Except my husband did not explain it better AT ALL. He said exactly what I’d been saying. I have an ex who was very volatile after our break up and he harassed me/stalked me for years. He completely stopped for several years but recently started up again around the past Christmas. I think it’s because he found out somehow that I’m doing really well financially because a big part of his agenda right now seems to be demanding money from me. Anyway, he’s been harassing my family and friends for the past several months demanding that they give him my new address or put me in contact with him (multiple people in my life have now had to take out PPOs). He started with people who he knew from when we dated. My brothers, my father, old friends. And while that was upsetting it wasn’t shocking because I KNEW he had their contact info and most of their addresses already. What’s freaking me out more recently is that he’s all of the sudden contacting people who he has no business having any information for. Like my brother in law (the one sibling out of my husbands 9 other siblings that my husband and I are close with), my husband’s cousin (the ONE cousin of his out of dozens that my husband and I have a close relationship with), a formerly estranged cousin and aunt of mine who I only recently resumed contact with, new friends I’ve made over the near decade since the breakup, and my very new therapist of only a couple months. This is obviously a concerning and disturbing development because I’m unsure how my ex could get this info. I don’t post to social media like that and my association with these people (let alone their contact info) is not available publicly. A big part of my concern is that I know my ex had previously managed to gain access to my email and my iCloud. He likely had it for a long time prior to the breakup and he went on having it for years after the breakup until he left a stoned out voicemail where he essentially admitted it, at which point I essentially had to overhaul all my shit, go to Apple Store, new email, new iCloud login, the whole shebang. My concern now is that my ex somehow managed to gain access again or that he has found some other way to get into my information. Admittedly, I don’t know how he’d do that and I’ve exhausted every manner of looking into this from my end that I can think of and google. But there’s just too much weirdness and I wanted someone to look into this. I wasn’t even asking the police to do this for me. I was asking them to refer me to someone who *could* determine if anyone had access to any of my stuff without my knowledge. And the cop just told me over and over “your ex probably just remembered these people from when you two dated”. I kept reiterating “NO! I’m concerned specifically because THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE because these people were not in my life then”. Then I was told “well, just be more careful about your Instagram and Facebook” and I had to say that I literally do not have any self-identifying personal social media anymore. I haven’t FOR YEARS. Then it was right back to “well he probably just had peoples numbers saved from when you were dating” I turned to my husband, who is autistic and not exactly what anyone would call a skilled communicator and asked if he could please try to explain it to them. My husband repeated what I’d said VERBATIM. Literally parroted it. And suddenly there was concern. Suddenly I’m being given the number of a tech guy. There's many people defending that the "protester kid" stayed peaceful, and I guess they don't recognize him? Which is fair, the Raybans and how he was pleading with security and the police was what tipped me off. That's Danny Spud. He's an instigating little bastard who (for at least the last three years) posts 'prank' videos harassing people all around the 'burbs. Lately it's been while gambling Rainbet on if he's giving tips or just walking away, but he's got a history of damaging property, pulling fire alarms, harassing fast food workers, and walking after the people trying to get away from him. He's locked up a few of his accounts, (more now that this clip is doing numbers) but he's the origin of the viral clip and admits as such. There are probably a million reasons he should have gotten punched after seeing his content. He's got a long history of getting off easy. There's something so sincerely funny to me that people are defending the type of dude that would walk up, flip your grocery cart, then say "it's an accident. You've never heard of an accident?? Why are you so upset?" over and over. People making content like this thrive off never experiencing consequences or being recognized, and it seems like people took the bait again. He knew there was political walkouts going on at the school and specifically counter-protested to get this reaction. You'll probably be seeing more of him being painted as an innocent little dude with an interest in politics, but hopefully context will help here. I'm urging people to spread the word where they can, since this is gonna make rounds for the next week. Don't give him clicks, just don't buy into this narrative of "innocent kid just saying his beliefs" when he's a known instigator doing it for views. Chris Paul Statement: This is it! After over 21 years I'm stepping away from basketball. As I write this, it's hard to really know what to feel, but for once - most people would be surprised - I don't have the answer lol! But, mostly I'm filled with so much joy and gratitude! While this chapter of being an "NBA player" is done, the game of basketball will forever be engrained in the DNA of my life. I've been in the NBA for more than half of my life, spanning three decades. It's crazy even saying that!! Playing basketball for a living has been an unbelievable blessing that also came with lots of responsibility. I embraced it all. The good and the bad. As a lifelong learner, leadership is hard and is not for the weak. Some will like you and many people won't. But the goal was always the goal, and my intentions were always sincere (Damn, I love competing!!) It feels really good knowing that I played and treated this game with the utmost respect since the day my dad introduced to me to it. It was the very first relationship I ever knew. Basketball gav me a reason to wake up at 5am and work out before school. It gave me a reason to find a way to get to the YMCA on snow days even when the roads were icy. It gave me a reason to be the little brother always trying to beat his big brother. It gave me a reason to earn good grades so I could have a chance to play in college. It gave me a reason to to score 61 points in a game even though my grandfather had just been killed. It gave me a reason to show up and rehab day after day after the meniscus tear, the jones fracture, the separated shoulder and the 5 hand surgeries... The game always gave me a reason to SHOW UP!!! And the true leaders and fighters know that that right there - showing up - is half of the battle. So now with all the gratitude that I could possibly have... it's time for me to show up for others and in other ways. This last season I knew I couldn't do it unless I was at home with my family. Those six years away were a lot of sacrifice for all of us and I knew that had to come to an end. And I now know wholeheartedly the best teammate I can be is to Jada, Chris II and Cam!! I am so excited to take with me to the next chapter all the incredible things basketball has taught me. And more importantly that the people I have been blessed to meet through basketball have taught me. To all the teammates, coaches, staff, executives and most of all family. I can't begin to thank you enough...but the good news is I'll now have much more time to start! I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about kids playing Roblox, usually followed by “but I have the friends list locked down” or “they can’t chat with strangers so it’s fine.” I want to raise a few points that rarely get discussed, coming from someone with almost 20 years in the game industry. Roblox isn’t dangerous because of themes or visuals. It’s dangerous because of the systems it runs on and what those systems teach our kids. Here’s what I mean: • The social layer is a magnet for the usual online problems. Groomers show up wherever kids gather, and security at Roblox’s scale is never as tight as people think. But beyond that, it replicates every problem of a social network: performance pressure, bullying, cliques, the constant need to “fit in.” Everything bad in the schoolyard gets amplified here, and using the tools of social media with notifications, daily login bonuses, daily progression plans, everything to make you stick to the platform. • The creator economy looks wholesome on paper (“kids making games!”) but the business model is extractive. Roblox takes a huge cut, most creators never see a payout, and it normalizes exploitative terms before kids even understand what exploitation is. • The most popular games on the platform run on variable-ratio reward loops. Random payouts, rapid resets, no real skill curve. It’s casino logic dressed up as kids entertainment. This is early training in gambling psychology, teaching children that chance-based payouts are what fun looks like in a game. Not rewarding skill is my biggest hang-up as a developer, it's the worst. • Microtransactions are everywhere. The platform is tuned to upsell. It teaches impulse buying before kids have any grasp of money. None of this looks scary to parents, because the art is bright and harmless. No gore, no swearing, no adult themes. That’s the distraction. The real issue is the behavioral design running underneath it all. I’m not saying Roblox is the devil or that it will ruin your kid. Parenting matters far more than any single platform. I’m only trying to counter this growing idea that as long as communication is blocked, everything is fine. There’s very little on Roblox that is actually “good” for kids. It has the negatives of Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram combined, and its target demographic is 8 to 12. Then a few days later husband started getting weird texts and calls from people he didn’t know, saying odd vulgar things. We didn’t know why till his friend told him Charlene posted a status with his phone number saying “this person has hacked into my profiles and is stalking me” (husband doesn’t have her on social media so he had no idea) Nothing really came of it, he managed to block the numbers and thankfully the harassment didn’t last. Flash forward to 5 years now, and we haven’t heard from or about Charlene at all and promptly forgot about it. Husband’s sister just had a baby, (in the town husband originally came from/where Charlene lives) and since he hasn’t been there in like 6 years we decided to go down to see his family. We go down and everything is cool, he reaches out to some of his old pals to say hey and we meet a few of them. Over the next few days I get random friend requests from girls I don’t know (2 girls) who are from this small town. It shows husband isn’t a mutual friend with any of them and I ask him who these girls are and he says he doesn’t really know, but one seems familiar and he might have gone to school with one. I think it’s weird and just delete their requests. Then the next night I get a message request on Instagram. It’s from a different girl I don’t know that also lives in this town. She straight up tells me she knows my husband from childhood and he’s been messaging her on Tinder. She sends me screenshots of my husband messaging her saying he’s around and wants to hook up or something. I immediately show my husband of course and right away he drops what he’s doing and hands me his phone unlocked, tells me that isn’t him and he wants me to go through his phone so that I feel reassured. I go through everything, messages, Instagram, social media etc. I look at his apps, there’s no Tinder, I go to his search bar, still no tinder. He opens his App Store to show me its not downloaded. He downloaded tinder and entered his phone number into the login (from where I’m from if you go to login and type in your number it just sends you a code to login with) and it didn’t have his number registered. We look at the messages again and he recognizes the girl as one of Charlenes best friends from college. Now, there are a few odd things with the tinder screenshots this chick sends me: It says husbands account is verified with a little check mark His profile picture on Tinder is a really old one from his brothers Facebook. Like 3 or 4 years old. His brother is the only one still friends with Charlene on Facebook and it’s the only lone photo of husband on brother’s profile. It’s a photo husband actually hates, because he’s not smiling and he has his tongue out, but his brother keeps it up anyways to bug him despite husband asking him before to delete it to no avail. The way husband talks in the tinder screenshot is a bit different than how he usually texts to me in general. It’s very expressive (Hey!! How are you?? Remember me? :)) and he usually doesn’t type like that. But here’s the one thing that’s just weird that makes me feel uneasy: The message exchanges on Tinder are throughout the day gradually and not back and forth right away. It just happens that whenever “husband” replies it was the only 2 times we weren’t together during the day. Like this: Husband at 2:30 PM: Hey!! How are you?? Remember me?? Girl: Yeah! Hey! What’s up Husband at 4:54 Not much just visiting my sister :) So at 2:00 I had ran to the grocery store and was texting husband what I should grab for his sisters house (that’s why I know the time) At 4 ish we arrive at sisters and after helping with supper husband uses the bathroom. He’s not in there long but I send him a text with the poop emoji to be silly. That was at 4:53. So the fact that it’s around the same times where I’m not around him is unnerving, though the screenshots show they talk for longer after but I can’t see the times for the rest of the convos and frankly I don’t wanna message this girl and ask for more because it all seems sketchy. Anyways husband has never really been on his phone in general this whole trip, so it’s not like I see him sitting in the corner constantly texting. The people we met up with from his school the other day are close friends with Charlene and girl who messaged me. So...they could have easily told them we were there and we were visiting his sister. It’s a bit of a weird coincidence that this girl who’s friends with Charlene happens to reach out to me while we are down for the first time in 6 years specifically to visit his sister. The name on the Facebook was something like “Sarah Smith” the most generic name out there. Brother-in-law goes to Charlene’s Facebook and searches to see they (Sarah and Charlene) aren’t friends on Facebook. We dig through this Sarah chick some more to see there are no friends, no cover photo, no statuses/birthday, nothing. And it says the Facebook profile was created THE DAY she messaged me. We think it’s definitely Charlene behind that account. She specifically made it to reach out and message me. I just never thought to view her profile at all. Someone in the Reddit comments before had mentioned to me maybe those girls on Instagram trying to add me might be fake accounts made by Charlene or her friends. I thought there’s no way she would go that far and just thought nothing of it. But maybe they were right. Because it was about an hour after I denied the Instagram followed that “Sarah Smith” messaged me on Facebook. So. Bitches do be crazy after all. I didn’t think Charlene would ever take anything that far. Faking tinder messages...okay. But also faking a Facebook profile? Y’all were right. I apologized to husband for even feeling the slightest doubt for a second and he said it was completely fine, he understands completely and doesn’t blame me, and if I ever feel uncomfortable about anything I’m free to ask for his phone or to talk to him. But seeing as in the amount of years we’ve been together I never needed to go through his phone I don’t think I’ll need to start now. Now it’s a good story for us to laugh at, and jokes on Charlene because this just ended up making us closer than before. It's mostly the timing. I had a post go viral yesterday laying out the steps of the authoratarian playbook and my own experience with it from China and experiencing tianamen square. YT link is on my profile, but it's Instagram that really blew up. And today I get notified that my TTP or global entry has been revoked with no real reason listed. I "do not meet the requirements." This feels like retaliation and intimidation. It feels like an easy lever they can pull, so they pulled it. The timing is just so suspect. Also, it is real. I went to the trusted traveler/global entry website, it's a .gov domain, logged in using the secure.gov login server and used my app 2fa. The letter stating my status has been revoked is in the notifications there, you can see it in the video the 3 notifications, when i was granted provisionary, then i had my interview and granted full, then the revocation letter. I been saying tyranny is here but it's still surreal to experience it first hand. If anyone knows lawyers or such i can contact, let me know please. It does look like people's TTP get pulled randomly for obscure reasons. So it could be coincidence, but, the timing seems very suspect. EDIT: I mean "websites" not "accounts" in the title. I wanted to post this in the Twitter/X thread but was too late before it got locked. There's a problem with these big sites now requiring users to have an account to view "public content." There was one incident I was in where the city I was in put out a water boil advisory on Facebook instead of any of their public websites. Plus with all the shady shit Meta has been doing I don't trust them at all to ever have an account on any of their platforms again. After everything that's been going on I'm asking if we should consider having links to these sites banned as well. Screenshots of posts from them are a different situation that I'm not discussing. Site note, you can unlock tons of free content by going to your local library and getting yourself a library card. Books, magazines, cds, dvds, blurays, etc all for free. Plus many libraries now have free music streaming as well, and some allow you to download the songs. I highly recommend giving it a shot if you're looking for alternatives to sites like Spotify without the ads. Effective immediately, r/nba will be banning links to Twitter/X, as well as other social media platforms that require logins for their content to be browsed, including Facebook, Instagram and Threads. We have reached this decision after taking recent events and strong sentiment from our community into account. While we try our best to stay neutral and apolitical, we do not believe taking a stance against Nazi symbolism is or should be a political issue. Hate speech and the promotion of it has never been tolerated in our community. In addition, our users have brought forth issues regarding Twitter and other social platforms like it, ranging from accessibility, to content quality, to concerns over data privacy. Since the change in ownership, Twitter has also seen a significant rise in spam and x-rated content. Below, we will provide further context for how we came to this decision and how we will operate going forward. Additionally, we will be monitoring the situation for the next 30 days to gauge user experience and feedback on the impact to the subreddit and solicit further feedback, and implement any changes at that time. In the end, there were three key elements in making this decision: An increase in hate speech and discriminatory language, both on Twitter overall and coming directly from the owner of the platform. A litany of functionality, usability and content quality issues that have existed for a while. Considering the sentiment of our users. We tried to consider any and all factors and felt this was the clearest path forward at this juncture. Why not permit screenshots of Tweets? This was something we went back and forth on but decided it was not a can of worms we wanted to open right now but would monitor as an option down the road. While screenshots are an easy alternative to posting direct links, there are a few reasons why we want to go without screenshots first: The biggest concern with screenshots is that they are much more difficult to verify as legitimate. Screenshots are not accessibility-friendly for screen readers. If we are banning Twitter and other major platforms, we do not want to take half measures. Reddit and r/nba are a significant factor in the internet content ecosystem. We believe that if reddit traffic is not supporting platforms like Twitter in any way, that journalists and content creators in the space will be encouraged to move to alternative platforms that don't compromise their users and offer better accessibility for content. Is this censorship of content? Ensuring that we were not limiting or censoring content was one of the primary points of discussion for us. We do not believe that this handicaps or censors content because we are not putting a restriction on specific content or subject matter. We believe that any notable story that takes place in the NBA environment will still find its way to our subreddit through other avenues that are still permitted. So where do we go from here? While we are not endorsing any specific platform, the platform we have seen suggested most from our users and one where we believe a significant contingent of NBA reporters have already made their way over to is BlueSky. TL;DR: For a trial period we will ban all content from Twitter, with the intention to make this ban permanent in some form. Hey everyone! After yesterday’s proposal we discussed within the mod team whether a full ban on Twitter content would be feasible. We had already been encouraging Bluesky as a source over other platforms, since by not forcing users to log in it is more accessible and it does not suffer from the various other issues affecting Twitter. Our main concern with a full ban is that while many F1 journalists have joined Bluesky, teams, drivers & FOM have not. But we also realize that it’s a chicken or the egg problem and as a community of almost 5 million, we probably have a non-trivial effect as to what platform is the native source for F1 news In the end we’ve settled on the following approach: For a trial period we will ban all content from Twitter with the only exception of screenshots of relevant posts by teams, drivers & F1 that are not available on any other platform. Even in case of major breaking news, we ask you to post links to the press releases or a screenshot of the post from Instagram, with a link in the comments. We hope that this trial period will provide a nudge for F1 journalists, creators and teams to make their content available on alternative platforms as we intend to make this ban permanent in some form. Why a trial period? First of all, sometimes mods make bad decisions even if with the best intentions. (For example in 2015 this subreddit banned images & gifs, which caused a controversy that was only resolved after Will Buxton stepped in to mediate the situation.) Second of all, this is one of the strictest approaches to Twitter content and strict bans like this can have unintended consequences, so we might need to later refine this ban. We intend the trial period to last at least until the first races of the new season, after which a final form of the ban would be implemented. This subreddit has had restrictions on what content can be posted for a very long time. We’ve had the source rating system that labeled the quality of news sites and is still used for removing sensationalist and unoriginal articles. We’ve also had limitations on Instagram due to its requirement for an account to view posts. There’s no doubt that over the past years Twitter has become a low-quality source: the login requirements, the flood of bots, the prioritization of content from paying users and promotion of sensationalist content. During my snooping I gradually became devastatingly confident that he wasn’t behind just one but both accounts. I’ve never seen his face so red and he just absolutely panicked and started shouting at me to get out of his business. I couldn’t even form the right words to say to him, in the end I just walked out of his apartment sobbing.
