I posted here a few days ago looking for advice on how to possibly fix my son's busted/leaking Nee Doh squishy fidget toy. Shoe Goo worked! Per some suggestions, we bought some Shoe Goo at Target for just under $5. I put one application of it on the Nee Doh to seal the leak/hole. Once that dried, I put another application on to get the "cap" that had fallen off/out to stick back on. Finally, I put a third application of Shoe Goo on to completely seal and secure the cap. In retrospect, that cap was completely unnecessary to put back on. I work at a card shop, we primarily sell Pokemon cards (both singles and sealed product, though mostly singles for obvious reasons). It's been a good time. I love my regulars, it's a hobby I enjoy that I get to work in, we have a zero tolerance policy for resellers, and I like my coworkers. Ever since the squishy craze took off, we started stocking some. Mostly the bootleg dumplings and the real NeeDoh cubes and squishy butters. They have since started outselling cards to the point where it's the only thing being purchased in the register every time we take a look at our transactions. Our squishy stock increases every time I go to work. My regulars are coming in less and less because the squishy people are too much. The Needohs have cannibalized a card case. Anyone coming in to sell cards to us has used at least some of the money they get out of it to buy a fucking squishy. This stupid fucking craze has changed me from someone working in card games into a fucking squishy peddler. It has changed a job I loved being at to just regular degular retail bullshit with the added bonus of needing to deal with insufferable squishy people and obnoxious 12 year olds. I hope tiktok moves on to its next hyperfixation soon and that it's not something my store has access to because never before has a shop simply carrying a product made me consider quitting. I don't even care if you're not a scalper and genuinely like these stupid things. I'm thinking I can't be the only one and I'm hoping somebody else has solved this "catastrophe". So my oldest son got one of these Nee Doh things back before they were all the rage. Back then, he spent $8 on it. That was expensive enough, but it was his allowance and his choice. As many of you may know, the things are crazy popular at the moment. They were almost impossible to find last month. Currently, they're going for about $40 a piece. Give or take 10 bucks. Anyway, the bottom fell off of my son's Nee Doh Gumdrop. I did prepare him by telling him that these are really hard to replace at the moment and presumably impossible to fix. That said, I've already tried hot glue. Seemed like it was going to work until it just popped right off. I'm currently testing out some fabric glue I had laying around. I could be persuaded to go so far as buying rubber cement if anybody thinks it would work (That stuff maybe useful for future projects). Any tried and true solutions? Loathing. The only word to describe my feelings toward these things. Every ten minutes, we get calls about these things. People are sleeping in their cars overnight in our parking lot to get them. I have seen fights and arrests over them. We once had a guy requesting to hold 20 at a time claiming they were for his daughter’s softball team. Nope. He was selling them for $40 a pop on Facebook Marketplace. I've been waiting for these to be delivered. The Super Fuzz Ball was from Menkind and the others from BigJigs. The Super Fuzz Ball is ridiculously big. I am barely able to hold it with one hand. The filling inside is slightly softer. The normal Fuzz Ball box says it is made of "Polyvinyl Alcohol Gel and Maltose" while the Super Fuzz Ball box has its ingredients listed as just "Polyvinyl Alcohol Gel". So I assume the lack of Maltose makes this have a much softer squish. It does have a few air bubbles inside which causes it to not feel as dense as the normal Fuzz Ball. The outer material is super soft. I got two more Nice Cube Glows. I already have a green one but I didn’t have the orange one. I really love the Glow Cubes. Same firm squish that a Nice Cube has but has a matte outer material that glows in the dark. I am so happy with the Glitter and Glow Nice Cubes. I unfortunately got sent two blues and one purple instead of all different colours but I'm still very happy with them. They feel like a normal Nice Cube. They just have a ton of glitter inside and glow really bright in the dark. They almost look radioactive. Reminds me of Uranium glass. Out of all of these, I think my favourite has to be the Super Fuzz Ball but those glitter and glow cubes are amazing. If you want to find these; I make posts whenever online retailers have them in stock at MSRP prices. So just check my post history or keep checking this subreddit. All the retailers I check only ship in the UK except one which does ship to other countries including the US. Got the Teenie Fuzz Balls from BigJigs and the rest is from Menkind. Finally got my pink Gumdrop. Really wanted the other to be purple as I already have blue and orange but I'm just happy to have any as they are one of my favourite ones. The Colour Change Cube is a lot firmer than I expected it to be. It is filled with a doughy like filling instead of the maltose filling. The Teenie Fuzz Balls are amazing. Feels exactly like the normal Fuzz Ball, just mini. The Niceberg is huge and is one of the hardest maltose toys I've ever had. It takes a lot of strength to squeeze it. All in all, I absolutely love them. If anyone in the UK is looking for NeeDohs, keep checking my post history. If your kids never cared for squishies before but now are SUDDENLY sending you out to stores to buy a bunch…. Buy them ONE. There’s a very high chance all of those cubes and dumplings and other squishies you’re buying by the armful for your ONE child that insists they’re the greatest things ever will not be their favorite toys come next month. If you have multiple kids, remember that the Teenie Needohs and Groovy Fruits have 3 in a single pack, so maybe encourage your children to share 1 pack before you buy 3 packs for your 3 kids and eventually start stepping on a maximum of 9 squishies when your kids inevitably go back to their tablets. Buying one encourages your kid to figure out if they actually like squishies for themselves, rather than influencers telling them to like them. And if they ultimately decide they don’t like NeeDohs, you’ve only got one squishy to worry about collecting dust. Remember, this is a trend and it’s popular with KIDS. With some of us choosing to buy from resellers online, we run into the risk of getting a counterfeit product. I recently got an obviously fake Nice Cube from a seller on eBay. If you do, request a refund, leave negative feedback, and report it to eBay so they can remove it. They’re selling these counterfeits for scalper prices too. I’ve seen a couple other counterfeits with the NeeDoh branding on the box, but I could tell it was fake solely BECAUSE of the box. I wanted to make a list of some stuff to look out for to help others before they spend their hard earned money on these fake things. ❗️1. If you’re buying from a reseller,* always, alway*s look for the clear sticker seals that keep the box shut. The fakes I’ve seen do not have the clear stickers. ❗️2. Pay attention to the photo and text quality on the box. The one I received had the same pics as the real NeeDoh, but the image/print quality was blurry and discolored. The text was also the wrong size. The ingredient was also described incorrectly. ❗️3. Make sure to look at the Schylling logo on the box, if pics are showing it. Schylling’s logo looks very specific so even if it looks slightly different, it’s fake. ❗️4. If you bought one, the toy might have the “NeeDoh” logo on it, but compare it to an actual. The size might be different. ❗️5. Make sure to locate the Schylling logo on the bottom of the toy. They should all have it if it’s real (not sure about the Teenies though). ❗️6. The “Nice Cube” I received came in a plastic wrap, which the originals do not. The consistency was also much softer, almost jelly like, and very sticky. It also had multiple air bubbles inside. Recently i've seen ALOT of NeeDoh posts on my fyp on TikTok. It became a huge trend. I see videos of people buy like 5-20 NeeDohs in one-go, because it's trendy and aesthetic-looking. But because of this, they're constantly out of stock, preventing neurodivergent individuals from buying them. Everytime i go to toy stores to search for a NeeDoh, they're out of stock. Did we forget NeeDohs aren't for the aesthetic but for neurodivergent individuals or children? They're made for sensory stimulation and stress relief, which is something many neurodivergent individuals need. Went to Walmart and they just got a fresh batch of NeeDohs the color-changing balls and the Nice Ice Cubes ♥️♥️. While I was checking out, this grandma told me her granddaughter had been looking everywhere for them. I showed her where they were, but then I saw a reseller loading a bunch into his cart. Luckily, this Walmart knows me from when I’ve helped stop Pokémon scalpers and taking stuff out their cart before, and they don’t really mind, so I stepped in. I took them back, stayed by the display, and handed them out to kids and parents who actually wanted them. Hopefully more people can find some at retail.
