Newborn Clothing for an autumn baby
Forgive me if this is the wrong place, please direct me and I’ll be happy to post where it may be more appropriate. My husband and I are expecting our first in late September! We are equal parts excited, terrified, and clueless about specifics. I went shopping for some of our first baby outfits today (onesies, socks, some adorable hats I couldn’t resist) and it got me thinking… How much will we need? And with winter coming so soon after their birth, what should we have on-hand for a 0-3 month old? I’ve heard layering is best, so do I need to get more shirts/pants or long-sleeve/full-leg onesies than summer newborns would need? I’m a SAHM so I can basically do laundry as needed, I’m expecting a decent amount of spit-up and poop especially early-on as we figure out what we’re doing. But how many basic onesies should we have? What can I expect as far as how often we’ll be changing outfits/needing clean clothes at a moments notice? I appreciate any advice you can give and thank you in advance submitted by

Newborn photoshoot outfits
Hi! Having my second baby in July and looking for newborn photo outfit ideas. I'll be potentially 1-2 weeks postpartum depending on when the baby arrives so something that is flattering for that stage where you still basically look pregnant would be great, preferably a dress. I wore navy in pics with my first baby so trying to switch it up. I have a few nap dresses from the thrift shop I'm considering but I'm worried those might not look as flattering as I hope. TIA for your recommendations :) submitted by /u/_rebeldiamonds to r/NuulyReviews [link] [comments]

New outfits for the babies
Any one else have little families in their collections? Allan, Lena and Brooke all got new outfits for their little ones from Etsy (QTs Designs). I was especially happy to find the cute baby carrier - wish I’d grabbed two. The middle one, Matteo, is from a skipper babysitter set, the other two are Zuru My Mini Baby silicone dolls. They work great as newborns, where the Barbie babies are more like one-year-olds to me. submitted by /u/Lulu_The_Nerd to r/Barbie [link] [comments]

I am ☠️ that they bought a reborn baby doll for P to play with. Also had to feature a second slide with the tackiest baby outfit ever
We got a baby doll for our toddler when expecting a baby but not a reborn doll!!! Get your child a play baby doll, what is this girl doing. 😂 I’ve also noticed she assumes incompetence in P. She was SHOCKED he went to grab the sheet tucker the other day when making the bed.. like no, that’s normal toddler behavior and to be expected for his age. He’s not some genius, he’s just not a baby and understands way more than she knows (because she doesn’t research much about toddler stuff unless it’s linkable, surprise surprise). When she was playing with the baby doll, she was acting as if that’s his actual sister. Girl, tell him you’re playing pretend! “We’re pretending this is your baby sister. We need to be gentle with babies. Isn’t this baby doll so cute?” She assumes he’s fully incompetent. I also had to add the slide of the atrocious Valentine’s Day outfit because it’s so tacky and I can’t stand how they always throw him in “mommy’s boy” and “daddy’s buddy” stuff. Poor D is going to be in daddy’s little princess outfits constantly 🤮 so tacky. I guess what else can we expect though from someone who thinks Thomas Kinkade is an original Picasso. submitted by /u/flowersandchocolate to r/janellebrandomsnark [link] [comments]

Update: I finally got the full retaliatory CPS report my mother filed against us. It was even worse than I imagined.
About two months ago, I made a post here (I’ll link it in the comments). It was long, but the TL;DR was that my mother retaliated against reasonable pregnancy and postpartum boundaries in one of the most horrific ways imaginable - by filing a false CPS report against my husband and me. When I confronted her (because I immediately recognized the tone and phrasing), she admitted it in writing and said she did it to “teach us a lesson that rules like this are not normal in normal families.” Her words, not mine. Because she works for CPS in another state, she knew the exact language, trigger phrases and wording to get it to land despite her having never met our daughter. A few days ago, I finally received the entire CPS report from the county where it was filed as I was entitled to it under state law. Some parts were redacted, but I saw everything. The intake summary, her allegations, and the findings. I should not have read it at 30 weeks pregnant as it literally made me physically ill. It was so much worse than I ever realized because there were things in the report the caseworker never even mentioned to us. I honestly think they saw how irrelevant, nonsensical, and unhinged some of it was and chose not to repeat it. Here are some of the things that were included: • My sexuality. The report explicitly states that “mother of child is bisexual” and that “parents have had others involved in their marriage, unsure if still ongoing.” Yes, I am bisexual. Years ago (most recently in 2022, two years before our daughter was born) my husband and I consensually explored group sex a few times. This came up in a calm, matter-of-fact conversation at a time when I thought I could trust my mother. She appeared completely neutral about it then. Apparently, she later decided my sexual orientation and private adult choices were relevant to the welfare of a child who didn’t even exist at the time. • “Shopping on TikTok” and an “uncertified car seat.” The report says she was concerned because we “shop on TikTok” and therefore might have uncertified baby gear and an uncertified car seat. First of all, TikTok is not a shop, it's a social media paltform. Yes, I know TikTok Shop exists now, but it barely did at the time and it’s mostly cheap clothes and makeup, not baby gear. Second, our daughter had a Doona car seat. My mother physically saw it during her visit while I was pregnant and the brand name was plainly visible. She could have Googled it in 30 seconds and seen it’s a legitimate U.S.-approved brand. Third, and this is the part that really gets me, no U.S. hospital discharges a newborn without confirming a legitimate car seat and checking for proper installation. As someone who works in this field, she should know that. • Accusing me of selling baby gifts for drug money. She claimed that because she sent gifts and didn’t receive thank-you notes, she was thought I was selling them for drugs. Every single gift she ever sent was something like Amazon board books or holiday outfits. None were worth more than maybe $30. I always sent thank-you texts, but she is the type who expects handwritten thank-you cards for literally everything. The idea that I’m running a drug empire by flipping Valentine’s Day board books on Facebook Marketplace would almost be funny if it weren’t so serious. • Fabricating an IRS “scam for drug money.” She claimed the IRS had “seized our money” because "we were running scams for drug money". This never happened. What actually happened was my husband massively overpaid taxes in 2021 ( because crypto taxes are more confusing than astrophysics). The IRS later sent a letter saying there was a large six figure credit on his account with no matching return, likely because a large volume of mailed returns from that year were lost. My husband amended the return as there were errors on it, again due to the sheer complexity of crypto taxes, and while the entire amount originally paid isnt owed back, a significant amount is. We’ve been working through a taxpayer advocate and a congressional liaison and the amended return has now been accepted and a refund is expected within the next month. None of this involved seizures, scams, or drugs. • The most egregious lie: melatonin drugging. She claimed I admitted to “drugging my baby with melatonin since birth so she would sleep through the night.” I have never given my child melatonin. Ever. It’s not recommended for children under two, and I knew that well before pregnancy. For the first 8 weeks, my baby woke every 3 hours to eat, like all newborns do, and we fed her every time. The only thing I ever mentioned was gripe water, an over-the-counter product approved for infants over two months old, primarily for indigestion but it can also help with sleep. The pediatrician actually suggested it. She didn’t sleep through the night until around four months old, which is developmentally normal especially for a non breastfed baby. • Milestones and prematurity. The report also questioned developmental milestones (specifically sitting and rolling) without accounting for adjusted age. My daughter was born premature, and any person with a functioning brainstem (especially someone in this field) should know that premature babies often hit milestones later on a calendar but appropriately for adjusted age. In reality, many of her milestones were met right on time or even early once adjusted age was considered. When I confronted my mother about the report, she repeatedly claimed, “I knew they would never take [daughter] from you. That rarely ever happens.” But the CPS report itself explicitly states that three loving family members in Florida were ready to intervene if a safety plan was enacted, those three being my mother, my grandmother, and my stepfather. A safety plan at that level implies removal of a child. As I’ve since learned, while CPS is far from perfect, their stated goal is almost always to keep children with their parents whenever possible. Even if any of her allegations had been true (which they were not) the likely outcome would have been follow-up visits, parenting classes, or support services, not removal. So the contradiction is chilling. She claimed she “knew” my daughter wouldn’t be taken, yet still positioned herself as the loving rescuer ready to step in from two time zones away. That was the most frightening part of all. CPS doesn’t operate on a “grandma calls, grandma gets the baby” basis. If a child were ever to be temporarily removed, placement would typically go to the most immediately capable and appropriate caregiver, someone like my SIL, who is in her mid 30s and already raising three young children, not someone over 50 living out of state with no daily caregiving role. Before reading the report, I didn’t believe my mother did this with the intent of taking my child, even temporarily. But seeing how she inserted herself into the narrative has made me question that. Whether driven by entitlement, control, or a do-over child fantasy, it is now impossible to ignore that she at least imagined a version of this where my daughter was taken from us, and that realization has been deeply unsettling. The final outcome was every single allegation was unfounded. Not one concern was substantiated. Not even a minor “yellow flag.” While CPS language is careful and bureaucratic, it was very clear they saw the report as contradictory, exaggerated, and not made in good faith. As I’ve started to open up about this more, especially in private Facebook groups with similar themes to this subreddit, Facebook’s algorithm has begun suggesting public groups to me with names like “Grandparents Who Can’t See Their Grandkids” and “Mothers of Estranged Sons.” Out of curiosity, I looked and they were about as entitled and narcissistic as you’d expect. But I shared my story there anyway. What surprised me most was that even those grandparents (many of whom based on their own post histories were clearly cut off for good reason), said that what my mother did was monstrous. Even they said this was a line they could never imagine crossing. Even they said I was absolutely right to cut my mother off permanently and that she should never have access to my child again. I didn’t need validation from people who, in many cases, are not good actors themselves but the fact that even they were horrified was deeply eye-opening. If anyone has been through something similar or has navigated the aftermath of false reporting, I’m open to hearing how you processed it. Right now, I’m just trying to breathe, protect my family, and not let her steal any more peace than she already has. TL;DR: I finally got the full CPS report my mother filed against us. It included irrelevant, fabricated, and outright false claims about my sexuality, parenting, finances, and my child’s health. Every allegation was unfounded. It was clearly retaliatory. Reading it was traumatic but it also confirmed I wasn’t imagining any of this. submitted by /u/cosmicvoyager333 to r/raisedbynarcissists [link] [comments]

MIL posted my newborn before I could, demanded a paternity test, and keeps trying to steal my baby’s “firsts
Hi Reddit, I need to vent and honestly need perspective because I feel like I’m losing my mind. This is me and my boyfriend’s first baby. Our son was born in September 2025. The delivery itself was already emotional and stressful because right after he was born, he had oxygen issues and was taken away almost immediately. I barely got time with him. In the delivery room while giving birth, I had my grandmother, my aunt, and my cousin some of my closest family. My grandmother is basically my mother. We’ve lived together for years, and she’s been my main support my entire life. My boyfriend’s mom (MIL) and his grandmother also came, along with my family the next day they saw me. After everyone left, MIL came back early the next morning while we were completely exhausted. She told us to sleep, so we did. While we were asleep, she snuck a photo of my newborn and posted it on social media—before me or my boyfriend ever got the chance to announce our own son. I woke up and saw it and absolutely sobbed. I cried to my boyfriend, but I was too scared to say anything to her because I didn’t want to cause a fight right after giving birth. Later that day, my grandmother came to visit. Remember she had not gotten to hold him yet because he was taken away immediately after birth. When she asked MIL if she could hold him, MIL lost it. She got extremely angry and yelled at my boyfriend for letting my grandmother hold him. A few days later, we finally got home and barely had time to settle before MIL started pushing us to come over. My boyfriend explained that I was postpartum, recovering, and that our pediatrician told us not to take the baby out for a few weeks. We followed doctor’s orders. She got mad anyway. Then things escalated. She got angry over something small and sent my boyfriend’s brother after him. His brother called our son “just some baby” and said we were ruining my boyfriend’s life by having him. MIL also called my grandmother an “old ass woman.” Later, my boyfriend told me that MIL had asked him for a paternity test. He declined, but just knowing she asked shattered me. Now our son is 4 months old, and it hasn’t stopped. She constantly tries to take his firsts. She got his first roll and his first giggle and continues to buy him his first outfits for holidays like Christmas and thanksgiving, which honestly broke my heart. Those are moments I can never get back. She repeatedly says things like: “Give him to me.” Or “That’s my baby. And Tells us what to do with him like she’s the parent. I feel like I’m being pushed aside in my own motherhood. I already struggle with postpartum emotions, and this has made me feel robbed, disrespected, and invisible. I don’t know how to set boundaries without it blowing up into a huge family fight, but I’m also scared that if I don’t, she’ll keep taking more from me. AITA for getting upset with my husband over hand me down clothes for our newborn? + 5 year update
I am NOT OOP, OOP posted from 2 accounts: u/Twinkledogfarts48 & u/Happy_Hippo21 Originally posted to r/AmItheAsshole & r/AITAH AITA for getting upset with my husband over hand me down clothes for our newborn? + 5 year update Thanks to u/queenlegolas for suggesting this BoRU Mood Spoilers: all is well Original Post: June 29, 2020 Hey y’all. So my mom lives a few states away and is not able to help prepare for her first grandchild the way she’d like to unfortunately. A friend of hers asked her if I’d like some baby clothes, some slightly worn and some never used before. I said of course! And my mom went through all the clothes and washed it and mailed it to me. So when we received the box of clothes I was pretty excited to go through it as we haven’t bought anything baby related yet, as I mentioned this is my husband and my first child. I think I showed him maybe two pieces of clothing and I could already tell he was unhappy. He said we’d just donate all this stuff to goodwill because he wanted to buy all new clothes for our baby to which I said ofc we will still buy new clothes but it’s nice to have a good amount of clothes, especially since they go through clothes like crazy, or so I’ve heard anyway. He just said no, that his child won’t wear hand me downs so I stopped showing him clothes and started packing up the box. So he then asked why I was upset and that he still wanted to see stuff but I didn’t see the point anymore as he’d pretty much ruined the moment and gesture for me at that point. I know it’s not new clothes but my mom was just trying to help and she literally went through the mountain of clothes and washed every single item. The box smelled amazing when I opened it! Idk...it hurt my feelings honestly for him to dismiss it like that and just say we’d donate it all without even taking the time to look through it and I guess because this is the first time we look at baby stuff together it hurt even more? He got upset then saying he didn’t understand why I was making him “the bad guy” for saying he wants to buy all new clothes. Verdict: Not the Asshole Relevant / Top Comments OOP responds to a long comment about her husband's background as he was growing up. How is his relationship with OOP's mother? OOP: He grew up wealthy, and while we aren’t swimming luxury rich, we are thankfully pretty well off. We are both smart shoppers and don’t overpay for things when we can find something for a better deal. when I started to notice that he wasn’t happy with the clothes I asked him if he never wore hand me downs before to which he said no, never. I was raised by a single mom and an older sibling so hand me downs aren’t a big deal to me. As far as his relationship with my mom it’s honestly great, she’s never inserted herself in our relationship. They get along well, he calls her mom and tells her he loves her. Even when he talks to other people about her he always says that she’s the sweetest/kindest person he knows. I did tell him I felt he was just trashing her efforts and he said that’s not how he meant it when he said we’d donate the clothes at all, that he just wants all new clothes and doesn’t understand why that makes him the bad guy. I appreciate your response though, sometimes I wonder if the pregnancy hormones make me too sensitive Commenter 1: NTA. Your doing good for the environment and your wallets! As long as their clean and not destroyed, it doesn’t matter. Commenter 2: I've never once heard a rational person say "thank God I got new clothes for my baby that they outgrew in a month, I'm so glad they weren't used." Baby clothes are pretty pointless new if you can get used! It can be nice to get a couple cute photo outfits, but it's not worth spending $100 in something for a month or two. Commenter 3: NTA - It's your baby too and you have a say in what they wear?? Babies do go through clothes like crazy and there's no reason to get everything new when you have access to hand me downs because so much will have to get thrown out/handed down anyways. He got upset then saying he didn't understand why I was making him "the bad guy" This seems like a red flag... It's manipulative and also gas lighting. You weren't upset with him for wanting to buy new clothes you were upset because he completely shut you down and made it seem like your used clothing was not good enough for his baby. He got caught being a dick about this and decided to turn it onto you and make it about him being upset. Commenter 4: NTA. New clothes are wasted on babies. Update: August 25, 2025 (a bit over five years later) Update: AITA for getting upset with my husband over hand me down newborn clothes. Original post https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/s/SCsqNzBTK9 . Idk how to actually add the link. Haha. I got curious about my original post from a throw away account and felt like providing an unnecessary and not at all requested updated. I kept all the hand me downs. I genuinely don’t recall as it’s been 5 years what led to it no longer being an issue but I think he understood where I was coming from. We bought a lot of new clothes for our baby together and had fun going to buy buy baby back when it still existed and seeing all the baby stuff and shopping what we needed. It was a mix of seeing all the other costs (monitor, stroller, crib, mattress, etc) pile up but also understanding my moms good heart to appreciate all the clothes she sent. Let me tell you, it took a hot minute to put it all away. You know the XL Home Depot moving boxes? She sent one of those STACKED w all sort of baby clothes. If I remember correctly shipping alone was $100+ as it was going coast to coast. For all those worried he was gaslighting and being manipulative, we are fine 🩷 had another baby together 2 years later and still happily married. Ofc our second was a girl lol so while she did get a lot of hand me downs from her brother, she got a lot of cute girly things of her own. For what it’s worth, it has all been a huge learning experience for us both as I’m sure it is for any new parent. We (he) learned to embrace the hand me downs and some of my most sentimental pieces worn by both of our kids were not new when we received them. We learned how quickly kids go thru clothes and how if you really look at it, aside from the blowouts, baby clothes get the LEAST use. They’re just drooly potatoes. Toddler clothes is a whole other ball game. The knees on clothes don’t stand a chance!! All this to say, we learned to communicate about a lot and while we still disagree about even more we are always in a position to discuss it and work thru it. He is an amazing father, and some of you hit the nail on the head when you said he might be basing his worth on what he can provide for them. Most importantly, what he constantly gives them even on his busiest days, is his time. And all the hand me downs? Well the pile grew with our additions, and we happily gave it to one of his cousins who had their first baby about a year ago, with my holding back my most sentimental pieces for keepsakes. My mom’s a seamstress so I’ve challenged her to make a teddy bear with them, I just need to ship them to her. She’s come out and visited multiple times and vice versa but that’s always forgotten. Relevant / Top Comments Commenter 1: A friend has patchwork quilts made for each child (they’re all 15+) made of different fabrics from their childhoods. Baby blankets, soccer team or day-camp jerseys, Halloween costumes, etc. I want a do-over (grandchild!) to make such a collection. OOP: I love this. Every vacation we’ve taken I’ve gotten them t shirts from the place so I can make them a quilt of them all when they turn 18. May or may not have stolen that from twilight 😂 Commenter 2: Oh the delusions of first time parenthood. All new clothes for a baby lol. Glad he got off that quickly Commenter 3: this was such a wholesome update. honestly it makes a lot of sense now that you explained it becoming new parents comes with so many emotions, expenses, and expectations, so of course the clothes felt like a bigger deal at the time. I love that you both found a balance between enjoying the fun of buying new things together and appreciating the love behind the hand me downs. the way you describe the “drooly potato” stage made me laugh because it’s so true newborn clothes barely see any wear before the next growth spurt. it’s sweet that those little outfits ended up holding sentimental value instead of resentment, and even sweeter that you passed them on to someone else starting their journey. the teddy bear idea from your mom is going to be such a beautiful keepsake. it sounds like you and your husband learned the most important thing not to avoid disagreements, but to actually work through them. your kids will carry that lesson just by watching you two. Trashy and Crashy. I don't know what's more cringey. Using her newborn for an alcohol ad to make money or her outfit and pose. They had to set that up so it appears he's comfortable and taking a bottle while she drinks a can of hard seltzer. Why does she need to use her baby in an ad at all?

How big was your baby when they were born and how long were they in newborn clothing and diapers?
Just curious since I’m hearing so much about how newborn clothing and diapers are “practically pointless” and I should get 0-3 month clothing and size 1 diapers. Just for some context… just had my baby shower and we are the first ones on both sides of our families (and we both have very large extended families) to have a baby :) so grandparents, great grandparents and aunts and uncles spoiled the little one…. But got pretty much all newborn diapers and clothing with no way to exchange for larger sizes. So we have probably 5 boxes of newborn diapers, 30 newborn onesies, 10 newborn “outfits” and 20 newborn body suits 😅 some 0-3 month onesies/clothing but not as many as newborn. We did mention on our registry that we would prefer clothing to be 0-3 month and larger for sizing and size 1 and larger diapers but “newborn clothes are just so cute and fun to buy” 😅 Very thankful for what we have received… just worried we wont get through it all before baby grows out of it submitted by /u/Practical-Drama-2626 to r/pregnant [link] [comments]

Newborn Outfits
I’m expecting a baby boy in a couple weeks and he’s expecting to be large. I’m measuring 2 weeks ahead and the doctor thinks he will be a minimum of 8 pounds. I’m having a hard time figuring out how much newborn clothes I should have as I know they grow out of them really fast. Should I focus on 0-3 months instead? I’m a FTM and have no clue how often you change a newborn. submitted by /u/Zealot1029 to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

Outfit my baby wore home from the hospital
Hello everyone, I have a desperate plea. I accidentally got rid of the outfit my baby wore home from the hospital and I'm heartbroken. I know I’ll never find that outfit but I’m hoping to replace it. Does anyone have this sleeper in newborn size? Others have guessed it to be Carters from 2021 but I’m not sure how accurate that is. Thank you! submitted by /u/megkra to r/HelpMeFind [link] [comments]

How long was your baby wearing newborn sizes?
A friend gave me all her kids’ old clothes and I’m trying to figure out how many of each size I realistically need(taking into consideration the first 4-6 months we’ll be using a laundromat). Also what’s the difference between newborn and 0-3? submitted by /u/beesathome to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

AITA for telling my friend I can’t take “newborn” photos of her baby because it’s too old now?
I do photography as a side business, because I have a 9-5 I do it mostly on the weekends, and usually my clients are friends and family or were recommended to me by friends or family. My specialty is newborn babies, but I happily photograph kids and babies of any age. However; newborn photo shoots have to be done in the first 7-10 days, babies older than that fight the poses too much for it to be done safely, and I refuse to do anything that could hurt the baby. One of my good friends had a baby 3 weeks ago. At her baby shower in January, I gave her a cute little coupon for a free newborn shoot. This wasn’t part of her gift but rather a friendly gesture since it’s her first baby, and I had done the same thing for her sister a few years ago. When the baby was born, I congratulated her, and asked her when she wanted me to take the pictures. She never answered me until a couple days ago and asked if next weekend was okay. I took a little while to think of a response and ended up calling her to explain that the baby is too old now to safely do a newborn shoot, but that I would be happy to come and take some family photos, and maybe do a 1 month mini session with a couple cute outfits. She complained that I should still do the newborn poses since that’s what I told her I would do before the baby was born, and that she wanted pictures of her baby like I took of her sisters baby. I said again that I wasn’t comfortable doing something that wouldn’t be safe for the baby; and that I took the pictures of her sisters baby when it was 4 days old, not 4 weeks old, that the situation would be different if the baby was still actually a newborn. So AITA for not doing a newborn photo shoot with a baby that’s too old? submitted by /u/AnonAnonAnonimoose to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

How long did your baby wear ‘newborn’ sized clothes?
FTM. Really have no idea how many newborn sized outfits to buy. Some friends said to not waste money while others say they had to go back and buy more bc they didn’t have enough. submitted by /u/mauiaspen to r/BabyBumps [link] [comments]

Came across this photo with of Kylie and newborn Stormi... it’s probably my favourite photo I’ve ever seen of Kylie! She looks like any average new young mom. No fancy makeup, crazy outfit or over the top editing. Just a candid content moment of her and her new baby.

Can we have a moment of silence for all the adorable outfits our newborns never wore?
I know, the only outfit a newborn usually wears is a zippered, footie pajama. Yes, the ones with snaps are the ones with the best prints, but those snaps are not night friendly. But I love thrift stores! And I have this whole drawer full of Hanna Andersen, Zumpano, Tea and other top tiers. Each piece cost like $4. How was I not gonna? Now, I'm sorting through the drawer and kicking myself for not being more proactive about putting my daughter in something other than polartec zippered footies. submitted by /u/OhGoOnYou to r/beyondthebump [link] [comments]
