New to Korean skincare — did I choose a good routine to start with?
I’m new to Korean skincare and decided to start my routine with these products. I’m still learning about K-beauty, so I’d really appreciate your opinions. Do you think I made a good choice to begin with? If you have experience with them, I’d love to hear how they worked for you. Also, if you have advice for a beginner or other products you’d recommend that are known to give good results, please let me know. submitted by /u/Upstairs_Strength436 to r/koreanskincare [link] [comments]

rate my korean skincare !!
I’m really obsessed with K-beauty right now😂😂 and honestly I’ve been loving my routine so far.. Most of the products I’m currently using came from Seoul Beauty Club, it was included in my January and February boxes (this isn’t all of the products in my routine, just some of the ones I’ve been using the most) So far my skin has been responding pretty well which I love.. it’s more hydrated and calmer overall. is there anything missing in this routine or anything you’d suggest adding or changing? Would appreciate any tips or advice! submitted by /u/Efficient-Corgi6934 to r/koreanskincare [link] [comments]

Takes forever, but gets better. Trust the process.
Now vs. Then (September 2024) I've had oily, acne-prone skin with plenty of hyperpigmentation since I was a teen. But it was mostly hormonal acne, and it was never anything like that second image. That was some kind of infection that I think I got from swimming in very unclean water. At first, I spent like a month using overly harsh cleansers and actives, washing my face too often, not eating in a way that could help my body fight the infection off, not drinking NEARLY enough water for the healing I wanted to achieve, and basically just making everything even worse. Then, when I finally saw a dermatologist, I was initially given doxycyline and clindamycin, but I was NOT making the best of it. I was playing around eating a bunch of dairy still, not putting on sunscreen (and not re-applying often enough when I remembered to), and still using harsh facewash and toners because I thought they would help (spoiler: they did not). So it felt like I just kept applying and applying for like three months and not seeing any sort of improvement. I was literally living my entire life outside with one of those covid masks on every single day because I hated the thought of being seen so much, and yet I still wasn't doing the best for myself. Thankfully, I ran across a youtube video about "things you don't realize are hurting your skin" and actually listened to it properly for once, then did a bunch of research (though I still made mistakes ngl) and changed my habits. This is a list of steps I took (copied from my reply to a different post): I used a clean cotton shirt on top of my pillow case and changed it literally every night because the oil and bacteria leftover plus my hair products were just too much for my skin to fight I tried to drink at least 10 glasses of water with a day, more if I could (like I literally used alarms on my phone to remind me) I used benozyl peroxide 10% face wash every morning (\NOTE* - this was one of the mistakes! Apparently I should've been using it only at night!)* (ask your dermatologist first, sometimes there are combined benozyl peroxide+tretinoin creams you can use instead, but using them as separate products might require only using one in the morning or something, it depends) and only the cerave gentle cleanser at night I bought hydrocolloid bandages and cut them to fit specific parts of my face and used them every day, at home and under a mask when outside, sometimes even changing them two or three times a day (these are the big version of acne patches) I used sunscreen (SPF 50 PA++++, I use a Korean brand called singmulnara/식물나라) daily and reapplied regularly even tho it felt greasy and just un-fun sometimes I cut down my dairy and sugar consumption to as little as my happiness could tolerate I started taking bromelain supplements because they're anti-inflammatory I didn't use any exfoliating actives or physical exfoliation until like eight months in when my skin was a lot better I only moisturized with cerave, sometimes with a drop or two of a niacinimide and cica serum in my hand before I applied it Those are the main steps that made a HUGE change in the initial healing, and after around four months of this, my dermatologist put me onto a low dosage isotretinoin (10mg, twice a day) that did some serious heavy lifting in getting rid of the last of the acne. There were a few times long after the initial "purge" worsening period when I'd just get a huge cyst overnight seemingly, but I was able to go in for steroid injections directly into the pimple that just magicked them away within a few hours (and yes, it was absolutely mind-blowing every single time), or other times I put a tiny bit of the paula's choice benozyl peroxide gel directly onto it as soon as I noticed it forming and that usually made it go away. I just finished with the isotretinoin at the end of January. My current routine: Day: Cleanser: Cerave Gentle Cleanser Toner: ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Toner Serum: I rotate through these - APLB Glutathione Niacinimide, APLB AHA BHA PHA Centella, APLB Kojic Avid and Vitamin C (note: I currently live in Korea so these are more convenient, but when I go back I will be using Medicube serums if I can't get them probably) Moisturizer: Cerave Moisturizing Cream (in the tub) - I use a plastic makeup scoop instead of my hands to get a bit out and drop the serum into it Sunscreen: Singmulnara Light Watery Sun Gel (note: I will probably switch to ROUND LAB when I get back to America, I am fully convinced by Korean skincare at this point) Night: Cleanser: ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil, then Cerave Acne Foaming Wash (10% Benozyl Peroxide) Toner: ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Toner >> I always do a Face Mask at night (yes every night) for 10~15 minutes, just any random one from those bulk face mask packages (like the Dermal ones) with the occasional premium one from Medicube Serum: the same ones I rotate through in the morning, as above Moisturizer: Cerave Moisturizing Cream (with serum mixed in) Random Other Things: I still drink hella water, and I still change my pillowcase frequently (and my towels, I have a separate one only for my face and I never re-use them after I shower, I'm like traumatized or something tbh). I still take the bromelain, but I'm probably gonna stop when this bottle runs out. I take collagen supplements in the morning. Sometimes I smear my whole face with a thin layer of aquaphor at night if I feel dried out for some reason. Also I keep my face masks in the fridge because the freezing cold mask after a hot shower is supposed to be good, and it does make my nose less red for a while. And I use a pimple patch the moment I see even a tiny dot of red anywhere on my face, even if it hasn't even itched yet, because why risk it??? But yeah. This is just to share progress, and to say that it does get better and you can overcome your acne, but it may take some lifestyle changes and it DEFINITELY takes a lot of consistency and actually listening to medical advice. And... A hella long time. submitted by /u/sinkintothesea to r/Blackskincare [link] [comments]

(22) to (30) - my 8 year glow up journal "trigger warning- S-word and ab**e"
Lifetime natural (no steroids, testosterone or SARMS and no clen, GLP1 nor diuretics). Just training and diet. So... where do I begin. I guess I will start with my childhood. I am of Korean & Chinese descent and growing up with a formerly abusive Korean mother destroyed my childhood into a million pieces. Being locked out of the house for hours on multiple occasions starting from age 6 after being told 'you are not my son anymore get out' and almost being abandoned on the side of the road like a dog being abandoned after being screamed at. Kicked, thrown onto the floor, beaten with utensils. This is quite par for the course in many Korean households. Obviously my confidence was non existent and the concept of unconditional love is as foreign to me as a fish trying to learn calculus. I coped with escapism- mainly gaming but also food. I was slamming costco pizzas, full sugar sodas, cookies and biscuits, shin ramen, entire mcdonald's family meals like no tomorrow. Combine that with being neurodivergent (ADHD), social situations were an effort in constant masking; terrified that I'll be judged. Then I saw Zyzz and his unshakeable confidence and I wanted to be like him. I decided that getting aesthetic would help me know what it feels like to.. just be. Exist in the world without performance and be my weird self without being judged. So in Feb 2018 I joined the gym and simply got started. After 7 years of training, I had cleaned up my diet (minimal UPF's but still indulged occasionally, cut out all added sugars except from sauces and marinades) and didn't count calories at all. I achieved 15-17% bodyfat from my starting point of 25-30% and was physically healthy. However, I was still languishing in self hatred, always hiding myself in a hoodie or baggy clothing and avoiding social situations like the plague. Still masking like I always did. I had now progressed onto having frequent ideations of the unsubscribe-from-life sort. Wrote a will on my phone and practiced dry runs with plastic bags. Started to use alcohol to dull the pain. I had lost almost all interest in the gym, barely getting in two workouts a week. Training for strength, learning powerlifting and seeing my lifts go up was the only thing that kept me from quitting. I still felt ugly and invisible. I was seriously considering going to Korea to get plastic surgery on my face because I felt that ugly. Then one day about 2 months ago, I changed gyms and somehow that triggered my ADHD brain to hyperfocus on fitness for some unknown reason and decided to try to get absolutely diced to the bone shredded as one last hurrah to see how I look before deciding on plastic surgery. And well... after hitting 8-10% bodyfat the experience was absolutely magical. Lifechanging. Heavenly. The newfound pretty privilege I was experiencing for the first time ever in 30 years of life constantly re-cycled my confidence into myself. Being called attractive, being complimented near daily both in and out of the gym by people of all genders. Being treated like an actual human instead of a fly to be swatted away. No longer feeling invisible. More importantly, it taught me that I am not the complete failure that I was thought I was. That I achieved this new body with my own resilience, discipline and long term planning. I went from never styling my hair, neglecting my skincare routine, wearing baggy clothing to now being proud of my entire body; not just my physique but my face and hair. My mental health has skyrockted (even though sometimes the depression returns in short bursts but quickly recovers) because I have this armour of being aesthetic and that no matter what happens- judgement, rejection or whatever, that I still have this body that I built myself. I've started coming out of my shell and I am starting to stop being ashamed of my quirks. I am a raver at heart since age 14 and I love to dance so I've recently been blasting hardstyle at full volume and dancing in between my lifting sets in public. If you have ADHD then you know we can't sit still and love to stim when we have nothing to do and my preferred stim is a dance called the 'muzz' or simply pacing around. They can think i'm weird all they want but I am being myself. I know I still have a LONG way to go before I am internally healed and that my external glow up is only the kickstarter to the more important internal glow up. But I can stand loud and proud that I no longer view myself as a failure. Thank you for reading and may we all heal from our traumas submitted by

I’m extremely confused… can someone please explain lol
Was picking up some groceries at my local Kroger this evening (I live on the east coast in the US) and saw that they’ve randomly added a Korean skincare section. Ok cool! Unexpected but I obviously love that Kbeauty is becoming more easily accessible at places like Ulta and Target etc - my main question is how the hell are they selling the Korean formula of the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen? The filters in the OG formula are, to my knowledge, not FDA approved, which is why we get stuck with the god awful US reformulations sold at Sephora and the like, but I triple checked the packaging and ingredients, this is not the US formulation, no “broad spectrum” to be found and the INCI list is identical to the OG Korean formula. Can someone explain this to me? I’m extremely confused! submitted by /u/hillary_____k to r/AsianBeauty [link] [comments]

Korean skincare spotted in French dept store
I saw these at Galleries Lafayette! I posted about french pharmacies carrying k-beauty a few months ago, and the prices are still as insane lol (except for the boj ones imo). I wouldn't say asian skincare is mainstream yet, but it's definitely getting more popular; popular enough for big department stores to carry these products! submitted by /u/Sorry-Pomelo6 to r/AsianBeauty [link] [comments]

[Acne] Struggled with a decade of acne and been clear for 5 years. Here is everything I’ve tried vs everything that’s worked + my current routine.
pic 1: taken AFTER my accutane course. my acne here is still much better in this then it used to be. Apologies for the low quality, I hated pictures because I was super insecure hence why I don’t have ones from before accutane either. pic 2: makeup only on my eyes and lips, nothing on my skin except sunscreen and moisturizer. My eyebrows are microbladed. FULL DISCLOSURE #1: I am not a dermatologist nor a licensed esthetician. I am a registered nurse with a basic understanding of microbiology and human anatomy who has spent way too many hours on skincare YouTube. What I’ve detailed below is what worked for me, and by no means what works for everyone else. FULL DISCLOSURE #2: I’ve had pico laser done once in office to help with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation as well as laser removal of my flat facial moles. FULL DISCLOSURE #3: I am not sponsored by, nor do I have any conflict of interest with any of these brands I list. Things I’ve tried that didn’t work (before y’all come for me please remember that I started this journey when I was like 10 😂) - benzoyl peroxide (I am allergic 😭) - spironolactone - clay masks - scrubs/ physical exfoliation (St. Ives 😱) - peel off masks - salicylic acid acne clearing pads - proactiv (the entire set) - pore strips - Mario badescu drying lotion - witch hazel - Clinique clarifying lotion - 10 step Korean skin care routine (I didn’t curate it, I just bought blindly based off of what had good reviews 🤦♀️) - snail mucin - essence and/ or toner - Chinese medicine (I don’t even know what I was taking tbh.) - not moisturizing “because I was too oily” - any type of DIY mask (lemon juice, egg, honey, olive oil, yogurt, rice water, u name it) - topical clindamycin Things that worked but don’t currently use: - Accutane (I did a 6 month course; acne came back eventually but SO much improvement in severity) - CeraVe SA cleanser - rx Sodium Sulfacetamide cleanser (cleansing with sulfur is one of the things I truly believe saved my skin. I still break out when I go without my sulfur for too long. I think it’s bullshit when people say your face wash doesn’t matter - sulfur absolutely matters for me) - oral doxycycline (worked only while I was actively using, but was worried about antimicrobial resistance) - ZitSticka Skin Discipline multivitamin capsules (genuinely helped my skin but was too expensive and was able to wean off of them over the course of trial and error x 1 year) Current Regimen AM: - cleanse CeraVe hydrating cream to foam cleanser - serum: glossier super pure (niacinamide and zinc - been repurchasing this for over 6 years now) - moisturizer: glossier after baume (my HG moisturizer: super thick and luxurious but doesn’t break me out) - sunscreen + vit c: melano CC sunscreen spf 50++++ PM - first cleanse: glossier milky jelly cleansing balm (doesn’t really matter what first step cleanser I use tbh. I’ve used banila co, the inkey list, CeraVe makeup balm, etc. as long as it removes makeup and sunscreen well I’m good) - second cleanse: Dermaharmony 5% Sulfur and 2% Salicylic Acid Liquid Castile Soap (I switched to this from using CeraVe SA + rx Sulfur cleanser because I was tired to carrying around 2 bottles as well as having to get an rx for my sulfur wash. I absolutely still need Salicylic acid AND sulfur in my regimen. - moisturizer: glossier after baume - agency skincare formula for hyperpigmentation: tretinoin 0.035% + tranexamic acid 5% + dexpanthenol 1% + niacinamide 4% - when I’m super dry, esp in the winter: Elizabeth Arden advanced ceramide capsule (I usually just use like 1/3 of a capsule and leave the rest in the clean spot for later. Glossier future dew works okay too, just doesn’t spread as nicely) + I skip my retinol for a night General rules (these are also critically important) 1. Don’t touch your face unless you’ve just washed your hands. 2. Dedicate a towel for your face and treat it like it’s sterile. Don’t use it for anything else but your face. Don’t hang it near the toilet (invisible fecal particles erupt from your toilet when u flush). 3. Change your face towel and your pillowcases at LEAST every 4ish days. I like to do every 2. I have a million old T-shirts that can be used as pillowcases. When a side gets “old”, flip it to the other side and you’re gucci. 4. Pat when you’re drying with a towel. Be gentle. Don’t rub your face ever. I also prefer to lather my face wash with a foaming net until I have a thick, dense cloud. You don’t want to be tugging or manually scrubbing at your skin. Let the micro bubbles do the work. 5. Please wash that damn makeup sponge/ brush with soap and water after every use 😩 and deep clean with boiling water if it’s safe to do so every couple of uses. I just throw my wet beauty blender in the microwave with some water in a bowl for 3 minutes every 6-7 uses (the manufacturer does not recommend this as it may cause the blender to deform or lose integrity. I’ve never had an issue. Move forward at your own discretion) Treat your makeup like it’s sterile too - only a clean brush/ clean finger is allowed to touch it. Sorry it’s so long! I hope this helps someone :) submitted by /u/plaesma to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

review - “barrier repair” korean skincare i’ve tried
This is going to be a part one cause I tried a lot of products! My skin type: normal-combo, oily due to dehydration, prone to congestion and hormonal chin acne. Tested during different times of the year. 📍PURITO B5 Panthenol Moisturizer + Bamboo Panthenol Cream: These both are very hydrating and give the best glow and are damaged-skin-barrier friendly. The problem is that i think they are great for oily and combo skin, but they might not be moisturizing enough for drier and dry skin types. I struggled with oil-overproduction since this this didn’t lock in moisture as well as i wanted too. Ialso used it for a year + but then it suddenly started to break me out 📍SKIN1004 Madagascar Ampoule: For me personally this really helped my reactive and red skin and calmed it down - especially when i HAD BROKEN TF OUT OF MY BARRIER - this was the only product that didn't sting when i applied it. Even when my moisturizer and cleanser stung, this one didn't. very simple and unlikely to break anyone out (unless they have centella allergy). I am on my second bottle but I don't reach out for it as much these days. While it is great for faster skin barrier repair and soothing redness, i don't struggle with these anymore and i struggle more with dehydration 📍 medicube- PDRN PINK Caffeine Night Wrapping mask: While this is very fun to use and its sparkly and everything, you need to use GOOD QUALITY products underneath it for it to really do the work. This mostly acts like a "seal" for all the products you put on your skin previosly. I tried using this one w/o moisturizer beneath it and my skin felt dehydrated in the morning Also hate that when i peel it off my skin is tinted so you basically HAVE TO WASH THE GLOW AWAY 📍 Abib - Rice probiotics overnight mask: I much prefer this one over the medicube one! I feel like with this one you actually wake up with plumped and hydrates skin - not sure how much it does for barrier repair, but it didn't sting when i had a broken barrier I also sometimes use it on pimple scabs to heal them faster- WHICH THEY ACTUALLY DO, so i feel like it could also do a very good job at repairing the barrier. 📍 Purito Wonder Releaf Centella Serum Unscented: Super nice and simple and calming - almost the same opinion as Centella ampoule by Skin1004, but this one is more comforting and hydrating. My sister loves it and has gone thru 2 bottles of it (she has combo-oily skin) submitted by /u/EnvironmentalEmu2912 to r/koreanskincare [link] [comments]

Is Korean Skincare Really Worth the Hype? Growing Popularity in India
Lately, I’ve been noticing a huge rise in the popularity of Korean skincare brands in India - from COSRX and Innisfree to Beauty of Joseon and Laneige. Even offline stores and beauty retailers are stocking up on K-beauty products, and the buzz is everywhere - YouTube, Instagram reels, even local beauty parlours are recommending them. I started using a few K-beauty products myself (COSRX Snail Mucin, Beauty of Joseon Sunscreen, and some sheet masks), and I have to say… the results have been surprisingly good. The focus on hydration, skin barrier repair, and gentle ingredients seems to work well in our climate too. What I find interesting is how these products cater to skin health more than just “fairness” or “instant glow” , which has been a common theme in Indian skincare for so long. Here are a few thoughts I’d love to discuss: Why do you think Korean skincare is gaining so much traction in India? Which K-beauty products have worked for you (or not)? Do you think the hype is justified, or are we just following a global trend? Would love to hear your thoughts and product recommendations — especially from folks who’ve been using them for a while or have sensitive/acne-prone skin like mine 🙋🏻♀️ submitted by /u/Alive-Tour1152 to r/koreanskincare [link] [comments]

Your holy grails in Korean skincare?
Hey everyone! 😊 I’ve recently gotten into Korean skincare and I’m loving it so far. I’ve been using the Beauty of Joseon SPF (so good!), their retinol eye cream, and I’ve also tried the Medicube and Biodance masks — all of which I’ve really enjoyed. I’m trying to keep my routine pretty basic, but I’d love to hear about your absolute holy grails. Why aren’t sheet masks that popular in the US? Just curious
Hey, I’m a Korean working in the US, and I’ve been curious about this. Most of my friends from Korea and Japan (myself included lol) use sheet masks pretty regularly—it’s just part of our routine. But with my American friends and coworkers, it feels more like an occasional ‘self-care night’ thing rather than something they do often. Is it because it feels like too much effort? Or do people not really see noticeable results? Personally, I love how refreshed my skin feels after just 20 mins, so I’ve been wondering if it’s more about cultural differences in skincare habits or just personal preference. Would love to hear your thoughts—do you use sheet masks regularly, or nah? submitted by /u/ChocoLitVibes to r/KoreanBeauty [link] [comments]

Korean skincare products in September
I'm working at a Korean skincare related company in Korea and conduct market research on Olive Young, Korea's largest beauty retailer, both online and offline. I'm not using official Olive Young data; instead, I collect data independently, but it likely resembles actual sales trends. I noticed on Reddit that many people are interested in K-beauty, but there seems to be a difference between popular products in Korea and those that are popular overseas. I thought it would be interesting to share the top-sellers by category in Korea. I organize this data weekly and monthly for work, and I am thinking of shairing it once a month here for anyone who finds it helpful. The data isn’t static over time since Olive Young has monthly promotions (Olive Young Pick), which change the product lineup. Some products remain top-sellers regardless of promotions, while others only perform well during event periods. Keep in mind this might not be perfectly accurate, so feel free to share any thoughts! * B indicates Best Seller * T indicates Trending product * The categories only cover product types. i took Accutane as a teen, and although it healed my acne, my skin has been perpetually dry and dull ever since (over a decade) and i am getting fine lines faster than other people my age. i have tried every brand it feels like, and some things have worked great, while others have made my skin so much worse. about 8 months ago i got the Peach & Lily ultra plush rich cream and loved it! i felt like my skin transformed after just a few days, so i decided to lean completely into the Korean skincare and slowly replaced my routine to only k-beauty. my skin has never looked better! i am glowy all day, even at the end of a long day with no skincare refresh. fine lines are decreasing, i never have that tight feeling, i even get asked what foundation I'm wearing when i am not wearing an ounce of makeup and people don't believe me! best part, i have only been using these products for 2 months and already have these dramatic results. i highly recommend doing Korean skincare brands that are also clean like Peach & Lily. for more affordable, Good Molecules and Knours have been just as good for toners and cleansers. but for moisturizers and serums, nothing is better than P&L IMO. honorable mention, those viral collagen masks, they are 100% worth the hype submitted by /u/lesbianagrande777 to r/30PlusSkinCare [link] [comments]

AITA for giving skincare to my 13 year old niece?
So long story short I am a 27 year old woman with a niece who is now 13 years old (long story my sister is much older than me). For her birthday I went to the korean skincare store and got her a little care package with fun bubbling or animal face masks, night cream, mist, a little serum in a cool looking bottle, a cleanser and sunscreen. My sister got mad and said I was pressuring her to conform to beauty standards. She said that the animal masks and cute bottles are fun but the inclusion of night cream and sunscreen could make her daughter already feel pressure not to age at 13. I see it as a fun way of ensuring good skin habits at an early age, considering most start their routines way too young, and I see it as a cute girly gift that she might enjoy, but my sister says 13 years old is too young and she shouldn’t be worrying about aging. AITA? submitted by /u/throwway_pigmask to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Korean beauty is 100% better and cheaper than any skincare you can purchase at Sephora prove me wrong.
Some Kbeauty brands I love. Some by mi, Benton, Mizon, Olivarrier (dual moist toning lotion with high and low weight HA is great), Tosowoong which is a tatcha dupe, cosrx, Dr. Ceuracle, I’m from ( their honey mask is amazing), missha, The plant base, (I love the 100% sodium hyaluronate serum). I am just trying to help you lovely humans have great skin and save some money! :))) submitted by /u/EEGal91 to r/Sephora [link] [comments]
