Keep in mind I am writing this as a Mini owner myself— and a Clubman owner myself, no less. I currently have a first gen, but I plan on naturally progressing to a second gen if I can get my hands on one when I need a new ride, assuming that will be when there are absolutely no more used first gens near me. My question is why did you guys buy a regular Cooper or Countryman (or the dozens of other submodels with smaller cargo space) over a Clubman? I already made a post sometime ago about why the Clubman died in general, but now I’m asking people why they prefer their Mini over a Clubman. Since picking up my R55 this summer, I’ve absolutely become enamored by the Clubmen I’ve seen, mostly second gen (I don’t believe I’ve ever seen another R55 on the road since getting mine). Sure, they are more “regular car”-like compared to the R55s, but the barn doors still make it look slick and appealing, and they make the trunk more accessible as well. In addition to looking at the trunk space of these second gens, I am able to fit quite a bit in the trunk of my R55. I just find it kind of ironic that the Countryman has been favored as the SUV-like pick when the Clubman had a fair bit amount of space either. Based on what I’ve seen, it’s the base model Coopers that are lacking in trunk space. Hi guys, Hope your Mini ownership is going well. I’m curious about the reliability of Mini Coopers. I’m looking for a new car and really like the new Mini Cooper C. I’m planning to buy it brand new, as I tend to keep cars for a long time because I don’t like changing them often. I was just looking into the car’s maintenance, not the financing. My current car is six years old, bought brand new and currently has under 60,000 km on it, and I’m planning to trade it in. I usually keep my cars for at least seven to ten years, and I’m even thinking about extending the motorplan. Even the person at the Mini dealership was surprised and said, ‘You don’t really drive’. Does it depend on how you drive, etc? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are motorplans to extend expensive? Are brakes to replace expensive, etc? I have had my Kia Soul for years and I loved it honestly. I love a stupid weird little car. My kia is being a Kia and had a catastrophic engine failure because of course it did and now I need to get a new car. I am not rich. I need something affordable and reliable but I also want to like the car. All the cars im finding for sale are the same boring vibe and no fun at all and I hate them. The only cars im finding that I think are cute are Mini Coopers. Here is the deal. From what I've SEEN Mini Coopers are good/reliable for the most part. I dont know if that is true. I have also heard that repairing a Mini when something does go wrong is insanely expensive. Does anyone who works with cars have any advice or input on repairs and reliability? Would it be a good car pick? If not, what card could be a good pick?
