Would you recommend the iphone se. [Question] MacBook user torn: iPhone 17e or Galaxy S26? How is the Mac + Android life right now?
Hey everyone! I daily drive a MacBook but need a new phone. I'm completely torn: iPhone 17e: The seamless ecosystem (AirDrop, Universal Clipboard) is super tempting, but a 60Hz screen in 2026 really hurts. Galaxy S26: The 120Hz display is a must for me (I play Genshin), and I actively need Android's freedom to sideload APKs for my drone tech work without any hassle. My questions for Mac + Android users: • How painful is it to live without AirDrop and Handoff? • What are your go-to apps for quick Mac-to-Android file transfers? •Is the 120Hz + Android freedom worth giving up the perfect Mac integration? Thanks for the honesty! submitted by /u/2Curly4u to r/mac [link] [comments]

One month with the 17e - absolutely love it!
A month ago now I upgraded to the 17e from my 12 pro max and it’s been a super satisfying experience so far. Phone size: I thought this would be the main pain point for me. Aside from the 4s (my first iPhone) and the X, I only liked buying the bigger size because I had the “bigger is better” mentality. But I actually do not miss having a plus sized phone. The smaller format just feels more comfortable in hand and I can one-hand text again without needing the stretch my thumb halfway across the screen. Battery: I love the optimization mode it has which I think to an extent the 12 pro max had, but you couldn’t set the Percentage it could charge to, to preserve the battery. The 17e usually lasts me the whole day even when using apps like Claude, YouTube or Apple Music. So just like with my 12 pro max the battery life is awesome, but it does have a slight minute long delay when you attach the phone to a wireless charger. I thought this was because of the case I’m using but it even does this outside the case. It doesn’t seem concerning, but I find it kinda weird unless it’s a protective setting I’m not aware of. Camera: Camera is pretty optimal! Great quality, and easy to live without the 3 cameras the pro max has. Aside from just having a bigger phone I’d always gravitate to the flagship model because of the camera, despite never actually taking photos with my phone. The feeling just isn’t the same as using a “real” camera with a better raw format and actual glass. Phone heat: the 17e does get warm sometimes, mostly when charging if I’m using my Ugreen wireless pack, but it’s not bad compared to the 12 pro max and usually cools down after 5 minutes. Even just having the 12 pro max on the cable it would feel like it was about to catch fire. I had my pro max swapped out on 3 occasions years ago and partly due to the overheating which I think caused a lot of the problems that showed up on its diagnostic report I got before getting the 17e. Find my: it’s a small gripe, but it’s still disappointing. With the find my app, i unfortunately lose the ability for the close proximity tracking of my AirTags. I found out the hard way this feature is only available on models like the pro, and pro max. Instead I only have “play sound” and “directions” on the e model. Over all I’d give it a 9.5/10, I love this phone so much and for what you get with it the price is pretty fair I’d say submitted by /u/BoxLongjumping1067 to r/IPhone17e [link] [comments]

Why to choose iphone 17 when 17e is already there
Hi, my dear iphone 17 users, can you elaborate on the three most advantages of the iPhone 17 over 17e? Basically, I want to know why you decided to buy 17 over the 17e. In my opinion: One additional camera, but applicable only to those people who love serious photography. For day to day use 17e users say that their phone is perfect. 120 hz refresh rate over 60. But I can say from my personal experience ( I have used Iphone 13, 15 plus, 16 and 15 PM in the recent past) that the refresh rate issue is actually a non issue. 6.3 inch of size over 6.1 inch which is again subjective. Am I missing anything? On the other side, 17e gives you better battery as well as the same performance at less price. I believe 17e is a much better option for a beginner than 17 particularly if one is having budget issue. submitted by /u/No_Violinist_5038 to r/iPhoneWale [link] [comments]

Just picked up the iPhone 17e first impressions
Hey everyone, I just bought the iPhone 17e and I’m kinda surprised how much I like it already. You know that feeling when you get a new phone and everything just feels fresh and smooth? Yeah, that’s exactly it. Setup was quick, no issues at all. The phone feels really nice in hand, not too heavy, not too light. Scrolling is super smooth, apps open fast, and overall it just feels clean and polished. And yeah, the battery has been really good so far too. I wasn’t expecting much on day one, but it’s holding up better than I thought with normal use. Haven’t tested everything yet like camera long term, but right now it just feels like a solid upgrade. Is the iPhone 17e actually good enough or just looks good?
My wife went from iPhone 13 → pink 17e I’m on a 17 PM so I compared a bit not anything serious, just daily use stuff 60Hz is… honestly fine put it next to a high refresh phone and yeah you can tell, but it’s not a big deal unless you game a lot battery is kinda weird not bad actually, she played a quick FPS game and only lost like 3% also feels a bit heavier than I expected and gets warm sometimes (maybe iOS 26.3.1 idk) put my super thin Qi2 one next to it — it already feels tiny on my 17 PM — and somehow it made the whole setup look even smaller idk feels like one of those “looks really nice, works fine, but slightly cut down” phones worth it over the 13? or just a style thing submitted by /u/mo_ngeri to r/iPhone17Pro [link] [comments]

Is iPhone 17e a scam
with the iphone 17e launching on march 11, i’ve been trying to understand where it actually fits in the lineup. it’s supposed to be the cheaper iphone, but if it ends up around $599–$699, that still feels pretty expensive for something meant to be the entry option. then you look at the regular iphone 17 starting around $799, and suddenly the price difference doesn’t feel that big. from what we saw with the iphone 16e, apple usually puts a strong chip in it but cuts back in other areas. the display is usually more basic, the camera setup is simpler, and you miss out on some of the nicer features the regular models get. so the 17e will probably be similar. good performance but a more basic overall package compared to the regular iphone 17. that’s what makes it feel a bit weird. it’s not cheap enough to feel like a proper budget phone, but it’s also missing things that make the regular iphone feel like the better buy. at that point i feel like a lot of people might just spend a bit more and get the regular iphone 17 or pick up last year’s iphone 16 when the price drops submitted by /u/overlord-07 to r/TechNook [link] [comments]

iPhone Air, 17 and 17E users, are you guys aware that the main camera of your phone is NOT the same as the 17 Pro models?
This might sound like a really dumb question at first especially on an iPhone focused subreddit, a $599 phone has a different camera than $1199 phone duh. However, imagine you are in the shoes of a normal person who just wants an iPhone and you look at the Apple website to see which model to buy and also use the compare feature to assist you. You see all of these models have a 48mp fusion Main camera with the differentiating 'Pro' feature being that your lens has new generation stabilization. So this means that the main camera is an identical 48mp fusion main across the lineup with Pro's only advantage being more stability, right? Wrong. The most important specification for a camera is how much light it can gather which mostly depends on the size of the sensor. Bigger sensor = more light gathered. The 17 Pro's main features a big 1/1.28" sensor which means it's light gathering ability is technically superior to the latest $1299 S26 Ultra with a 1/1.3" sensor. The base iPhone 17/Air on the other hand feature a 1/1.56" sensor which is identical to the latest base model S26 but with slightly higher aperture which means even more light. The 17E's main on the other hand is a ridiculously tiny 1/2.55" sensor which puts it at the same tier as the iPhone XS or the Galaxy S10, both obsolete models that don't even get OS updates anymore. Now, of course the quality of output produced by these phones isn't exactly proportional to how big the sensor is and I'm sure a lot of people will be satisfied with Galaxy S10 sized sensor of the 17E but I feel like it's still important to at least be aware what exactly you are getting because there is still noticeable benefits. And remember if there wasn't a benefit, Apple wouldn't have added it which is something to remember. The reason why I made this post is because I myself have been looking to purchase the Air and I thought despite it only having single lens, if it at least has the 17 Pro's main camera it would still be justifiable but sadly that is not the case. I never got deeper and just assumed that till today. And if a nerdier than average person like me was so close to being fooled by this very smart intentional naming scheme Apple has going on, I can only imagine most people have absolutely no idea about this big difference that exists. TLDR: Having a 48mp Fusion Main could either mean your iPhone has a better sensor than the latest 1300$ 2026 S26 Ultra or worse than the 2019 S10. If camera is your priority, be sure to check sites like gsmarena or whichever that show the real specifications instead of relying on meaningless tags like fusion camera. submitted by /u/Lucky_Outside_2009 to r/iphone [link] [comments]

How can a MacBook Neo cost the same as an iPhone 17e?
I genuinely don’t understand this and I’m hoping someone more knowledgeable can explain it. How can a MacBook Neo cost roughly the same as an iPhone 17e when: They use the same A-series chip The MacBook has a full keyboard, trackpad, larger display, bigger battery, aluminium chassis There’s physically more material in the laptop Meanwhile the iPhone has: A much smaller screen Fewer raw materials No keyboard / trackpad And yet costs the same (or more) I get that phones have miniaturisation costs, cameras, 5G modems, etc. But the MacBook is still a full computer with more surface area, more enclosure material, and more components in terms of physical size. It's not even a product segment argument anymore as the raw materials and specifications are functionally identical. So what am I missing here? Are they exposing their prices are just arbitrary and have less attachment to reality than before? submitted by /u/Dazza477 to r/hardware [link] [comments]

The iPhone 17e Might Be "A Jack of All Trades".. Convince Me I’m Wrong
After looking at the iPhone 17e specs, I genuinely don’t understand who the standard iPhone is for anymore. For $599, the 17e now gives you: 256GB base storage MagSafe A19 chip 48MP camera with 2× optical-quality zoom OLED display Updated connectivity with the new modem For most everyday users, what is this realistically missing? It feels like Apple just moved the “baseline iPhone experience” down to the 17e. At this point, are the higher models seem more like enthusiast or luxury upgrades rather than practical ones. Where does the regular iPhone actually make sense now? Curious to hear different takes. submitted by /u/BarnabyLaptopOutlet to r/iphone [link] [comments]

iPhone 17e - Disappointing
Naglabas na naman ng panibagong basura ang Apple, yes the iPhone 17e na may notch with 60hz. Very disappointing, I waited for this because I want to complete my Apple ecosystem sana (I have Macbook and iPad Pro) but grabe. 2026 na, yung refresh rate is 60hz pa rin, may notch pa rin and ang kapal pa ng side bezels, and guess what? P45,000 ang price, i thought it would fall to 30k-ish lang pero Puk!ng ina hindi pala!, naku mag iPhone 17 base model na lang ako. hayop! o much better the latest Xiaomi brand model na lang siguro. hmmmm, kainis. submitted by /u/Parking-Plant4880 to r/Tech_Philippines [link] [comments]
