I just opened my New Old Stock Kindle Paperwhite from 2018
Back in 2018 I bought myself and my wife a Kindle. I was struggling with books and the tiny print and wanted to be able to pick my font size. Between us we had way too many books, it made sense to me. I loved mine and used it until it died just recently The front light stopped working then a couple of days later it stopped responding, won't reset with a 40 second hold. It's dead. Anyway, my wife is an English teacher born in 1975 and her reaction to the gift was I'm not using that bloody thing, that's not a book. To her every book must have pages, a cover, take up physical space, be hard to hold and read now she is 50..I felt most rejected I remember...it was a sad day, she wouldn't even open the box. 😢 Eight years later my kindle died and I cried 😭, I'd just started reading Dungeon Crawler Carl and was loving it...then I remembered I had a brand new one....unopened in the cupboard. I rushed to get my loot box. She has forfeited it now it's all mine, my precious. Happy days 😁 I'm doing the recommended 24 hours on a charger. The screen had a big exclamation mark for a while but seems all good now. Annoyingly, I was excited to have an Amazon charging cable, being a nerd and losing my old one. It won't plug in the hole, it simply does not fit, other cables are fine. If I go back to JB Hifi will they give me a new one? I should have my receipt somewhere. UPDATE : Kindle is alive...it has seamlessly gone through recharge, start up, wifi, amazon and updates. I have a working kindle and can once again read in bed, especially when I can't sleep...woohoo...I am very happy. 😁 I'll be sleeping with Donut and Carl tonight. 🤣 submitted by /u/Intelligent_Finger27 to r/kindle [link] [comments]

What Kindle cover do you use?
Paperwhite user here since 2017. I've used the book type cover ever since, as it protects the screen well. But recently I've been thinking of using the back cover that leaves the screen open. Is there a risk? I carry my Kindle in the bag and in my pocket mostly. Other times it's lying around on the sofa, bed, table, or on the floor. The folding cover also makes it a bit clunky to handle. Would appreciate any help. submitted by /u/jediwhiteshark to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Adding color and comfort to my Kindle paperwhite 5!
I previously made grip cases for the Boox Palma, Viwoods, and Kindle PPW6, and quite many people asked me about other Kindle models too. So now I finally have the Kindle PPW5 version in hand, and I’m also working on one for the Kindle Basic Besides the comfy grip for easier one-handed reading and some color combos, there are also tiny removable weights hidden inside the cover. You can customize the weight and balance by adding 0–3 small weights depending on what feels best for you Hope you guys like it!! And if you have any thoughts, ideas, or feedback, I’d really love to hear them. I seriously appreciate all the support so muchhh! submitted by /u/Extension_Nose_6021 to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Made list of cover cases for kindle 8th gen basic and 10th gen basic(2019 model of 10th gen)
https://preview.redd.it/bgjwubkga40h1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0546f0f0ca42ab58a59fcb30de5af73ddffb99ae https://preview.redd.it/ylo4mg2ul40h1.jpg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0e7ca5d5c90e6e59890d7aa24e57169b2938af1 week or two ago, I was looking for Kindle cases for my 8th-gen basic. It was kinda painful to find one, and confusing, as many were for the Paperwhite model, and a bunch were mixed in. I saw some people's comments and posts here asking for a Kindle case, etc., as not too long ago, I was in the same boat as most. So I have made an Amazon public wishlist where you can view the curated list of cases for the Kindle 8th gen basic or Kindle 10th gen basic (2019 model). Things to know before purchase(don't skip this): kindle 8th gen basic(model-SY69JL) and 10th gen basic(2019 model-J9G29R) are same size or dimension, so no issue. tried and tested, fits perfectly, and is interchangeable with each other. To find the model no. Refer to the second image, it's probably the first thing on the left side bottom, on the back of the Kindle. Automatic sleep-awake function on lid close and open will work only on the 10th gen basic model and not on the 8th gen basic because these cases are actually made for the 10th gen, so inside the front cover, there is a magnet that triggers the hall-effect sensor, which is used for that auto function. The placement of the sensor inside 8th gen basic is different than 10th gen basic, so of course that will not work (for that, you have to exclusively look for 8th gen cases, which are not available in India. Saw one but was priced at 2k with no reviews). But there is a workaround a person on Reddit has figured out, I will link that post too. This is different from the case magnet, which keeps the lid closed. Every case here, I think, comes with the case lid close magnet, not the same as the hall effect triggering one. This is for BASIC Kindle 8th and 10th gen(2019 model) only, not PAPERWHITE Kindle, seen many people who are confused about those for some reason. paperwhite have total different dimensions from these basic ones. Other than these 2 generation being the same dimensions and the case being interchangeable, I am not sure it will work with other Kindles except these two. Check the review before buying. I have just created a specific list of these 2 models, so people don't have to look anywhere else, as I have tried that before; this is as good as it gets in terms of available ones in India online(not sure about offline markets or sellers). I am not getting any commission; it is not an affiliate. Doing this just for the love of the game, and maybe future Kindle buyers can find the post helpful and get cases for their Kindle. Don't accidentally purchase the 10th-gen Paperwhite one, not in the list, but available on Amazon with the same designs because it's by the same company. Please check and confirm your address before purchasing, although my Amazon account is new and I have not added an address or personal details, but I don't know how the public wish list on Amazon works. If any changes are needed, tell me. Don't accidentally send it to me. Hope this post helps, and is clearly explained 😄 Link to Public Amazon list: https://www.amazon.in/hz/wishlist/ls/ZJQOQ0W4LESQ?ref_=wl_share workaround for the sleep/awake function on 8th gen basic with 10th gen case: https://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/comments/1pxpq9g/how_i_fixed_a_stuck_power_button_on_my_kindle_8th/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button submitted by /u/Emotionaldamage6-9 to r/kindleindia [link] [comments]

Deinfluence me from getting a second ereader please! Aka, I'm really disappointed with my Kindle Paperwhite 12.
I got my kindle paperwhite 12 a few days ago and I'm already considering a second ereader because of several reasons. 1) I messed up the jailbreak and the kindle updated, so I'm stuck with the kindle ecosystem. Sideloading works fine, but the books are so cluttered on the kindle OS. I tried putting them in folders, but the books are still available on the main screen even after I've put them in folders. And the folders are so ugly. I wish they would put a book cover on the folder. Or at least help me sort them by author. Or even better, by genre! The books I have all have metadata. 2) I really miss having color. I'm considering kobo clara color, kobo libra color, or onyx boox go 7 color. On the other hand, I do primarily read books on this device, so colors are more a want than a need. 3) I sent a few illustrated files to kindle for my toddler's bedtime reading (I am a bad seed) and it crashed the kindle. My kindle is brand new and it's crashed every time I tried to open the books up. I'm leaning towards the boox for this reason because I'm worried that the kobo will have the same problem. Maybe an android system is needed to get illustrated books working? This could be a result of the newest update too, which leads me to 4- 4) My kindle keeps crashing and books keep being 'unable to open'. I get the white screen of death or an error that tells me to redownload the file from amazon storefront. These are children's books (8 pages long) that I transferred using the 'send to kindle' method. They're books I've successfully opened and read before. It's so frustrating. It is fixed by resetting the device, but the fact that it's happening at all irks me to no end. I got the kindle paperwhite because I'm primarily reading novels on it and I read here that kindle is probably the best black and white ereader around. I just wasn't anticipating so many issues and grievances with it! Or that my toddler would see me reading and demand that I read to him even though I have so many colorful board books for him! Maybe I'm being too demanding. On the bright side, kindles seem to have a really good second hand marketplace, so if I do end up getting a second one, I could try and sell this one. I just need someone to tell me if I should continue using this until amazon comes up with an update that fixes the crashing, or get a second one ereader. Talked me out/in to it please! submitted by /u/Bitter_Dragonfly_651 to r/ereader [link] [comments]

Kindle Paperwhite Advice
I just bought a Kindle Paperwhite. With the special offer, it was $5 more for the Signature Edition, so I went with that one. Could you please give me some tips and tricks? Which cover do you recommend, and how can I set it up so it’s comfortable to read? But most of all, please tell me everything I need to know because this is my first Kindle ever. Kobo Libra Color vs Kobo Clara BW vs Kindle Paperwhite vs Kindle Basic (2022)
Hi everyone, I recently got to try and shortly own each of these readers coming from a Kindle Basic (2022) and wrote some thoughts below from my experience. Feel free to ask any questions. I already owned a Kindle Basic (2022), but since my wife also was looking to get an e-reader to maybe get into reading, I went ahead and bought another e-reader for myself and gave the Basic to my wife. I ordered a Kobo Libra Color, Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo Clara BW. My idea would be to try out all of them, keep the one I preferred and return the others. Note: I sideload all my books so the whole Amazon ecosystem discussion is not really relevant to me. I also don’t take any notes in the books. I mostly read at night at home. My main criteria when choosing was actual reading experience. Kobo vs Kindle: · I prefer Kobo’s overall UI, seems better organized, although slower that Kindle’s UI. · Kindle’s default font is my favorite on readability. · Kobo’s textured back feels nicer and more premium in my opinion. · Both Kobo’s had more ghosting when compared with both Kindles, especially the KLC. · Kindle’s power button placement – what the f*ck Amazon? Kobo Libra Color (225€) Pros o Buttons to change pages – why is this not standard? o Ergonomics - Side lip to hold it while reading is more comfortable. o Color screen – it’s nice to see the book covers in color or for comics, but that’s about it for pros o Premium feel o Bigger screen while retaining good ergonomics. o Textured back feels nice and premium. Cons o Darker screen, I always had to read at 70-80% brightness when not with direct sunlight. Even with sunlight, sometimes I put it at 20% to be comfortable. o Fuzzier screen and “glitter”-like effect, it’s just not as nice as the BW screens. Actual reading in BW is just worse and, for me, it’s noticeable. My eyes would get tired way faster. o Battery is not that good when compared with the others (I guess also due to the need to up the brightness). Kindle Paperwhite (180€) Pros o Best looking display. Seems crispier, better contrast, background looks whiter. o Awesome battery. o Bigger screen means fewer page turns. o Very fast, I found both Kobos more sluggish. Cons o I prefer the more plastic feeling of the Basic and Kobo e-readers than the rubbery back of the PW. o Heaviest, the least ergonomic of the bunch. Kobo Clara BW (150€) Pros o Crisp screen o Lightweight o Waterproof and warm light I guess, when compared with the Kindle Basic. Cons o Greyish screen, this is not really a con but a matter of preference, but I prefer the more white-looking background from the Kindles. Kindle Basic 2022 (110€) Pros o Cheapest. o Lightweight. o Crisp screen. o Good battery (specially for the price). Cons o No waterproof or warm light (not really that important to me). o The KPW screen has slightly more contrast. Maybe the Basic 2024 version would be equal with the updated display but side to side is just barely noticeable. You would never notice the difference switching between the two. o Blueish screen – still I prefer it to the Kobo Clara BW greyish screen. Conclusion: In the end, I kept the Kindle Paperwhite and returned the others. The screen is just better and gave me the best overall reading experience. I read mostly at home so portability is not a factor and I can live with the added weight. If my wife didn’t want an e-reader I would honestly return all and keep the Kindle Basic. It’s light and therefore very comfortable to hold, good screen, good battery life and cheap! 99% of my reading is at home and nowhere near water so waterproofing is not really important for me. If waterproofing and warm light would be important to you, then I would go with the Kobo Clara BW, but for me the +40€ in the price tag is not really worth it. If most of your reading are “normal” BW books, then I wouldn’t get a colored screen, not worth it in my view with the current technology. But I will for sure miss the buttons in the KLC. submitted by /u/JagBoozy to r/ereader [link] [comments]

What’s your favorite kindle paperwhite case with a cover?
I have the paperwhite signature 12th gen in the metallic green color and love it so much. I’m currently using a kindle case I got from Etsy. It has a cover, a strap & stand, and it’s magnetic on the back as well to keep the cover in place when reading. I do love this case but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions? This one is a bit bulky and heavy. I’d love some recommendations for a slimmer case that also has a cover, maybe a clear back as well. Thanks! submitted by /u/DragonflyNatural9143 to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Worthy successor to an old Kindle Paperwhite?
I have an old paperwhite (3rd gen i think?) that is on its last legs. Battery dies in under a week and rapidly getting worse. Other than that, it's a great device that only got better with koreader + calibre. I'm curious what other devices are out there right now that are a worthy upgrade. I'm not super tied to the kindle ecosystem since I got my amazon purchases off the device and have been using calibre to manage my library. With a new device I'll be buying books, using libby (US), and sideloading. It seems like everyone's pushing towards color these days but I'm concerned about text legibility. I don't read comics or picture books ever, so the only use case would be to view book covers. Devices I researched: Kobo Clara BW - this looks like the most obvious choice. The only drawback for me is that it doesn't have buttons which would be nice to have Boox Go 7 BW - Maybe the most feature rich option? I like the form factor and the buttons, but the amount of configuration and tweaking seem a bit much for me. Also android might be a little overkill for my use case Kobo Libra Color - I love the form factor and size of this device but the color screen seems like a non-starter. Sad I missed the boat on the libra 2 or sage before they got discontinued Pocketbook Era / Verse Pro - These look like solid devices, but I couldn't really tell from reviews what the usability is like. Are they easy to buy/borrow books in the US? Kindle paperwhite (latest) - Maybe the best device in terms of ease of use and hardware, but jailbreaking (to sideload via calibre sync) is only going to get harder and harder on newer devices. Also no buttons. Would love opinions from people who have tried any of these devices! submitted by /u/TheDarkness1227 to r/ereader [link] [comments]

I've discovered why covers don't show anymore on my Kindles
Hello, I live in France. I don't know if this bug is a world-wide occurrence. Let me set the scene. I had planned to sell my Paperwhite SE and change my mind. So I re-configured it. Most of my books are displayed with their covers. But for 129 of them, it is impossible to display the cover. I tried restarting several times. I tried pressing and holding the power button. The e-reader is up to date with version 5.18.6. I disconnected my account and then reconnected it. It's always the same books that don't display: BOOKS THAT ARE NO LONGER FOR SALE ON Amazon France. I'm shocked and very annoyed with Amazon. I have over a thousand ebooks on my two e-readers. This means that as ISBNs are changed and ebooks are removed from the platform, the covers will disappear. Following Amazon's disrespectful decision last year, I had already started migrating to Kobo. For those who don't know, Amazon decided to make it impossible to transfer ebooks via a USB cable. I was so right to do so. How can a technical bug like this still exist? Are the technical teams working on this issue? Does Amazon intend to fix the bug, apologize to its loyal customers (why am I, really?), and offer financial compensation?😡 I posted on the French Amazon Community website. And will contact the customer service if their answer isn't satisfactory. So just a warning for people who plan on buying a Kindle. UPDATE : There's a work-around solution. It takes some time but it works great. Check the second page of this post : https://uk.amazonforum.com/s/question/0D7at000007WkGbCAK/detail submitted by /u/Mahouzilla to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Happily using a Kobo again after 10 years! 💖✨ (initial thoughts and comparison with Kindle Paperwhite)
Why KLC? I wanted to get e-books out from the library, especially manga. I stopped reading manga for years because I don't like reading on my laptop, and it wasn't worth the fuss of going to the library. I wanted physical page turn buttons and the shape seemed to work better with how I hold my e-readers. I thought colour might be fun - and would differentiate it even more from my Paperwhite so it wouldn't feel wasteful like I had 2 of the same thing. First impressions Yikes, Did I Make A Mistake? The screen kinda sucked. It just looked dark, grey and grainy. It felt nowhere near as bright and crisp as my Kindle. If my face was too close, I could see all of the colour pixels. This was super annoying, and made me wonder if I had accidentally downgraded. But actually, it was fine after a few hours of use. I got used to the screen quite quickly, and it didn't feel as dark anymore. I don't actually hold the screen close enough to my face to see the pixels during a normal reading session. Turning on the "reduce rainbow effect" setting really helped. The shop I went to didn't have any Kobos on display, and only had the black KLC in stock. I was tempted to wait and get the white one instead, but I'm actually very happy with my choice. I saw people saying that the black gave the illusion of higher contrast (and it looked that way from photos), and I knew from a video that the yellow case I wanted looked pretty good on it. Reasons I love my KLC It's very fun seeing book covers and art in colour. The integration with Overdrive/Libby is a dream. I love it. The user interface is great. It feels uncluttered, the font looks nicer, it's easier to navigate, and just looks better to me than the Kindle interface overall. The interface doesn't feel like a storefront. I don't feel like it's always trying to sell me things, which is what my Kindle felt like. It feels more balanced to hold compared to my Paperwhite. The shape lets me hold in my hand comfortably, without covering any part of the screen. However, the buttons aren't in the most comfortable place for me to press when I'm holding it, and I don't like the feedback from it too much. It's not very clicky. KLC accessories After deciding I liked my KLC and was going to keep it, I decided I might as well go all-out on accessories. The SleepCover case in Butter Yellow was a softer yellow than I expected, but still very lovely. It has a nice texture, smooth and soft but not slippery. It does feel higher quality than the cheaper cases that I've used for my Kindles. Is the remote completely superfluous? Yes. Do I love it? Also yes. It's super convenient, and so clicky. Stuff I like better about my Kindle Paperwhite (11th Gen) The screen is crisper and I don't see multi-coloured pixels. I have pretty bad eyesight, so sometimes I do hold my e-reader pretty close to my face when I'm reading in bed without glasses. The entire front of my Paperwhite is flat which makes for easier cleaning as dust and crumbs can't get stuck around the screen. The battery life is much better, and I didn't need to charge it much despite being a heavy reader. Summary I was super on-the-fence about getting a KLC as they're not cheap and I already had a nice e-reader. Now that I've used it for a few days, I don't regret it at all and know I'll get a lot of use out of it. I'm really looking forward to get books out from my local library more. These have been my thoughts on the KLC, and hopefully they can be useful to someone else thinking about one. Have an awesome 2026 and wishing you all a wonderful year of reading! submitted by /u/stitchlings to r/kobo [link] [comments]

No. One. Sees. My. Kindle. Library. - short funny Christmas smut panic
For Christmas my husband got me kindle paperwhite and Im in love. 16gb, my color, my cover, Black and White ONLY! Perfection. No notes. Only my in-laws were over allllll day. For 10 hours, i barely touched it. I was terrified my in laws would ask to see it and how it's different from other e-readers. They've never seen/heard of a paperwhite and all I had done was turn it on and log in. Not settings, no locks, brand new, full library on display. And I will burn myself alive before my in-laws see my kindle library!!!! No. Never. I'll fake a leg cramp, and drop kick the device out of the house first. So all day I was picking it up for 2 mins then dramatically, "Oh, it needs to charge." And setting it down while NOT CHARGING IT. Anyway. They're gone. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals. 🤣😘 submitted by /u/fatapolloissexy to r/RomanceBooks [link] [comments]

My thoughts - Kindle Paperwhite 2024 vs Kobo Libra Colour vs Kobo Clara BW
I thought I'd share my thoughts on these devices, on the off chance it helps someone else with their decision making. First, I like all three - almost too much, because often I want to use one I'm not! If you end up chosing any of these three, I think you've got a very good ereader. For context, since 2020 my primary eReader had been a Kindle Oasis. I liked the screen, but the battery life wasn't great and with a case on holding it felt awkward - the flat front made it a weird triangular shape when folded behind during reading. In 2022 I bought a scribe (new thing), and while I loved its thinness and screen, I only really used it sitting in an armchair. Not curled up in bed, not on my commute. It proved much more convenient just to use my phone in these circumstances. When the new Kobos came out I pretty quickly succumbed to the temptation of a colour ereader. Did I need colour? No. But new and shiny (see above). I chose the Libra colour, thinking it was essentially a like-for-like replacement of my Oasis but with the following advantages: Not locked into the Amazon ecosystem Retained the page turn buttons and 'handle' Flat back Better battery Colour (albeit in my use case this just meant covers in colour) Stylus support, so I could use it as a notebook. For 6 months it was my main ereader, and I still really like it. But to summarise my thoughts on it: The software was great and very liberating compared to Amazon. The screen is grainy, which is fine - it just looks like textured paper. I quite liked that aspect. But it's also dark, and in just about any lighting condition the built in light is required. This I found noticable and I felt more like I was using a screen than on my Kindles. The device felt quite wide, particularly in its Sleepcover case which adds a stylus holder. This meant it was often more comfortable to hold two handed, which wasn't always comfortable (standing on a train, lying on my side in bed). The lop-sided nature due to the buttons and large bezel means when changing hand you have to rotate the device. This is very, very minor but I did find it distracting sometimes and took me away from the book. For my personal use case, the stylus was a completely unnecessary feature. Colour was unnecessary 95% of the time. So a great device, and the above sounds more negative than I feel about it, but not perfect. Then Amazon announced new Kindles. I succumbed for the second time in the year, and got the 2024 Paperwhite. I got the jade green signature edition. Thoughts on using this for 6 months: Superb screen. This was the reason I got it - it offered me a screen the quality of my Scribe, but in a more portable form. 'Send to Kindle' and Whispersync. There wasn't much I missed from Amazon on the software side, but I did use these features a lot to swap between PC / Phone / Kindle. The device feels very premium. I love the jade green and flush screen. Rectangular shape - felt much more natural to move from one hand to the other, and it is lighter than then Libra colour. No need to rotate the device! Distraction free, in that regard at least. ~75% of my books are from Amazon, so it was familiar and easy to return. Then Amazon stopped with the 'Download and Transfer' option, and I became more wary of being locked into that ecosystem. I missed the Kobo software. So my thoughts strayed to the Kobo Clara BW. Could I have the best of both worlds? Kobo software with an excellent black and white screen. After a couple of months of thinking about it, yesterday I bit the bullet. The main hestiation, beyond having several perfectly functional devices, was the smaller screen. I like the 7" form. But, from 2011-2020 I had a 6" screen kindle, so I hoped I'd adjust back quickly, and so far it feels pretty natural. Initial thoughts on the Clara BW: It feels the purest ereader, which is part nostaglia with the recessed screen taking me back to my first kindle but also part not requiring any backlight in most daytime situations so far. Screen is great. Perhaps not quite Paperwhite level, although I don't think you'd notice and the Clara has less glare anyway due to the lack of an extra layer of glass for the flushed screen. Very easy to hold. So far, so good. Will have to decide if I'm selling the others - clearly I don't actually need all 3. But I do like them all... Paperwhite would be easiest to jettison now, but it still feels the most premium of the three. Attached photos are all at 0% brightness, just for comparisons sake. Anyway, if anyone is like me and struggles to chose devices, then perhaps some of the above is of interest. submitted by /u/Mattzo12 to r/kobo [link] [comments]

Switched to Kobo Libra Colour from Kindle Paperwhite!
So, my wife surprised me with this anniversary present a few days early! I have had a Kindle for last 7 years and was planning to switch since a while! Haven't got the stylus as I feel I won't be using it a lot. Excited to unpack this and set it up! Mostly, to set up Overdrive and borrow books from Libby. submitted by /u/LessWerewolf to r/kobo [link] [comments]

Missing Covers from 2024 Kindle Colorsoft when SideLoaded from Calibre v7.20
So I recently purchased a 2021 11th edition Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and not 10 days later the new 2024 models were released to include the Colorsoft. I decided to take advantage of my 30 day warranty and upgrade for longer term support and the color options. Now, I have the Colorsoft and setting it up and sideloading from Calibre. I upgraded from 7.19 to 7.20 today prior to connecting the new 2024 Kindle. Now, the fun part... Some of my book covers show that were sideloaded from Calibre, and others do not. All of them worked on the 2021 Paperwhite edition. I am stumped on trying to get those that did not show to show up. I could use help if anyone has figured it out... Starting to wonder if I should be returning the 2024 model and keeping the 2021 model!!! /frustrated. -------------------------------------------- Aside from that, there are some other changes, I will note here for others that may be looking for information: 1.) You can no longer download from your Amazon account for "Transfer via USB." Only my old Kindle Fire shows up. Even with the previously downloaded file or if I download it by choosing my Fire, there are issues. 1a.) This has lead to an "error" message when trying to read a book I downloaded from Amazon, put in Calibre to update some metadata for easier book sort by title/author. I now get a message stating that the book is registered to another user and has to be downloaded from the cloud to be able to read it. 2) I had it set up on my 2021 Signature Edition model to save sideloaded books under Books/{author_sort}/{title}/{title} - {authors}. That pathway is now ignored and it doesn't make the "books" folder. It simply puts the books where it wants which is Internal Storage/documents. 2a) Attempts to create a pathway have failed for me, but is minor as I don't manage my books from the backend device anyways. I do it from Calibre, but would have preferred the ability to keep it clean with better organization on the backend if I ever need to be in there manually deleting or making changes. 2b) I believe the pathway failing to establish, even though set up in Calibre, is because it is no longer treating the device like a standard USB. I read it is some Android format... [EDIT: It is MTP format] 2c) Ejecting the device from Calibre no longer actually ejects it. There is no eject option as a USB device on the PC either. You have to properly eject it from the touchscreen of the device itself. Also assumed due to new format. submitted by /u/dragonfirebullion to r/Calibre [link] [comments]

Dont Get a kindle paperwhite signature edition....
For a Long time i heard the rumours, i Just didnt wanna belivie them... What type of monsters Would make a device like that... If they (the rumours) turned out to be true.... One wedensday evening i bit the proverbial bullet, and ordered one... Not Even 2 weeks later it showed up in my mail... And there it was... Tiny, unassuming and flat... 32gb of storage... And my Cork cover next to it.... This is the day it all started... As the rumours turned out to be true after all... ............. You DO read more on a kindle. It DOES feel less like Reading in all the negative ways a book can.. Books are CHEAPER, and take less shelf space... And now, instead of "forcing" myself, its almost an Addiction... I read so much, and discover so much about myself and my tastes.. It Even has some sort of timemachine/teleport abilities... I can be "in the now" or on mars or in the days of the fire being invented... All by the swipe/push of a finger.. So all of the above, + it gives you a temp education/class needed to be a killer, a poper, a pirate or a pawn or a king.. And so much more.... For the price of this device.. Not to mention.. Commutes to work feel shorter. So does waiting for stuff or people. I no longer count tiles or cement picks in the celing at night, but % or Page number of a book... So dear reader of this warning so grim and Wonderfu... I mean dark.... Only Get a Kindle Paperwhite signature edition, if you wanna change your Reading and life for the bette.. I mean "Worse".... submitted by /u/WastelandViking to r/kindle [link] [comments]
