AITAH for telling a random stranger idc if they can tell my child’s gender
So I was in the grocery store with my 4 1/2 year-old son and 18 month old daughter. My son is very obviously a boy however, my daughter is still in that stage where she doesn’t have much hair so it’s kind of hard to tell. She was dressed in a blue tank top outfit with bows and pink stripes, and it said princess across the front of the shirt. Very obviously a girly outfit by societal standards. While in the checkout line, this lady, approximately mid 50s remarked on how cute my little boys were. I thanked her and then told her that the youngest was actually a little girl. The lady then told me that I should style her hair or put bows in her hair so that it’s obvious to other people that she’s a girl. I told her I really didn’t care what she or anybody else thought because nobody needs to know my child’s gender at the end of the day but me. She went on to tell me that I was rude and had a few other choice words for me, which I ignored until the point where she called me a bitch and then I told her to piss off. The cashier kind of giggled. The following day I was at work and one of my colleagues who also has a small child around my youngest age and I were talking about the whole encounter and she said that I was an AH. So AITAH? EDIT: for the people lacking reading comprehension I was not offended by the initial Misgendering of my child. I was offended when the lady snapped back rudely and told me that I needed to dress my child differently for complete strangers so that they can tell. Then she decided to call me a couple names and curse at me which is when I matched energies. It’s absolutely wild to me. How people who don’t pay someone’s mortgage, put food on their table, or contribute to any of their household resources think that they have the right to dictate how somebody lives and what they do. Especially when it doesn’t affect them at all EDIT PART DEUX: holy hell I didn’t expect this to blow up like this 🤣 wow. Thank you to those being kind. To those calling names, good luck being so bitter in life. For those thinking they have me in a ‘gotcha’ moment by saying “if you don’t care then why did you correct her“ it was purely reflexive speech and while I know small chat in public isn’t the most common thing in every country where I’m at in the southern United States it is. This interaction was akin to when you’re checking out at the grocery store and the cashier ask you ‘hi how’s your day going?’ and you respond ‘good and you’ even though neither of you truly gives a damn and the responses aren’t real it’s just being polite. That’s all this was reflexive conversation where I was polite until she was not. submitted by /u/ScaredVacation33 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

We really need to confront about how this fanbase talks about gender
For a fandom that spawned the 47 Citations, who absolutely gangs up on people who misgender Kris, who are extremely aware and supportive of UT/DR's diverse queer cast, we are really having some trouble when it comes to discussions about Ralsei's gender. I am not going to imply that one perspective is more or less correct than the other, because I really want this post to just be a wake-up call for us to have better ways to talk about this whole concept at large. It would be wrong to say Ralsei has, up to Chapter 5, not been a boy. He has certainly been the Prince from the Dark this entire time, gone by he/him in nearly all cases, and generally performed in a (albeit feminine) male identity. However, it would also be willfully ignorant to ignore that Ralsei's character is clearly dancing among some interesting ideas surrounding his gender and presentation. Some could argue his character has always been dancing around those ideas, considering his feminine nature from the start. Whether you like it or not, femboys, feminine men, etc. exist. They have always existed, and they will continue to exist. Similarly, trans women, pre-transition trans women, and "eggs" have also always existed and will exist forever. As a trans woman myself, I've seen my fair share of both of these identities. Regardless of what kind of discourse you engage in, both of these identities are held dearly and deeply by real, honest, good people who deserve respect. Nonbinary people exist, have always existed, and will always exist. This is something I know this fandom is very aware of, our main character is nonbinary! They go by they/them strictly, are refered to with gender-neutral language, and are neither a boy or a girl. These terms are absolute, and this fanbase has had no issue adapting to that. I think this is where we're all struggling with Ralsei. Regardless of how you refer to Ralsei or what you believe his identity to be, there's no question that the rules surrounding his identity are much less strict than Kris's. He's a boy, but called himself/is called "princess" sometimes. His pronouns are he/him, until that one moment when they were they/them. He wears feminine outfits, except for when he wears masculine ones. The specificities of Ralsei's identity are flux. They're not absolute and they're not easy to pinpoint. This is not strange. It's not a mistake, it's not an oversight, it's not poor writing. People like this exist, they have always existed, and they will continue to exist. People's identities do not always fit into neat little boxes the way Kris's does. Ralsei is clearly one of those people. And those people, like all people, deserve respect. We simply don't have enough information right now to make objective calls about what Ralsei is or will be, in finality. Maybe he's a trans woman who hasn't realized it yet. Maybe he's nonbinary. Maybe he's just a feminine boy. Maybe he's some fluid mix of everything. What's important is that we learn to recognize and respect what Ralsei is, without trying to "prove" what box he fits into. We need to be able to talk about this without starting fistfights in comment sections and attacking femboys and trans women and nonbinary people inadvertently. Everyone has an identity that's important to them, and so do these characters. Let's all try to respect each other more when it comes to discussions like this! We are all friends here and we can all be better together. EDIT: I would really, really enjoy if these comments didn't devolve into discussions about why you hate when people don't refer to Ralsei as she/her or why you hate that people can't accept Ralsei is a feminine man. Please, guys. This entire post is about how we need to stop trying to fit Ralsei into a box and we're already starting fights about how Ralsei fits in X or Y box. submitted by /u/larevacholerie to r/Deltarune [link] [comments]

The majority of people cannot handle gender nonconformity
You would think as time and generations pass society would be more progressive with self expression and not conforming to gender expectations. But it feels like we are regressing in a way. Now its like being a ”soft uwu girl/trad wife style” and “guy who looks homeless/wears the same 3 outfits” is being pushed again. Feminine men get laughed at or people assume they are gay or they are trans. it’s like the idea of a guy being feminine is a hard concept to grasp. For me as a trans man I grew up as a tomboy. I never cared about looking pretty or feminine and I wore ’boy’s clothes’. I liked boys but everyone thought I was a lesbian because of the way i dressed and behaved. Like no what you wear and how you look has nothing to do with your sexuality. Although I was called an egg and yeah turns out i was trans but my style had little to do with it. I just wish gender nonconformity was encouraged more and people wouldn’t be quick to make assumptions based off of style. submitted by /u/itz_vampy to r/hatethissmug [link] [comments]

Our beloved SG Conan at Worldwide Corporate Center has unexpectedly passed away. My Farewell Message for His Final Shift
Goodbye, SG Conan. Three years ago, a small orange boy found his way into Worldwide Corporate Center. None of us could have imagined that he would grow into one of the most beloved members of the community. Conan arrived carrying more than himself. He also carried on a legacy. He followed in the pawprints of Ming-ming, the security cat who came before him and was loved by so many. While no cat could ever replace Ming-ming, Conan found his own way to continue the tradition of bringing comfort, companionship, and joy to everyone who passed through Worldwide Corporate Center. Whether he was patrolling the halls wearing one of his cute outfits, greeting visitors, demanding treats, chasing toys or bugs, or simply (mostly) napping on duty, Conan had a way of making every day a little brighter. He was not a mascot, but a family to everyone in the building. To many, he was "SG Conan," our Secu-kitty Guard. To others, he was a source of comfort after a difficult day, a reason to smile during a busy shift, or the not-so-friendly orange face everyone looked forward to seeing, even if just online. Some of the hearts Conan leaves behind have four legs and paws of their own. Kobe, Boss Pedro, Ginger, Bobby, Niel, Purrito, and many others shared the same home, the same humans, and the same quiet moments that made the building feel alive. The security posts, walkways, and random resting places will carry his memory, and his absence will be felt not only by the people who loved him, but also by the furry friends who spent their days by his side. Thank you, Conan, for every greeting, every purr, every clawful swipe, every moment, and every memory. Thank you for carrying the torch after Ming-ming and for leaving pawprints that will remain in this building long after your final patrol. Rest easy now, little baby. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will remain in the hearts of everyone who loved you. Somewhere beyond the rainbow bridge, we like to imagine Ming-ming, Turmeric, Tisoy, Dodong, and many other who have come before him waiting at the end of the shift, ready to welcome you home. Run free, SG Conan. submitted by /u/denmax94 to r/catsofrph [link] [comments]

Boys make fun of little girls for playing with dolls while having a fear of dolls, Said little girls use that to their advantage to fight back
Heyo👋 This is my first time posting here, so kinda nervous. But I posted this story on one of my socials last night, as the memory had come back to me due to the fact I've started to play with my dolls again recently, and my sister suggested that I post this here too since it seemed to fit, and is quite a funny memory that people here might enjoy. Hope that it's all properly set for this sub. Also, quick note, being that english is not my first language, there are some things that may not sound too right, and some things I just struggled to translate in this. So, for a quick introduction: I'm a twin who is somewhat of a doll collector alongside my sister. In the sense of, we like dolls, any dolls that we think look pretty and/or cute, we buy them when we have the money or gift it to each other. Thing is, we've been doll crazy since very little. Which, I guess is normal for a kid, but I just say this to inform yall that, we had a lot of dolls as a kid, and would often use christmas or birthdays to ask our family to get us the latest doll, usually the more expensive ones we can't easily buy during the year. In fact, most of our dolls from our current collection comes from our childhood. One of such dolls is an American Girl doll. [Note: We are not from the US, we were born and raised in Brasil, these dolls (at least at the time) could not be sent internationally, BUT, we had an uncle that lived in the US and he bought one for each of us for Christmas since we really wanted them.] Me and my sister absolutely ADORED our AG dolls, and we took them everywhere we possibly could so we could: Brag about having expensive dolls from the US Show off the dolls to our friends and play together with them That included the church gatherings at friends houses called Células* *for those who don't know, bc I have no idea what the translation is, it's basically small groups of people who gather at someone's house once or twice a week for prayers and the teaching of the lord, usually based off of their church. [Edit: Someone suggested that the closes equivilent would be Bible Study] Anyhow, during those gatherings, the kids would be separated from the adults and taken by the group's teacher for lessons, and in this particular friend's house, an apartment complex, we'd go to the uuh, ground floor area with the pool, play area and event rooms, and we'd stay in one of these event rooms for the lessons since it had a projector and sofas. After the lessons are done, we'd be free to go around and play until our parents were done and would come down with snacks for us to eat. And important: these gatherings took place after school, at night, so there weren't many people outside in the ground floor during those hours, it was just our group, with occasionally one or two other people down there. This particular day when we brought our dolls, this group of slightly older boys had joined the group, and just to keep in mind, the usual kids that attended these were around 8-11, me and my sister in particular I think were like 10-11 at the time, while these boys were around I think 12-14? Can't fully remember but they were slightly older than us. We had been carrying our dolls around the whole day, but, of course, the boys didn't say anything in front of the adults and we didn't think much of it. It wasn't the first time we brought our dolls either, most people who came to this gathering were "regulars" and were already familiar with us and our dolls, even indulged us when we called the dolls our daughters, while the kids our age (who at this point were already our friends) were all excited to be able to play with such an expensive doll. Once the lessons were over and we all got up to leave the event room to play, me and my sister took our dolls with us to play with our friends. But it was during this play time, when the teacher wasn't around to see, that the older boys would start to pick on me and my sister for having dolls and how childish it was (yeah, we were literally the age for that??) And how stupid it was for us to care so much about a doll like it was real (the whole thing about us calling them "our daughters" and the adults indulging us on it. We knew they were dolls, but it was fun to pretend) and how creepy that was. We just ignored them and said we'd tattle if they kept going. They called it a bluff (it wasn't but we ended up just not needing to in the end anyways) and made fun of us, "what, gonna cry about it?" cuz they had been hoping we'd cry about it and making jokes that we "will cry about it bc we're stupid little kids." And our friends were trying to defend us, saying how mean they were being, but they didn't care, the younger kids being upset was exactly what they wanted. Unfortunately for those boys, me and my sister were constantly harassed by boys much older than them in our own apartment (cussing at us and calling us unsavory things. All things bullying besides the physical harm part), we had a tough skin for this type of thing, their bullying was really weak to us and we just looked annoyed. They stopped once they realized they weren't getting the reaction they were hoping for and went to do, whatever it is boys their age do. Though sometimes they would come and pick on us whenever our paths would cross, we just kept ignoring them and pushing our friends to do the same knowing they wanted a reaction out of us, but it was getting really annoying. After a while we decided to play hide and seek, so me and my sister went to put our dolls to sit very neatly at the sofa with the bags and books left behind at the event room, just so we didn't get them damaged during it (and carrying a doll around was getting tiresome), and left afterwards to play without much care. That is, until we heard one of the older boys scream at the top of his lungs and run out of the event room, the others soon following him. We, the younger kids, were very confused at that and asked what was wrong (by this point, the teacher had left to go grab the other adults and snacks), and they just pointed to the sofa with our dolls exclaiming the dolls were haunted. Tho we were facing the back of the sofa, so we had walk over to see our dolls, now no longer sitting neatly, and instead mine was tossed on the sofa, laying on her back with her hair messy, and my sister's doll fallen to the side, also kinda messy looking. We both picked them, pissed off that they messed with them without us knowing, and fixed their hairs and outfit, which got one of the boys to just go "what are you doing?!" very scared and shocked at the fact we even decided to pick them up like it was nothing. My sister was PISSED at that, they clearly wanted to mess with our dolls and cause damage to them to screw with us, but only stopped due to beaing freaked out by something. She was ready to throw hands but we held her back, instead having her shout at them for touching our dolls without permission. Cuz like, if they had broken it, we would not have been able to fix them since they were US exclusive (and my sister's doll in particular was the "Girl of the year" doll, VERY exclusive). But they didn't care about that "tantrum" and were just accusing us of having possessed dolls and that they should be burned or something. We, and the other kids, just looked confused and asked why they thought the dolls were haunted, that they probably just fell when they were messing around the room. Their reply? Cuz their eyes closed on their own.... Ok so, with anyone unfamiliar with AG dolls, these dolls close their eyes when you lean then backwards, that's bc there's a little weight system inside it for that. It's not even that uncommon, we have plenty of dolls like that in brasil too, advertised even, the boys at my school knew about it, not sure how they wouldn't know this🤦. We all just looked dumbfounded at them, and me and my sister tried to explain that's just something they do, with me walking closer to them with my doll to show it to them, but they kept backing away! ToT I kept going "look, it's normal, they have weights behind their eyes to make them close when you turn them backwards" and showed them how it worked, and that just freaked them out more, especially bc one (very small and barely visible) strand of hair from my doll got stuck on her eyelash making only one eye close while the other stayed open (which I guess is kinda creepy??) which freaked them out, continuing to calling them haunted or possessed before calling us weird for not finding it creepy, "it's like that doll form Anabelle!" (Of course it was bc of that damned horror movie🙄). We just kept repeating "it's just a doll, it's not creepy or scary. They were built to do this." But nope, wouldn't listen, instead they just called us creepy and walked fast out of there to do whatever else. Us and the other kids all looked so shocked at this, our close friend (who's family was hosting the gathering) coming in to comment how dumb they were. But this little stunt made an idea pop in my head, which is where the "Traumatize them back" part comes in. Cus guys, I was a devil child, I LOVED making the boys in school fear me (a whole other story), and my undiagnosed adhd ass also really loved the adrenaline of picking fights or causing trouble of anykind, and getting away with it, I was very familiar with this game of petty revange, and I haven't been able to pull such stunts in a while. They tried to traumatize little kids for just having fun with their dolls, make them cry for some power trip over being older than us and "better" than us. And I got a golden ticket of opportunity to use something against the boys for making fun of us and trying to make us cry. My friends and sister were just as delighted with the idea too. Basically, we got our dolls and would place them sitting in random areas we knew these boys would be playing around in. We snuck around so they didn't see us, put the dolls on a table, or hidden chair, and went back to pretend we were just playing like normal and wait until one of them saw the dolls, called on us about it, and we'd pretend that we didn't put them there, implying the dolls did it on their own. The first time one of the boys saw them, he called us out saying "it wasn't funny" but we all put our best act saying we had no idea what he was talking about, we were just playing hide and seek! He called our bluff, but we didn't relent, saying we had just put them back on the sofa and left to play, we had no idea how they got there, as well as saying "it's just a doll" like that made it less scary. Then we'd grab our dolls and put them back in the sofa and go back to playing. Cut to a a minute or so when they went back to playing around, we'd sneak back into the room, our friends keeping an eye out for the boys, making sure they didn't see us, put the dolls somewhere else and then leave to go back to playing and wait for one of them to call us out again. And we kept going, making the boys more and more convinced that the dolls were doing it themselves, each time they acted more scared than before as they no longer could tell if we were messing with them or not, (and just to add, me, my sister and our close friend did theather in our school, so our acting was good). And at some point we kept calling them the weird ones, making fun of them for being scared of a little girls toy. "It's not even that scary! They're so cute look!" I'd say as I shoved my doll to them and they'd back away with fear in their eyes. We'd, once again, put them back in the sofa while they watched and leave to continue playing, then wait for the boys to leave, go back, and do it again. And that kept going until we left! They were thoroughly convinced the dolls were possessed and controlling us younger kids, like a cult (their words, not mine). I think at some point they even tried calling an adult to say we were being mean, but not admitting it was cuz of the dolls? I can't fully remember. But what I can remember, somewhat, is when the adults came down with the snacks and gathered around the food area, the boys went there to hide and be protected by the parents, but I wasn't done with them, and decided on going the adults with my doll, my sister and the other kids following, and we'd go on with our cute little girls act shwoing off our dolls to the adults, and, yet again, the adults would indulge us bc of how cute it was for them, meanwhile the boys just looked scared out of their minds as they tried to finish their food and leave. And just to add salt to the wound, I'm pretty sure I walked up to one of them and went "isn't she cute? Want to hold her?" And his mom, I think, nudged him to play along and not be rude, oh that was priceless. And look, if you have a fear of dolls, I completely get that, especially during that time with all the horror stuff with dolls like Chucky or Annabelle, I would never try and do this to someone who has a phobia of dolls, I'll respect their boundaries for it. Unless, of course, you make fun of me for my dolls and disrespect my own boundries, I won't respect you back. Like, c'mon, why would you bully or make fun of someone for their dolls when you have a fear of them?? That's just stupid, they can easily fight back, they had it coming lol Anyways, hope yall enjoy this silly little memory of mine. A lot of the details are now kinda fuzzy since it's been so long, but I tried to add as much details as I could for it. submitted by /u/Adventurous-Time-324 to r/traumatizeThemBack [link] [comments]

spicy little detail of the boys’ outfits (crate vs R1)
MC’s lip stains on their R1 outfit! Crate versus R1. I thought it’s a nice touch. I think Infold did a much better job for this multi banner’s outfits compared to the beach banner. There’s more variety in their bottoms (e.g. Xavier with pants, Caleb’s wrap..). submitted by /u/minervasquill to r/LoveAndDeepspace [link] [comments]

Tomodachi News isn’t gonna like this one….
Me and my girlfriend have been joking about our Mii’s having babies in Tomodachi life, both me and her are ofc trans women. But then the unthinkable happened, a baby just magically spawned and it was both of ours. “Who tf gave birth to the kid?!” Both me and her questioned. The child was born a boy and named them Arthur. But then, as the left winged lesbian couple we are, raised our little baby boy by feeding him nothing but Yuri Cake that magically turns you gay and trans. Turns out our little boy was raised to be our little girl and now her name is Artemis. This game is absolutely the most beautiful, peak game I’ve ever played LMFAO submitted by /u/JustGampin to r/tomodachilife [link] [comments]

Younger me as a little boy?
I am a trans man, and although I am rather comfortable in my skin now, I'm curious what I would've looked like if I was born a little boy. Preferably no AI.. but I won't complain since it's free! I'd like just a more gender neutral outfit and shorter hair. Thank you!! submitted by /u/Automatic-Top-3501 to r/PhotoshopRequest [link] [comments]

It’s funny that she’s so into little boy fashion now that she’s having a girl. Where was all this energy when Anderson was an infant?
He lived in pajamas for the first year+ of his life, but now that we basically roasted her for how she’s going to dress this girl like a doll, now all of a sudden she cares about Anderson’s outfits. 🙄 submitted by /u/Sarahhh030 to r/alexandrarodriguez [link] [comments]

Worried my hair won't go with how I dress
Hi guys! So I (17f) want to cut my hair like this but a few of my friends have said it'll look stupid given the way that I dress which is fairly girly and apparently not casual enough for this, I added a collage which I think fits my usual vibe, I'm not what most would call alternative but I feel like the haircut is sort of? so I was hoping for some advice. I've wanted to do this for a while now but every single person ik has said not to except one so I'm worried I'm making the wrong choice. What dyt? pros: cute, would show off my piercings, lighter and less annoying on my head cons: friends hate it, I might look like a little boy, may not go with my outfits submitted by /u/Itchy_Lack_673 to r/altfashionadvice [link] [comments]

Sponsoring a family this holiday, but Mom didn't ask for anything. What should I get her?
This holiday season, I decided to sponsor a family through my children's school. I am doing 'Operation Santa' for a family of five; Mom, 9yo Boy, 6yo Girl, 3yo Girl, and 2yo Boy. I've already gotten them a tree with trimmings, all the big gifts, an outfit for each kid, and 90% of the stockings. I spent around $350 for each child. I still need to purchase the holiday meals and extra treats, and am arranging for non-physical extras ($500 gift card for groceries/gas/pharmacy, some fun money, and a photo session/prints with a wonderful family photographer locally here.) But, here's the rub: Mom didn't ask for anything! What is a physical gift I can get for Mom, ideally under $100? Anything the feels a little extra luxurious? She is a single mom, with four kids, two being special needs. I just want to give her the opportunity to unwrap something special too! Thanks for any suggestions! Edit: TL;DR - I am already giving Mom cold hard cash, a $500 card to our local co-op for groceries/gas/sundries/pharmacy, AND a photo session WITH prints. I also know NOTHING about Mom; not clothing sizes, hair type, or skin sensitivities. This is being done completely anonymously; I've never met the woman (to my knowledge, I don't know the last name(s) of the family chosen by the school faculty,) and frankly, I prefer it that way. I don't want my kids inadvertently treating any schoolmates differently because they know their financial/relationship/whatever situations at home. Please suggest anything else! Signed, A Canadian mom just trying to 'pay it forward.' Edit 2: I decided to get Mom a high quality, versatile leather purse. It will be filled with the gift certificate for the photo session, a couple smaller frames, lightly scented Spongelle body buffers, a gold-filled bangle, some luxury chocolates, and a matching leather wallet. Because I believe that wallets/purses shouldn't be gifted empty, it will be complete with the gift card for grocery/gas/pharmacy, random spending cash and a personal note. Thanks everyone, except those slinging attacks. Happy holidays, y'all! submitted by /u/AnaphylacticHippo to r/Gifts [link] [comments]

My bf/bd (32M) tells me (27F) I’m “too sensitive” about this humor
Okay so bf/bd and I have been together for around 6 years now and we have two young boys. He’s constantly making jokes about/towards me around our kids and I hate it. When I have voiced my feelings about this he’s just brushed it off as me being “too sensitive.” As an example, yesterday I came out of our room wearing the outfit in the photos. I just bought the shirt because I recently gained around 20 lbs due to a new medication. All my other clothes have been making me feel like a stuffed sausage so I was feeling pretty good in my new shirt. When I walked into the living room he turned to me and said, “that shirt is a little small.” I replied, “it’s just the style, it’s supposed to be a little short. It’s cropped.” He gave me a smarmy smile and said “…eh still a little small.” I then tried to explain that I had just bought the shirt and it was in a larger size but he cut me off and told me to “go deal with my insecurities.” And turned to our 3 yr old and said “women, right?” Am I really being too sensitive or does this seem as disrespectful as it feels to me? submitted by /u/RemarkableActuator16 to r/TwoHotTakes [link] [comments]

My SIL was neglecting a baby she was babysitting- I told his mom and now my life might be miserable for a while
I have a 3 yo girl and a 10 mo boy, my SIL has a 9 month old boy. My SIL called yesterday and asked if her, her boyfriend(not her son’s dad), her baby, and the baby she was babysitting (Baby Z)could come stop by the house just for a minute. I said oh sure we’d love some cousin time! I made some baby friendly snacks for the kids and then they showed up soon after. Now when they came in she sat her son, and baby Z in their car seats still. Now within 2 minutes she pulled her son out of his car seat. She left baby Z in his car seat. She had this baby sitting in his car seat for 40 minutes before I said hey guys this baby smells like he has a dirty diaper and he’s getting fussy. I was already pissed they were leaving this baby in his car seat and not letting him out to play with the other babies. For the next 20 minutes her and her boyfriend argued back and forth saying “I’m not changing this baby, you do it”. Just bickering about who’s gonna change this little baby’s diaper that they were both getting paid to watch!!! I was livid and so glad I’ve never let them keep my son before and knew they would neverrrr watch my son just from watching this interaction. I ended up pulling this boy from his car seat and changing his diaper and getting him a new outfit. Baby Z had blood blisters on his butt and I had to put him In the bath to get the cakes up poop off because I didn’t want to scrub it with wipes since I knew it had to be so sore. I knew the babies mother but haven’t really had any conversations with her. Just knew her from around town. I stepped outside and called her on Facebook to tell her the situation. I said I would keep him here with me if she felt more comfortable with it since SIL and her boyfriend were straight up neglecting this baby. His mom thanked me and said she’d really appreciate it and she would come to my house to pick him up and pay me what they were supposed to pay SIL. I walked back in and they were getting ready to leave. I told SIL I had just talked with the babies mom and she’d feel better if he was left with me and my son. I told her go ahead and call her to double check but her and her boyfriend were not leaving with the baby. SIL has trashed me to every family member she can think of. She’s made a Facebook post about how I thrive off drama and creating rumors about her. I’ve had my husbands other sister ride by my house yelling slurs and throwing eggs at my house last night. I’ve never ever been in a situation like this before where I was just witnessing straight up neglecting of a child. I feel I should have acted sooner and it’s making my stomach turn. I hate hate drama but our small town really thrives off of it. I’m not sure if I should just ignore these people? Or if I should stand up and tell people what really happened and out SIL to the town. Edit to add: the babies mother IS making a post today to out SIL- with receipts of the incident. I’m waiting for that and hoping coming from the babies mother it would actually be heard and believed. submitted by /u/Virtual-Leather-1241 to r/TwoHotTakes [link] [comments]

Dad’s aren’t babysitters
Background: I’m a father of 3 amazing kiddos. Two girls (8,4) and a boy(2). One of the perks of being self-employed is that I make my own hours and can take my two youngest to my office with me while my wife works. I also kept my oldest before she started school. This is what we’ve always done. I have my kids with me almost every single day. It’s what works best for us. The only problem that I have are days like today. Today is a library day where they have all sorts of activities for kids. My wife is normally off on Friday’s and usually takes the kids, but today she had a meeting so I took them. Sometimes other moms are the worst. I’m a rather large (6’2 245lb), bald, bearded man. I get comments like, “Wow! You fixed their hair!”, and “I guess you’re babysitting today!”. During one of the crafts, (literally glue sticks and paper, not complicated) another mom tried to take over while I was helping my daughter. I had to tell her multiple times that we didn’t need her help. Dads are not bumbling buffoons. Dads are not incapable. Dads fix little girls hair. Dads coordinate outfits. Dads change diapers. Dads can be loving, kind, gentle, while still being masculine. Dads are not babysitting. They are parents. Edit: Holy crap! My little rant blew up over dinner. This is by far my biggest post. Thank you for all your kindness. To clarify, what’s mildly infuriating is the standards that both moms and dads face. My wife has never been praised for fixing a simple ponytail, or taking kids to the library or going grocery shopping, it’s just expected of her. Likewise, dads shouldn’t be praised for doing the absolute bare minimum, and that’s what is frustrating. To all the moms and dads out there, keep on keeping on! May we raise the next generation to be full of love, kindness, and compassion. Shoutout to my boy Bandit P.S. Always check your spelling and grammar before posting. Redditors will always notice 😂 Edit #2: Wow! Thank you guys so much! Reading the comments gives me hope for the future! Another note, I want to emphasize the “mildness” in the infuriation. It’s one of those things that’s annoying in the moment, and you complain and immediately forget about it. submitted by /u/jking6765 to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

Reposting because everyone should have the chance to read this story. AITA for not giving my son's future husband wedding jewellery?
**I am NOT OP. Original post by u/Kind_Vehicle in r/AmItheAsshole*\* mood spoilers: Beautiful, heart-warming. --- AITA for not giving my son's future husband wedding jewellry? - Posted 2 years ago (all of the updates are in the one post) We are indian and in my culture it is tradition to give the bride a lot of gold sets of jewelry for her wedding. When each of my children were born, I bought a set for my both my daughters and a set for my son's future wife. I also have my own personal collection of wedding jewelry that I have divided for daughters and future daughter in law. When my son came out as gay, I redistributed my collection to give them mainly to my daughters, but I kept a few sets in case my son ever had a daughter. Now that my son is getting married, his future husband is wondering about his gifts. While it is tradition for parents to give their future son/daughter in law a gift, since he is a man I got him a kara (which is a sikh bracelet usually made of steel but I got him one made from solid gold, and my son has a matching one). He told my son that he doesn't want a religious gift for his wedding and that he found it tacky. That is fine if he doesn't like it. But I was going through my collection the other day to pull out pieces I want to coordinate for my outfits so that I can order my outfits in advance, and he saw me and wanted to see everything and give input. I also showed him the sets I have saved if they have a daughter. He is insisting that he gets these sets first and then he will give them to their daughter if they have one. In particular, there is a pair of emerald and diamond earrings I got from my own paternal grandmother that I would like to give my son's daughter (if they have one). I told him no because I set these aside for just a granddaughter and not a son. If he chooses to wear jewelry to his wedding I really don't mind, but I picked all these sets special for a daughter or daughter in law and I don't want to waste them on a boy. These sets are to be worn with sarees and lenghas. I don't want him to have them My future son in law is calling me homophobic for not sharing but I think it would be a waste to give them to a man to accessorize with a tuxedo, and I did not originally buy these for him in the first place. AITA? (Also even though he likes jewelry he does not wear womens clothes so I know he would never wear it with a lengha the way this jewelry should be worn) EDIT: Just to clarify, my son will be having a sikh wedding, and since he is religious my future son in law agreed beforehand that their household would be sikh and any future children would be sikh (son in law was raised catholic but isn't very religious now, but is spiritual. But being sikh means a lot to my son). Our religion (or at least the way we practice it) is very open minded, accepting, and loving so future son in law was on board. I got him a gold kara because that is the same gift I got for my other two son in laws. Also the kara does not have any religious text on it, if you aren't sikh you would assume its just a gold bracelet but anyone who is sikh would know it is SECOND EDIT (have been reading the comments and need to clear things up): Future SIL is catholic and caucasian, his family is not as well off financially so we will also be helping pay for the wedding (just for the sake of equality because we also contributed x amount for each daughter's wedding, so we will give x amount to son's wedding). If I had a lesbian daughter, her wife would be getting gold sets of jewelry. It also wasn't my idea for their wedding to be sikh/children to be sikh. My son had a very difficult time after he finished his undergrad and he took that time to reconnect with god, pray, meditate, and his connection to sikhism is what anchored him and that is why before getting married he had to know if his spouse would be okay with that. Also when we say children being raised sikh, that means if they are a girl their middle name would be kaur and if they are a boy their middle name would be singh. ALSO, my son is a doctor and my SIL is a HS teacher so I don't think money is an issue. THIRD EDIT: I've been reading all your comments and I really appreciate the discussion happening. But a lot of comments are hung up on the words "wasted on a boy". I understand why some people are offended, but I wanted to make sure you have the facts as well. https://www.shaadisaga.com/blog/bridal-jewellery-inspiration-from-sikh-brides If you go to this site there are a lot of photos of sikh brides. Most of these wedding jewelry sets come together (headpiece, earrings, nose ring, choker/necklace). The choker/necklaces would not fit him, he does not wear nose rings, he would not be able to wear the headpiece, and he could just wear the earrings. Also the gold bracelets I have from my personal collection would not fit him so to give them to him symbolically would be a waste. UPDATE: Hi Reddit! Thank you so much for your responses, good or bad. But some of the things you replied to my post did upset me. Many of you applauded me for supporting my son, but mostly because you are so deprived of support from your own families that you were impressed that I was doing anything at all. I didn't like the way this sat with me. I don't want to be doing the bare minimum. Since my son and future son are staying with us right now, I decided to discuss some of the points you all made and work this out. I showed him photos from my own wedding and we both agreed that the jewelry was made for female outfits and the female body. I also talked to him about the cultural significance of the kara, and what it means to me for him to have it, and he apologized and said he was out of line. I think there was some tension because as many of you said, the word "homophobic" should not be carelessly thrown around. When my son first came out over 15 years ago, he interpreted my shock as disapproval and it created a barrier in our relationship. We put in a lot of time and effort in therapy as a family to make sure our son felt supported. So when my future son in law called me homophobic it made everything feel very hostile to me. But he explained that he was taking things personally mainly because his own family is outwardly accepting, but there are still little things they do that make him feel unwelcome which causes him to feel hypersensitive about these issues. So we decided that a gay sikh wedding is NOT traditional, so the jewelry given should also NOT be traditional. We have decided to make a new tradition, and when everything is back to normal, we (me, my husband, son and future son) will be taking a trip to India so he can see my pind (hometown), and my husband's pind. And we will get a special set of gold bracelets that are more ornate than a kara for him and my son, and earrings made special just for him (heirlooms all start out as new to someone right?) **Reminder - I am not the original poster.*\* submitted by /u/almostselfrealised to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

I’m so freaking sick of little boy’s clothes
This is a pointless rant, but I’m so tired of baby clothes for little boys. No, I don’t want freaking trucks on my son’s outfit. I don’t want tractors on them. Can you just give me a classy print or something? It seems like there are so many cute girls clothes but the boys clothes are basically all the same. AITA for asking my aunt what part of the penis was required to operate a toy?
So I (26F) am expecting my first daughter with my husband (29M) in September. I grew up in a moderately religious household with pretty strictly defined gender roles. As in, since I was a girl, I had chores around the house while my younger brother did not have to do anything. I don't talk to my parents for a variety of reasons (going on year 5 now) so they do not know I am pregnant. Both my aunts and grandparents were very supportive of me leaving my household and as such have been my main family. Being 6 months pregnant now, people have started to give gifts and I am very grateful for them. We have decided that we don't want our daughter to be surrounded by pink everything with only girl things. So we have made a conscious effort to include traditionally 'boy' outfits and toys like dinosaurs and cars. We have told people that any gender items would be accepted and if it's getting too much 'pink' we have gone out to balance a bit (getting a green jacket or something). My younger aunt has taken great offense to this because 'boys are boys and girls are girls'. And she is a very verbal and loud person and has let us know several times her opinions. She has two boys. At my baby shower my older aunt gifted us a book called 'goodnight construction site' and a little stuffed truck. My younger aunt went on a tirade about how we are somehow making our daughter trans and not allowing her to be a girl. And she's a loud person so of course her saying this was more like a yell, and in front of my VERY liberal in-laws who are very supportive of our choice. Pregnancy hormones took over and I grabbed the toy, gave it to my younger aunt and asked her what part of the penis was needed to operate this toy truck. She yelled that's not what she meant and left. The rest of the baby shower went fine but it was a bit awkward after. Since then she has been blowing up Facebook where a bunch of people agree with her that I am making my daughter trans and have been telling me that I was an asshole. The rest of my think what we are doing is fine, but that I shouldn't have handled it that way. So was I an asshole? Edited to add: wow this really blew up, I was not anticipating this much response. To answer some questions: I do not care if she ends up loving pink and unicorns etc, we will get her them then. I just was trying to balance out the sheer amount of pink items we were getting from friends and family. Almost every single gift has been heavily pink or girl influenced. To the point where she would not be dressed in anything but pink if we did not go out and buy some more boy things. I also am generally not a person who argues. But I feel like a bit of an Ahole because I intentionally said this as deadpan serious as I could and with the intent to embarrass her in front of our family members present. My delivery and question did have the intended effect and she went quite red before leaving. This was also the first transphobic comment I've ever heard out of her mouth. While we all grew up quite conservative, my older aunt coming out 27 years ago really changed my family's perspective. My grandparents have changed from what they previously viewed and my aunt was always supportive of my other aunt. My younger aunt always wanted a girl, so I thought she was just trying to act out her fantasy girl with all her gifts and preferences. submitted by /u/Bromonium_ion to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
