grew out the fuckass haircut, lost body fat and, thus, face fat, “ate my skincare” (whole/single-ingredient foods), got lip filler, started regularly threading my eyebrows, just generally taking care of myself after always putting others first. i lowkey turned aesthetics into a special interest, and now i am reaping the benefits of an improved healthy lifestyle 🙂‍↕️ edit: thanks sm for the love 🥹 reddit is sm more welcoming than other social media apps. but anyway, editing this to address some common questions!! i got 1 syringe (1ml) of lip filler in february 2024. i have not at all topped it up since. i have had absolutely NO other work done; no other fillers, no surgeries, no botox, etc. i am not wearing makeup in either pic. i have my eyebrows threaded & eyelashes lifted in the after pic—i get those done once a month. this change alone helped me look put together even without makeup, so i highly recommend for my hair-abundant babes. single-ingredient/whole foods are minimally processed foods where the only “ingredient” is the thing itself (or a few ingredients). think sweet potatoes, eggs, chicken breast, steak, nuts/nut butters, avocado, olive oil, rice, sourdough, etc. this is not a “diet” to me anymore. once you eat primarily whole foods for a while, you completely overwrite your brain & gut chemistry to the point where you genuinely no longer crave highly processed stuff. my skincare routine besides eating clean is just cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. if i have a particularly bad hormonal breakout (usually around my cycle), i’ll use tretinoin to kill them over a couple days. submitted by /u/mamicholula to r/uglyduckling [link] [comments]

Finally managed to find a hulas proof makeup routine that works for me everyday!! Medyo noob pa rin ako sa makeup pero so far this routine has been really easy for me to do while still looking decent. Skin prep: Dr. O Hypochlorous Skin Rescue Spray - helps with my acne. Parang sanitizer for the face. Not hydrating though, but it’s really not meant to be. Sola Vitamin C Hydrating Mist - hydrates my skin well! Not sticky and tamang glow lang. I also noticed my makeup lasts longer when I use this for skin prep Round Lab Birch Sun Serum - very lightweight, doesn’t pill, and has a natural finish Makeup: Sola Cushion Ultra Matte - the star of my makeup routine!! this is different from the Foundation Primer. It’s a bit thicker because it has more coverage. It’s also a bit more matte but not the drying or flat kind of matte. Because of that, it lasts longer on my oily, pawisin skin. Issy Under Eye Brightening Fluid - okay siya kasi may halong color corrector na but might crease if you have dry undereyes Lovely Causemetics Loose Powder - goods naman. not bad, but not life changing. Will probably try something else once naubos. GRWM Baked Blush in Sola - my go to blush for everywhere and everything!! I’ve always admired people who get ready in ten minutes and still look put-together. Meanwhile, I was spending 25-30 minutes on a routine that didn’t even look natural in the end. So, a few months ago, I decided to minimize my everyday makeup routine and figure out what actually makes me look fresh without trying too hard. This wasn’t just about speed. It was about figuring out what steps matter and what steps I was doing out of habit. After a lot of trial and error, and a few disasters, here’s how I built a simple routine that finally feels like me. 1. I understand, I don’t need full foundation daily I used to apply foundation even on days when my skin didn’t need it. It was more of a habit primer, foundation, powder even though my skin looked heavy and product-y. I tested: • Skin tints • Tinted moisturizers • BB creams • Just concealer • No base at all What shocked me was how nice my face looked with just a skin tint. Not full coverage, not matte, not overly glowy just evened out. Best worked for me: • L’Oréal Skin Tint 2. The blush situation changed everything I always used powder blush, but it made my skin look flat. Once I switched to liquid blush, my face instantly looked healthier. I tested Milani Cheek Kiss Liquid. The sheer liquids looked the most natural because they melted into skin, not sit on top. 3. Brows didn’t need the whole soap-brow routine I used to fill, brush, set, clean up with concealer then add brow gel. That’s too much for a daily routine. A single swipe of a tinted brow gel solved the whole issue. It shapes, fills gaps, adds color. Now my Go-to is: • e.l.f Wow Brow 4. Mascara-less is more I discovered that the more mascara I apply, the less natural I look. One light coat is enough for daytime. Tubing mascaras worked best because it don’t smudge: • L’Oréal Double Extend 5. Lips- one easy product Instead of lip liner, lipstick and gloss, I switched to a tinted balm. A few that looked natural: • e.l.f Hydrating Core Lip Shine What didn’t work • Full coverage foundations for everyday • Powder blushes • Heavy brow filling • Setting sprays that dry out the skin What made the biggest difference • Switching to cream and liquid formulas • Applying less instead of more • Doing brows last What’s in your everyday minimal routine that makes the biggest difference? For the longest time, I thought cakey was just my default setting. No matter what foundation I used; matte, dewy, full‑coverage, skin tint, it always looked heavy up closely. I assumed it was my skin, not my technique. I started experimenting with my routine step by step and ended up discovering a combo that makes my base look so much more natural. It’s the first time I’ve ever gotten that “your skin looks amazing” compliment instead of “what foundation are you wearing,” so I figured I’d share in case it helps someone else. Hi, i’m Aaliyah. I’m honestly going thru a lot rn and I feel like i’ve lost myself a bit, I’m looking to get advice to make myself feel pretty again or more like myself. For a bit of background I’m currently homeless after being kicked out of an abusive home and I’m severely ill on palliative care. I’m staying with a friends parents who are taking care of me while we figure out if my condition can be helped or if we need to move me to hospice. I’ve been in the hospital a lot lately and I feel so insecure and gross. I had to shave off all my hair, and I just had surgery to get a port and a surgical feeding tube. I feel really ugly and want some advice on what makeup to save for to make myself look a bit better and more like other girls my age. I (F) share a bathroom with my college roommate (F). This is our second year living together, and we have become friends. Today I was planning to shower before going out when my roommate went into the bathroom to get ready. She typically spends about an hour in there doing hair and makeup. I asked if she could do her makeup in her room instead since I needed to shower. She refused, saying she had "already claimed the space" and her stuff was set up. After a brief argument where I pointed out she could do makeup anywhere while I can only shower in the bathroom, I gave up and said I wouldn’t shower, but said we should should discuss it for the future. She said if we were going to talk about that, we needed to talk about the times of day that I shower. She said that I'm "home all day" and should shower earlier before she’s likely to get home (I do take one less class, study at home, and work mornings, while she works evenings or studies at the library). She says she often comes home when I happen to be showering when I could’ve done it hours before, and then she has to wait 30 minutes on me. Then she said she thinks I intentionally time my bathroom use to inconvenience her. The reality is: she doesn’t have a consistent schedule, so I don’t actually know when she’s coming home. I shower late because I like to finish my work, walk my dog one last time before bed, and shower after. something I want to point out, when she showers before me, I regularly wait over an hour without complaint (45 minutes in shower + 20+ minutes for skincare/teeth) She claims I time my bathroom use deliberately, citing ONE time when I texted asking when she'd be home (it was late and I was genuinely curious since we're friends), she replied that she was on the way, which I had read as I was getting in the shower. In no way did I intend for that to happen, it just did, and I wasn’t going to jump out bc she was almost home. She's also upset that maybe 6 times in two years, I've knocked to quickly use the toilet during her hour-long bathroom sessions. This morning proved my point when I had sudden and VERY urgent diarrhea during her post-shower skincare routine. Instead of letting me in, she took an extra 5 minutes and accused me of "holding it" until she's in the bathroom. She's completely unwilling to budge and insists I need to change the time of day when I shower so that she’s not having to wait. When I mentioned that my less than 30 minute showers are much shorter to wait on than her hour-long routines she snapped and said "we're not putting time limits on the shower." How should I handle this? AITA for asking her to do her makeup elsewhere since I can only shower in the bathroom, and then disagreeing with her shower schedule? Edit to add: - my average shower times are more like 15-20 minutes, and this is the time from when I walk in the bathroom, and walk back out, so including teeth brushing. 30 is a bit of an overestimation on days that I’m doing an ‘everything’ shower. The point was more to compare her shower length of time to mine which is much shorter. I live in an on campus upperclassmen dorm. Housing basically will not do room switches unless your life is being threatened, so I think I’m out of luck there. She isn’t living with us next year though, so I’ll just have to try to see if we can resolve everything so we can get through the year. I’m not too optimistic though.. some people are saying to get a makeup mirror for both of you to use. I have my own, which is large and has lights on it.
