Split Screen Baby Monitor Suggestions???
Hi! We’re expecting baby #2 at the beginning of June. We currently have the infant optics baby monitor. We had the Nanit but it drove me crazy and I’m also trying to keep off the WiFi monitors. I don’t love that the infant optics scans between cameras, I’d prefer to be able to see both babies at the same time. What split screen baby monitors do you all like?

looking for best baby monitor for newborns, still undecided three weeks out and could use some honest opinions
we're about three weeks out from our due date and the monitor is one of the last things we haven't sorted. i've been going back and forth on this longer than i'd like to admit and every time i get close to a decision i find another thread that changes my thinking. i'm mostly trying to figure out what actually matters for the newborn stage specifically. video quality seems like a given but i keep seeing features around sleep tracking and breathing monitoring come up and i'm not sure how much of that is genuinely useful. the app side of things is important to us too since we want something we can both check easily without hovering over a dedicated screen all night. anyone here gone through this recently and landed on something they'd actually recommend for the early weeks? Update: thanks to the helpful comments from this group, i finally decided to go with Nanit to prep for our newborn. the ability to check in through the app is exactly what we were looking for to keep things simple for the early weeks. i feel much more prepared knowing we have a reliable setup ready. submitted by /u/Comfortable-Jello369 to r/NewDads [link] [comments]

for dads, whats best smart baby monitor for my brother whos freaking out
my bro and his wife is days away from their first baby and hes been lowkey panicking about every little thing. i wanted to get them something useful but not something dumb they wont use. thinking maybe a smart monitor since hes always on his phone anyway. i read some reviews and saw a lot of good stuff about the video quality but also people saying the subscription thing is annoying. hes not super techy so it needs to be simple to set up. what did you actually end up using everyday update: just wanted to say thanks for all the inputs after reading through everything i think im gonna go with the nanit for them since that babysitter story kinda freaked me out and my brother would want that peace of mind. you guys really helped a lot submitted by /u/GindiiDobrowolski to r/predaddit [link] [comments]

Monitor baby breathing while sleeping, gentle options for cosleepers?
first time dad prepping for our little one and curious about gentle, non invasive ways to monitor baby breathing while sleeping in our co sleeping setup. looking for options that will fit natural family closeness without anything disruptive. anyone found a good one for those early nights that gives extra peace of mind on breath patterns? wondering if it helps stay tuned into our baby while we all rest together. Update: tried the Nanit and it’s been a great fit, gives a simple visual on breathing without attaching anything to baby, and like some of you said it really helps with peace of mind so i’m not constantly checking and can actually sleep. submitted by /u/PreviousWerewolf4904 to r/cosleeping [link] [comments]

Is the Nanit baby monitor worth it for responsive parenting?
hey fellow parents, first time dad gearing up for our baby and checking out gentle tools that support responsive caregiving, co sleeping awareness, and staying tuned into baby's natural cues and growth without any push for sleep training. curious if it's helpful for peace of mind, picking up on cries or coughs naturally, and tracking those early milestones as baby grows. any experiences from your first months? love to hear your takes. UPDATE: ended up going with the Nanit and after reading all the takes here i think the key is just using it mindfully without over checking, mainly for naps and those brief moments i roll away, and like someone mentioned it works well on phone without needing extra subscriptions if you keep it simple. submitted by /u/Weekly-Tumbleweed-28 to r/AttachmentParenting [link] [comments]

Best baby monitor to get? Preferably with a camera and app.
My sister's baby is due in a few months and I want to get her something they can really use. So I thought of a baby monitor. I still don't have my own so I really don't know anything about these but I've been looking at those smart monitors. So there are ones that track breathing motion without wearable sensors. That seems helpful because I know she'll be paranoid. Also saw something about those sleep pattern insights..? but I think I'll leave that to sis. These were particularly Nanit, Owlet, and Miku. But if you've had one of these, which one really helped? I just want something that will give my sis peace of mind when she's home alone or when our parents watch the baby. Update with this: Thanks for the advice about asking my sister. She said she's fine with breathing monitoring so we ended up getting the Nanit and she loves it. It actually gave her real peace of mind which would've been the opposite. Plus, she said the video quality is excellent. submitted by /u/PrinulPodgekinfat to r/Buyingforbaby [link] [comments]

Baby monitor for sleep tracking, I’m seriously considering for our first baby
I’m starting to think about all the gear we’ll actually use and not just stuff that looks cute. One thing that keeps coming up in my research is a baby monitor for sleep tracking. How much do you guys think it actually helps versus just being another screen to check at 2 AM? I’ve heard some monitors make a huge difference in understanding sleep patterns. Any advice for a dad-to-be who wants to do everything right but stay sane? Update: we decided to try the Nanit baby monitor and it’s been a big help. Nights feel a bit calmer now that we can see when our baby really needs us. It’s way more useful than I expected and not just another thing to worry about. submitted by /u/Thiebo-Awerta to r/predaddit [link] [comments]

Baby Monitors? WiFi, data driven - Nanit?
Hi everyone Sorry if I sound like a broken record - I have been trawling through this thread reading monitor recommendations but I can't find any that align with what I'm looking for. My wife and I are preparing to welcome a little one into the world, and one of the jobs I have taken ownership of is finding our baby monitor. I thought it'd be an easy job however I'm coming to find that it's not super easy to find good information about baby monitors! I'm looking for recommendations for a WiFi baby monitor that is data driven and has helpful safety features/notifications. WiFi is a must - bluetooth will not cut it in my house. My wife and I have also agreed that we value data/analytics and we want a baby monitor that will track things like sleep times and breathing etc - it's just who we are, so it's something we want. I think the Nanit Pro sounds like it's right for us, but I'm happy for someone to try convince me otherwise and tell me their experiences. A lot of the complaints about the Nanit are the cost, so I feel like I need to emphasise that my wife and I have agreed that this is something we're willing to spend good money on if it gives us peace of mind and gives us a better chance at sleeping well. I just want it to be good at what it does if I am paying the money. If I get the Nanit Pro, I'd be putting it on the floor stand so I can easily move it around the house. Once the little man settles in his room, I would probably wall mount it to avoid him destroying it (which I've read can happen once toddlers are able to stand in their cot). The upfront cost and the subscription (probably that middle tier one) are expensive, but like I said - we are ok with the cost, as long as it works. I'd also happily buy the accessories if they help. Listening to some reviews, it sounds like the Nanit does a good job in terms of notification frequency (I've heard some monitors will over-notify to the point you might want to turn off notifications altogether). I've heard the Nanit doesn't travel well. That's fine by me. I'll be buying a simple monitor for use at my parents' house, which I'll just take with me if we go on a trip. I don't mind that it runs entirely off your phone either. Anyway, please recommend/de-influence me. Just please don't try to convince me that all I need is something basic - I'm fully aware that it would work fine, but we are who we are and mama wants tech, so mama gets tech! TLDR: looking for a reliable baby monitor with useful data insights, useful features, good user interface that runs on WiFI, and good safety features (i.e., breathing etc) - probably the Nanit. Happy to invest in the right product. Does not need to be inexpensive or suited to travel. submitted by /u/hroro to r/BabyBumpsandBeyondAu [link] [comments]

Baby Monitor recommendations?
i’ve been looking at baby monitors lately and didn’t realize how many different versions there are until i started comparing them at first i thought this would be a really simple thing to buy, but now i’m stuck between video vs audio, wifi vs non-wifi, app-based ones vs the separate screen, and all of them somehow sound amazing and terrible at the same time depending on which review you read main thing i care about is reliability more than anything. i don’t want something that randomly disconnects, lags, or turns into one more thing to troubleshoot in the middle of the night. decent picture quality and night vision would be nice too, but mostly i just want something that works and doesn’t make me more anxious Edit: Thanks to everyone who chimed in. Here is a consolidated list of the ideas for the next person: - Infant Optics - $100 - High-definition 720p expansion camera with active noise reduction and remote pan/tilt/zoom; compatible only with the DXR-8 PRO monitor unit. - Babysense - $100 - Non-contact, battery-operated monitor using two under-mattress sensors to track micro-movements. Alerts if movement stops for 20 seconds or slows below 10 breaths/minute; FSA/HSA eligible and WiFi-free. - Nanit Pro - $250 - Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor & Flex Stand - 1080p Wi-Fi Video Camera, Sensor-Free Sleep & Breathing Motion Tracker, 2-Way Audio, Sound/Motion/Cry Notifications, Night Vision, and Breathing Band - HelloBaby - $100 - A 2-camera system with a 30-hour battery (ECO mode) and 5" IPS screen. Features remote pan/tilt/zoom, invisible infrared night vision, and a secure 1000ft range without WiFi. Includes VOX mode, two-way talk, and 8 lullabies. - Dr.Care - $160 - A dual-mode system featuring 2K resolution via the app and 1080P on the 5" parent unit. Includes "Triple Security" (AES-256 encryption, exclusive user pairing, and a Wi-Fi OFF mode), smart tracking, and a 15-hour VOX battery life. submitted by /u/ShroudedousYe to r/daddit [link] [comments]

A (sarcastic) Nanit Baby Monitor Review
As someone who spent over $400 on a premium Nanit bundle while pregnant, I'm now 4 months in and would like to share my experience. Here's some questions to assess whether you’re a good fit for the Nanit product: Are you also a parent who wants to place your baby down in their crib like a soldier places a bomb down in The Hurt Locker, only to leave the room and discover your camera ‘Can’t find a WiFi network’ for the 5th night in a row? Then the Nanit is for you! Do you also love the fun teasing of an app letting you know that ‘Activity has been detected at your baby’s crib’ - only to then not load the video stream? What parent doesn’t want to wonder what’s happening around their baby while they sleep 😉 But wait, there’s more! After shelling out hundreds of dollars for the Nanit, you then have the privilege to pay hundreds more on their mandatory subscription plans 🥰 Want all those cool analytics and video features that drew you to the product in the first place? Have fun spending your kid’s college tuition away on bleary video footage that makes your bedroom routine look like a 1920s black and white silent heist movie. And finally, please don’t forget that Nanit support has got your back. Don’t let the fact that they have no phone number or chat feature available make it seem like they don’t care - let their snails pace response via email do that for you! If you are like I was, a pregnant lady who is reading this and thinking “but that won’t be my experience! The Wirecutter wouldn’t mislead me 🤡” then please follow in my footsteps and buy the Nanit. Definitely don't listen to the 100+ people that left it a 1 star review on Trustpilot. I hope you enjoyed this rave review 🫶 submitted by /u/Seal-lion-936 to r/BabyBumps [link] [comments]

Nanit home display monitor worth it?
I originally added the Nanit display monitor to our baby registry mainly for the completion discount, in case we decided to buy it later. I was lucky enough to receive it as a gift at our baby shower, and now I’m debating whether to keep it. I’ve read mixed reviews about its battery life compared to the price, but I do think it could be really useful—and I’m so grateful to have been gifted it! Our plan is to use the Nanit as our primary baby monitor, and we’d like to keep the display screen for grandparents or other caregivers to use when helping with the baby. Please share any opinions/experiences if you have the nanit display! submitted by /u/glutenfreesocialite to r/Buyingforbaby [link] [comments]

I kind of hate the Nanit, but love it for ONE reason
I thought it might be helpful to share my experience with the Nanit, because I feel that most parents do not use it the way I do. I felt a little crazy searching for a monitor that fit what I was looking for, and the Nanit—although expensive and very imperfect—fits the bill and I would absolutely recommend it for people like me. TL;DR: the thing that I LOVE about the Nanit is the ability to forego streaming the audio feed, and instead rely entirely on push notifications. This means I don't have to listen to the whooooosshhhhhh of white noise all night, or be awoken by my baby's little grunts and shuffles around the crib. I only wake when she really needs me, and my sleep is SO much better for it. Longer version: When I first got a baby monitor, I wanted something very simple. Hated the idea of having it on my phone. I imagined having my phone open to the baby monitor app while trying to unwind at the end of the night watching TV and this just sounded awful to me. So with that in mind I got the Babysense monitor. A great monitor honestly! Easy to use, and the VOX mode allows you to mute audio unless a certain threshold is reached, at which point it will stream the audio feed. This was honestly almost perfect, however I felt that the all sensitivity settings for VOX were too sensitive for my scenario/baby (she's a pretty darn good sleeper). Even on "low sensitivity" I was still waking up multiple times throughout the night while my baby would just be doing a little fuss or grunt and then right back to sleep. I got a Nanit secondhand free from a friend so I figured what the hell, maybe this will give me an improvement on what I'm looking for. Of course it was still pricey because I had to buy the floor stand plus the subscription... even just that stuff was more than I paid for the BabySense. I enabled Nanit sound detection notifications and set the sound sensitivity on the low-ish side (not all the way low). At night, I mute the audio stream, but make sure that I'll hear the notifications on my phone (I use the Sleep focus on iPhone, but allow Nanit to bypass.) We've been doing this for 2 months now, and it's working amazing for us. Using the video and activity summary, I've been able to confirm that I'm not missing any notable events from my baby at night. And we are all sleeping so much better! And when I'm awake monitoring her, I don't have the annoyances I anticipated with a phone-based monitor because I keep the app closed unless I get a notification. In fact I don't even have to have my phone right by my side because the notifs go to my Apple watch. I wanted to share this perspective because I feel like many people who are pro-Nanit love it because it gives them ALL the data: every little event, all the insights, all the charts, breathing data, etc. I wanted to provide the POV from someone who wants the complete opposite: leave me alone unless my child is really making a fuss. And it has worked super well for that. That said, I have a million gripes about the app and the Home device, which we mostly got for other caregivers. But this is getting long. I'll go off in the comments if anyone wants, lol. submitted by /u/Benevolent-Sunflower to r/Nanit [link] [comments]

Is Nanit baby monitor really worth the hype as a gift for new parents?
Hey everyone! I’m thinking of gifting a baby monitor to some friends who are expecting their first baby, and I keep hearing amazing things about this one model. It tracks baby’s sleep, provides peace of mind, and lets parents talk to their little one remotely, basically a lifesaver for those early, sleepless nights. For any parents who’ve used a similar monitor, is it really as helpful as people say? Does it make a noticeable difference when you’re trying to get some rest or just need that extra reassurance? Would this be a practical, thoughtful gift, or is there something else you’d recommend for first-time parents? Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences! Update: I ended up gifting the Nanit baby monitor and actually got to help them set it up and try it out. The sleep tracking and crystal-clear bird's-eye view are honestly as cool as the hype suggests, and the peace of mind they get from the breathing motion alerts is already a huge relief for them. It’s definitely a solid win for anyone looking for a practical but high-end gift. submitted by /u/Outrageous-Month4220 to r/Parenting [link] [comments]

baby monitor recommendations for 2026? help us decide
circling back on this: thanks for all the advice. We ended up going with the Nanit and it solved our reliability worries. The connection is solid, night vision is great, and the breathing insights work without any extra sock. way easier than we expected. full transparency, this link gives me a small commission if you buy, your price doesn't change. we're finishing up our baby registry and the monitor is the one item we keep going back and forth on. we've read endless lists and "best of" articles, but they all seem to recommend different things. it's hard to know what's actually practical versus just well-marketed. our main concerns are reliability (no sudden disconnects in the middle of the night), decent night vision, and something that isn't overly complicated to set up. we're torn between a dedicated monitor system and a wifi camera that uses our phones. for parents who've tested theirs through the nightly routine, what has worked or not worked, for you? if you were buying a monitor fresh this year, which model would you choose and why? are the extra features like temperature sensors or lullabies actually useful, or do they just drive up the price? we'd really value some real-world experience to cut through the noise. submitted by /u/Secure_Army_8625 to r/predaddit [link] [comments]

PSA: Be wary of who has access to your baby monitors
One of the baby monitors is in our bedroom. My mom has come over a few times to watch the baby for short period. I found out today that my wife helped her download the mobile app to keep an eye on the baby and then just forgot about it. My mom loves to see her cute little granddaughter sleeping. I cannot imagine what she may have experienced on some random Tuesday night, just casually pulling up the app from her sofa with a cup of tea to see if she was asleep. EDIT: For all those with infosec-related comments, I fully understand and agree with the concerns… and I lost that battle completely. Security best practices did not match up to the Nanit baby monitors ability to track breathing (SIDS), cry/standing notification, and “sleep efficiency”. I’ve accepted that humans are the weakest link in any security posture, and that some unwashed mouth-breathers are probably siphoning off untold amounts of data off those baby cams every time they call home. submitted by /u/BluerKindofWhite_ to r/daddit [link] [comments]

Nanit vs other baby monitors?
FTM here and I’m about 3 months along. I keep seeing the Nanit on sale for Black Friday and I’m wondering if it’s actually worth it. I want good quality stuff, but the price has to make sense. I also hate that it comes with a subscription, insights are nice, but not a necessity for me. If anyone has alternatives they like, I’m open to those too. Or if the Nanit is truly worth it, I’ll grab it while it’s 30% off for black friday. I keep seeing it on influencers reviews and everyone and their mum are on the nanit train. Do they usually run sales like this later in the year, or is Black Friday the best time to buy? submitted by /u/GeneralStrong7479 to r/UninfluencedReviews [link] [comments]

Fell asleep with the baby monitor on mute accidentally
I feel TERRIBLE. I woke up around 5 am because I needed to pump, surprised that my 8 mo old son has slept this long without waking up (he usually stirs around 3-4am, he’s breastfed so he’s known to wake up for a little snack). And of course this is the first night I put him in his crib in his own room all night rather than next to our bed. I had 27 sound notifications around 2:03 to 2:37… I just feel sick to my stomach. Is this a rite of passage in parenthood or am I just a POS? 🫠 ETA: To trigger the sound notification on my monitor (Nanit), he would have to be crying pretty loudly which is why I feel AWFUL. I didn’t realize the sensitivity to trigger the alarm was so high. I fixed that 😅 My house isn’t large but the layout with doors shut make it difficult to hear noises. If we were in the living room that would’ve been different but bedroom to bedroom is opposite ends of the house. Thank yall for helping this guilt-ridden first time mom feel a little better about it. It’s now night 2 post-accidental-muting and he’s slept through the night both times now so I guess I did accidentally sleep train! Lol he’s a very happy baby and seems to still love me despite the oopsie 😂 submitted by /u/ConstantTraditional2 to r/Parenting [link] [comments]

When did you stop using the baby monitor over night?
Our LO is 9 months old and has been sleeping through the night 8PM ish - 7/8AM ish since 5 months. Our LO sleeps with a hatch and listens to waves all night and it comes through the monitor (Nanit) so we listen to waves all night which is not super peaceful regurgitated through the monitor. We have a fairly large home and our primary bedroom is downstairs and the nursery is upstairs, so LO is not in earshot. While we aren't ready to cut the monitor yet (due to age and proximity) wondering when you all stopped listening to the monitor overnight? submitted by /u/aspiring_pickle to r/beyondthebump [link] [comments]

Do not buy the Nanit baby monitor
In case anyone is on the fence about buying the nanit, just wanted to leave a negative review to help others out. CONS: - The nanit constantly disconnects from our network and the only way to reconnect is by entering sleeping baby's room and pressing a button that then flashes a blue light at her. We set up a couple alternative networks for when wifi is down but you still need to physically reset the nanit to switch to another network. - You are reliant on your phone for a baby monitor as they don't offer an external monitor. Goodbye battery. - It does not have a "sleep" mode, like where it only turns on if baby makes a sound, so it must always be on. - It's ridiculously expensive. If you spend FOUR HUNDRED dollars for the pro version, you get rewarded with just a year of the BASIC plan of "insights"... and then stuck with an app filled with things asking you to pay more to see them. - Can't travel with it - does not work on a wifi that requires a sign in like a hotel wifi. There are a lot more things I could list that suck about the nanit but those are the biggest issues. DO NOT BUY IT. submitted by /u/LionTameratLaw to r/beyondthebump [link] [comments]

Nanit saved my baby’s life
I just found this sub and wanted to share our story. This all took place October 2022. My daughter was born in August 2022 premature at 29 weeks and weighed 2lbs 3oz. She was in the NICU for 52 days without any major problems. I mean, she was on oxygen, in an incubator, fed through a feed tube but all typical preemie issues. I was a first time mom and when she was discharged from the hospital I honestly was terrified. Bought the Nanit knowing I could see her all night (even if the bassinet was in my room) and I could watch her breathing. It was an expensive purchase that the doctors said I didn’t need but I didn’t care. Her whole life was in a hospital on monitors and this is all I knew. She was discharged Monday October 10th. The morning of Sunday October 16th the Nanit went off she stopped breathing. I jumped up, rubbed her back and tried to feed her. She did not want to eat, she looked almost gray. I brought her into the ER.. shortly after triage she went into cardiac arrest. I 100% will always recommend the Nanit to anyone. If I did not have this monitor my baby would not be with us today. submitted by /u/mand_ to r/Nanit [link] [comments]

Recommended Baby Monitor (Non-Wifi)? ((Also Owlet is AWFUL))
First I just need to get this off my chest: The Owlet Camera is the biggest piece of shit and I want to Office Space smash it to pieces in the middle of a field. My husband & I HATE this thing. We didn't get the sock because of the mixed reviews (right before the FDA stepped in) but we decided to go with the camera. Might as well have thrown $150 into the fire place. I mean Owlet is so popular and shiny and advertised so hard to us. It constantly disconnects on us. We'll check it right before we put baby down and as soon as we step out of the room it fails. Our internet is fine and nothing else struggles to connect. To reset it the robot voice is so loud! When it does function it lags like 5-10 seconds and I've already heard baby through the wall if I'm nearby. The quality isn't even that good for how much money we spent. Also I found out I just hate using my phone as the viewing monitor ((Sometimes ya girl just wants to disassociate on TikTok for awhile...)) With that out of the way...Does anyone recommend a Baby Monitor that doesn't use Wifi and comes with a hand held device to show the video? Preferably from Amazon cause we got a gift card recently. Like I don't need crystal clear video but as long as I can see her & hear her that would be great! Thank you! Edit: WOW! I didn't think this was going to get this popular! Every time we woke up to feed baby I would just see more Upvotes and even better more Comments! Also thank you for the Rewards! I'm not entirely sure what they do but they look pretty! Haha! Also thank you for ALL the suggestions! Husband and I are going to pluck through them to see what will be the right fit. I hope this thread also helped others with their research on finding the perfect monitor that'll work for them! :-) I'm both happy and sad to read other people's problems with the Owlet. I'm happy to see it works for some people and I hope it continues to do so. Unfortunately we purchased ours about a month before she was born and it's now a little over 2 months of having it. We paid in cash and I lost the receipt (I probably threw it away) so I don't think Owlet would do anything to help. Considering it a expensive lesson learned. Cheers to ya'll and Happy Holidays! submitted by /u/TrulyOutrageous89 to r/beyondthebump [link] [comments]
