OK, I can’t compete with all of you young beauties but it’s not bad for 74 years old and at least I’m not scaring the animals! I used the b pure Essentially Ageless primer, then the LA Colors peach color correcting concealer on the dark rings under my eyes, followed by Ioni Camouflage concealer in cool light. Then I bounced the Flower Get Real serum foundation all over my face with a damp blender sponge and Pink Cowgirl hybrid blush in the coral shade. I used a dab of the pink as a highlight. Followed all that with the Kokie HD setting powder and brushed it off. I used the Kokie Define It gel eyeliner (I wish they had it in brown!) and the Beauty Intuition mascara in the rose gold case. I did my brows with the Kokie Stay Defined brow pencil in the blonde shade. Spritzed on the b pure setting spray in the fancy glass bottle and done! My lips are lined with the best ever Ioni pencil in Warm Nude and filled with matte ink liquid lipstick in peachberry. This was at 8:30 and it still looks good at 3:00 other than the lipstick that I always assume will vanish when I eat anything. I actually was heavier on the blush and eyeliner than I was with the look I posted a while ago and I’m thinking I can even get away with more. I have the Sonia Kashuk flat top foundation brush and I really like it, but after a couple of days the bristles really stiff/hard. It’s also extremely hard to clean. Update 12/16: First thank you to everyone who has chimed in. I did not expect to get so much feedback. I have decided to order her a makeup bag and I am going to put a meme card (of me wearing makeup) and inside will be a note giving her the option to go to Ulta, Sephora, or wherever she would like to get makeup. I will give her a minimum budget and a maximum budget and let her know I am 100% supportive in wherever the number lands, that way she doesn't walk away saying "ok i bought one item, lets go". Also I had her mom ask about her Christmas and throw in the idea of getting her makeup done to see what my wife says. And she wasn't thrilled about it. Since she is pregnant she doesn't want attention on her. So after the baby is here, i will start mentioning having pros do her makeup and try new things. The good thing is. She said "she really does need makeup, but she didn't want her mom to spend money on it because she struggles financially already." This the type of woman my wife is. In actuality, I really should've thought about this option before. Because she asked me to take her on a shopping spree to a Asian market and let her pick out stuff. Which i do periodically throughout the year because she loves the different fruits, ramen, and there is a company that sells these cute fruit ice creams that she is in love it. So ill just add that date into the date day. Last year i bought the specialty ice creams and wrapped them. I do skin care with fidelity (though I'm open to different products; currently using milky toner, la roche-posay triple repair, and byoma hydrating oil) and I am always sure to match primer and foundation (water vs silicon based). I've tried numerous foundations and primers, from high end to drug store, and they all do this. I do also exfoliate once a week. My shade match is off here, too, but I'm mostly concerned with fixing this weird texture right now. I have tried various application methods and they all end up looking like this; in these pictures, I used a brush for initial application and a damp beauty blender to try to buff everything out afterward. Hi all! First time poster in this sub. My eyes are my favorite part of my makeup look, and wings are my go-to. I need to find my holy-grail liquid liner! I’ve been bouncing around a lot trying to find my favorite over the years. The closest I’ve come is the L’Oréal Flash Cat Eye. My only issue is that after a couple of weeks of use, the liquid can randomly start dripping heavily out of the tip. I also like the Maybelline Hyper Easy, but on the flip side of the L’Oréal Flash that becomes too watery, I find this one quickly dries out. I like pens best, but I’m willing to try the traditional style if it’s loved enough. I just definitely don’t want to do felt-tip, or anything too thick. Black and waterproof is what I need. Drugstore is preferred, but I’m willing to try the lower end of the prestige brands (Urban Decay, Too Faced, KVD, etc) if it’s really good! Help?? Here’s a picture of my everyday look. Hello! My wife's birthday is coming up and I'm trying to figure out the best foundation brush for her. She uses liquid foundation. I was going to go with Sephora's Pro Foundation Brush #64, but the I watched Sephora's "Brush Guide" video and it said #64 was better for powdered foundation, and #70 would be best for liquid. Hi! Y'all were super sweet and super encouraging when I posted last, and it makes me so happy to see y'all treat us trans girls so nicely! Before delving into the main point, I want to talk about eyebrows. Last time, there was a lot of discussion about my eyebrows (and i wasn't at all expecting it): a lot of folks said they should get trimmed or waxed, a lot said to keep them. So, fully honest here, I love my natural eyebrows (maybe more than the new ones)! But I did choose to get them threaded~ the reason, ultimately, is a personal reason: I had never done it before, and they grow back; so, it would be fun to try something new! Hopefully I'll keep posting over the next several months, and y'all will see me with a few different versions of brows, some more trimmed, some less; some bold, some feathery. In the end, I'll probably end up near a cleaned up version of where I started, but let's enjoy the ride! On to the makeup! So, I tried to work with the advice I received, and get a lighter foundation. I sort of got better at that. I also got a new foundation. More on that later. I also tried a peach lipstick, and worked with more browns and mauves. I also tried some more peach blush, too. And shaving. Look, there's lots of advice, and im still working on following some of it, line experimenting with blues and mauves in eyeshadow. But I think y'all helped me improve my natural looks which is such a huge help at work. And also, progress is not linear. I got a new foundation and a foundation match. Now a liquid foundation. Those are the last few pictures. And the first couple days were... awkward. I had to relearn a lot of things. I had to unlearn some others. One morning, I just sat still and experimented with different ratios if mixing the new liquid foundation with color correction and concealer. But at the end, with the last picture in makeup, I think I ended up with one of my best looks! And finally got a darker blush to work, too. I also included a picture of just my face, without makeup, so y'all know what I'm working with. I have a case of persistent rosacea. I'm still experimenting with what sort of skincare makes my skin happier. As for my products, I'm working with a skin tint (previously foundation balm), putty concealer, powder bronzer, powder blush (pink, peach with sparkles, and a brownish red), lip liners, lip gloss and stick and tint and plumpers, brown and black eyeliner, brown and black mascara, brown brow pencil, brown tinted brow gel, orange and green color corrector, concealer, a setting spray + sunscreeb, and highlighter. Application is a set of brushes, a sponge, and 10 phalanges. Anywho, I'll keep learning, and I'd love to hear what I can do better! Shade & Oxidation: LN07 is labeled “neutral” but still leans warm. Slight oxidation but manageable. Reference shade: Issy foundation in NL2.5 | Issy active skin stick in Fawn | Maybelline 120 Texture & Application: Thick and fast-setting. You need to move quickly or it clings. Tried applying with hands, brush, and sponge. Best method: apply with a brush for coverage, then use a sponge to smooth it out. Still feels tacky after the foundation sets on it’s own so you still need to set it. Coverage: Medium to full. It’s buildable, but you’ll know something’s there. Doesn’t blur texture. Wear Test: Wore it for 9–10 hours, no blotting. From afar? Passable. Up close? Cakey. Separated on nose, chin, and forehead. Completely rubbed off where my glasses/nose pad sits and showed a scratch mark on my nose. Majority of the foundation is still there so kudos to them, it really is a long wearing foundation. Tried Application Methods: ⁠Just moisturizer ⁠Full prep (toner, serum, primer, etc.) ⁠Mixed with serum to make it more hydrating The serum trick helped the finish a bit, but still far from “skin-like.” No method fully fixed the cakey-ness for me. Final Verdict: Not for dry, textured skin. Not for everyday use. Requires good prep and precise application to look decent. If you have oily skin and patience, maybe it can work for you. Not sure if the camera captures it but it does look worse up close. Pls note I know that make up isn’t supposed to act like a filter but I’ve tried other foundations that gave me better results tbh so sad this didn’t work for me but I’m still willing to give it another chance. This was a few years back, but I occasionally think about it. I was invited to a childhood friend's wedding as a bridesmaid. The bride paid for the wedding party's hair and makeup. I usually do all my own and have never had issues with it, but I was excited because I've never had someone else do my makeup before. On the big day, I let the MUA know I have very dry skin and that I did my own skin prep, but understand if she has different products she prefers. I requested that she uses a liquid blush I brought, which she accepted. Then the following happened: Skin prep: she wiped down my entire face with an alcohol prep pad. Claimed it was necessary before doing anything else. Did not apply moisturizer or anything else after. Why? "It's hot and humid outside." Foundation: pulled out a matte foundation in 2 shades, neither of which matched me. When I mentioned again that I have dry skin, and asked if she had anything else, she said she only uses matte foundation for weddings because other foundations won't last. I assumed she would be mixing the 2 colors to match my shade. She didn't. She just picked one and went with it. It didn't help that it wasn't blended down my neck. The paddle brush she used was streaky. Cheek products: she handed my liquid blush back to me and grabbed a powder blush from her bag. The reason? "I don't know how to use this." Eyeshadow/liner: stated she only uses eyeshadow for liner to achieve a soft look. This isn't new to me, but felt kinda weird if she SO concerned about longevity, but what do I know. But then she only put eyeliner on one of my eyes. False Eyelashes: no measuring or trimming, which is fine since I often use them like that. She first asked me to look down but I could see she was really struggling, so I offered to do it. She refused and told me to just close my eyes. She glued one of my eyes partially shut. The other one was lifting at the corners. Lips: just lip liner on the lip line and slightly blended in. Okay, I can see the idea. But the shade was not a great match and she missed a stroke while blending so she just drew a pink line on my chin. The MUA asked me if I liked the look. I just sat there in silence for a few seconds because I didn't know what to say, especially because I didn't want to hurt the bride's feelings. Eventually I just asked to clean the lipliner off my chin. She just kind of smudged it with her finger and said she would touch up my makeup if she had time left after everyone else. I went back to the hotel room I was sharing with my mom, and she was shocked when she saw my face. I had never been more grateful for a 6am appointment, because I ended up with plenty of time wash my face, do my skincare, and redo my entire face. I did a more natural look than what I was usually doing at the time so I could still match the general vibe of the bride. The MUA saw me later and literally did a double take. She looked annoyed, but whatever. The bride's mom asked me to bring all my makeup stuff to the venue so I could do touch ups, because the MUA left as soon as the bride (who went last) was ready. Unfortunately, it wasn't just me that the MUA botched. The maid of honor's eyeshadow was smudging down and one of her false lashes lifted halfway before the ceremony even started. I felt bad that the bride had paid for these services because I felt she got ripped off, but also because my actions were essentially just non verbally shitting on the MUA she chose. The MUA though? Whoever suggested this, thank you! Finally, found a product that keeps me matte all day. Hindi na shiny, no need for blotting paper, and still looks fresh at the end of the day (lalo na sa mga photos, I no longer look like hulas). Laneige Neo Essential Blurring Powder. For context, I get oily 1-2 hours after applying my makeup. I have tried adding a mattifying primer to my routine pero no change pa rin. I have also tried the loose setting powder from Mac pero wala pa rin. Tried not using a moisturizer (just my sunscreen) pero shiny pa rin. Tried switching my sunscreen to the gold Anessa (which they sais is recommended for oily skin) pero shiny pa rin. Eto lang pala ang makakapagmatte sa face ko. I use it to set my liquid foundation. Since using this I no longer need to touch up my makeup. Hindi na rin ako gumagamit ng blotting paper. Don't be scared of the white powder, it won't affect your makeup. And totoong nakakablur sya. I use a brush to apply it, mas nacocontrol ko kasi yung amount ng powder compared pag puff. BONUS: I am on tretinoin and it does not emphasize my flaky skin. Pores on my nose are not emphasized too compared to other powders. TIP: Hold your breath when applying this.
