Always Huggies at night. The next size up. So we have a small pack of Huggies snug and dry size 6 for night time. We don’t care what we use during the day since our family still helps buy us diapers. But usually pampers swaddlers or Huggies little movers or snug and dry size 5 during the day.

We did the same with my first around this age and rarely had any leaks. I've heard about people using sposie pads as well, but I have never tried them . I've also heard of people putting cloth diapers over regular diapers.

First time mom here, I have a little girl and I’m wondering if I need to up her diaper size or just not use Pampers on her for now. My little girl was 6 pounds 12 ounces when she was born. In the hospital they started her in newborn Pampers, she was swimming in them, they would nearly fall off of her. By the time we left the hospital they were fitting a little better but not the best. She is now 2 weeks old, 7 pounds 9 ounces, and has been in newborn Huggies diapers. We had lots of diapers gifted to us and when we got home that was just the pack I grabbed to use for her. The Huggies newborn diapers fit her great. We ran out of that pack so I grabbed the other pack of newborn diapers that we have which happen to be Pampers. She has leaked in them and now had her first blowout, not a big one thank god, honestly it’s the smallest blowout ever. I know that when they start having blowouts that typically means go up a size but I swear the Pampers newborns are bigger than the Huggies newborns and she’d be absolutely swimming in a size one for either brand but maybe I’m wrong. We use Dyper brand but our 16 month old is close to outgrowing the leg holes on their biggest size (6). He’s nowhere near potty training and his daycare doesn’t do pull ups while they still get changed on a changing table. Anyone have good recommendations for size 7 diapers for a sensitive skin kiddo? 15 mo old and not close to potty training until at least 2.5 or 3 but I’m not sure lol he’s my first. My guy is so big I am afraid I am going to run out of diaper sizes? Did anyone else have this problem or am I being silly and over sizing the diapers? We have used Huggies since about 6 weeks old as has been best fit for bubba. He’s currently 15 months in size 6 Huggies but pushing size 7 (he’s just had another growth spurt lol). We’ve upgraded to size 7 overnights and it’s been better. For reference he’s 36 inches tall and 29 lbs, lean and tall not super chubby. Size 3T in tops and 2T on bottom. Yes, he’s very very tall, we are aware 😅. My 6 month old boy is currently wearing size 4 Rascals diapers. At night time he is starting to leak through them so I’m having to replace his sleeper and blanket which then wakes him up and I have a hard time putting him back to bed. Does anyone think that overnight diapers actually make a difference? What has been your experience with them? Also, if anyone is able to offer advice on the size difference of Rascals vs Huggies overnight diapers that would be great. I am seriously at a loss. My 12 week old girl is peeing/pooping out of her diaper at least once or twice per night and then usually a couple times in the morning. She soaks through her pajamas and sleepsack and sometime even onto the sheets. Bedtime is around 8, so leaks happen all three of her wakeups (on a good night) at 11:30, 3:00, and then 6:00. Having to change her diaper and whole outfit and sleepsack in the middle of winter is really keeping us all awake. She is a really long baby (95th percentile for height) and is about 12-12.5 lbs so we already have her in size 3 because size two just doesnt fit anymore. What do I do? Will overnight diapers work or should I size up again? We are currently using Honest because I like how soft they are, but have used Huggies (leaks were worse) and Millie Moon (gave her a rash). I feel like I got wayyyy too many of the earlier sized diapers (145 of size 2 and ~80 for size 1 left) that I have had to give away to other parents when my little one had multiple blowouts. The ranges they give for each stage was nowhere near when I had to start sizing up, off by anywhere from 2-3lbs at each stage and wondering if other parents who have bigger babies also had a similar experience? My LO is consistently anywhere from 90th-97th percentile during each measurement. Although Huggies seems to be shorter in length compared to pampers, my LO sizes out of both equally and around the same time. Hello, future, soon to be, and already dads! When our baby was on the way, I tried to find out what the formula and diapers will cost. After all, this is one expensive journey, and it's good to be prepared! There are multiple estimates out there that vary widely, so I always wanted to see what it will actually cost. That is when an idea to track it all came up. When my daughter was born, I became a man possessed. Not by sleep deprivation. Not by baby wipes. By data. 🍼 Every bottle fed. 💩 Every diaper changed. 📈 Every ounce tracked — for 14 straight months. There are multiple apps on appstores that you can use to replicate it. Me and my wife used an app called 'Baby Tracker' by Nighp Software for iOS. Free version is absolutely enough, unless ads bother you or you need watch integration. Ads are not intrusive though and apple watch screen is too small to bother with in when you're in the middle of changing diapers anyway, so stick with free version. Now, for the data. Here’s what it actually costs. 1. Formula Over the first 14 months, our baby drank 10,876 ounces of milk. That is roughly 322 liters or 85 gallons. Milk consumption chart Some notes: Around 4 months, we started purees and food other than milk. Around 8-9 months, we peaked with milk consumption with baby eating around 35 ounces a day Around 8-9 months, we started feeding her more and more of what we ate, with that trend accelerating once the baby went off formula after 1st birthday. Milk cost Now for the cost calculation. This can vary a lot based on what formula you're using. We were using Hipp formula that tends to cost around $45 for 800g. It takes around 4.3 g of that formula to prepare 1 oz of milk. 1 gram of formula = $0.05625 or 5.625 cents 4.3 grams of formula = $0.241875 or 24.1875 cents So it costs 24.1875 cents to prepare 1 oz of milk Organic whole milk is $5 for 64 oz, so $0.078125 or 7.8125 cents So with these assumptions: Cost of milk per ounce This is the monthly cost: Cost of milk calculation For a total cost of $2829 for formula and $79 for whole milk for a grand total of $2908. Notes: Baby actually drank 85.6% of served milk, or $2489 worth of it It means $419 basically put down the drain. You can potentially get some savings if you prepare less milk at a time to avoid spoilage, but you risk baby crying in the middle of the night waiting for more milk while you try to save a dollar here or there - carefully weight your choices haha 2. Diapers Over the first 14 months, the baby went through 3349 diapers. Diapers changed by month Some notes: We primarily used Huggies with wetness indicator which was super helpful. A few times, we've used diapers without it, and it was a bit of a guessing game as to when it was necessary to change the diaper. We always changed the diaper when dirty. When it was wet, we estimated how full it was, without trying to test the limits. We'd rather change a few more diapers than deal with leaks. I guess if you pushed the diapers closer to the limit, it could decrease the numbers but you risk a diaper rash and an uncomfortable baby (good diaper cream is expensive). The jump in month 12 is due to a nasty norovirus that went through the daycare. It hit children, staff, AND parents. Don't ask... Fun data points: 18 - Most diapers changed in a day. That was when the baby was 4 days old. We were then informed by the pediatrician that we could perhaps try relaxing a bit and change the diapers less frequently. 14 - Most diapers changed in a day after we realized there is no need to change it that frequently. That was in the period when baby got norovirus and there were many dirty diapers. 2246 - Wet only diapers 1103 - Dirty/Mixed diapers Diapers cost There are many different brands for every budget. We stuck to Huggies from the beginning because these worked the best for us. You can look for deals on big sizes on ebay, use subscribe and save on amazon, stock up on black friday, prime day, etc, buying for weeks/months ahead. Based on our estimated, a blended cost of one diaper in this time was around 27 cents, or $0.27. Using that for calculation, this is what I get: Diaper cost by month Total cost is $904 for 14 months. Total Cost - Formula, milk, and diapers Between formula, milk, and diapers, it all comes down to about $3812 for the first 14 months. That does not include wipes, diaper cream, lotions, body wash, clothes, any other foods like purees, finger foods, and a lot of other things. Please remember this is just one data point for one baby on one type of milk and one kind of diapers. The cost of diapers can easily double if you go for something fancy like Coterie. This kind of tracking isn’t for everyone. But for me? It helped turn chaos into clarity. I've always liked tracking various data points in my life and although it wasn't always easy, my wife and I stuck to logging everything all this time for our baby. We have a 2nd baby on the way and we're planning to track its numbers for comparison so expect me back in some time! Has anyone else done something similar? Have you arrived at similar numbers? Hey! Im usually a lurker and dont really post things, but I'm looking for some advice. My nine month old daughter is 97th percentile for weight (almost 23 pounds) and 98th in height. She wears 18 and 24 month clothes. Now where were struggling is diapers. We've been using members mark since she was about 2 months old, and we went to sams this weekend and it looked like they completely changed their design and I was too scared to commit to that many diapers and have them not fit. We liked huggies when she was a newborn, but she was a lot smaller and I realized that huggies run a lot smaller than members mark. Pampers baby dry made her break out when she was a newborn, but we could give it a retry. We got honest size 6 to cover us for the weekend and it was a little tight on her but other than that we were happy with it. The only problem is that we'd have to go up to a 7 and that seems like it's their last size. Sooo what are yall doing with your big babies? I’m just looking for some suggestions on good diapers that don’t leak at night. I’m so tired of changing my son’s outfits at 4am which results in an overly early wakeup! so far I’ve tried Huggies overnight, little rascals, and pampers pure size 3 were working for a little bit, but not for when he has excessive wakes and therefore pees more. He’s about 17 ish lbs and we use Costco dice 3 diapers in the day. Also I’ve even tried double diapering which is a pain but worked for a little bit. Hello! So my big boy is 6 months and close to 30lbs. He is a size 8 in pampers and I’m noticing he keeps filling them up super fast. He’s exclusively breast fed, and according to his doctor you cant overfeed a breastfed baby so I think he’s just a larger child. Huggies leaks for him and there’s no pampers size past size 8. Hi everyone, FTM here. Wondering how long your baby is in size 4 diapers? I have a 6 month old and he’s been on size 4 since July 24. I still have a good 3 weeks supply of his diapers.. he still fits well in it thankfully. Costco Canada has another sale of Huggies diapers right now and not sure if I should buy size 5 just in case.. The Kirkland Diaper Sale is BACK June 3rd-16th I stocked up on this back about 6 months ago during the last sale in November. We called it "The Strategic Diaper Reserve" The Strategic Diaper Reserve Here is an FAQ I made in retrospect: How Often Does The Sale Happen? - About every 6 months. There's usually also some Huggies sales in between. Are They Any Good? - Yes, every kid is different of course but our kid had no issues. Same manufacturer as Huggies (Kimberly Clark). Some call them the previous model-year Huggies. Purchase Limit? - The usual in-warehouse store limit is 2 per size per day. I made 2 trips, but could have also done an online order and a warehouse one. Price: Size 1&2 are $34.99 per box, minus $9 - so $25.99 per box, Size 3-6 are $44.99 per box, minus $9, so $35.99 per box. Note: As you increase in size, there's less qty per box typically. But your kid won't burn through as many per day. This is a really nice discount. Should I Stock Up? - If you have the storage space, yes. The sale started shortly after our kiddo was born. We used some newborn N size diapers first but they were soon big enough for Size 1 diapers. Your kid may bulk differently depending on birth weight and genetics. If you're a new parent, I would say you're good grabbing 2x-3 of both Size 1 and 2, maybe 1-2 box of Size 3. If your kid is on the bigger end of the birth chart, get less size 1, more of size 2 and 3 - maybe even a box of Size 4. What If I already bought within the last 30 days? You can ask for a price adjustment. Sales Tax? Depends where you are - There is a chart of all sales-tax free diaper states here on the National Diaper Bank Network. California is tax free. Something to keep in mind depending on your location, or where your friends live, upcoming travel plans, etc. (Nevada and Illinois folks for example) Sizes and Weights: Every kid is a little different - they were at the edge of Size 1/2 for a while, so we would use Size 1 during the day/playtime or before bedtime to use those up and have Size 2 at night or before car rides to avoid blowouts. In retrospect maybe should have sized up a little sooner but we didn't get stuck with a ton of size 1s. Size 1: Up to 14lbs Size 2: 12-18lbs Size 3: 16-28lbs Size 4: 22-37lbs Size 5: 27lbs+ Size 6: 35lb+ Size Chart There's a chart via the Costco website. Online vs. In-Warehouse Price? - The price is usually the same online and free shipping. Bought too many? Save your receipts to make returns easier, just tape to top of box of the largest size you buy. Yes, they can look it up also, but a piece of tape is easier. Note on Daycare: If you have to send your kid to daycare, they'll likely change the kids at least every 2 hrs, so burn rate on diapers will be a bit higher.
