hour. Instead of finding excuses, find the time. It's there, and worth it. The Process The whole purpose of this guide! If you've already been prepping, this may help make the task easier for you! Alright, we got our recipe and we are ready to go! Here are some things I've learned a long the way to make meal prep faster and easier. Mise en place "(French pronunciation: [mi zɑ̃ ˈplas]) is a French culinary phrase which means "putting in place" or "everything in its place."" Some examples of it are here and here. LPT- It's super helpful to have a big bowl to store waste/garbage so your not running back and forth to the garbage can. I start by getting everything together, I premix my seasonings, premeasure oils/condiments if needed, and cut and weigh everything (writing down, IE: 160 Grams yellow onion, 200 Grams Bell peppers, etc) . Once I start cooking, I don't have to stop since everything is ready to go. Not only does it look pretty, it helps to stay organized and make the prep go by faster and easier! Once I have everything organized and my measurments written down, I open myfitnesspal on my phone. Hit the menu then choose Meals, Recipies & Foods. Click the Plus button at the top right. Name your meal, then scan and enter your ingredients into the app like so. As you can see, I put in the full ingredients used. Doesn't look useful for a simple recipie, but it certianly is for one that has more ingredients. Now when you go to add your meals for the day, you will click the meals tab, click the meal you made, and divide by your portions. Since my eggs made 6 portions , 100 divided by 6 comes out to 16%, and my lunches made 4 portions so thats .25. Let MFP do the math for you!. Making a prep for two people with different portion and calorie goals? Take the total weight of your food. Then take your portion out of the total. Weigh the food again, subtract and BAM! You've found your portion! Now you can start cooking. Since you followed mise en place, you have all your ingredients ready to go, your MFP dairy is ready for the week, and the fun begins! Follow your recpie, and if you have any downtime, use it for cleaning up! The more you do during the process, the less you have to do afterwards! Containers I use Fit Packer containers. Most people will swear by glass containers as they will last the longest. You can totally use whatever containers you have or find. The Fit Packer ones seem to be the best non glass ones I've come across. Storage Typically , I make 5 breakfasts and 4 lunches. I put my preps in the fridge and I've never had a problem with them spoiling or tasting off. I've tried freezing the ones I use later in the week and I didn't notice a difference so I stopped doing it. If your making preps for longer though, freezing certainly works as well. Conclusion Now you know everything there is to know! Meal Prep can seem daunting at first, but once you try it you'll find it fun and much easier than you think it is. I highly encourage you to give it a try. If you have any questions ask away! If you have preps you wanna show off, I wanna see em!! =) TL:DR 2 - Meal prep is awesome, easy, and anyone can do it. Combined with MFP it makes for a powerful tool to achieve your weight loss goals. submitted by /u/hxcjosh23 to r/loseit [link] [comments]
