First time posting here, but I've been lurking for a couple months. This week is week 10 of my journey to lose 100 lbs in 2026 and I figured I might as well post some of my meals to help document the process. I work compressed weeks of four, 12-hour days, so days that I work I don't have the time or energy to cook. Meal prep has helped a ton in achieving my goals so far so I wanted to share some of my recipes in hopes they help anyone else! Breakfast: keto toast with peanut butter and a banana that I will portion the morning of. 16g protein, 18g fat, 58g carbs, 27g fiber. Lunch: a bowl with Mexican brown rice, black beans, roasted zucchini, poblano peppers, onions, and corn, chipotle chicken, and a cottage cheese based cilantro-lime sauce. 72g protein, 16g fat, 133g carbs, 44g fiber. Dinner: teriyaki glazed tempeh with dashi braised cabbage, white rice, furikake, and some avocado that I'll portion out the morning of. 34g protein, 23g fat, 91g carbs, 21g fiber. Total macros for each day: 123g protein, 57g fat, 282g carbs, 92g fiber. I vary what I eat a good bit each week, but I try to keep my macros pretty consistent and get as much fiber as I can. I live with 3 international students, aka they go home for the holidays for about a month in December. I was on a mini trip for a couple days before they left, so it meant I returned to the apartment after they had already left on vacation. Guess what happens when I get home? I open the fridge and realize nobody cleaned out any of their food. Like literal meals are still in there. So guess who has to deal with it???? That’s right! Me! Nobody took out the garbage, compost or recycling. Their DISHES are still in the sink. Dirty pans still on the stovetop. Nobody is coming home for a month, meaning they expect me to deal with it. Ok now let’s fast forward. Fridge is cleaned out, freezer is re-organized, we’re ready to start the year on a good note. I have 3 roomates, meaning we each get about 1/4 of the freezer. One of my roomates doesn’t use it at all. I only use it for my meal preps, meaning I take up about 1/4 of the freezer with prepped containers of food. But genuinely, it is only 1/4 IF that. GUESS. WHAT. THEY. DO. WHEN. THEY. GET. BACK. FROM. HOLIDAYS. they go shopping, right? For food. And guess what?? Im gone for the day at my boyfriends place… I get a text saying “hey I took a couple of your meals out of the freezer to fit some stuff in there btw” THEY TOOK MY FOOD OUT OF THE FREEZER WITOUT EVEN ASKING ME???? And they took out THREE containers that’s like 2 weeks worth of food??? I ask them to not do that and put them back in the freezer, when I am then told that it’s actually already defrosted. So instead of dealing with their own 3/4 of the freezer or being normal and not buying billions of items to put in the freezer in the first place, they take my food out without even asking me, and now I have to waste at least an entire containers worth of meals???? And the worst part??? I get home. Go see the damage. The reason they needed extra space? They bought frozen vegetables, berries, bananas, strawberries and awhile tub of ice cream. Why would you do that when the freezer is already so full??? Who are these people????? Oh and the WORST part … instead of having the decency of I guess removing different of my meal preps from the freezer… they removed the same meal. So all 3 containers is the same chicken soup 😭😭 I’m serious tho I took up at most 1/4 of the freezer im not a freezer hogged. This is just. Insane. I can’t wait for my lease to end. I (17m) have an older brother "James" (28m) who's married to "Erica" and has three kids with another on the way. Me and James don't have a relationship. I feel like he resents me for being born or like I stole our parents from him or something because he was always a huge jerk to me. I'm talking putting stuff where I couldn't reach them when I was little, locking me in my room because he could and dropping me off at the neighbors house when he agreed to babysit and was getting paid for it me so our parents could go out. When James met Erica she was a jerk to me too. She made fun of the walk I talk because of my stutter and she ignored me unless our parents were there. For a while my parents and James had a bad relationship because of how he (and Erica later) treated me. But they made up and became close again and stayed close even when he didn't invite me to his wedding. He/they ignore my birthdays, they ignore me at Christmas, they never invite me to parties they throw and it's not an age thing because kids younger than me get invited. It's all a me thing. I asked James why he hates me and he ignored me and when I tried to push him to answer he laughed in my face and told me to get away from him. James and Erica have their three kids, who I don't know btw, and they've another on the way. Erica's had a rough pregnancy and my parents help keep their house clean and stuff on weekends and they have sent them money. But my parents don't really cook much. And I cook usually on Sundays and meal prep lunches for school and other stuff. I pay for the ingredients I use because I don't really like the stuff mom and dad sometimes buy and it's sometimes because we/they mostly eat takeout for dinner. James started asking for food so Erica and him didn't need to worry about that so much. My parents said I should do it since I meal prep already and James said it would be perfect. My parents said to use the stuff they buy and meal prep for James' family but I told them I won't put my time into making food for people who treat me like shit. A month after my OG post I stopped the kids from eating cherry’s meals, it was childish to drag my kids into that mess, I’m just grateful they are small enough and don’t understand what’s happening with their parents. I let her cook for him and take care of his laundry. There is no way I’m slaving over a man who hates me. My job is to take care of my kids not a grown adult who cannot respect his wife. I’m no longer cook, therapist, financial planner, assistant and maid. Just mother of his children and soon to be ex wife. Well to rip the bandaid off I cheated back and it didn’t go as planned. The petty spirit in me did it in the worst way possible. I invited a gentleman over when I knew my husband would be coming in and he saw and heard everything. my 13 yr (almost 14) old mini wienie got a bad gi infection which led to gi issues. she is used to some pretty expensive food but nothing compared to this (she is also on expensive medicine). i am in college full time and working full time. somehow managing to find two hours in my busy week to make her food still. may she live for many more. I (M55) work construction and like to prep my lunches on Sunday so I don’t have to think about it during the week. It’s a routine that saves me time and money, and frankly, I look forward to my food when I’m on site. I’m not trying to lose weight nor am I on a specific diet. It’s solely for taste and convenience. Lately, my wife has started eating my lunches. I’ll go to grab one in the morning, and it’s just… gone. When I bring it up, she shrugs and says she was hungry and didn’t feel like cooking. Almost everytime she gives me $10 or so “to make up for it,” but it doesn’t help when I’m left scrambling before work or have to spend money I didn’t plan on. It happened just today again. Thursdays are especially busy this time of the year. I’ve told her this is frustrating and doesn’t take into account the effort I put into planning for my lunches. She thinks I’m overreacting and says it’s “just food” and that I’m being selfish for not wanting to share. I feel like I’m being taken advantage of, but maybe I’m missing something. AITA? Edit: to clarify. She works from home 2-3x per week. These are the days she takes on of my lunches. My husband has been cheating on me for years with different women due to this I’ve completely shut off from him. We don’t have a sexual relationship but we do an amazing job at being parents. Our kids love us and that’s all that matter in the grand scheme of things. I am not dating anyone,this isn’t an open relationship. Every time he cheats he acts more remorseful but Ive come to terms that I can’t save him. He’s seeing this woman Cherry and she’s a cook and baker. We were in a little tussle once but that’s is in the past. I’ve moved on. I don’t like her but I don’t hate her. Few weeks back I caught him eating in his car and realized it was from her, the packaging gave him away. She has been sending him goodie bags and now full meals. I told him going forward I’m no longer cooking for him and he needs to let her do everything including meals for the kids. I really put my foot down and did some petty things that I’m not proud of but it worked. I told him if she loves him she will do it but I’m done. Well I don’t know what he did to convince her but at least 3 times a week they get meals from Cherry. He brings the container and plates the food, the kids are happy because they think they are getting take out. I don’t partake. On the other days I cook for just the kids and myself. My husband on the other hand got mad and said I manipulated him into taking advantage of Cherry and kept asking me what do I get out of these mind games. I told my bestfriend about the whole ordeal and she’s upset with me saying that what if Cherry spikes the kids meal. I don’t think she would do it. We have a bubble with one other couple and She's had symptoms since Sunday. Her bf didn't make any preparations before he started showing symptoms last night (4 days later) and now they're both stuck in bed with no energy to prepare anything that would be good for their health. My partner started showing symptoms late last night as well so I've made enough food and got enough groceries that we won't have to prepare too much and I feel this was the right thing to do. Good luck out there ✌️ ETA: I'm getting a lot of responses who are misunderstanding my tip so I'm gonna try to clear this up. I'm suggesting getting groceries delivered to your door so that you don't go out and infect anyone, if you don't have this option please opt for curbside pickup and avoid going in to stores or anywhere you could infect people. And I'm suggesting doing it before you show symptoms because there is a very real possibility that once you start to exhibit symptoms then you will be stuck in bed or too exhausted to do anything. My friend had ample time to make any kind of preparations like food delivery or meal prep and he chose to do nothing and now wishes he also had done something, so I'm providing you his cautionary tale so that you don't find yourselves in this position. Edit 2: some commenters have added some great ideas for prep: Preparing some soup and freezing it, or some spaghetti sauce or chilli, order lots of fresh fruit and vegetables that are easy to prepare and eat, get some stuff to help manage symptoms like cough drops perhaps!
