I have been with this company for close to 6 years. Been awarded multiple Homer awards. Been sales associate of the months 7 times. Including last month. But I CAN NOT GET FULL TIME! that is until about 4 months ago when I was asked if I wanted full time lumber. Sure o thought why not. But lumber is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! I have been there about 3 full months and I am already the second most senior employee. We hired 5 new people. None made it more than a week. Lumber manager is never anywhere to be seen. Only one person scheduled 11 to 8. Multiple trucks a day. Pro desk will just hand huge orders to us and say "so and so called and is on the way and need these 270 boards and 53 osb pulled and wrapped on kickers in 10 minute. It can't be done and your belittled by pro and the customer when it's not ready. 6 years here. Never dreaded work. Loved it in fact. Loved my time in garden paint and electrical. Now I have basically started quite quiting. Hide when I can. And have almost rage quit multiple times. As soon as sucess sharing comes in I am out. Lumber is worst experience of my working career. Bar none. UPDATE: put some applications in and immediately got 3 job offers that were close in pay and substantially less in stress. Accepted a position at target and during the store walk, it seems so so so much less chaotic. Put in my 2 weeks notice and was told "if your leaving just leave" which I suspect may be them trying to keep me from getting sucess sharing. But either way I'm out. Specialty DS here. I have worked at the Home Depot for four years. Starting as a PT plumbing associate, full time flooring hard side, service desk DS and now Specialty DS. I just accepted a job where I’m going to make $16 more an hour without any leadership responsibilities. I am so relieved. I sure loved my time here, the friends I made, the co workers I’ve had and so on. But for what we do, we are severely underpaid. 3 YEARS OF HELL. Dude, I started this job when I first started college, and now that I'm close to the finish line, I'm having a moment of wtf am I even doing here? I work in the garden, I'm one of those unfortunate souls who know everything in the store to the point I feel like they can't live without me. It's nice in a way, I know they let me slide with more things than usual, aka calling out without sick time.
