Avoid Holafly eSIM
I can’t stress this enough. Do not buy the Holafly eSIM. It simply didn’t work for either me or my girlfriend and we wasted our full first day trying to get these resolved as we couldn’t pay for anything with no data/signal. The customer service was not helpful at all and had us going round in circles. If this hasn’t convinced you, we then did a food tour in Chengdu where 4 others in our group had originally bought the Holafly esim and it hadn’t worked for them at all either. That was 6 people out of a group of 10 that bought the Holafly eSIM and had ended up buying a different one because it didn’t work. Shocking from a company that looks to be trustworthy. Anyway, we ended up buying one from trip.com which has worked perfectly. And was half the price. So save yourself the stress submitted by /u/Junior_Head5051 to r/travelchina [link] [comments]

Issues with Holafly eSIM. Is it too late to change?
I’m in China at the moment, halfway through my 5 week trip. I’ve used Holafly previously no issues. However this time, I’ve been having issues with social media videos stuttering or not playing at all. I’m from Australia and I can’t watch AFL highlights as the playback just stops and never restarts. Messaging apps are working fine. No difference if I turn VPN on or off. One time just as I arrived in Beijing I lost signal altogether. Couldn’t call a Didi at all. Separate story but I had to use a cab and got scammed when the driver realised I had an issue. Got online with Holafly support and tried everything, eventually they replaced the eSIM saying it’s a VPN crackdown issue and it’s getting more and more common. New eSIM still has same stuttering and it’s driving me nuts. Is it too late to just get another eSIM? I’m not a heavy social media user, I just want to be able to scroll while I’m on the train etc. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. submitted by /u/One-Tomorrow8515 to r/chinatravel [link] [comments]

Holafly eSIM not working
I saw an Holafly ad on my recent flight and thought it might be a reliable eSIM, turns out I was veeeery wrong. I recently moved to a new country and haven’t had time to switch my phone number yet, so I thought why not choose Holafly as my eSIM. It worked perfectly the first day, but now it’s the third day and I barely have any connection at all. Now it’s not working 90% of the time, which is incredibly frustrating because I need internet for almost everything. I’ve spent a lot of money on this. Does anyone know if maybe a setting might be wrong or if it’s just the eSIM?? btw: this took like 10 tries to post because of my bad connection 😭😭 submitted by /u/Evening-Sky-5666 to r/eSIMs [link] [comments]

Nightmare experience with Holafly landing in HK
So based on the reco on this sub I ordered Holafly eSim for HK/Macau/China for my iPhone. Before take off from US Iinstalled and tried to activate it before boarding. 14 hours later landed at HKG, turned the line on, got 5 bars, but no internet. Found a seat at the airport and took out my laptop and did chat support. As usual, tier 1 support had me do everything: including manual network selection, reset the ios network settings back to factory, After 35 mins, they then said, oh, let me have you talk to technical support.... So tech support doubled check everything once again, no dice. Finally he said "I'm going to issue you a different eSIM. That one installed fine too, activated, and still no worky.! THEN he said, wait, you need to submit your passport to the government, and so I had to do that. Finally after 1.5 hrs on top of an 14 hour flight, that worked. But he couldn't explain to me: Why did this new eSIM requires China Mobile to verify my identity, when the first one didn't? It wasn't in the instruction they emailed at order time, it wasn't part of the debugging process for 1.4 hr. How is this eSIM different?? He couldn't answer, and it wasn't like this one with voice #. He just said it's part of the government requirement. And assured me that it works for HK/Macau/China just like the one I ordered. Now I'm paranoid: Will I have a problem inside China? Does this new one still has VPN built-in? Has anyone run into this before? submitted by /u/AngryBuddist to r/eSIMforTravelers [link] [comments]

Terrible experience with Holafly
My partner and I are currently 8 days into an 8 week Europe trip and decided to go with Holafly eSIMs on the unlimited plan. Everything worked perfectly up until today. We’re in Bordeaux and had been using our eSIMs all morning with no issues. Then around lunchtime, both of us suddenly lost service at the same time. No data at all. The timing couldn’t have been worse. We needed to organise public transport to go pick up our luggage and head to the airport, and without data we were basically stuck. We tried fixing it ourselves first (restarting phones, airplane mode on/off, checking settings etc.) but nothing worked. We ended up having to walk around just to find a Starbucks for WiFi. We contacted Holafly support and they told us to go through the same troubleshooting steps we had already tried. We did it again anyway, still nothing. After that, they just stopped replying altogether. At that point it was getting urgent. We had to get our bags and make it to the airport, and after sending 7 or 8 messages with no response, I ended up buying another eSIM through Orange France. That worked instantly. So we were back online, but only after paying again for something we had already paid Holafly for. Honestly, the outage itself is one thing, but the lack of support when we actually needed help is what made it so stressful. Being stuck in a foreign city with no data and a time deadline is not a great situation. I’m writing this now on the tram and still haven’t had a reply. Last message was over half an hour ago. Has anyone else had issues like this with Holafly? Is it even worth trying to get a refund submitted by /u/beyondripped to r/eSIMs [link] [comments]

Holafly = horrible scammers
For my trip to India, I tried purchasing eSims from Holafly multiple times. For some of these purchase attempts, I received an email from Holafly stating that my "order is being reviewed." In the email they "kindly ask for 15 to 30 minutes." However, after waiting a couple of hours, I would receive no confirmation email of purchase NOR any email with a QR code. However, after a couple of days I noticed MULTIPLE HOLAFLY CHARGES on my credit cards. In total, I was charged $332.01 dollars. But I NEVER received any email with a QR code to access the eSims for these purchases from Holafly. I NEVER received any email with a confirmation number or an order number for these purchases made to my credit card from Holafly. Fast forward a month, and I've sent over 50 emails to the official Holafly email, [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), and dozens of messages through Holafly's official WhatsApp number, (661) 384-8482. But unfortunately, I've have NOT RECEIVED A SINGLE REFUND even after sending screenshots of my credit card statements showing proof of the Holafly purchases. My recommendation for you: look for another eSim company when abroad. Do NOT use Holafly. Its customer service is AI disguised as real people. You'll get scammed out of your money, maybe even hundreds of dollars like I did, and NEVER receive any of that money back. Horrible company. Holafly is a horrible SCAM company. 0/10 experience. submitted by /u/PsychologicalEnd3720 to r/eSIMs [link] [comments]

Avoid Holafly like the plague, save your money
Holafly: "With your Holafly eSIM you can connect at 4G, LTE and 5G speeds like any local data line. However, keep in mind that in remote or poor coverage areas, your mobile could connect at lower speeds." I have been using Holafly's unlimited plan for the past 2 weeks in Japan and Korea and the speed is unbearable. Every time you open Google Maps you have to wait 5 or 6 seconds for it to find a route, it's like going back 10 years in time. Check out the ping which is always 600ms+. It's unusable. Facebook messenger audio calls do not work. I originally got the plan because I was going to China and heard that they have a VPN included so you don't need to worry about that, however I have now arrived in China and found a much faster eSim that works. And yes, I followed ALL of Holafly's help chat instructions on how to make it faster. It fundamentally does not work. I believe it's because it pings back to the UK which is what makes it so slow. For 65USD a month it is an absolute scandal. submitted by /u/madridvideo to r/eSIMs [link] [comments]

Do Not Use HolaFly
Tried to purchasing an e-sim, never got the QR code after recieving a confirmation of purchase. Tried to chat with customer service, who suggested trying to install the app, but the app requested a confirmation code from my email - which I did not receive after 4 attemps. The customer service (I assume was a bot) then tried to connect with a live person, but that took awhile, so I decided to just request a refund via email. It felt extremely fishy that after these many attemps to just get a verification code via email, I was not recieving anything and that the chat bot kept recommending me to check my spam and ensure my email was correct. By the time I got a refund confirmed via email, the customer service rep got the QR code sent to my email. I am hoping that I still get my refund in a timely manner, as it seems many customers do not get it until they post on Reddit. It also seems when Reddit user's talk postively about HolaFly, when you check their account, they ONLY make posts abour their positive experiences. Would highly reccomend against the using HolaFly due to poor cusomter service experience. Should have done more digging her and saw how many people it did not work well for. submitted by /u/TheFobG to r/eSIMs [link] [comments]

Has anyone tried Holafly’s Unlimited eSIM plan? Does it really deliver?
Hi everyone, I’m considering getting the Holafly Unlimited eSIM plan (see link: esIM Holafly Unlimited Plans) and wanted to hear from people who’ve actually used it. Here are a few specific questions I have: Did you really get unlimited data? Were there any hidden limits, throttling after a certain usage, or “fair use” conditions? How was the connection speed? Was it consistent, or did it slow down in certain places & times? Was coverage good in the areas you traveled? Any dead zones or places where the service was bad? Any honest feedback - good or bad - would help a lot. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/WallAdventurous8977 to r/digitalnomad [link] [comments]

Why you shouldn’t use Holafly
Just a heads up if you’re thinking about using Holafly while traveling. A recent study found that Holafly (and some other travel eSIM providers) secretly route traffic through Chinese networks, even if you’re nowhere near China. For example, someone bought a Holafly eSIM in Ireland, but their internet traffic was routed through China. That means your data could be subject to Chinese surveillance laws and you’d never know, because Holafly doesn’t tell you this upfront. Why this matters: Privacy risk: Your traffic may be exposed to monitoring under Chinese jurisdiction. Geolocation issues: Websites/services might think you’re in China, which can block or restrict access. Zero transparency: Customers aren’t informed this is happening. Personally, I don’t feel comfortable with my data being routed through a country I didn’t choose, especially one with heavy surveillance laws. What to use: In the same study you can see eSIMs that are good to use: Saily, Gigsky, MTX Connect Yesim, Alosim, Nomad, AIRSIMe, Ubigi, Eskimo, Flexiroam, Better Roaming,DENT, T-Mobile, USIMS, Airalo, BNESIM, Maya Mobile, GooFie!, Numero eSIM, Voye, BreatheSIM. Holafly eSIM Not Working
Hi everyone, I purchased a Holafly unlimited eSIM for my trip to China. When I arrived in China last night and tried to turn on the line (I already had it installed prior to arrival), it showed four full signal bars, but somehow I had no connection to apps such as Instagram and Google. This is so unusual as the Holafly eSIM worked for me in summer 2023 and 2024 when I also stayed in China. As of now, I still have no connection despite four full signal bars. I tried to reach to the customer service, but someone named Emma seems to be an AI bot (with an AI-looking picture) instead of a human. In the end, “she” couldn’t help me solve the problem and referred me to the customer support team, and then it looks like I got ghosted. Any help would be appreciated in getting my eSIM fixed, and I probably would not purchase this ever again. It’s expensive and doesn’t work!! Update #1: Thanks for all the comments and please keep them coming. I would like to have it addressed as soon as possible so that it doesn’t affect my trip. Update #2: Looks like I might need to ask for a refund and look for another eSIM. Any suggestions as to other eSIMs that work in China right now? Update #3: I just woke up from my 5hr sleep as I was still dealing with jet lag. I tested the eSIM and this time it worked?!! I am not sure why it worked all of a sudden, but still I wouldn’t recommend buying this eSIM as it gave me a full day of frustration. I literally wasted a day trying to test all of the solutions to this problem. submitted by /u/Melodic_Entrance5342 to r/eSIMs [link] [comments]

Thinking of getting a Holafly ESIM— any idea what the up/down speeds are for this ?
The app says up to 5G unlimited - that is very vague, but I do understand it’s variable depending on where you are Can anyone who has this test out the speed test on Google and share what city you’re in? This is the only eSIM that I found, which has unlimited data - I do a lot of photo and video uploading to the cloud when I travel so that’s the reason I am inquiring submitted by /u/MrMegaGamerz to r/JapanTravelTips [link] [comments]
