Caught a decent sized bass on a dickspoon finally. I feel accomplished. The lake I’ve been at today is like three feet deep water and full of lily pads. I’ve just been wading out into it and getting hit nonstop dragging stuff through the lilies. This might be my new favorite way of fishing.

O.P. I have a problem with arum lilies ,they must have been brought in by birds and have now spread like wildfire, I keep digging them up and they still keep coming up ,is there a herbicide specific for arum lilies? I know Glyphosate has no effect .

My mum just received a bouquet with a lily in it and I immediately put them in a different room, the issue I’m having is when I got the flowers I walked through the hallway and kitchen to get to the room. Could there be a chance the pollen might still be in the air? The cat is in my room and has had no direct contact with the flowers. (I have washed my hands and changed my t-shirt). They are still in the house because she’s too afraid of hurting the feelings of the person who gifted them. Am I being too paranoid or will she be okay? I live with my mom and her two cats she had some guests come over and they brought a bouquet of Lillie they left it outside during the evening (they came around 6pm) at around 8pm they put the vase with the flowers inside the house in the floor, I came down around 12pm at night saw the flowers freaked the F out and barricade the flowers in my apparent (cats DO NOT come in my apartment) my mom has since Barricade the cats in the room to keep on eye on them we’ve bent calling every reputable vet we can think of and nobody will take the cats (either they don’t answer) or don’t have emergency services at this hour we have scheduled the first “emergency” schedule we could 7am and we will be there, the cats have been acting absolutely fine they have had some food are not drooling or lethargic and are still “trapped inside my moms room so she can keep on eye on them. It’s currently 3:20am and I won’t be sleeping tonight I am freaking out still I cleaned the floor near the vase with soap and we cleaned the cats with a wet towel, as far as I can tell neither of them ate the flowers leaves or steam (they look complete) but obviously since i wasn’t there watching them I can’t guarantee anything. Last time i went to check on them was 3:00am one was sleeping on the floor (her usual spot) and was purring the other was sleeping with my mom in her bed (also her usual spot) she has an alarm set for 4am to check on them again and I’ll go down at 5am too see them after her “shift” then she wakes up at 6 and hopefully we are on our way to the vet around 6:30 please please help me calm down and tell me if there is anything else I can do for them other than checking on them until the appointment which is still 3:30hours from now submitted by /u/Zlatehagoat to r/cats [link] [comments]

I hope everyone doesn't mind me sharing my beautiful girl, one last time. She was 2 months shy of 11 years old. We got her from some breeders we knew on our estate, she had flat chested syndrome and they gave her to us. She came after 13 weeks and she was well reared by mum and breeders. she was an absolute dream, she didn't take long to settle and was a lap cat on the first night. She formed an unbreakable bond with me, over the coming months and i loved her like i would love a child. We hung out all the time, she was first to the door when i got home from work, she was on my lap all the time. I always called her my spirit animal. She became a highly intelligent cat, playfful, would play fetch (she learned on her 2nd day with us), she liked her alone time, she had a wail, not befitting of a Princess, usually to do with her chicken or tuna treat, or she would just go and take them out of the drawer, she was some character, She became a very important part of my life, she also grew up to be a tiny wee thing. I got the dreaded call when i was at work from my other half, her little heart had given out and i wasn't with her. We buried her by her favourite spot in the garden on the day, i couldn.t believe my warrior Princess was gone, she never gave us any signs, she was there one minute and the next... I have not grieved or cryed so much in my life as i have the past 12 days, its so hard and has left such a big hole in my life. I am learning to appreciate the time we had, i would like to have more time but i would not trade the time we had for the grief i'm feeling now. Daddy misses his little girl so much, she has made him a better person, he will always love her, till we meet again my brave warrior Princess. Please give your baby Bengals a hug from me. I bought my girlfriend a bouquet of flowers today, but when I got home I realised that there are a few lilies, deeper down. I've never had a cat before (we've just moved in together), but I know that lilies are poisonous to cats. Two were still closed, though another 2, deeper in the bouquet, had opened. As soon as I realised, I took the whole bouquet out of the house to the outside bin - the lilies were only in the house for 3 minutes max, and our cat was chilling on the opposite side of the room the whole time. I then changed clothes, scrubbed the countertop that I'd placed the bouquet on (our kitty doesn't go on the counters, though), vacuumed the room, and opened the windows to ventilate it. It's been over 3h since the lilies briefly entered the house, our cat is still snacking & playful, and isn't showing any symptoms (except for a single leg twitch while she was sleeping an hour ago). I just want to check/make sure that I've done all I can, and hopefully get some reassurance that our little bean will be okay, so I can put my mind at rest! Hi! My cats Sushi and Pancake love to go on walks and sit on the porch, but my neighborhood is filled with lilies. Across the street, the neighbors house, some along the sidewalks, in the roundabout. I know even one grain of pollen from a lily can kill a cat, and I’ve been scared to even open my window. I was wondering if it’s still safe to take my cats on their walks, or at least let them sit on the porch? Can I have my window open?? I feel like I’m way overreacting, but I know pollen is tiny and can travel, so I just want to be sure!! Thanks. I am going to preface this by saying that I am being incredibly fucking paranoid because my last cat was killed by a flower in the lily family (that we had not previously known WAS in the lily family). My stepdad didn't know lilies were so toxic to cats, got my mom a bouquet with them for their anniversary. I found them within around 30 minutes, got them out of the house entirely. Stepdad and son both claim Storm wasn't in the kitchen with them at any point since they came home. Neither of them are super attentive if a device is on nearby however, so I can't be 100% sure Storm didn't at some point wander into the kitchen and back out. So I had a scare a couple years back. I have two cats. Didn’t realize there were lilies in a birthday bouquet. I freaked out and cleaned the whole area mopped swept like crazy. Luckily they didn’t get to them and their bloodwork is fine. Since then I’ve been so traumatized and paranoid lol. At my place of work a woman always has a and orange Lilly (with the pollen stems). It’s kinda triggering because I’m so scared of hurting my cats unintentionally. I’ve been immediately washing my clothes and hair when I get home just in case. But I’m wondering, how careful do you really need to be?
