So as everyone knows the site kemono.cr isnt fully functional for now, and it's like this already for months. I'm not related with the site owner or anyone else related with this site. I'm just a casual user. However, i did find some interesting information that I'd like to share. So first the main site, kemono.cr, isnt down. If the website itself doesnt load for you, it's not because the website itself is down. Use a vpn to view it from network elsewhere. This could be a problem with your local network environment. Also all images on the site is still there. That's because the images are served in the domain img.kemono.cr, and it resolve to kemono.cr through a CNAME record. As long as the main site is still up, all images will still be there(that is if the site owner didnt delete them) Actually many subdomains of kemono.cr resolve to kemono.cr(190.115.31.240) in the end: ``` [@.]kemono.cr a.kemono.cr b.kemono.cr beta.kemono.cr code.kemono.cr git.kemono.cr img.kemono.cr old.kemono.cr sentry.kemono.cr www.kemono.cr status.kemono.cr ``` Many of these subdomains arent actually used in the site and they lead to nowhere. The reason why videos wont load is because all videos are served on the following subdomains: ``` n1.kemono.cr n2.kemono.cr n3.kemono.cr n4.kemono.cr ``` Every of them resolve to one [different] address in 91.149.227.0/24. In fact I believe the owner of kemono.cr owns this ip range. This ip range belongs to AS200508(which only have one range of ipv4 and is owned by a private company with no online clues), whose upstream is Gigahost AS(AS56655). Gigahost is a hosting provider that provides vps with free bgp session, so it's likely that kemono.cr's owner broadcasted the ip addresses from a vps on Gigahost. I tested all other ips within 91.149.227.0/24 and none of them are even routeable. The last jump of traceroute route end with ``` 14 185.125.170.25 (185.125.170.25) 2144.552 ms !H * 185.125.170.252 (185.125.170.252) 287.265 ms ``` which indicates a route failure on a router in Norway(gigahost do provide vps in Norway) So I believe that there might be some misconfiguration on that gigahost vps that caused this taken all hosts down, or maybe that vps is simply down.(On a side note, nekohouse.su is also hosted on a [different] ip within this range, so that's why it's also down too.) Some people mentioned kemono.st, and claimed that there might be a migration to kemono.st going on and it might be the reason why kemono.cr is down. While I dont against the belief of this migration's existence(kemono.st resolves to 190.115.16.14, and all other subdomains of kemomo.cr could also be find in the domain kemono.st, and they all resolve the same way: All subdomains except n1-n4 resolve to kemono.st through a CNAME, and n1-n4 resolve to the exact ip addresses they use on the n1-n4 on kemono.cr), it's very likely unrelated to 91.149.227.0/24 being down. It's clear that kemono.st isnt open for the public yet, and even if it does it still wont solve the problem. coomer.cr's dns records are structured in a similiar way so I just wont go into the details. So overall until the issues about 91.149.227.0/24 is taken care of, it's unlikely that the videos will be back. Again I'm just a casual user of that site for asmr and porn, i'm not related to the owner of kemono.cr, all my information and conclusion are gotten from publicly available sources. The videos are likely still there and stored in some machine controlled by the owner, just offline(one broken machine dont take down the entire ip range with it). If they cannot solve the issues quickly, then there might be some technical issues preventing them from doing so(could be gigahost received DMCA and refused to be the upstream anymore, or the issues on the vps are too hard to be fixed any time soon, literally anything would be possible with all the information we could know) So please do not send hate to the owners of kemono.cr. I did send email asking them about the current stituation but didnt get any response, but that's kinda expected since little timmys who want to goon so bad probably already flooded their email with spam. The Devs of Kemono and Coomer have essentially left those websites to rot for months. For all I know they got raided by some secret police. Or just woke up one day collectively and said fuck everyone. This isnt like the other times the websites have gone down. They have literally abandoned them. Starting a new alternative would be a major uphill battle as Kemono and Coomer have been around for years and built a vast archive of paid content. I understand simply starting a new archive would take months and years for it to become useful. An Idea I have is to do basically the same thing as Kemono/Coomer but instead of purely scraped content, each creator would also have their own mini forum so people can post the extra content that couldn't be scraped i.e content that was deleted by the creator before the scraping. And obviously a better user interface. As pretty much everybody knows by now, Kemono is in it's yearly death coma state, and we're all left wondering and worrying about the worst coming to pass. I'm sure just like me, all of you are sick and tired of the same thing happening while waiting for the dev to make some sort of announcement to let us know that they are alive and to slowly fix kemono so it's back and up and working properly. Please don't misjudge me, I am ever so thankful for the insane service that this provides me and many other people to prevent us from being unable to see paywalled content, while also ensuring it can get preserved properly and not be lost. There's not really a point in me just wondering and asking myself "is this all that there is and will be?" Surely there are other alternatives that can cover a larger and broader spectrum of paywalled patreon content, instead of subsiding in niches like the only other few popular sites, so that mostly everybody can be covered and happy. Finally it leads me to ponder and hope aside from kemono being revived and there being more alternatives... that there being one jack of all trades that can ensure no worries for the foreseeable future regarding paywalled patreon content. I can't remember where exactly, but within the kemono community this one dude was talking to a coder on github who made an extension or tool or something that could scrape/crack/torrent/etc. Paywalled patreon content, but the guy got cold feet once the moron talking to him mentioned nsfw content, and fell off the face of the earth. As of recent, now there is this other guy who is talking about making their own version of kemono everybody, but they are saying they need help so they can make a domain/site of their own. Surely as a community we can find a way together to make one final method to ensure that we may be able to see and get this paywalled content for a long, long, LONG time. I wouldn't mind if mods deleted it for me.
