Jellycat alternatives that ship to Europe?
I love Jellycats and have been collecting them for so long but unfortunately the prices are becoming too pricey for me, so now I‘m looking for cheaper brands with the same amount of quality and cuteness. I snooped around online and absolutely fell in love with Mon Ami, Hugz and Bunnies by the Bay, but under none of those brands ship to Europe. Well, Hugz does - but the shipping is about 36€ which is way too expensive for me. I live in Germany and would love some brand recommendations that have the same aesthetic as these brands! :) submitted by /u/yelenalim to r/plushies [link] [comments]

turned 30 today, my baby daddy surprised me with this lil guy 🩷🐨
This is my first birthday ever with our baby girl and it’s also the end of my 20s, so my partner made it extra special and got me this cutie even though it’s not on my wishlist!! I somehow always thought of him as something cute to get as a gift rather than something to get myself, but I’d been tempted so many times as I find him and his lil ears absolutely adorable!!!!! I’m so blessed with the best boyfie husband to be and daughter on Earth and if this is what 30 feels like I am HYPED to enter this decade 🥳 He also did the decor hehehe, he made me and baby wait in the bedroom for like literally 3 hours HAHA IT’S NOT MY EXACT AESTHETIC BUT I LOVE TO SEE HIS OWN TOUCH AND PERSONAL CHOICES LIKE, wydm u thought “hmm this flower arrangement will go so well with the chrome balloons” like HE HAS FREE WILL AND IS OUT THERE THINKING AND DECIDING THINGS THAT MIGHT MAKE ME HAPPY?! omg he’s just too precious. anyways IDK IM JUST SO HAPPY WITH MY LIFE AFTER MANY ROUGH YEARS???? 🩷🩷🩷 submitted by /u/punknachos to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

An in-depth discussion about Jellycat's pricing with comparisons to other brands
Hi all, this is something that has been on my mind a lot lately and I'd like to share it with all of you. To preface, this post is NOT at all meant to shame anyone for buying or owning Jellies! (I myself have a whole collection, and actually just bought another one two days ago.) However, as collectors and consumers, I think it's important to understand the costs for the things we enjoy, and this will help us make more informed decisions about when the price is simply too much. I also think this is just interesting to discuss and consider. I gathered up some plushies from my own collection and one from my roommate/bestie's for comparison. I made sure they are as similar as possible so the comparison is as fair as it can possibly be. All prices are in USD and are the current prices for each plush! Jellycat Medium Smudge Fox VS Mary Meyer Marshmallow Fawn Texture and Weight: Nearly identical. The Marshmallow Fawn has ever so slightly shorter fur, but it is equally as silky-smooth. Both are stuffed to be slightly floppy, with wide, weighted limbs. Quality: The Marshmallow Fawn has smoother seams and I noticed a lot less shedding than the fox had. The eyes were clearly visible with no trimming or grooming required whereas my Smudge Fox here has been groomed and trimmed. Size: Nearly identical. Marshmallow Fawn is maybe half an inch larger. Price: Smudge Fox is $38.00 and Marshmallow Fawn is $27.99. Thoughts: I think the Mary Meyer Marshmallow line really gives the Smudges a run for their money here. They're cuter (imo) and more detailed, and just as soft and weighted, while also costing less. Douglas Dragon Bag Charm VS Jellycat Sky Dragon Bag Charm Texture and Quality: The Douglas charm has soft, smooth, yet also thick and sturdy fur. This particular one has actually been on my daily use bag for the past 2 months and he still looks brand new. The Jellycat charm fur is smooth and silky, but it also feels thin and I am afraid to put it on my bag (especially given the price!) Both have a nice metal brand medallion attached to their keyrings. Size: About the same. Price: The Douglas charm is $15.95 and the Jellycat charm is $35.00. Thoughts: This one is a bit of a tougher comparison. Obviously the Jellycat Sky Dragon has a very specific look, and if that's what you want then the Douglas charm isn't exactly a suitable alternative. However, I think in comparing the materials and feel of both charms, it's absolutely staggering that the Jellycat charm costs over twice as much. Jellycat Medium Bashful Dragon VS Douglas Melvin Dragon Texture and Quality: Bashful Dragon has the classic silky soft Jellycat feel, but his stuffing feels strangely stiff. He looks nice on a shelf, but doesn't feel very nice to hold. The Melvin Dragon has fur that I can only describe as luxurious. He is smooth, velvety, and his plush filling has a pleasant squishiness to it. (If you've felt the Cobblehop Bunny, he is about that texture, maybe even softer!) He both looks fantastic on display and is amazing to hold and cuddle. Detailing: Bashful Dragon's wings and horns are relatively simple and plain, made with a soft, low-pile minky. Melvin's wings, horns, spikes and paws are also low-pile minky and are just a little less soft, but they boast a lot more detailing. He has embroidered toes, and his wings have a different material inside with webbed detailing. He has eyelids and detailed nostrils. Bashful Dragon has simple black bead eyes where Melvin has beautiful resin eyes that catch the light and give his face a lot of personality. Size: Bashful Dragon is about 9 inches tall sitting, Melvin is about 12 inches tall sitting. Melvin is noticeably much bigger. Price: Bashful Dragon is $33.00 (although I paid $38 for him at a brick-and-mortar stockist) and Melvin Dragon is $28.95. Thoughts: It's insane to me that Melvin costs LESS than the Bashful Dragon, given the luxurious feel of his materials and the amount of detail in his construction. He's eye catching, adorable, and cuddling him is a very pleasant sensory experience. Bashful Dragon is soft and cute, but he just feels so plain, especially in comparison to other plushies. FINAL THOUGHTS: I love Jellycat plushies for what they are. I think they have a unique aesthetic that I enjoy, which is why I keep coming back to collect more. But I think the pricing has gotten far out of hand, especially considering they aren't really innovating with materials or aesthetics the way a lot of other brands are. Prices are shooting up, quality is going down, and it's getting harder to feel truly excited about the future of this brand I've loved and collected for nearly 10 years. There was quite a lot of discussion on my post recently about the pricing of the summer collection and it's staggering to consider that those prices are even higher than what I've discussed here. In short, I would really like to see Jellycat do more with what they have. Give us better quality (without jacking up prices even more!), give us new unique designs that can't be found anywhere else. The brand is cheapening itself more and more all the time and I don't think they're going to be able to coast on brand name forever before more and more collectors start to exit. submitted by /u/1mpavidus to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

Visiting
Hi! I’m visiting Cleveland for a weekend in June and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for cute shops. I’m especially looking for stores that carry stationery (stickers, journaling supplies, washi tape, etc.), as well as places that sell blind boxes, Jellycat, or similar cute home good items (matcha bowl, mugs). Also curious if there are any shops that carry Baggu. I’d love anything with a cozy, aesthetic vibe like bookstores, gift shops, or hidden gems. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/himitsubun to r/Cleveland [link] [comments]

When do you think these prices will become a tipping point?
I don't want to be too negative, because I love this brand and I have been collecting since 2017. But good lord these prices are getting outrageous. Especially the carp - *forty* dollars for a plain plush toy slightly larger than a beanie baby? I get the brand name and I do expect to pay a little more because they're ✨️luxury✨️. But these prices are all $20-$25 above what I would already consider high. I've started to explore other plush brands lately, and it's soured me to these prices even more. DCT has been putting out plushies of the same or higher quality that are larger, and often even softer, for half or even a third the prices of a Jellycat plush. Aurora plushies and Palm Pals have a similar cute aesthetic for super affordable prices. At what point do you think this will hit a tipping point for Jellycat? Eventually, these overpriced items are going to just sit unsold - and we know they never do sales. Or do you think these prices are sustainable on reputation, hype and brand loyalty? Curious on everyone's thoughts. I will say I definitely won't be picking any of these up, and price is one of the main reasons. submitted by /u/1mpavidus to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

Any ideas?
There’s two things I need some recommendations on. My girlfriend and I recently moved to the GR area and are currently decorating our new apartment. Part of our aesthetic is that dopamine core aesthetic and she loves things like jellycat, needoh, baggu, etc. there was a store in Columbus where we used to live called Tigertree that we could get all that stuff. I linked it down below. Also she’s looking for an online girl group where she can find other women to meet up with and to find events around the city to meet other like minded women. Columbus had C-Bus girl gang on Facebook and it was super active. Is there anything similar here? Any recommendations are appreciated! https://shoptigertree.com/ submitted by /u/Lil_Snowflake313 to r/grandrapids [link] [comments]

Which bashful bunny colour should I pick?
Hi everyone! Here’s my tiny but very loved jellycat collection so far: as you can see, I don’t have a bashful bunny yet. I know, scandalous!!!! Problem is, I keep scrolling on the jellycat website, and I can’t make up my mind on which bashful to get… beige, cream, woodland, silver? Another colour I haven’t seen/thought of? I included additional pics so you can see the overall aesthetic — I love when my plush can fit in for display, so I’d love people’s opinions on what shade would fit best. Is silver bunny similar in colour to Percy penguin’s belly, or is it paler? Beige bunny looks different shades depending on the pic, is it very light or a little brownish greyish, closer to smudge elephant? Is woodland bunny very dark? If you own any of these bunnies and have pics of them near each other, or near a jelly I do own, I would love to see how the shades compare. No one really sells jellycats close to me, otherwise I’d go and see the colour irl for myself!! submitted by /u/narphaloe to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

their rooms
might be a weird thing to pick on but WHY are their rooms so impersonal? theres not a single decor in there that actually reflects them as people (not that they have a personality these days anyway) but even when eli had a huge obsession with jellycats and was literally A COLLECTOR she did not display any of them which is so strange to me. everyone i know who collects things likes to show them off in some way but eli just keeps them hidden in her closet additionally there isnt even basic things like maybe a plant they like or a trinket they think is cute just laying around in their rooms it literally just looks like an ikea showroom even the rest of the house is just so corporate there’s no family pictures, no book collection on the book shelf, genuinely nothing personal. anyone know why they do this? i personally think it’s their mom wanting to uphold a certain aesthetic or something submitted by /u/Honest-Resolution-61 to r/kalogerassnark [link] [comments]

Cakes and desserts…talk me out of (or into 🤣) it!! And pls share photos of yours 🤍
I’ve been a plushie collector for over 20 years, and jellycat has been my main brand for the past 7. One of the best things about JC is their “something for everybody” quality. There are amuseables collectors, Bartholomew Bear fans…My problem? I love all of it. Yeah, everything jellycat makes. 🤦🏻♀️ So last year I gave myself a theme based on what products make me most excited, and went full-on bananas for bashful bunny. My collection was bunny centric for the year - and I loved it! For 2026, I want to give myself a new “theme” so I have that same direction when I shop and don’t end up just…buying every dang thing. Lol. And I am pretty sure I know what I want! I love JC desserts and sweets. The milkshakes, pastries, cookies. Most of all the CAKES 🤩 not only are they pleasing aesthetically but they’re dreamy in a sensory way too, large and hug/squishable. I want to make “dessert” my theme for the year. Those of you who’ve already been collecting dessert jellies, can you share pics in the comments? I would love to see irl photos of the products. Thank you in advance, fellow collectors 💓 submitted by /u/Born_Blackberry_3586 to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

How can I look after my turtle?
I’ve had this little guy since October when my sister died. He’s either been in my pocket or my hand that entire time, aside from when I nestled him in my sister’s hands whilst she was in the funeral home. He’s already looking very worn which I don’t mind aesthetically, I just worry that I’ll end up breaking him or wearing him away. Is there anything I can do to help keep him in good condition without washing him? It brings me comfort holding him knowing my sister held him too. I was thinking about maybe even knitting him some clothes but I don’t know if the friction would be a problem. Maybe jellycats are good enough quality and I’m just worrying over nothing, but I don’t want to have to stop holding him all the time. My baby’s Jellycat collection so far!
My baby is 6 months old and I’ve been collecting new and pre-loved Jellies for her since September. I’ve never had much growing up and the majority of my teddies were hand me downs from other kids or older siblings and were very worn down and not aesthetic at all! I feel so happy I get to start a collection of cute soft plushies for my baby girl and lowkey, for me too hihi 🧸 Can you spot the infiltrator? Not pictured: Cherries keychain I got for my partner 🍒 I got him into the Jellycat craze too and he decided he needed something to show off to his colleagues lol and our collection of Halloween Jellycats: Ooky Ghost Skeledog Dan Skeleton Bob Mummy Bob Ooky Jack o Lantern I’m curious what everyone’s favorites are from my collection 🩷🩷 My personal favorites are Cecile Chicken and Sandy Snail 🥹 and Skeledog Dan but he’s for another post! submitted by /u/punknachos to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

Jellycat vs squishmallows business model
Something i’ve been thinking a lot about recently is how the plushie community made a big switch from squishmallows during covid season to now jellycats. I think it has a lot to do with how squishmallows approached growing sales and fame and what made them so special. Squishmallows used to be really hard to find, and there were limited designs, but they were all so cute and had that “realistic” aesthetic with animals that were colored and designed based off of real animals (like sharks, horses, cows, all that kinda stuff). Squishmallows took this fame and made grave mistakes with it by lowering production quality to meet demands, making way too many designs, and making designs that catered more towards kids rather than adult collectors. now it’s all rainbow fart fairy land with designs of not real animals and too many details, and a lack of quality. no one’s hunting for squishmallows anymore because they don’t want rainbow fart unicorn cat with cheap plush and fabric quality! jellycats are now so popular because of their good quality and their minimal designs and availability, it makes finding the ones you want in store that much more special and you’re guaranteed a good quality stuffed animal that’s cute and not over the top. I hope with jellycats new fame that they don’t take the same approach that squishmallows did by choosing quantity over quality. I don’t mind paying more for a good quality plush that is cute and makes me happy instead of having a bunch of poor quality plush that instill hyper-kawaiification. what do yall think will happen to jellycats as they grow in popularity? do you think they’ll become kinda obsolete like squishmallows did? submitted by /u/SpareGift8805 to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

Am I the only one who’s mourning the neutral color monochrom dragons?
I’m just so sad they’re all retired and it makes me hesitant to bring any of mine out and enjoy them rather than keep them preserved. I recently got the medium and huge goldens for a big markup secondhand and I just know I can’t continue to do that. It also pains me knowing I’ll never have a sage or rose because I can’t afford it. I enjoy the colors of the newer dragons but I just love how adult- friendly the neutral monochrome colors all were. I felt like I could be a little sneakier with them all piled up or in my bag. submitted by /u/Ok-Reflection1005 to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

i’m sad about the public’s perception of the brand
jellycat used to be a somewhat niche company that focused on quality, materials, and unique designs. but ever since the supposed new ceo, i feel as if the brand is becoming soulless. last week i went to a jellycat drop at indigo. spontaneously, but i was seeing if they still had any brown patchwork bunnies left, i wanted to get my moss bunny a friend since i only have one bashful bunny. the event was extremely busy and i had to wait in a long line to even be able to see what they had. the employee there said people waited TWO HOURS before it opened to get the chance of getting malachy dragon, and they only received four. you had to grab a ticket first from an employee to even get in line, and there were separate checkouts. regular indigo shoppers got one cashier, jellycat checkout had three cashiers. but as i was in line, the vibe felt off. there were a lot of young preteens and millennial women, which isn’t bad in any way, until i heard them talking about jellycat. when they were talking about which one they wanted, it was clear that they didn’t view them as plush toys. they viewed them as luxury objects. even the preteens. they didn’t care about what they looked like as long as it was a popular jellycat. no “i want this one because it’s really cute!” no “i need to name him/i’m gonna name him _” no hugs after purchasing, nobody called them cute or said anything about the plush itself, almost no joy. these kids especially after buying an $80 bart just said “wow, i own a jellycat!”. oh, and resellers were present as well. i did get my brown patchwork bunny, but you’re not even allowed to choose or look at the faces before you purchase them. though that’s an indigo drop event thing. the thing that gets me is that i asked to look at them first and the worker looked extremely confused on why i care about that sort of thing. it just seems like the brand itself is pushing that they’re just luxury objects. like gucci but for plush toys. and with tiktok and instagram so focused on trends, the popularity of the brand skyrockets from influencers. it’s like jellycat is just a luxury aesthetic now. obviously people are allowed to enjoy things in any way they choose. i’m not saying that they shouldn’t. but especially with all the price increases, quality hikes, influencer collabs, and focus on amusables/what’s popular, it’s not how the brand used to be. and it just makes me sad. especially as an autistic person who thinks of plushies as friends. submitted by /u/SapphicLizard_ to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

Why I love Jellycats as a 34yo (And why thats perfectly ok)
Sometimes people try to make me feel weird or different for collecting Jellycats as a 34yo woman. But honestly? I don’t care. I’ve come to fully accept myself and my love for these plushies. Still, out of curiosity, I did a little research to better understand why I feel such a strong connection to them and I thought Id share what I found because it made sooo much sense to me : Comfort & Nostalgia Soft toys can trigger a deep sense of safety and warmth, especially when they're tied to childhood memories. In a chaotic world, they offer emotional grounding. Aesthetic appreciation Jellycats are genuinely beautiful. Their soft textures, calming colors, and expressive little faces make them feel like pieces of art. Collecting them can feel like curating a cozy, whimsical gallery. Sensory appeal The softness, weight, and texture of Jellycats can be deeply soothing. They help with stress, anxiety, and emotional regulation kind of like a plushy version of a weighted blanket or fidget tool. Playful escapism They let you stay connected to your imaginative, whimsical side. It’s a gentle and joyful way to hold on to innocence and take a break from the constant responsibilities of adulthood. Collecting as a hobby Collecting Jellycats is no different than collecting stamps, plants, or vinyl records. It brings satisfaction, structure, and even a little thrill. Identity & self-expression Jellycats can become part of your identity. They reflect a cozy, quirky, or gentle part of who you are. Sharing them or displaying your collection can help you feel seen and connected. Emotional companionship They provide a comforting, pressure-free kind of companionship. They don’t ask for anything but they offer a soothing presence that can be surprisingly powerful. So yeah, I love my Jellycats! I am proud of my collection, and I find real comfort and joy in them. If you feel the same, you’re not alone. submitted by /u/PumpkinSpice1986 to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

Which one should I get?
My mum wants to get me aJellycat as a gift because i’ve done really well improving my grades in school. Originally, I really wanted Bartholomew Bear Bathrobe and i’ve been on the hunt for him every week but with no luck. Today I was in waterstones and I saw the Smudge Elephant and loved him. So now I’m not sure. Do I go back and get the smudge elephant or wait it out until Bartholomew goes back in stock? I like the aesthetics of Bartholomew but I also like the elephants fur more and he’s much more cuddly. Help me decide 😭🙏 submitted by /u/Inksey_ to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]

What I learned about Jellycat from my local toy store
Today I asked the owner of my favorite toy store if they would be getting any more Jellycats in stock. They are a higher end toy store that used to have the biggest Jellycat selection of any store in the area, but I noticed their stock gradually declining and not being replenished and today there was barely anything left. I’ve witnessed the same thing happening at every toy store and gift shop in the area, but none of them ever had quite as many as this store did so I didn’t think too much about it. As soon as I asked, the expression on the owner’s face changed and she launched into a very angry rant about Jellycat. She told me they will no longer be stocking Jellycat because they’ve become a terrible company to work with. Apparently a new CEO was appointed who changed the vision for the brand, and things have gone downhill ever since. She said that after Jellies experienced a surge in popularity, Jellycat started taking advantage of the situation by artificially limiting stock while inflating prices to give the appearance of exclusivity and luxury, and because of the sudden rise in wholesale cost per order and wholesale quantity requirements, the only stores that would be able to stock them are bigger, high end retailers. Small businesses aren’t being explicitly told that they can’t stock Jellies, but they are being deliberately shut out by design. In the other hand, chain stores like Hallmark and Paper Source were told explicitly that Jellycat would be terminating their accounts, probably because they aren’t high end enough, and the fact that being sold at national chains made Jellies accessible, which goes against their desire to be viewed as exclusive luxury plushies. She seemed pretty upset that she had been supported their company for 15 years and always had a good relationship with them. She said there are lots of other great plushie brands and while she is disappointed, she isn’t worried about losing them as a supplier because her store has always been very aesthetic with classic, beautiful toys that she buys for the quality and charm, even though a lot of the brands aren’t well known. If anything, Jellycat’s trendiness made them incompatible with her store’s brand. After hearing this, I was so repulsed by Jellycat’s greed, manipulativeness, and lack of respect or consideration for the businesses who provided their brand with sales and exposure back when no one had heard of them or knew who they were. I know business is transactional and isn’t always fair, but this just seems like such an extreme overreach over a temporary fad and I believe it will come back to haunt them when they are no longer the “it” brand of the plushie world. I don’t think they realize just how much it mattered for their products to be discoverable and selected in person. I tried to give Jellycat the benefit of the doubt and even defended them based on what I read in a comment here, but after hearing this and seeing the crazy jacked up prices on the latest releases ($40 for tiny olives?!) I refuse to support them anymore. It was never just about collecting to me. I really enjoyed the experience and process of going to stores and stumbling upon new friends. Buying Jellies used to be fun, but their gross business practices and the consequences of those decisions means it’s not fun anymore so at least for me, there is no point in continuing to collect. I’ve found other brands and will be happy to give them my business. submitted by /u/Mewnicorns to r/Jellycatplush [link] [comments]
