I have a Honeywell T6 Pro which was working just fine with Google Home until a few days ago. Now it's showing as offline in the Google Home app (and just spins and spins and never loads in the Emporia app), despite being online and able to be controlled with Honeywell's own Resideo app. I have several automations for separate air conditioning units that reference the status of the main thermostat, and having it offline breaks those. I suspect this is an issue on Honeywell's side, but am curious if anyone else is having similar issues. Thanks! Update 5/20: was able to successfully reconnect Emporia. Honeywell is splitting into 3 parts, which is kind of reminiscent of the split that GE did a few years ago. As these big conglomerates split, they shed the “conglomerate discount” and high growth areas can be valued at comparable company multiples. GE Vernova is up over 600% since the split, because of the strong growth of its strong power generation and gas turbine business. GE remainco, the aerospace business, is up 40% since mid 2024. The worst performer, GE healthcare, is only up 30% over the past 3 years, but it had a great 40% run right out of the gate in the first 4 months. Honeywell has already spun off its advanced materials division Solstice, which is up 64% since the spin off on October 30, 2025. They have a big refrigerants business, which is replacing the legacy hydrofluorocarbons (which have high potential for adding to global warming). This business is benefiting from strong HVAC demand. The multiple is currently at 55X trailing earnings and 31X forward earnings. The current Honeywell has a market cap of $148 billion and has $37 billion of trailing revenue and trades at 33x trailing earnings and 22x forward earnings. The next spin off is the Honeywell Aerospace which will come public under the ticker HONA in Q3 2026. There is an investor day scheduled for June 3, 2026. It had $17.5 billion of revenue in 2025, with 40% from defense and space, 30% commercial original equipment (airplane parts), and 30% repairs for existing airplane fleets. Pro forma it looks like $1.5 billion of net income. Airplane part maker comps are Howmet which trades at a hefty 69X trailing earnings and 55x forward and Carpenter which trades at 51x trailing, 40x forward. The Honeywell “remainco” will have about $20 billion in annual revenue, across 3 divisions: building automation, industrial automation, and process automation and technology. The pro forma operating margin of the remainco is around 15%. I think the pro forma net income might be around $2 billion trailing. Building automation includes things like HVAC control, sensors and electrical equipment, software to control these, fire and security systems, energy and sustainability (LEED compliance). Industrial automation includes industrial sensors, safety switches, a robotics division (think pallet moving robots), and heat exchangers. And process automation and technology has software to run big industrial plants like oil refineries, LNG plants, chemical plants, paper mills and the old universal oil products (UOP) which has patented processes for many key steps in refining and licenses them out. I think the Honeywell remainco might be a standout with many cool growth drivers tied to AI buildout (HVAC controls, electrical equipment) robotics and automation (industrial automation division) and the current boom in the U.S. petrochemical industry (UOP). This could get valued alongside comps in HVAC/electrical like Comfort Systems, which trades at 56x trailing earnings and 44x forward, or Rockwell which trades at 46X trailing and 33x forward earnings. Both of the remaining divisions seem to have comps at higher multiples than the current Honeywell. Been working through the HON/HONA separation for the past few weeks and wanted to share the setup. Curious if anyone here has a different read on the comp selection. The quick version: Honeywell is separating Aerospace Technologies into a standalone company (ticker HONA, Nasdaq, Q3 2026) after Elliott Management pushed for it with a $5B position. $17.4B revenue, 24.6% EBIT margin, three segments — avionics, APUs, and flight control systems. The aftermarket piece is the real business: 55-65% of revenues are recurring or semi-recurring, and aftermarket margins run 8-15 points above OEM. No airline can skip scheduled maintenance on certified systems. That's the moat. Why this isn't a standard Greenblatt play and why that distinction matters: HONA is not an obscure $2B spin-off that nobody's going to analyze. 30+ sell-side desks cover it, it'll enter the S&P 500 on day one, and Wolfe Research already has a $293/share SOTP on HON. The informational asymmetry that drives the classic Greenblatt setup doesn't exist here. The real edge is structural: HON's aerospace EBITDA has been priced at 15-17x inside the conglomerate. Collins Aerospace and Safran, near-identical businesses in terms of mix, trade at 19-23x as pure-plays. The separation doesn't discover hidden value. It removes the mechanism that suppressed the multiple. The forced selling is real but bounded: ESG funds with defense exclusions will be sellers regardless of price — HONA's Electronic Solutions segment has ~30-35% defense/space exposure. Automation sector funds bought HON for the Building Automation and Process Control exposure, not aerospace. Some multi-sector mandates will be overweight aerospace and need to trim mechanically. But here's the calibration: this is a $75B company on day one, entering the S&P 500 immediately, with dense coverage. The overshooting will be real but it won't be the 40-50% dislocation you see in a $1B obscure spinco. The window probably lasts 6-8 weeks and the entry zone is somewhere bettween $55-75B total market cap, depending on how aggressive the ESG selling gets. The capital structure is the thing most people are underweighting: HONA issued $16B in senior notes pre-spin. $10.5B of that was a cash distribution to HON parent, basically HON extracted cash from the spun asset to fund its own buybacks. Leaves HONA at ~3.1x ND/EBITDA at spin. Manageable, not clean. On a normalized FCF basis (EBITDA $5.05B, CapEx ~$620M, taxes, ~$880M in interest) you get to roughly $2.6B in post-debt-service FCF. At a $75B market cap that's ~3.5% FCF yield, which is attractive for this moat quality and growth profile. The HON RemainCo angle is interesting too: After HONA leaves, HON becomes a $19-22B automation company: Building Automation ($7.4B revenue, 27% margins, 8% organic growth), Process Automation & Technology, and Industrial Automation (post-PSS/WWS divestitures). Building Automation is a genuinely high-quality asset, the Honeywell Forge software platform is early but real. HON RemainCo at current prices (~$244) is roughly fairly valued in a base case. The entry there is if stranded costs (we estimate $300-500M) create a post-spin sell-off. The date to own: June 3, 2026, Phoenix, HONA Investor Day. Jim Currier (CEO) and Josh Jepsen (CFO, ex-Deere) present the first standalone financial model, 2026-2028 guidance, and capital allocation policy. Distribution ratio gets confirmed here too, which unlocks the per-share price target math. Everything before June 3 is preparation. Everything after is execution.
