Hi guys I have been wanting to subscribe to a meal plan for a month. This last month has been crazy and I want one less thing to worry about for a while. For those who have tried, which 1 is good? I want macro calculated and variety with taste. People seem to recommend kacal, fiit, delicate, calo a lot (searched around). Kcal seems to expensive. AITA for being upset that my friend planned a surprise brunch for my bday and then charged me for my meal later
Backstory: For my birthday, my two closest friends surprised me for a brunch. I was dropped off at the restaurant with no idea what was happening, and they were there waiting. We did a brunch special, they got me a few gifts. One friend paid the bill. Two weeks later, she charged me for the meal without saying anything beforehand. That’s what bothered me. To me, if something is a surprise, it’s generally assumed you’re not paying unless it’s communicated upfront. It wasn’t about the money and I don’t mind paying. It just felt weird to plan a surprise and then silently charge me after. I brought it up and said I was okay paying my share, but that it threw me off that she never mentioned it. She got defensive, said she “forgot” to pay for me, that I shouldn’t have expected it to be covered, and that I was being entitled and ungrateful since she already did a lot (gift, flowers, traveling to see me). She also said paying for a surprise is “subjective.” I genuinely was grateful and never was trying to ask for more. I just think if you plan a surprise, you either cover it or communicate expectations ahead of time. Charging someone for a surprise that you planned for them feels like giving a gift and then asking them to pay for it and it felt like she wanted the credit for doing something for me but wasn’t willing to actually fully take care of what she planned. To me that feels kinda off putting and not genuine. We talked it out but it feels like she doesn’t see my side at all and says some people she asked agree with her. Is there a perspective I’m not seeing or did she probably lie about what went down? I think her wanting me to pay in the first place was already weird, but what makes me even more confused is that when we talked it out it seemed like she doesn’t think she was wrong which is mind blowing to me. It seemed like she didn’t see where I was coming from when I feel like this is a worldwide unwritten rule/understanding when you plan a surprise for someone, regardless if it was for a birthday or something else. I just feel like it’s hard to believe she doesn’t see what I’m saying, I feel like she knew it was wrong and just didn’t want to spend the money and because I brought it up she has to talk her way out of it. Is there a perspective I am missing or am I valid for being upset about this? submitted by /u/Sea_Sandwich_5424 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

The Meal Plan Cheat Sheet
In response to multiple request, this is guide to making my yearly meal planning binder that I call my Meal Plan Cheat Sheet. I began this binder in an effort to answer the most frequently asked question in our household: “what’s for supper?” We found ourselves planning to eat out on nights that were busy and dreading making food after a hard day at work. It was neither healthy nor cost effective for a family of five. I needed a plan I could stick to that didn’t take long to make in the five minutes I could find in my week to organize my second job of personal chef for my family. I use an old three-ring binder and eight transparent sheet protectors as the base of my planner. These can be found in the garbage at any high school in June or an office supply store or dollar store year-round. Each sheet protector houses a single day’s possibilities and instructions printed on standard sized pieces of paper, as well as a title page at the front, to total eight. Each day’s cover page includes the day’s name, theme, and 15 meals listed with an empty circle to indicate which meal is chosen each week, and extra blank spots to add new favourites or one-off planned deviations. Behind the cover page is the ingredient list for each recipe on one sheet in sections for each meal. Behind the ingredient list, if applicable, is the recipe instructions for unfamiliar meals. Every week, I grab the binder and flip through each page, erasing the check from the week before and marking this week’s meal choice with a dry erase marker. When I complete the week, I go back through the binder and remove the ingredient list if I am unsure what items I will need to purchase. I either write a shopping list or enter the items into my grocery app to schedule a pick-up. My plan was created in Word and printed at home, but you could use another application, visit your local library to print your sheets, or hand write it all. Just like everything else in this guide, it is completely customizable. This is how to customize your yearly meal planner: Choose the daily themes You need seven days of themes that will define your week. Create a theme for each day that matches your energy for each day of the week. When choosing a theme, ensure what is required for your practical and emotional needs are met to mitigate obstacles. Sometimes you may require a day with meals that are easy to cook, easy to clean up, can be taken on the go to get things done. Some days may vary based on dietary or budget needs. Other days may be a celebration for getting through the week or a hard day and benefit from a planned comfort or fun meal. If your chosen themes do not fit within your week due to needs, consider swapping that theme for another that works with your schedule. If you don’t plan around your life, you the plan is less effective. Write the day and theme at the top of a page for each day. Below are some themes that can be used to create your meal list. I have added an asterisk next to the ones our family currently uses. Theme Name Description / Purpose Meatless Meals* Vegetarian or plant-based meals Mexican Night / Taco Night Tacos, bowls, fajitas, enchiladas Italian Night Pasta, lasagna, meatballs, risotto Quick & Easy / Busy Night 20-minute meals, minimal prep One-Pot / One-Pan Night* Easy cooking with minimal cleanup Slow Cooker / Crockpot Night* Set-it-and-forget-it meals Fun Night* Pizza, burgers, interactive meals Throwback / Retro Night* Childhood favorites and classics Soup & Sandwich Night Light, comforting, flexible meals Breakfast for Dinner Eggs, pancakes, breakfast bowls International Night* Rotating world cuisines Grill Night BBQ, kebabs, grilled vegetables Freezer / Pantry Night Use what you already have Leftovers / Clean-Out Night Reduce food waste Salad & Bowl Night Composed salads and grain bowls Kid-Friendly Night Familiar, low-stress meals Comfort Food Night* Cozy, hearty meals Light / Reset Night Simple, easy-to-digest meals Build-Your-Own Night Customizable meal stations Takeout-Style at Home Homemade restaurant-style meals Choose meal options For each day, you want 15 meal options and a blank for those planned deviations. List all the meals on each day's sheet on a separate line next to an empty box or circle so you can note your choice each week. Some themes may have 15 meals that come to your mind, like comfort foods, whereas other themes can be something you want to search on the internet or old cookbooks to find all your meals. Utilize online lists like “50 One-Pot Meals” or videos for “Crocktober” to fill out themes but make sure you save the reference for the next steps. Some meals might fit in multiple themes. It is up to you if you would like to repeat meals. Without repeats, this book will yield 105 different meals. Favourites may be repeated more often, and changes can occur based on holidays and nights out, making a decent selection to last the full year. In the comments are my daily meals that fit in my themes. Note that not everything is homemade or traditional but I try to be generally healthy for a young family. There are duplicates or parts of some meals not spelled out. I’m not a dietician – just a mom doing this while I wait for snow plows to clear my street. If there is interest in more lists, I have back-up lists for more themes. Make all your helper sheets For each day, take a separate piece of paper divided into eight sections. List the ingredients and amount needed for each meal on your plan. This is optional for your household standards. For those that require detailed recipe instructions, write or type those out on a sheet of paper divided into eight sections. Slide these helper sheets behind the cover sheet for each day. If there is interest, I can provide my recipes when I have more time. Some may be from cookbooks or websites so I want to ensure I'm not breaking any rules/laws. submitted by /u/Jennacyde153 to r/simpleliving [link] [comments]

How the HELL do you meal plan week after week?
I’m a full time working wife and mom of 2 who is also an admittedly picky eater. I am absolutely struggling coming up with easy weeknight meals. Luckily both I and my children love the spaghetti I throw together (it’s literally ground beef, a chopped onion, onion and garlic powder, and ragu THE OLD WORLD STYLE - the other ones taste weird 🤣) with cheese garlic Texas toast, but there’s only so many times I can make that before I feel like a lazy piece of shit. I have a rotation of meals, but would like to add to them however somehow always find a reason why an ingredient will make a recipe I find gross. Packing my lunch is an even bigger task. Stuff that needs to reheat needs to not taste gross reheated. How do you find the time to find recipes, meal plan, make a grocery list, and cook and clean up on top of everything else? I’m struggling in many aspects right now, but this is major. I can feel the judgement from my husband everytime I DoorDash to my office. 😭 submitted by /u/melalovelady to r/adhdwomen [link] [comments]

I’ve been using ChatGPT every day to plan my meals and it’s actually changed my life
Not even exaggerating — I used to waste so much time staring into my fridge or scrolling through recipes. Now I just use both ChatGPT and Cal AI for all dietary purposes. I give it, my dietary goals, and how much effort I’m willing to put in, and it gives me a solid weekly meal plan in seconds. I’m 6’3”, 165 pounds, and I’ve dropped 10 pounds over the past 6 months doing this consistently. I’ve been eating cleaner, saving money, and I actually enjoy cooking now. It’s like having a personal nutritionist without the cost. Anyone else using AI for stuff like this? Would love to hear prompt ideas or other tools worth trying. submitted by /u/repjerker to r/ChatGPT [link] [comments]

What is the point of buying a more expensive meal plan versus just using the money yourself?

AIO Husband made plans with MIL on our anniversary after saying she was too busy to babysit that day for a meal
My husband and I have been married over 10 years and rarely ever spend time together outside of parenting our 3 kids. Maybe 5 dates in the past 10 years, if that. My parents are estranged, his dad works a ton, and his mom prefers not to babysit much for whatever reason. She doesn’t work but she keeps busy with crafting and socializing and appointments. We have celebrated very few anniversaries, and this year I asked if he could ask MIL to babysit so we could have a lunch or dinner date. I WFH and he cares for our youngest, who will be starting preK in the Fall. So it could have been a lunch date while she watched our 3yo or the unlikely dinner date where she would watch all 3 kids. My husband explained she would be busy all week packing and planning for an upcoming trip (4 hour drive away). Disappointing but no surprise. I didn’t block my work calendar. Fast forward to our anniversary morning and he lets me know he and our youngest have made plans to go pick strawberries with his mom at lunch. And would I like to go. My calendar was full of meetings because I thought there had been no chance for us to grab lunch. Also thought his mom was way too busy to spend time with family that day, which is why he refused to ask her to take an hour of time for us to share a rare meal just the two of us. I cried and yelled at him for planning a date with his mom instead of his wife on our anniversary. And then I had to juggle work and parenting while he showered and got ready. I was furious and it honestly ruined my day. Today he maintains he did nothing wrong and that I “acted insane” just because he wanted to spend time with his mom (whom he saw just the night before our anniversary btw). What do you think? Am I overreacting or is it hurtful to not have wanted to make plans with me, not been worth asking a favor, saying he wouldn’t ask because she is much too busy… and then making plans with her on her busy day? Honestly it isn’t lost on me that this is just a day in a loveless marriage. We both love our kids so much, and it’s been so important to me for our kids to have parents who love and support them, are present for them, and who stay together. I love the dad he is, but it’s been the loneliest romantic relationship I have ever had. For over a decade. Sometimes I mourn the feeling of being cherished. Of someone enjoying my company or cheering me on. Of not being frustrated and annoyed every time I speak. So a lot of that spewed out after I heard about the strawberries. And yeah maybe I way overreacted, but I just want to feel like a person who matters to my partner whom I have to interact with and compromise with every single day. submitted by /u/tootmuffinfluff to r/AmIOverreacting [link] [comments]

FINALLY Found a Meal Plan that Works! (32F, 5'2")
I have been trying to lose weight for years without success, but I've FINALLY found a meal plan and routine that works! I thought I would share if there is anyone out there who is looking for a starting point. SW: 152, CW: 144, GW: 135. Average loss of about 1/2lb per week. I'm not starving all the time and I can get through workouts without issues. Note: There is NO calorie or macro counting included in this plan. I intentionally avoid it. This is just what I found to work within the bounds of our shopping options (Costco and Publix) and general tastes. Meal Plan: Liquids: Water only. Allowed 1 mocha latte with oat milk on Sundays. Alcohol about 1-2x/mo and no more than 2 glasses of wine within that sitting. Breakfast: 1/2 cup oats mixed with boiling water, 1tbsp Nestle Semi Sweet chocolate chips, and a dash of salt Lunch: 1/6 cup cooked Della's Brown Basmati rice, 1/3 package of a Kevin's meal, 1tbsp chocolate chips for dessert Afternoon Snack: 1-2 tbsp JIF creamy peanut butter Dinner: 1/3 portion of a HelloFresh meal for 2 people. It's usually a few ounces of meat (pork, ground beef, chicken), about 1/2 cup of roasted veggies (broccoli, carrots, or Brussel sprouts tossed in oil, salt, and pepper), and about 1/2 cup of carb (potatoes), and 1-2 tbsp of whatever sauce goes with the meal. 1tbsp chocolate chips for dessert. Cheats: Occasionally allow an extra tbsp of chocolate chips because they're good and I'm allowed to be nice to myself. We don't usually buy snacks, but when we do we get pretzel crisps, thin sweet potato chips, or Chickpea Veggie Crisps Pastry or egg sandwich for breakfast from local cafe on the weekend. Usually something filling enough to make me want to eat a later lunch than normal and a smaller dinner. No more than 2 restaurant meals within a week - I try to stay within 650 or fewer calories if possible. If it's not, then I pick something still fairly low and don't worry about it. Exercise Plan: Strength training 2-3x/wk on weekday mornings only and before eating breakfast I don't think it matters if I'm lifting weights or doing cardo. As long as it's an hour-long session and I'm consistent with attending. We're just trying to move our body and be healthy over here. Not trying to win competitions or look like an Instagram model. Patterns: My weight is lowest on Mondays. This is because I retain water weight as I exercise M-F and then I lose it when I take a break over the weekend. submitted by /u/RoadsidePoppy to r/PetiteFitness [link] [comments]

I used my meal plan to feed over 120 less fortunate people
This happened my freshman year of college about 20 years ago. My university had just invested in a big new dining hall, and to help pay for their investment, required all new students to buy a 150 meal plan both semesters. This was a big financial burden being from a lower middle class family, but my parents pooled funds to help me out and make it happen. Shortly in to my first semester I found out from friends that the meals you didn't use didn't roll over. Since I lived off campus I knew I wouldn't be able to use them all. Heading into November I realized I would end up with 60-75 meals leftover, and I complained about this a lot to family and friends because it seemed like such a waste. In comes the plan. My freshman year of college was also my cousin's senior year and we hung out pretty often. He was the biggest trickster / prankster type you ever met. One night while we were drinking he says, "What if you brought a bunch of homeless people to use up your meals! How much would that piss off those self righteous bast****!" We laughed all night, but the more I thought about the idea, the more I really started to like it. We talked all weekend about it and hatched a plan. On Monday morning we went down to the local salvation army around the corner. I have grown to really despise this organization, but in the early 2000s in small town USA its what we had. We told the lady at the desk I would like to feed people in need with my meal plan. She was hesitant at first but said she was working with people that this would be a huge blessing to, especially during the holiday season. She helped me organize 2 days the following week where around 30 people would meet me to eat at the dining hall. I would wear a certain hat so they could find me, and we would go eat. The day finally arrived and all kinds of people were there. There were homeless people in tattered clothes. There were families with kids that seemed excited to eat out. There was even one family I will always remember that seemed embarrassed to take a handout, but I made an effort to talk to everybody and make them feel welcomed. At noon we headed into the dining hall. I walked up to the lady at the entrance and said, "These people are with me. They are my friends. I would like to swipe them in." She looked confused but reluctantly said okay. To say we got every reaction humanly possible would be an understatement. There were staff that were obviously annoyed with the influx of diners. There were students that were laughing. There were students that were giving me the silent clap. There were snobbish faculty members that seemed to be disgusted at the type of people coming into the dining hall. I didn't care at all. Eventually, a head staff member came up and said they knew what I was doing and they didn't like it. I said, "These are my friends eating with me. I paid for these meals. Am I doing anything wrong?" She was stumped. The next day the same situation happened with the same reactions. It seemed that I had caused quite a stir on campus, and it just so happened that the university president was eating there that day. She came up to me and said even though she would ask that I not tell me friends to do the same thing with their meals as the staff couldn't handle the influx of diners, she was proud that her students had the heart to do something for others like that. The following semester I did the exact same thing. I even used my meals sparingly so I could bring more people. The one memory that will always stick out in my head is the family with the little kids so excited to go to the pizza bar and soft serve ice cream machine giggling the whole time. To this day it's still one of the proudest moments of my life. Me and my friends and family still have a drink and chuckle over the story and the snoody, angry reactions I got. submitted by /u/RotomRoomba to r/MaliciousCompliance [link] [comments]
