Hotel Gym (Rome, Italy) Leg Day and No Equipment - Dumbell Workout. Did My Best. Open To Suggestions! F50+
I did my best at a hotel gym with just a few light dumbells, 2 treadmills, and stationary bike and some ingenuity from someone who has not done a workout like this in more than 20 years. As an example, my sumo squats are 125lbs working set...I had to settle for 40lbs. But we increased the reps, limited rest time and got a relatively good workout. It can be done, just have to apply the determination to do it! Open to suggestions for other movements being that I have my 2nd lower body routine in 2 days. submitted by /u/1970sFit to r/WorkoutRoutines [link] [comments]

Do home workouts really work if you don’t have equipment?
I’m 35 with two kids and a full time job so I don’t see me getting to the gym anytime soon. I’ve been trying to get back into shape but just don’t have the time due to work and family stuff and always feeling tired. I’ve been contemplating doing everything I need at home but no equipment. For those of you who have been doing workouts at home for a while, did you see any results? submitted by /u/Impossible_Quiet_774 to r/WeightLossAdvice [link] [comments]

Biggest differences I noticed between gym culture in the US and Mumbai
Fair warning: this ended up longer than I expected but I think the comparison is interesting if you’d like to know some genuine cultural differences. For context: I lifted for about 3 years in the US while studying. Mostly at the college gym, but also Planet Fitness and a Gold’s Gym when I was in Texas. Recently moved back to Mumbai and joined a gym here. It’s a solid place (around 35k/year), almost the same cost, but the vibe difference is kinda interesting. Some things I noticed: 1. Content creation in gyms In the US gyms I went to there were tons of insanely fit people. Like legit jacked dudes, college athletes, tall model-looking guys etc. But almost nobody was filming content. People just came in, headphones on, did their lifts, maybe chatted with a friend, then left. Here in Mumbai I see way more filming. Reels, posing in the mirrors, tripod setups in the squat rack area, bathroom pump pics etc. Not saying it’s good or bad btw, just something I noticed. 2. Price vs facilities This one surprised me the most. My university gym in the US was honestly insane: huge lifting floors Hammer Strength + Life Fitness everywhere massive cardio rooms swimming pool steam + sauna indoor running track basketball courts Planet Fitness was like $30/month and still clean and well equipped. In Mumbai my gym is decent but obviously nowhere near that scale. Made me realize how crazy some US gyms actually are. 3. People actually follow programs In US gyms I noticed a lot more people following structured routines. Like they’d have a notebook or app open, track sets, progressive overload etc. Here I still see a lot of random workouts. Like chest + random curls + some machines. 4. Trainers US gyms: trainers usually leave you alone unless you hire them. Here: trainers constantly trying to sell PT packages. Or worse: never help you with advice and stick to the chicks lol, my trainers are awesome but they only give free advice to the girls. 5. Equipment usage This might just be my gym but in the US people were big on compound lifts: Squats, deadlifts, bench, racks always busy. Here machines seem way more popular. I’m part of that too I only use the smith almost no compounds cause im worried for injury and mostly focus on hypertrophy vs strength. 6. Gym etiquette In the US people were weirdly strict about things like: re-racking weights not hogging equipment not blocking space cleaning equipment with a disinfectant wipe (regardless of covid), and here? Even in the elite gyms ive seen uncle’s leave sweaty ass and back marks. Also noticed, no one asks before using a side of the cable, if i'm in rest, theyll come and switch attachments like nothing, again, not complaining cause i understand the space and time issues but some politness would go a long way. 7. AC and comfort Indian gyms win here ngl. Most gyms in India blast the AC which is amazing in Mumbai heat. Some US gyms in summer felt like a sauna. Not saying one culture is better btw, just interesting differences I noticed. Curious if anyone else here has trained in gyms outside India. What differences did you notice? Also: do people here prefer the “train quietly and leave” gym vibe or the more social gym vibe? tl;dr: Trained in US gyms for 4 years (college gym, Planet Fitness, Gold’s). Moved back to Mumbai and noticed big differences in filming culture, pricing vs facilities, training style, trainers, and gym etiquette. submitted by /u/Humble_Cockroach_244 to r/Fitness_India [link] [comments]

AITAH for snapping at a gym trainer who thought I was “sneakily watching” her and almost slapping her?
so I go to this gym regularly and I mind my business, headphones on, doing my sets. yesterday I was doing shoulder exercises on one of the machines and it’s placed near this open area where trainers usually do assisted stretches and massages. so basically, if I’m facing forward on the machine, that area is just there in my line of sight. there’s this female trainer who was working with her client in that open space, doing hands on stretches. every time I rest between sets, I just zone out. like completely blank, staring forward, trying to breathe because shoulder day is no joke. but I kept noticing she was looking at me. not casual looking. more like suspicious looking. I caught her rolling her eyes at me at one point. it started making me self conscious because the machine literally faces that direction, and I’m not going to twist my neck to stare at a wall just to make her comfortable. after my last set, I was about to leave when she stopped me. she goes, can I ask why you keep looking over here while I’m working with my client? I said, I’m not. I’m literally just using the shoulder machine. she said it’s inappropriate, you keep staring while I’m doing hands on work. and that annoyed me because the machine is right there and that’s just where it faces. I told her I’m resting between sets, I’m not watching you. she said, well it feels like you are. so I said not everything is about you. I’m zoning out between reps, trust me. she said I don’t have to get defensive. I said you approached me with an accusation, what do you expect? she kept implying I was being weird, so I finally said I have a boyfriend, I’m gay, you are not on my radar. maybe that was unnecessary, but I was frustrated. she stepped closer and I instinctively raised my hand because she got in my space. I didn’t slap her, but I was heated. now I’m wondering if I was the asshole for snapping. I genuinely was not looking at her. the machine literally faces that area and I’m not about to turn my whole body just to avoid existing. so, aitah? edit hi, this is my first time posting something this personal here and honestly my boyfriend suggested I ask for outside opinions because I was overthinking it. for the people asking, I’m 25, male, and gay. the trainer is a woman. I’m not sure about her exact age, but she looks late 30s to early 40s. no shade at all, just answering the question. some comments asked why I kept looking in their direction if I noticed her rolling her eyes. it’s because they were literally 5 to 6 steps in front of the shoulder machine I was using. the machine faces that open area where they do stretches and massages, so when I rest between sets and zone out, I’m automatically facing that direction. when I zone out, I’m not actively staring at someone. I literally look at a blank space or just whatever is in front of me while trying to breathe. that area just happens to be in my line of sight. I don’t know if that makes sense, but that’s genuinely how I work out. this is also why I get anxious in gym spaces, especially since I just signed up at this new gym and I don’t really know anyone there. the only person I kinda know is another female trainer named Ories who helped me sign my contract. she definitely knows I’m gay because of how we were bantering during sign up. she was really friendly. I’m planning to talk to Ories about what happened and possibly bring it up to management like some of you suggested, since I’m new there and don’t want any weird tension. thank you to everyone who gave actual advice. I’ll update once I talk to management and see what they say. I have read all your comments and thank you to everyone who said NTA. I appreciate the reassurance because I was honestly spiraling after it happened. For those asking why I raised my hand, she approached me and confronted me. She stepped into my space while accusing me. What was I supposed to do, just stay quiet about it? Ofc not. All my life I have been the quiet one. I let things slide. I avoid conflict. And now that I am learning to stand my ground and actually speak up for myself, suddenly I am the bad guy for defending myself? She took her time to walk up to me and accuse me of being inappropriate. She did not ask neutrally. She did not clarify politely. She accused me. That already crossed a boundary. Then she stepped closer while we were arguing. I reacted instinctively because I felt cornered. And for those who keep saying I should not hit a woman, no. Just no. This is not about gender. This is about someone confronting and disrespecting me when I did nothing wrong. I did not touch her. I did not hit her. But do not twist this into some narrative where I am automatically wrong because she is a woman. Respect goes both ways. Boundaries go both ways. I am going to talk to management later today and handle this properly. I just needed to clarify that defending myself does not automatically make me the villain. UPDATE sorry for the late update. what happened next was honestly such a mess. I still went to the gym because I’m not about to stop my routine over this. when I walked into the locker room and was putting my stuff away, one of the male trainers walked behind me and I swear I heard him say “perv” in a way that sounded like he tried to cover it with a cough. I don’t even know if it was about me because the locker room was full of people showering and getting ready. but with everything that happened, of course it got into my head. I ignored it and continued my workout. while working out, I felt like people were looking at me. I don’t know if I was just paranoid because of the issue or if they actually were. but I kept remembering what my friends told me, that no one in the gym cares, everyone is too busy focusing on themselves. so I pushed through and finished my workout. two hours. after that, I went to the front desk and asked for Ories like you guys suggested. I told her everything. she listened and was very calm. then she said, don’t worry, I already know. Rose reported it to management. honestly I wasn’t shocked. I knew she would. Ories told me she believes me and went to get the manager. apparently the manager was already talking to Rose. they asked me to come into the office so we could talk privately. in the office, Rose kept insisting I was staring and that I was being inappropriate. she straight up called me a pervert. I explained again that I was already using the machine before she and her client positioned themselves in front of me. I said I had been there for 10 minutes before they even started stretching there. she kept giving me intimidating looks and then pointed at me and said, just admit you liked what you saw. us stretching our legs. of course you would like it. I literally laughed. like actually laughed. I looked at Ories and even she was smiling because it was getting ridiculous. I said, this is honestly insane. I already told you I’m gay. for the love of god, you are not my type and never have been. I was not interested, I was not entertained, I was trying to survive shoulder day. she kept going on and on trying to justify that I was a pervert. the manager was quiet, probably trying to assess everything. then the manager asked Rose, why didn’t you choose another area? it wasn’t busy that day. Rose said she didn’t like the other areas because they were dim and the spot she chose had better lighting and a mirror. I mean, sure, some areas are dimmer. but that’s not even the point. then Rose said something that honestly shocked me. she asked, how can you prove you’re gay? me and Ories just looked at each other like is this really happening? I pulled out my phone and showed her a picture of me and my boyfriend, him kissing my cheek. I said, this enough for you? she said, that could just be your friend. at that point I just wanted it over with. I showed her another photo of me and my boyfriend in bed, just hugging, clearly intimate but not inappropriate. I said, how about this? she looked stunned. then suddenly she started crying, face down on the table. I genuinely did not understand what was happening anymore. she said, I’m just wondering why you would look at us. I said, if you’re that worried about people possibly glancing in your direction in a public gym, maybe train in a private studio. you can’t control where other people’s eyes rest when they’re literally using equipment in front of you. I stood up and told the manager, I think we’re done here. thanked her for her time. Ories walked me out. afterwards, Ories told me this apparently isn’t the first time Rose has confronted people like this. man, woman, anyone. if she feels like someone looked in her direction, she takes it personally. apparently the manager can’t just kick her out because they’re friends. so yeah. that’s where we’re at. I honestly feel exhausted. but at least I stood up for myself. submitted by /u/Kindly_Ad_3762 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

I'm a personal trainer at a 24-hour gym. I found out why the night shift clients lose weight so fast.
January is the month of lies. If you’ve worked in the fitness industry as long as I have, you eventually learn to hate the calendar. January 2nd marks the beginning of the migration of repentant souls. They arrive in schools, wearing lycra clothes that still smell like the store, carrying colorful water bottles, fueled by the fragile determination of someone who spent three weeks stuffing their face with holiday roast and sides and now wants a pop star’s body before Carnival. We call this "Project Summer." I call it "Project Desperation." My name is Danilo. I’m a personal trainer and floor instructor at IronFit 24h, one of those low-cost gym chains that have spread through São Paulo like a fungal plague. Black walls, neon yellow lights, electronic music played too loud, and membership fees that are way too cheap. I work the shift nobody wants: midnight to six in the morning. It’s a lonely shift. The crowd at that hour is usually made up of insomniacs, ER doctors, cops, and a few antisocial meatheads who hate sharing equipment. The sound of weight plates clanking echoes in the empty warehouse like gunshots. The smell is a mix of rubber, citrus disinfectant, and cold sweat. But this specific January, something was different. It started with Mariana. Mariana had been a regular student on my shift for about six months. A nurse, thirty-something, slightly overweight. She was always nice, the type who brings coffee for the instructor and chats about TV shows between sets on the leg press. Her goal was to lose 5kg (about 11 lbs). A healthy, realistic goal. When I came back from my New Year’s break on January 3rd, Mariana was there. It was 3:15 AM. I was at the front desk, fighting off sleep, when she walked in. I almost didn’t recognize her. In less than two weeks, Mariana looked like she had lost 10 or 15 kilos (20-30 lbs). Her workout clothes, once tight, now hung off her body like empty sacks. Her face was gaunt, her cheekbones protruding like blades beneath pale skin. There were deep, purple circles around eyes that looked glazed over, focused on nothing. "Mariana?" I called out, stepping out from behind the counter. "Wow, long time no see. You look... different." She didn’t smile. The old Mariana would have made a joke about cutting carbs. But this Mariana just turned her head slowly in my direction, like a robot with rusted gears. "Need to train," she whispered. Her voice was hoarse, dry. "Sure. But... are you okay? You’re pale." "Spinning Room," she said, ignoring my question. "Kleber said the Spinning Room is closed for maintenance." Kleber was the unit manager. A guy who looked like he was assembled from Lego pieces made of meat and steroids. Teeth too white, a fake orange tan, and an aggressive corporate energy that made me nauseous. He was never at the gym at dawn; his shift was strictly 9-to-5. "Is Kleber here?" I asked, confused. Mariana didn’t answer. She marched toward the back of the gym, where the bike room was located. It was a closed room with soundproofing and glass windows which, I noticed now, had been covered with brown butcher paper from the inside. "Maintenance," read a crooked sign on the door. Mariana typed a code into the keypad on the door. The light turned green. She went in. A blast of hot air escaped the room before the door closed. Hot and humid. And with a strange smell. It didn’t smell like sweat. I went back to the counter, uneasy. Over the next few nights, the pattern repeated. And it got worse. It wasn’t just Mariana. I started noticing a group. There were about ten of them. Men and women, varying ages, but they all shared the same cadaverous aesthetic. Gray skin, sudden and excessive thinness, trembling hands, and that dead-fish stare. They always arrived between 3:00 and 3:30 AM. They didn’t speak to me. They didn’t use their fingerprint at the turnstile (which was against the rules, but the system seemed to release them automatically). They went straight to the Spinning Room, typed in the password, and disappeared inside for exactly one hour. None of them touched the weights. None of them drank water. They walked in, and they crawled out, leaning on the walls, soaked in a sweat that looked oily. I tried to talk to Kleber at the shift change, at 6:00 AM. "Kleber, what’s going on in the bike room?" I asked, grabbing my backpack. "The night crew is using it, but the sign says maintenance. And Mariana... man, she’s sick. She lost weight way too fast." Kleber was drinking his whey protein, scrolling on his phone. He didn’t even look up. "It’s a high-performance group, Danilo. New franchise protocol. Metabolic HIIT. Elite stuff. Don’t worry about it. They pay for a Black Diamond plan." "But they look like crack addicts, Kleber. Seriously. Their skin is melting off. And what is that smell?" Kleber finally looked at me. The white smile vanished. His eyes went cold. "Are you a doctor, Danilo?" "No, I’m a physical trainer." "Then train physiques and leave the management to me. If they get sick, they signed a liability waiver. Your job is to watch the weight room and make sure no one steals the dumbbells. The bike room is rented for a private project. Don’t meddle, stay in your lane." He patted my shoulder. A pat that was a little too hard. " The job market is tough, Danilo. Don’t lose your job over curiosity." I went home, but I couldn’t sleep. The image of Mariana haunted me. I knew what drugs did. I’ve seen people abuse diuretics, T3, Clenbuterol. But this was different. They weren’t just drying out fat. They looked like they were being consumed from the inside out. Last night, I decided I wasn’t going to ignore it anymore. It was 3:40 AM. The "Zombie Group," as I’d mentally nicknamed them, had been inside the Spinning Room for twenty minutes. The gym was empty, except for them and me. I went to the door. I pressed my ear against the glass covered by the brown paper. The soundproofing was good, but not perfect. I could hear the hum of the bikes spinning. But I didn’t hear music. Spinning classes have loud music, shouting, motivation. In there, the only human sound was... moaning. Muffled screams of pain. Crying. And someone vomiting. I tried the handle. Locked. I looked at the keypad. Four digits. I remembered the gym’s anniversary. Nothing. I tried today’s date. Nothing. Then I remembered Kleber’s ego. He had a tattoo on his arm: 1985. The year he was born. I typed 1-9-8-5. The light turned green. I took a deep breath, pulled my shirt up to cover my nose, and opened the door. The heat hit me like a physical punch. The temperature inside must have been bordering on 50°C (122°F). The air was thick, unbreathable, saturated with humidity and that chemical smell of rotten vinegar mixed with boiled meat. The room was dim, lit only by red emergency lights along the baseboards. There were twelve bikes. All occupied. But they weren’t just pedaling. Mariana was on the front bike. Strapped to the machine. There were velcro straps binding her wrists to the handlebars and her feet to the pedals. She was pedaling at a frantic, inhuman pace. Her legs were spinning so fast they were a blur. But she wasn’t doing it voluntarily. Her bike—and the others—were connected to an external motor. The motor was forcing the pedals to turn. If she stopped applying force, her legs would be snapped by the mechanical movement. She had to keep up with the machine’s rhythm to avoid having her bones ground to dust. But the worst part wasn’t the forced movement. The worst part was the masks. Every student was wearing a transparent oxygen mask, connected by tubes that went up to the ceiling, feeding into the AC vents. Inside the masks, a yellowish gas was being pumped in. Mariana looked at me when I entered. Her eyes were red with burst blood vessels. Her skin glistened with sweat, but also with blisters. Small burn blisters covered her arms. She tried to scream, but the mask muffled the sound. She was cooking. Literally. "My God!" I shouted, running to her bike. I tried to undo the velcro. They were locked with industrial zip ties. I looked at the bike’s panel. There was no stop button. The wiring went straight into the wall. The other students didn’t even look at me. Some seemed passed out, heads hanging low, but their legs kept spinning, spinning, spinning, driven by the motor, tearing muscles and ligaments in unconscious bodies. "What the fuck are you doing here?" The voice came from the back of the room, from the shadows. Kleber was there. He was wearing a white hazmat suit and a professional gas mask. He was holding a tablet. "Turn this off!" I screamed, coughing from the heat and the chemical smell. "You’re killing them! Mariana is burning up with fever!" Kleber walked calmly toward me. He looked huge in that suit. "They’re not dying, Danilo. They’re metabolizing. Do you know what DNP is? 2,4-Dinitrophenol?" He pointed to the tubes in the ceiling. "It’s an industrial compound. Used to make explosives in World War I. The workers who handled it lost weight until they vanished. It uncouples oxidative phosphorylation. Basically? It makes the cell stop storing energy and turn everything into heat. Fat turns into fire." "This is poison!" I tried to lunge at him, but the heat was making me dizzy. My legs felt like lead. "It’s efficiency!" Kleber shouted, his voice muffled by the mask. "They signed the contract, Danilo! They wanted to lose 10 kilos in a week. They begged for this. I’m just giving them what they asked for. The gas raises their basal body temperature to 40 degrees. They burn 5,000 calories an hour sitting there. Yes, it’s uncomfortable. Yes, it cooks the internal organs a little bit. But look at her!" He pointed to a woman in the second row. She was skeletal. "She walked in here wearing a size 14 on Monday. Today is Friday and she’s a size 4. Her 'Project Summer' is done. Who cares if she needs dialysis for the rest of her life? She’ll look skinny in a bikini!" "You’re sick!" I tried to punch him. It was a mistake. I had been breathing that toxic air for two minutes. My strength was gone. My punch was slow, pathetic. Kleber just grabbed my arm and shoved me. I fell onto the rubber floor. The floor was hot. It burned my hand. I saw Mariana looking at me. A tear of blood ran down under her mask. She mouthed something. I read her lips: "Kill me." I stood up, stumbling, and ran for the door. I needed to call the police. I needed to get out of that oven. I grabbed the handle. Locked. "The session isn’t over, Danilo," Kleber said, typing something on the tablet. "The locks are automatic. They only open when the thermal cycle ends. Thirty minutes left." I heard a mechanical click come from the ceiling. The hissing of the gas got louder. "And since you’re here... and you’ve seen the franchise’s trade secret... I think you need a workout too. You’ve been looking a little bloated, Danilo. Too much beer over the holidays?" I felt my throat close up. The air was turning yellow. Kleber walked toward me. He wasn’t going to put me on a bike. He didn’t need to. Just being in that room was enough. "DNP in gaseous form is absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes," Kleber explained, as if giving a biomechanics lecture. "Without the mask, you’ll absorb a lethal dose in... let’s say, ten minutes. Your temperature will rise to 42 degrees. Your proteins will denature. Your brain will cook inside your skull. It’s a quick death, but... hot." I ran to the windows covered with brown paper. I pounded on the glass. Double tempered glass. Unbreakable without a hammer. I screamed for help. But who would hear? The gym was empty. The soundproofing was perfect. Kleber sat on a stool in the corner, crossed his legs, and kept monitoring the data on the tablet. "Save your oxygen, Danilo. The more you move, the hotter you get." I felt sweat break out on my forehead. It wasn’t normal sweat. It was a flood. My shirt was soaked in seconds. My heart started beating out of rhythm. I felt a burning in my stomach, as if I had swallowed hot coals. My vision began to blur, yellowing at the edges. I looked at Mariana. She had passed out, but her legs kept spinning, spinning, spinning, driven by the relentless motor. I heard a dry snap — CRACK. Her knee had broken. The bone tore through the skin, white and shiny, but the machine kept forcing her leg to turn, grinding the joint with every rotation. Kleber didn’t even look. I fell to my knees. The floor was boiling. I tried to crawl to the door. My skin was red, throbbing. I could feel my blood bubbling in my veins. It felt like being inside a giant microwave. "Twenty minutes left," Kleber’s voice sounded distant, metallic. "Hang in there. Think of the results. Think about how shredded you’ll look in the coffin." My eyes are swelling. I think my tears are evaporating before they fall. I’m writing this on my phone’s notes app, with fingers slippery from sweat and the grease leaking from my pores. The battery is dying. The phone is overheating too. If anyone finds this phone... if anyone finds what’s left of us... Don’t believe the official report. They’ll say it was a fire. They’ll say it was a short circuit in the sauna. It wasn’t. It was Project Summer. Kleber is standing up now. He’s coming toward me with a syringe. "To speed up the process," he says. I’m so hot. I just wanted the air conditioning to work. Mariana stopped moving. The machine keeps spinning her legs, but her head has fallen back. Her mask is full of black vomit. Kleber is smiling. It’s January. It’s the month of "Project Summer." It’s the month... of lies. submitted by /u/davidherick to r/stories [link] [comments]

[New Update]: AITAH for telling a woman at the gym that she's embarrassing herself?
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/TrainingDistance4448 Originally posted to r/AITAH Previous BoRUs: #1 [New Update]: AITAH for telling a woman at the gym that she's embarrassing herself? NEW UPDATE MARKED WITH ---- Thanks to u/queenlegolas for suggesting this BoRU Trigger Warnings: emotional manipulation, obsessive behavior, stalking, racism, falsifying accusations Mood Spoilers: scary and frustrating RECAP Original Post: June 2, 2025 I go to the gym a lot. About sixish months ago I noticed a woman I'll call Andrea. That's not her name, but it will be for the rest of this post. I don't know if Andrea started going to the gym six months ago or if that's just when I noticed her. Full disclosure, I spoke to her first, but I had no way of knowing what the result would be. A lot of the machines at this gym have little entertainment systems attached to them that can access local channels. I got on a treadmill and realized the TV on the treadmill wasn't working. Andrea was walking past and I said "hey, do you know if there's an issue with the cable? This TV isn't working, but I don't know if it's just this one or all of them." She said the same thing happened to her on a different machine. I thanked her. That was the whole interaction. A week later she asked me for some electrolyte powder for her water. I said I didn't have any. She was cool with that and asked me how long I'd been coming to the gym and what I did for work. I answered and returned her questions. She said she was new to the area and worked in private security. We had a few more chill conversations after that. Six weeks ago she asked me out. For reasons I won't get into here, I wasn't interested. I declined. She said not to worry about things being awkward at the gym if we don't work out. I said that wasn't the issue, just not looking to date right now. She kept talking to me, and at first I kept talking to her, but I started to think something might be wrong, and I started avoiding her. Two weeks ago she walked up to me while I was on a machine with only one way to properly dismount that involved stepping into whete she was standing. She asked if I was avoiding her. I said I was and apologized. I said I just don't want to date right now. She said I don't have to avoid her to not date her. I said okay. I kept avoiding her though. Tonight while I was working out she confronted me again about avoiding her. I had a bad day and told her to leave me alone. She asked why I'm being such a prick, and I said because I wanted her to leave me alone. I then said that she was embarrassing herself and needs to stop. She put her foot on top of the weights, and I thought she was going to press down on them, so I let go of the bar very quickly, causing the weights to slam and make a loud noise. Several people looked over. She said "now who's embarrassing himself?" and walked away. Did I go to far by saying that? Do I owe her an apology? Update: I went in early this morning for a run and told the front desk staff about Andrea putting her foot on the weights. They said they would talk to her. Then, after work, I went in again for a regular workout. I was working on my legs when she walked up to my machine. The first thing she did was apologize about the weights. I don't know if someone talked to her or if that was of her own initiative. I accepted her apology and apologized for saying she was embarrassing herself. She said she forgave me, but if I wanted to really make it up to her I could buy her a drink and she would buy me one too to make up for the weights. I said maybe we should buy our own drinks (meaning separately at different places and times) and she misunderstood me and asked when and where. I told her I meant that I didn't want to go out with her. She said this wouldn't be a date but a reset for our friendship. I said I didn't want to be friends. She said I was being a douche and asked what my problem is. I said the weight incident made me uncomfortable, and I would rather us just give each other space. She then asked me if my problem with her is that she's Hispanic. I was so taken aback. I didn't even know she was until she said that. I said no, that she just makes me uncomfortable. She wanted me to explain what about her made me uncomfortable, and I tried to do so, but she argued with every point I made. I got frustrated and told her to just stay away from me. She said fine and that I have a lot of maturing to do. Then she walked away. I'm hoping that's the end of it. Relevant Comments OOP on why he doesn't want to get in a relationship OOP: She's just not my type. Even if she was, I don't want to get into a relationship right now. My last relationship lasted three years, and I need to remember how to be single before I hop right back into another relationship. Commenter 1: "Something might be wrong" what do you mean? OOP: I don't know how to explain it. I almost felt like she was having a completely different conversation with me than I was having with her. She seemed inappropriately enthusiastic. That's the best way I can think to say it. Downvoted Commenter: Dude, she just moved into the area, probably lonely and doesn't know anyone I'm guessing, did she ask you out on like a friend hang out type deal or was it a proper date? OOP: It was a date. She asked me if I wanted to get a drink with her sometime, and when I declined she said I don't need to worry about things being awkward at the gym if we "don't work out" romantically, and I had to decline a second time. Commenter 2: Good for you on taking a breather. NTA by the way. She either has severe mental health issues or hasn't been socialized properly. No "normal" person would ever put you in that position. I make every excuse I can when I'm not interested in someone, but when someone can't take a hint you do eventually have to disregard their feelings. I mean, think about it. She disregarded yours. OOP: That is a good way to think about it. I hadn't considered that part. Thank you. Commenter 3: I wouldn't go to the police RN because you've only just told her to leave you alone. But if gym management doesn't stop it then yeah I would go to the police. Harassment is harassment. If you were a girl and she was a guy who worked in security who also put their foot on your equipment people would be really concerned- rightly so. OOP: That's kind of a different situation. I have at least sixty pounds on her. It's not like she can follow me to my car and beat me up one night. What she did was dangerous and creepy, but what could she really do that's worse? Maybe drop a weight on my toe, but I can't think of anything else. It's not like she knows where I live.   Update #1: June 8, 2025 (six days later) Summary of previous post (skip this paragraph if you read that post): A woman at my gym, Andrea (fake name) asked me out after some normal not at all romantic interactions. I turned her down and shortly after I stated getting a weird vibe from her and started avoiding her. She confronted me about avoiding her twice, and the second time I said she was embarrassing herself, after which she put her foot on the weight stack of the machine I was using, causing me to let go of the bar really quickly and slam the weights. I initially thought I was the asshole for my rude comment, and most posters said I actually under reacted and should talk to gym management, which I did, after which Andrea confronted me again and asked me out again. I turned her down, we argued briefly and she said I needed to grow up. Actual Update: Andrea is banned from the gym! I was running on the treadmill and watching TV. She came up to talk to me, and I ignored her, staring at the TV. She raised her voice and I continued to ignore her. She reached out and pulled the safety tab out of the treadmill (the one you connect to your wrist so the treadmill stops if you fall), causing the treadmill to come to a sudden stop. I tripped and fell onto the controls and TV, scratching my chin on the top of the screen. I went to the front desk with Andrea following me. I told them what she did. She kept trying to interrupt me and talk over me, but the woman at the front desk told her to be quiet and wait her turn. I told her Andrea pulled out the safety tab while I was running and injured me. The woman at the front desk then asked Andrea what happened. Andrea said I was "staring into the middle distance" like I was in some kind of "fuage state" and she thought I was having a medical episode so she pulled the tab. The woman at the front desk asked for her membership card. Andrea didn't want to give it to her, but the woman at the front desk said if she didn't she would ban her. Andrea gave her the card and the woman at the front desk said to leave and she was suspended for a month. Andrea objected and got into an argument with the woman at the front desk that escalated into Andrea calling the woman an N word B word. So she was banned permanently. I hesitate to call that a happy ending because the poor gym employee had to put up with racial harassment, but I won't deny getting to watch her cut up Andrea's membership card felt good. Relevant Comments Commenter 1: Still NTA. Andrea proved herself to be crazy, with a side of racist. OOP: And the irony is that SHE accused ME of being racist for not wanting to date her. Commenter 2: I’m guessing she doesn’t get told No very often. I’m glad it had a safe ending OOP: Thank you. I am too. Now that it's all over I'm starting to process it. The whole thing was so crazy. My heart rate is up higher than it ever gets when I run, which is nuts. Commenter 3: Hmm. If you see her again and she acts creepy it’s worthy of reporting to police. Just pay attention to your surroundings in case she stalks you OOP: She's banned from the gym, so I doubt I'll see her again. She doesn't know where I work or live. OOP on his race and Andrea's race OOP: She said she's Hispanic. I'm not going to tell you what race I am. Downvoted Commenter: Seriously, this is honestly your response. If so, you aren’t actually into women. You may not know it yet, but you aren’t. It’s a completely normal question for a person to ask is this crazed psycho who is trying to date you is Hot or not. Every straight male is thinking the exact same thing. OOP: I date women. I recently left a three year relationship with a woman, and she could tell you that I definitely like women. I just don't think women are defined solely by their appearance. I'll give you an example. I have this friend I grew up with. She is objectively very beautiful. Many men (and women) have told her so. While I can see that she is beautiful, the first thing I think when I see her is "that's my friend that I love dearly" not "that's an attractive woman that's probably good at sex." I have never been attracted to her because we treat each other like siblings. Conversely, in this situation, even if Andrea was my type (which she isn't) and I was looking to get into another relationship (which I'm not right now) it still wouldn't matter because her behavior towards me was so off-putting. She could look like Allyson Hannigan (an actress I think is particularly attractive) and it wouldn't matter because I don't date women that put people in physical danger when they're upset. Commenter 4: INFO: Are you okay from the injury? NTA, but just be careful. I’ve had jarring injuries while running from having to unexpectedly stop on a dime, and, while it felt okay at the time, it caused a stability-related injury next workout. OOP: I'm okay. It's just a scratch.   Update #2: June 12, 2025 (four days later) Sorry for the incomprehensible post. I posted this last night when I was drunk. I'll rewrite it to explain what happened. Last night I went to a bar near my apartment to meet up with some friends. The three of us were drinking and having a good time when Andrea walked up. I never saw her enter the bar. I only noticed her when she was in front of us. She greeted me and said it was good to see me and leaned in to try to kiss me. I pushed her away from me and she fell, but one of my friends caught her. She started yelling and asking what the fuck is wrong with me. I told her to stay away from me and not come any closer. She asked if I was embarrassed of her and didn't want my friends to see her. I said this is the third time you've tried to assault me and I want you to stay away from me. At that point the bouncer showed up to ask what was going on. Andrea said I pushed her. I tried to explain that she tried to kiss me and is stalking me, but I was drunk and not doing a great job. My friends also tried to explain that I was innocent, but they were also drunk. Security kicked me out of the bar. My friends walked me home. I am definitely going to try to get a restraining order. This has gone way too far. Top Comments Commenter 1: she is literally stalking you and it's going to just get worse. if she tries to follow you again PLEASE call the police. ask your gym for video footage of andrea purposely sabotaging your workouts, purposely trying to injure you and following you around. this situation is insane and escalating from following you around the gym to full on intruding into your personal life. does she have any of your social media? if so, definitely block her, as clearly she's starting to learn your patterns and outside hobbies. be safe!! Commenter 2: Might be a stretch but you should inform your workplace that you have a woman harassing you in retaliation for being rejected and banned from the gym after she escalated to violent and dangerous behaviour. If she found you in a bar (assuming it wasn’t a coincidence) then she can find out where you work and try to sabotage your job and reputation. And go to the police. Commenter 3: Now that it’s gone beyond the gym, you need to start the process of getting a restraining order. She’s unhinged as fuck, you need to get the law on your side. Go back to the bar on a different night and ask for the manager. Explain the situation and the context - make sure to mention that you’re in the process of taking out a restraining order against her for stalking and harassment. Try and clear your name, you were with friends and a woman walked in and immediately created a scene - but YOU were kicked out?? Nah I’d be fighting that, that’s some bullshit.   ----NEW UPDATE---- Update #3: December 20, 2025 (over six months later) Update: Andrea the Gym Nut I doubt anyone remembers this, and you can check my profile for context if you want, but I saw this subreddit while scrolling and remembered the password for my throwaway account. So if there is anyone out there that has been wondering about Andrea the Gym Nut, here's the answer. I did get a restraining order against Andrea as many suggested. It wasn't super effective. If I saw her and called the police she would usually be gone by the time they arrived. A couple officers gave me a hard time about calling. They thought I was wasting their time because I'm a man and she's a woman. The stress started to impact my job performance. My boss was sympathetic, but my coworkers started to get annoyed with me. Also the fact that Andrea had shown up at work was a huge liability for us. I saw the writing on the wall and knew I was going to be fired soon. I did what I had been putting off for a long time. I moved back home and decided to go back to school. It was hard at first. The situation with "Andrea" was more traumatic than I had been able to acknowledge to myself. I tried therapy, and the first therapist thought my issue was that I was too closed off and didn't want to give what sounded like a nice young woman a chance. So that sucked. I swore off therapy after that, but eventually my friends convinced me to give it another try, and I found a great therapist who has helped me a lot. My family wasn't particularly supportive at first, but they eventually came around (somewhat). My friends have been great this whole time, and they're the only reason I didn't have a meltdown. I also got back together with my high school girlfriend! I know, ironic. That situation isn't all sunshine and roses either right now, but we're working on it. I'll be starting school again at the beginning of the spring semester. All in all, I'm okay. I'm not great, but I'm okay. But who cares about that, right? You guys want to know about Andrea. What happened to Andrea? I have stayed as far away from her as possible, but my more tech savvy friend has been keeping tabs on her online presence in case she posts anything that might mean she's found out where I moved or had plans to do something to me. He usually doesn't update me unless it's something safety critical, but three weeks ago he told me I might feel safer knowing that Andrea is engaged! So she probably won't be stalking me in the future. I am amazed by this turn of events. There really is someone for everyone, even crazy stalkers. So that's the update. No prison for Andrea, only matrimony, which is its own kind of prison, in a way (just kidding). That's all folks! Relevant Comments Commenter 1: I totally remember this post! Wow, I find myself actually feeling bad for the idiot who's engaged to such a psycho. I am really glad, however, that you are doing so well! It's sad that you were forcing that situation, but it seems like it's worked out as well as could possibly be expected and even better! Congratulations and I hope everything continues to go well for you. OOP: Thank you, I appreciate that. It was really rough for a while, but I think I'm coming out of the other end of the tunnel now. As for Andrea's husband-to-be, maybe they're perfect for each other. Who knows? Commenter 2: Man people failed you every step of the way. Happy you got safe honey. OOP: Thanks. They really did! But I learned some important lessons.   DO NOT COMMENT IN LINKED POSTS OR MESSAGE OOPs – BoRU Rule #7 THIS IS A REPOST SUB - I AM NOT OOP submitted by /u/Choice_Evidence1983 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

A bunch of things about the mansion that I thought to share
Hi yall, I bought a mansion and I've had a very investigative look around the house to see what kinds of features it comes packed with. I thought I'd make a post about the features so some of you reading know what you're getting into! Just to note, I purchased the Richman Villa, so some of my experiences may be different to yours. BUSINESSES: The mansion comes pre-built with a master control terminal on the upper floor (a computer that let's you access the terminal for any biker business you own, your gunrunning bunker, the nightclub, cargo warehouses, and Hangar cargo). Additionally, there is an option to "boost production" of one of your businesses once per day at the wall mounted screens across your mansion. The feature works by reducing the amount of time it takes for the selected business to convert a unit of supply into a unit of product. The boost has a 24 hour uptime once activated, and once the timer has ran out, you can choose another business to boost. Note that you cannot boost the same business two times in a row. Alternating between your two most profitable businesses is my recommendation to make the most of this feature. GARAGE & PODIUM: The mansion comes with 20 garage spaces, split across two floors, all included in the base package. You have the option to showcase two vehicles from your garage on your driveway, and if you purchased the podium, you can showcase a single car there as well. To do this, go to the garage's vehicle management menu, and scroll to the car you want to move. A button prompt will appear at the bottom of your screen, prompting you to move to driveway or move to podium. This unfortunately doesn't mean that you get any additional space - it just makes the chosen car visible in a different place. ARMOURY ADD-ON: The armoury add-on isn't just a simple weapons workbench, like those you'd find elsewhere in the game. This one works like the Agency Armoury. It allows you to access and purchase almost any weapon from the game (*excluding some exclusive weapons that are only earned through challenges). The armoury also includes any of the weapons currently available from the gun van, as well as armour, and a bench for Mk.II weapon upgrades. There is also a cabinet where you can apply a custom weapon loadout, like you would at a gun safe. ARCADE ADD-ON: The arcade, from what I can tell, is literally just your own personal arcade, with seemingly no other mechanical benefit that I can find. It just gives you access to a little room, and allows you to put your choice of arcade cabinets across the room. There is also a wall mounted screen near the door which lets you buy new arcade machines. VEHICLE WORKSHOP ADD-ON: The vehicle workshop allows you to customise your vehicles. Access the feature by climbing into your vehicle in the garage, and a prompt will appear. You will be able to access any customisation options that are available at a normal Los Santos Customs. NOTE: only GTA+ members will be able to access Benny's Original Motor Works, HSW upgrades, Drift tuning, or Missile Lock on Upgrades from this room. Read the fine print!! YOGA! A Yoga activity is accessible on the roof (at least at the Richman Villa), and by completing it, you get a temporary sprint and swimming speed boost. Have not tested the effect duration yet, but you can definitely feel the speed increase. SECURITY ADD-ON: If you're like me and tired of getting calls from LJT or Agent 14 about your business being raided (despite owning the security upgrades), then I think this might be the solution. Ever since buying the security upgrade, I have not had a single call regarding a business raid. It's pricey, for sure, but I'm so glad it exists. AI VOICES: When customising your mansion, you can choose from three AI assistants. Angel, Haviland, and OG. Your AI assistant's voice can be changed for free by renovating your mansion at the website. Your choice of AI voice is persistent across any and all Mansions that you own - meaning you cannot have a different voice for multiple mansions. PETS: There are little pet houses around the mansion where you can purchase a pet. For the dog kennel, you can choose the breed and fur colour. For the cat house, you only get a choice of fur colour. You can name each pet yourself. It moves around to different spots of the house whenever you return, and can sometimes be pet. I found my cat chilling in the office asleep on a chair, purring. How lovely. STAFF: The mansion comes with a barber and tattoo artist as standard. You can disable their physical presence in the interaction menu, but you will still be able to access their services. The same goes for security staff and staff for the mansion's mini-nightclub. FAST TRAVEL: You can fast travel from any of the wall mounted screens around the mansion. You can choose from any of your apartments, businesses, warehouses, and garages, or also fast travel to any of your service vehicles (acid lab, kosatka, avenger, terrorbyte.) VEHICLES: You can use the wall mounted screen to exit the mansion in any personal vehicle that is present in the garage, but you can also summon, for free, a number of luxury vehicles as follows: Baller ST-D, Cinquemila, Comet S2 Cabrio, Niobe, Shinobi, and Viseris. An option to exit via helicopter is also an option, similarly like the CEO office. AI CONTACT: By calling your AI assistant on your phone while out in the open world, you can also spawn on-demand any of the luxury vehicles listed above. You can also request an automated driverless limo/taxi, which will chaperone you back to your mansion. CUSTOMISATION: You can customise aspects of your mansion in the interaction menu, such as radio audio, decoration, staff presence, and visitor dress code. There are a wide variety of decorations that you can put down all across your house. By default, most of the decorations are set to be plants, and can be swapped out for something else. I'm sure there are more things to find! Let me know if there are things I've missed, or things that are different between the Mansions that people should know! EDIT - EXTRA STUFF YOU GUYS FOUND: In the pool area, there are small sheds of towels and white robes that you can change into. Immersion! You can buy multiple Mansions. Your only limit is your bank account. Some items, like pets and AI voices, are set across all mansions. When buying another mansion, if you already own security elsewhere, adding security to your new one is free. The rest of the upgrades are normal price. There is a dartboard you can play darts with down by the outdoor pool area. You can spawn in your Mansion's unique Volatus and take it to your Hangar to customise it. Workout equipment can be used to increase your character's strength. Your underground vault appears to fill up more and more corresponding to your current wealth. submitted by /u/AshenBloke to r/gtaonline [link] [comments]

AITA for shutting someone down when they tried to talk to me at the gym?
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/iamplayingfavorites Originally posted to r/AmItheAsshole AITA for shutting someone down when they tried to talk to me at the gym? Trigger Warnings: harassment, invasion of privacy Original Post: June 23, 2025 So, for context, I (F32) don’t talk to anyone at my gym outside of saying hi and bye to the people who work there, and having polite etiquette when asking someone if they’re using something/saying thank you when they’re done. This is partially for efficiency, but mostly because I go to the gym stoned AF and I’m in my zone and I don’t want to talk to anyone. Last week, after my work out, I walked over to the food carts by my gym to pick up tacos. While I was there, some guy (M40+) stopped me and said he went to the same gym. I had never noticed him before but he like insisted on walking with me and was talking to me. I was kind of annoyed — just because you see me on the street with my headphones out doesn’t mean it’s an invitation to talk to me. I made small talk and tried to be polite. Got out as quick as I could. So the other day, when I’m at the gym foam rolling out with my headphones in, this guy just beelines to me while I’m trying to avoid eye contact, and squats down next to me to say hi and give me a fist bump. I give him a quick heads up acknowledge him but ignore the fist bump. Avoid eye contact the rest of the time I’m there. And then today, this guy comes into the gym and sees me. I immediately avoid eye contact and he doesn’t come up to me, so I think he gets the picture. But then, when I’m doing leg lifts, he comes over and tries to give me a fist bump. So I take out my headphone and I say “Look man, I don’t want to do this. I’m here to work out, I’m not here to make friends. I don’t want to talk to you, okay.” And he starts to say “I was just saying hi.” And I respond with “Yeah, I get it. Please don’t.” And put my headphone back in and kept working out. I realize anyone who saw this probably thought I was a giant AH. But, I don’t think someone’s need for connection overrides my need to have a good workout. So, AITAH? Verdict: Not the Asshole Relevant Comments Commenter 1: NTA, sounds like your usual type who thinks gyms are a place to pick people up and not in fact a place to work out. I do find it weird that you go to the gym stoned though, kind of like going to the pub first for a few beers. Downvoted Commenter: Yeah using gym equipment, especially weights, when you're on drugs seems crazy dangerous. OOP: I literally started going to the gym 15 years ago because I started getting stoned and listening to music. It’s my happy place and helps me focus on my breathing. But, yeah, I’ve gotten that reaction to it a lot! Commenter 2:NTA. Coming from a father, I hope my daughter has the boundaries you do when she’s grown. You don’t owe anyone your attention. You rock though! OOP: Coming from someone who lost their father young, this comment means the world to me. Happy belated Father’s Day! Commenter 3: Sometimes I think a gym should have wrist bands: one for those who want to socialize, another for those that want no interaction. Take the guess work out of who wants to be chatty? OOP: Love this idea, honestly! Downvoted Commenter: How do you feel about yourself? Probably not great, right? :/ OOP: Actually I feel great about setting boundaries. I finished my work out on a great note   UPDATE #1: (On the same post, same day, hours later For people saying this would have been different if he was an attractive guy. I stumble and get awkward no matter who it is if the conversation needs to go beyond more than a single question and response. Men, women, children. This isn’t a “want it” or “don’t want it” situation as much as it’s a “I’m not in a headspace where I can have human conversation.” For people saying this is the same type of person who wonders why guys don’t ask them out: I keep a little post it note in my gym bag that says “Hi, my name is (name). I think you’re cute, but I want to respect your gym time. Text me if you want to get coffee sometime.” I’ve never given it to anyone, but it’s there if I ever feel like I need it. Anyway, I’m at work. Hope everyone has a great day!   Final Update posted June 24, 2025/Same Post FINAL UPDATE: Wow. While I figured posting this might be a little divisive, I didn’t expect it to blow up like this. I went to the gym today and had one of the best workouts I’ve had in a long time — partly because I was fueled by the overwhelming support I received from people who understood the importance of asserting boundaries. So thank you to everyone who saw where I was coming from. For anyone who still thinks I’m the AH — I can live with that. But before I go, I want to share something that happened to me a couple of months ago. Maybe it’ll give you something to chew on. I was at the same gym, in the middle of isolated bicep curls. End of the rep, second-to-last set to failure. I was slowing the movement, fully concentrated, eyes closed. When I opened them — a stranger’s face was three inches from mine. Startled, I set the weight down and looked over to see a plump, middle-aged man in a baseball cap. I took out one of my headphones, still in shock, and all I could say was, “What the f***?!” He then grabbed my arms and forced them back onto the machine’s handles, saying “One more!” I pulled away and snapped, “Who the f*** do you think you are?” His face fell as he muttered, “I was just admiring your work.” I told him, “I’m in the middle of a f*ing set.” He got defensive, saying, “Actually, I wanted to use that.” I replied, “You can use it when I’m not in the middle of a set.” He rolled his eyes and walked off. I was left shaking. As I started to put my headphone back in, another man approached and waved. I took it back out, and he said, “You really shouldn’t have to put up with that.” I smiled and said thanks. He walked away. I got back to my set. Additional Comment from OOP responding to a comment about men invading her personal space OOP: I responded to someone’s message, and I think my response still fits your comment pretty well: Hi there. You sending your response here is fine. I haven’t responded to any others, but I can tell you took the time to put your position into words, and I want to honor that. To preface this, I’d like to say I am also a manager and have worked customer service my whole life. I have also navigated difficult (and sometimes scary) interactions between my employees/coworkers and customers. For multiple reasons, not least of all protecting the company from legal threats, deescalation and reporting that behavior is always the best route when we’re at work. First and foremost, I’d like to say that I would never expect a stranger to risk being stabbed or shot by standing up for someone else. The way these incidents play out are hugely influenced by set and setting, and I don’t think there’s a one size fits all solution on what someone should do. That being said, my situation took place in a gym: a public place that requires a membership, where people are generally dressed down, and weapons are prohibited. Your statement “My life isn’t worth making you feel like society is healing, or that those people are getting the justice they deserve.” is absolutely fair in a blanket statement — especially if that situation took place on the street or in an alley at night. But, in a gym where those possible dangers are drastically reduced, it feels like you’re both defending your inaction while hyperbolizing what I’m asking for. When I envision what I wish someone would have done, it’s not marching up and telling the dude off until he walks away from me. I just wish someone within that 6 foot radius would have taken out a headphone and said “Dude, WTF?” instead of staring at us watching it happen. I didn’t need a knight in shining armor, just a little backup so it’s not 1 v 1. It’s sad, but men like the one who put his hands on me generally back off the second they see another man involved. I’m not asking you to prove to me that society is healing or someone is getting justice. I’m just asking you to be a bro and back me up as I defend myself. I’m out here standing up for myself and trying to be the change I want to see in the world. Not to prove that society is healing, but just because I know it’s the right thing to do. The gym is my space just as much as it is anyone else who pays for it, and I’m not going to be scared or intimidated out of my happy place. I understand that you feel you’ve done your part, and since I don’t know you at all, I really am not one to say either way. But, just based on what you’ve said in your message, I would like to recommend something to you. There’s a comedian named Daniel Sloss who has a special on Max called “X”. It’s hilarious and it’s something I wish I could convince every man to watch. Every person, male and female, that I have shown it to have loved it. If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend. Cheers and have a great day, man! ⸻ Now here’s what I’ll say: Baseball Cap Guy was way more out of line than the guy who approached me at the food carts — even by the third time, when I finally snapped at him. I reported that incident to the gym manager. They took it seriously, walked through the whole event with me, and I gave the best description I could. I haven’t seen that man since. Whether he was banned or just stopped showing up, I don’t know. As for the guy from the food carts — he hasn’t approached me again. We’ve been in the same space at the gym a couple times, but I’m very good at pretending people don’t exist during workouts. I appreciate that he respected my boundaries. I see no reason to report him. ⸻ But here’s what I want to leave you with: The man who approached me right after that first incident — the one who said I shouldn’t have to put up with it — Why did he say that to me, instead of to him? Why is it easier to comfort a woman in distress than it is to call out the man who caused it? I do think he meant well. I appreciated it in the moment. But I still have to ask: When given the choice between verbally comforting a woman and actually intervening — Why do so many men choose comfort over protection? Why is it harder to confront predatory behavior than it is to empathize with its aftermath? That’s all I have to say. This will be my final update.   Editor’s note: marking this concluded per OOP as there would be no further updates   DO NOT COMMENT IN LINKED POSTS OR MESSAGE OOPs – BoRU Rule #7 THIS IS A REPOST SUB - I AM NOT OOP submitted by /u/Choice_Evidence1983 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

AITAH for telling a woman at the gym that she's embarrassing herself?
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/TrainingDistance4448 Originally posted to r/AITAH AITAH for telling a woman at the gym that she's embarrassing herself? Thanks to u/queenlegolas for suggesting this BoRU Trigger Warnings: emotional manipulation, obsessive behavior, stalking, racism, falsifying accusations Mood Spoilers: scary and frustrating Original Post: June 2, 2025 I go to the gym a lot. Update: June 8, 2025 (six days later) Summary of previous post (skip this paragraph if you read that post): A woman at my gym, Andrea (fake name) asked me out after some normal not at all romantic interactions. Update: Andrea the gym nut: June 12, 2025 (four days later) Sorry for the incomprehensible post. Latest Update here: BoRU #2   DO NOT COMMENT IN LINKED POSTS OR MESSAGE OOPs – BoRU Rule #7 THIS IS A REPOST SUB - I AM NOT OOP submitted by /u/Choice_Evidence1983 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

[Tim MacMahon] Inside the end of the Luka Donic era Dallas Mavericks
I encourage people to read the full article, but some interesting parts I found personally are: Section about the firing of Casey Smith, long time friend of Dirk and who was fired while visiting his dying mother over Video Conference. That alienated Dirk from the Mavs and Casey Smith was then hired by the Knicks on Jalen Brunson's recommedation. How Nico Harrison felt threatened by Casey Smith due to his power/influence inside the organisation. On top of Casey Smith, Holsopple and Sprangler (long time employees). Holsopple apparently won Conditioning Coach of the Year 2021 had all been fired and were all long time confidents of Luka Doncic and had helped him transition to the NBA. Dysfunction between Harrison's new hires -- director of player health and performance Johann Bilsborough and athletic performance director Keith Belton Loud verbal confrontation between Bilsborough and Belton due to the Lively sitatuation. He was planned to play 2 days after a workout against the Timberwolves, but Bilsborough had concerns and he send Lively to a CT scan showing a stress fracture. Bilsborough does not respect Belton's. "He's a glorified cheerleader," one team source said. "But Nico clearly wanted cheerleader energy.". AD apparently has his own team instead of Belton The CBA states that an individual hired as a head strength and conditioning coach must have at least three years of experience since receiving those certifications. Belton apparently lacked the required certifications. Part about how Bilsborough and Art Horne (Celtics Head Athletic trainer) when Bilsborough worked at the Celtics often disagreed. --- (Speculation on my part, shows pattern of discourse in numerous organistion) Cuban wanted to be a mediator, but was pushed out and Nico did not want to cede any ground. Part about how before the 2023 draft, Luka had hired hired Real Madrid physiotherapist Javier Barrio Calvo and Slovenian national team strength coach Anze Macek to work together with Casey Smith and the other Mavs staff in preperation for the 2024 season and avoid any calf injuries he had suffered from. This led to the best season of his career. They were all also led go by the Mavs after his career year. Now the biggest part for me about Luka: The tension between the sides soared after Doncic sustained another left calf strain -- his fourth in a 28-month span -- on Christmas Day. Doncic's camp believed he had returned too quickly from a left heel bruise he had sustained during his 45-point triple-double in a Dec. 15 win over the Golden State Warriors and had been playing on his toes to avoid discomfort in his heel. Harrison blamed poor conditioning. The sides also drastically disagreed on the timetable for Doncic's return after receiving the MRI results. Bilsborough believed Doncic could be back in two or three weeks, sources said, while Doncic's team adamantly stated that he needed to sit out six weeks. They got their way, and a target return date was set for the Feb. 8 home game against the Houston Rockets. "That deepened the divide," a source said. Doncic didn't put any weight on his left leg for two weeks, using crutches and a scooter to get around. The MRI results four weeks later were encouraging but the plan remained in place. Another major disagreement emerged between the sides when Doncic refused Harrison's request to join the team on a five-game trip leading up to his target return date. Harrison griped that Doncic was holding the team hostage, sources said. Doncic's camp argued that he was better off having around-the-clock access to the Mavs' practice facility than traveling with the team. It pointed out that Doncic was doing two-a-day, multihour basketball workouts, which wouldn't be possible with court time difficult to book on the road. He also could utilize the weight room and the high-tech medical equipment at his convenience, which isn't the case in other team's arenas and hotels. Harrison countered, insisting that Doncic needed to scrimmage. Doncic's camp, in response, said he'd be happy to practice with the G League Texas Legends in Frisco, a Dallas suburb. The next time Doncic's camp heard from Harrison, it was to share the news that the trade he'd been secretly negotiating for weeks with the Lakers was finalized. It seems that the Mavs training staff (Bilsborough who Nico hired after he fired Casey Smith) believed Luka could return in 2-3 weeks after his calf strain, while Luka's camp though he needed 6 weeks to recover (in line with Grade 2 sprain). Reminder Luka didn't put ANY weight at all on his left leg for 2 weeks (let alone fully recovered in weeks). Nico Harrison also wanted Luka to travel with the team while rehabbing and Luka's camp said no, we are able to rehab here and use the facillity. Which makes sense, most players when rehabbing don't travel with the team as they have facillity's available at home instead of makeshit ones on the road. Nico then demanded that Luka scrimmage as part of his rehab and Luka's camp offered to practice with the G-League team and then he got traded afterwards lol. Seems like Nico Harrison wanted to take full control of the Mavs org. Fired any longstanding team member who had influence/power. He replaced them with "his guys" and then he spend time trying to put power of Luka's camp, when that didn't work he traded him. Thoughts? source: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/44704219/inside-end-luka-doncic-era-dallas-mavericks Edit: I also forgot to mention, this reporting is in line with previous reports after the trade. How the Mavs staff believed Luka could return earlier, Patrick Dumont's comments of "Don't take a vacation on company time" and how Luka in his press conference with the Lakers said (paraphrasing) "For the first time in my career I took time to fully heal". and part about Belton's (Nico's personal hire) incompetence according to other sources putting players in danger. Some of Belton's critics describe him as more of a personal trainer than the "body engineer" that is standard for modern NBA strength coaches. "Johann is a little bit handcuffed in his department," a team source said. "[Belton is in] a pivotal role that trains players, but keeps the department in line to a philosophy and everyone working in the same way -- [Belton is] none of those things. And then on top of it, the two of them have been beefing since day one, which led to the big blowup. "He has shown no respect to Johann the entire year. No collaboration whatsoever. He either ranges from completely standoffish to doing the dumbest s--- with a player just to prove a point to Johann. It's terrible. And you can't do it that way. You can't do what he's done and not put a player more at risk by doing that." Edit 2: Also the weirdest part about the article is the following to me: On Nov. 29, a day before the fifth and final game he sat out, a television in the media room at the Mavs' practice facility was tuned into the closed-circuit feed of Doncic scrimmaging with low minutes players and staffers, launching long jumpers on almost every offensive possession. When a team employee noticed the feed, they changed the channel quickly, saying they were unsure how it became available. The feed has not been shown in the media room since. There's almost an implication that Luka was being spied on and secretly recorded during his rehab? Also I only just now noticed the typo I made in the title oops submitted by /u/Salvalicious252 to r/nba [link] [comments]

AITAH for yelling at a person with special needs at the gym?
I am NOT the Original Poster. That is Cool-Blood5097. They posted in r/AITAH Thanks to u/BakingGiraffeBakes for the rec! Do NOT comment on Original Posts. Latest update is 7 days old Mood Spoiler: things are straightened out Original Post: December 9, 2024 I (29M) have been going to the same gym for the past 10 years. There are a number of trainers that appear to work exclusively with people that have special needs, both physically and mentally. They work in one-to-one sessions, trainers showing them how to use each machine safely and putting together an exercise program for them, and they're also often accompanied by a guardian. I want to say straight away, that I have zero issues with this at all. I love going to the gym, and it's great to see others enjoying it too. As long as everyone is working out in a safe way, everything is fine. I've seen what I would call a few "near misses", with weights being dropped close to others, or machines being used improperly, but I've never seen anyone be seriously hurt. So today I entered the gym and walked past a trainer I hadn't seen before. She was with a guy that I had seen a few times before. I'm not sure what his condition is, so I apologise if any of the following sounds offensive (I don't intend for it to, I'm just explaining what happened). As I walked past, he was loudly counting the number of reps he was doing on the leg press. I continued over to the dumbbells, got set up at a bench, and started my workout. After a couple of sets, the guy came over, and stood just next to my bench, about a meter away from me, just staring at me. His trainer was still over at the leg press on her phone. It was a little awkward with him standing there, but he wasn't in my way, so I don't say anything. As soon as I pick up the weight from the bench, he sits down on the bench. As I noticed what he was doing, I just said "I'm using that bench mate", but he proceeds to start doing sit-ups and again loudly counts them out. So this guy is lying back on my towel, wallet, and phone. I repeat again, "Mate, I'm using this one", as I put down the weights and try to pull my belongings out from under his sweaty back. I guess hearing the counting, the trainer notices what happened and came over and apologises. I just give a nod but don't say anything. I wasn't exactly impressed that she wasn't keeping a better eye on him. I moved a few benches over, and thought that was the end of it. Next I was on the bench press, so holding a large amount of weight over my chest. The guy comes over again and stands right next to bench in line to my face, right where I need to put the weights back on the rack, just staring down at me. Again, I said calmy, "You need to move mate, I need to put the weight down." He just stared at me half smiling. I asked him twice more, and he just continued staring, not a single sign that he had understood or even heard me. So I called out loudly for help. Luckily the trainer heard, again coming over to apologise and pull him out of the way. I put the weight back, and then said to her that she needs to keep an eye on him, because he's going to end up getting himself seriously hurt. Some time passes without incident, they're on the other side of the gym, and I'm on one of the cable machines doing tricep pushdowns. I get to my last rep of my last set, and just as I push down (50kg/110lbs of metal raised in the air) from out of nowhere this guy lets out a huge scream, and lunges at the raised weight stack in front of me. Now this is what went through my head in the moment. I'm on my last rep, so I probably had about 2 seconds that i could hold the weight before my muscles failed and the weight came crashing down. With that weight, there was a good chance that he would be seriously injured (lost/crushed finger, broken hand/arm etc.). I knew that my last attempts of speaking calmly had yielded zero response from him, and I did't have time to call for his negligent trainer to come and help. I screamed at the top of my lungs "GET AWAY FROM IT". The guy jumped back like he'd had the fright of his life. I lowered the weights, and immediately turn around, enraged and looking for the trainer. Well, she was already on the way over, no doubt because she'd heard me yell. "What the hell are you doing? Did you see what he just did?" I ask, as the guy starts loudly crying. She comes over and asks why I would yell at him, since he doesn't know any better. I again asked if she'd seen what happened, and that he was almost seriously hurt. And yeah, he didn't know better, which is exactly why she should have been there to watch him. I guess the guys guardian (maybe his mother, unsure) had heard everything as well. She came in, and the trainer immediately tells her that I yelled at him for "standing too close". I tried explaining that he was almost seriously hurt, and that the he wasn't being supervised properly. We went back and forth, but both the trainer and guardian were not satisfied with my explanation, calling me an asshole for raising my voice to him like that. Next thing i know, they've called one of the other trainers from the gym, who told me to leave, and that they'd be suspending my membership, before I was able to explain to him my side of the story. I plan to speak to the manager or another trainer tomorrow, and I'm hoping that it was captured clearly enough on CCTV that i can get my membership back. I know from the title of this post it sounds bad, but with everything else I don't really think I had any other option. Am I the asshole? Some of OOP's Comments: Commenter: NTA. Your reaction was instinctive in a potentially dangerous situation. The trainer's negligence was the issue. Explain your side to the manager. OOP: Yes thank you! I’ll be pushing hard to get them to review, it properly, then next closest gym is miles away from me Commenter: I’m curious… how often was his trainer slow in coming over because she was on her phone every time? Make sure the manager knows that part. I’ve never seen such an inattentive trainer. Shame on her and I hope she loses her job. OOP: Pretty much every time I looked over she was on her phone. When I was on the bench though I couldn’t see her since I was lying down, but I think it’s safe to assume that’s what she was distracted by Update Post: December 9, 2024 (Same day, 15 hours later) [editor's note- keep in mind these are in my time zones so this is probably the next day for OOP] Had a lot of people asking for an update so here it is. Original link: https://www.reddit.com/r/AITAH/comments/1ha51d5/aitah_for_yelling_at_a_person_with_special_needs/?rdt=63324 Thank you everyone for the advice. I’m a stress head, so I was playing the events over and over in my head all last night. Your comments helped keep me calm and feel more positive about the whole thing So for the update. I went by the gym this morning and asked to speak to a manager about what happened yesterday. They agreed to see me. I explained everything as I had in my post, and asked if they could review the CCTV to see what actually happened, and possibly reinstate my membership. I said that I believed the trainer yesterday had misrepresented what happened, as a lot of you pointed out, to hide the fact that she was not neglecting the guy she was meant to be supervising. Surprisingly, he said that this wasn’t the first time they had received complaints about that trainer. He said she’d only been there 2 weeks, and has already had a complaint from both a client, and another trainer from the gym. Though, he didn’t go into detail about what those complaints were. He said to leave it with him, and he’d get back to me. About an hour ago I got a call from the manager, saying he’d reviewed the footage and it was consistent with my story. The first two interactions I had with him (with the dumbbells and on the bench press) were clear in the footage. The third time was apparently obscured by some other equipment, but he said it was enough to see the guy approach me from behind without the trainer, and he was willing to take my word about what happened next. My gym membership had been reinstated, and they’ve given me the next 2 months free. I think I’ll be putting that money I save towards a nice bottle of whiskey. He also said not to worry about the trainer - “she won’t be around anymore”. So I think it’s safe to assume she lost her job. Hopefully this is a wake up call for her, and she won’t be putting anyone else in harms way in the future. Thank you again all for the support and advice. submitted by /u/LucyAriaRose to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

AITA for refusing to tattoo at my cousins wedding?
I am NOT the Original Poster. That is u/Suspicious-Fruit243. They posted in r/AmItheAsshole Mood Spoiler: yikes but a happy ending Mood Spoiler/Author's Note: I literally smacked my forehead reading this Original Post: June 8, 2024 (Throwaway because I’m not sure if my family uses Reddit lol) So a little to my background: I am a tattoo artist. I’ve done an apprenticeship the first year of tattooing. I work as a tattoo artist for 4 years now and I opened a studio recently. Me and my family are invited to a wedding, that is taking place in another state. My Cousin is marrying and we got the invitation a few months ago. Time has moved forward and now the wedding is in a week already. Out of the blue my Cousin, let’s call him Matt, texted me with something along the lines of „you’re gonna tattoo me on my wedding day“. I was a bit confused as I never even thought of bringing my equipment, since I also didn’t plan a guestspot or anything. (guestspot is a tattoo artist working at an other studio for a few days or weeks, mostly in a different area to grow the clientele) I jokingly asked if he has a machine, as i still hoped that he wasn't serious. He then just asked if I don't have one (???) and that one machine wouldn't take up that much space to take with. I replied that I didn’t plan on bringing my equipment, that in fact contains more than just a machine (color, hygiene stuff, stencil(thats the purple stuff you put on the skin to then trace the tattoo with actual needles) etc) and that I'm not prepared to tattoo at a wedding of which i don't know anything about (layout of the location, is it inside/outside and so on) He then said that he had planned on this and that it would mean a lot to him to both get a tattoo on his wedding day and that I'd be the one to tattoo him. Remember that this is the first time I'm hearing this. I again tried to explain that I don't feel comfortable with that and that it’s quite short notice as I work until me and my brother fly over to attend the wedding and a tattoo needs to be designed first, right? He saw my message but didn’t reply anymore. This morning my mother called and she was furious… she asked why I couldn’t pull my shit together and just tattoo Matt. I told her what I’ve previously told Matt as well but she didn’t wanna hear it. She just said it would mean a lot to her and Matt‘s family if I’d do that and that it could be my wedding gift then she hung up. I talked to my brother about it and he just shrugged it off and said „it would be nice of you tho“ I’m unsure what to do now, as I said I’m not really comfortable with the whole situation, especially because I’ve never been guestspotting, so I never had to travel -let alone get on a plane- with my equipment. But is that just selfish? I mean it would mean a lot to apparently everyone and I’m just saying no? EDIT: I do have an actual wedding gift already as they sent out a wishlist with their invitations. There was a point that said Artwork, because they recently moved into a bigger house and apparently they want random artwork to decorate. I oil painted them a painting i spent several days on, so I also don't plan to give him a voucher as a gift. Matty doesn't have any tattoos as far as I know. I don't know what my mom's problem is with all of this, I think she just wants to "keep the peace" Relevant Comments: Commenter: If Matt had his heart set on this happening at his wedding then he should have discussed it with you as soon as possible, NOT ONE WEEK BEFORE!! Jeez he knows a tattoo is permanent right? He wants you to just show up with kit in an unsterile environment and what, just wing out a design on him? No prep, no planning? All on his wedding day? It would have been better he has contacted you and gotten the tattoo done before the wedding, then he could have revealed with at the ceremony, all healed etc. Getting it done on the day, for what reason? This just seems silly AF. But mainly, not your problem. He should have given you more notice. That's on him. Maybe offer to do it at your shop after the wedding? Tell them you'll look for inspiration for the design at their wedding so it can be unique to their day? OOP: I especially don’t understand why I should tattoo at a wedding since you can’t (or shouldn’t) combine getting tattooed with drinking alcohol and knowing Matt, there will be plenty of Alcohol at this wedding Commenter: Really - and does that mean you can’t drink as well? This would be a hard NO from me. OOP: Yea I wouldn’t be able to drink either, but up until now I haven’t even thought of that! Commenter: It's inappropriate of him to expect you to work for free at an event to which you're a guest. Are you even licensed to tattoo in the other state? The entire thing sounds ludicrous. Tell your cousin your hourly rate (build in the PIA rate for hauling your equipment) and he needs to cover your flights and hotel. After all, flying in a trained professional to perform a service costs money. Oh, and he needs to pay up front since this is a special service. OOP: I am actually licensed. And I mean I would ask for money but apparently they planned this as a wedding gift, like my mom suggested. I can’t imagine what they are even thinking Commenter: "They planned this as a wedding gift..." From you? 'Cause that's pretty presumptuous and against some kind of, like, wedding etiquette. I always thought any mention of gifts by the wedding couple was some kind of faux pas. NTA. OOP: Especially since they have an actual list of things they want to be gifted! I mean there was a point that said artwork but if they wanted me to tattoo Matt as a gift they could and should’ve reached out as they sent out their list. Commenter: And is there a honeymoon happening right after the wedding? If they're going anywhere where swimming is involved, he won't be able to swim with a fresh tattoo. OOP: I thought of that too, they are going to Bali… I doubt that he had considered not being able to go swim or being in the sun at all Commenter: They're being unreasonable and making things weird for no reason. NTA and I just wouldn't go if they keep being like this. OOP: I did think about not attending. It would be sad not to but this is also very uncomfortable and I don’t think everyone has let go of it by then… Commenter: NTA, but disclaimer im petty, i would find out who the bride is and tell her. this would hijak the wedding. explain to her or her moh or mom that you would need several hours to set up, clean, do the actual tattoo that this would take over her whole wedding. then sit back and watch the shitfest. OOP: Im actually not sure if the bride is in on this or not. I’m not close with her at all Commenter: Does he have any other tattoos so that he understands how long it could end up taking? He could theoretically want anything at this point. This is such a ridiculous request. OOP: I don’t think he has any tattoos and with that no concept on how tattooing actually works Update Post: June 10, 2024 (2 days later, Originally posted on AITA) Since my update got banned Bcs I posted another update: So the last hours have been a lot First of I called my mom and WOW she asked me again, this time very friendly, if I want to tattoo Matty at his wedding & again I said no, with all the reasons I’ve previously given her + some of the very good points you guys had. Before she could say anything else, I added that I felt like she wouldn’t take me & tattooing seriously. She didn’t say anything for a bit until she tried to explain that she really thought it wasn’t a big deal. I told her again that it is and that my mom of all the people should know how my job works. She agreed and apologised profusely. I then asked her if she’d like to attend and watch me work on a clients appointment and to my surprise she said yes! (Mom is tagging along tomorrow) Now to Matty or rather his bride: I finally got hold of the bride, let’s say her Name is Becky, and asked her about the request her fiancé confronted me with. She seemed surprised as she apparently had heard from my aunt that I made them something for their new house. She assumed it would be a painting since I’m „the artist“ of the family and it’s known that I also paint. I confirmed that, but that Matty has come forward with this out of the blue and that it’s not a good idea for many reasons. She agreed with me immediately (I think she does have tattoos) She thanked me for telling her as no one else did. Becky seemed really mad but she seemed to pull herself together. (I would’ve lost it) I’m assuming Becky confronted Matt after our call because only 3 to 4 hours later I checked the family groupchat and there was a message from Becky: „There will be no ceremony on the 13th as Matt and I decided we aren’t getting married. Matt and I have things to figure out so please text or call us tomorrow if you have questions, for the rest of the day we’ll be on flight mode“ After dinner Becky called me and apologised for Matt again, she said it was a stupid idea of his and that he just thought it would be cool. She then informed me that she still wants me to fly over for the wedding day as she will be hosting a party instead of a wedding. Everything is paid for anyways and she doesn’t want anything to go to waste. I asked if they broke up „not yet, but I’m gonna stay at my sisters place until next week“. I’m assuming Matt hasn’t been too great but I’m sure I’ll hear about it. (Apparently my brother and my mom aren’t invited lol) My call must’ve been the last straw but as far as I am concerned Becky is handling it gracefully and Matt will be okay too, I’m sure. So I’m going to a party but did I just make a new friend? Thanks y’all for having my back! Relevant Comments: Commenter: Lol, I love how mom went a full 180 there! I'm a little shocked the bride canceled the wedding over this one thing — did she just have no clue her fiance was as impulsive as he turned out to be? Everything is payed for anyways Paid, please. This is the worst trend on the internet. OOP: I don’t think it’s the only thing that has happened, but as I said I’ll probably hear about it at the party, and if not from Becky, I’m sure there are some of her friends that like to spill the tea Update Post 2: June 14, 2024 (4 days later, 6 from OG post) Welcome back, I’m finally done writing this! Thanks to everyone coming back and reading this, I appreciate y’all and loooove that you are enjoying the tea! So because a lot of you wanted to know how the bring-your-mom-to-work-day was: I picked her up in the morning and we headed to the studio. I showed her around, told her a few background stories about some of the artworks and photos that are hanging on our walls and explained her my routine as I prepared everything. My client arrived and I handled it like I usually would, just with my mom sitting there lol. I explained every step of the process and she also asked me questions about my ink, needles, technique etc. It was a lot of fun having her around and she really did surprise me with her openness and interest. When I was done with tattooing my mother had to leave for work, but thanked and hugged me for bringing her along, as she not only enjoyed spending time with me but also loved seeing me doing my job so professionally and said that she sees my work and efforts now. to the wedding/party: The party started at 14:00 as the ceremony was cancelled. I arrived and was immediately welcomed by Becky’s sister. She hugged me and helped me with my painting. Everyone was outside, drinking and having a small bite already. I went to say hi to Becky and she hugged me warmly. She seemed tired but otherwise fine. Becky was also smiling a lot, which surprised me. I went to mingle as I didn’t want to start off with questioning her lol. I met a lot of her friends and apparently the most of them weren’t too fond of Matt. I heard a few things of how he tried to change Becky to be „more like his ex“ and stuff like that… not a great look Matty.. speaking of, not a single friend or relative of Matt was around. (besides me and one other cousin) Later as we sat down to eat, I asked if could join Becky’s table. They said yes, so I was sitting with Becky, her sister and three of her friends. I introduced myself to one of them (haven’t talked to him before) and Becky added that I’m Matts cousin, the one who was supposed to tattoo. A simultaneous „OH“ came from everyone. And with that, the conversation was about Matt from the get-go. I asked what happened. The sister just rolled her eyes and was like „what didn’t?“ Becky & friends told me: A while ago Matt has apparently started to pick on Becky for being herself in various ways. It started small like asking her to change her sports routine from workouts to only running, then he criticised her cooking as he prefers to eat more meat and more „traditionally“. (???) They discussed these topics and it always seemed fine, but he didn’t stop. He asked her if she couldn’t let her hair grow or get extensions and speaking of hair, if she couldn’t get them brighte (Becky has shoulder long black hair). More and more seemed to pile up until he also started to make comments along the line of „can’t you be more like my ex“. As I understand it he didn’t say it specifically , but it was clear he meant it like that. (his ex is from Texas) I was shocked, I asked why she didn’t break up because of that but Becky explained that in the situations it didn’t seem as bad as when you list those reasons. She had also made a few changes to „make Matty happy“ but continued to do what she wanted most of the time. Time went on and the issues resurfaced again and again in different ways. The last big fight was only a few weeks ago, when Matty called Becky by his exes name.. they somehow settled this so let’s skip forward to when I called Becky about the tattoo idea: After our call she went up to Matt and asked him why he didn’t talk to her about it and why he would just decide doing something like that on their wedding day he explained that he wanted to surprise her and stuff like that. Becky went on telling him this wasn’t happening and that she wanted to be able to enjoy the wedding AND their honeymoon. Again they seemed to agree in the end and he apologised. BUT LATER (this almost threw me) as Becky was starting to cook dinner and Matt was sitting at the counter they talked about tattoos again (apparently really chill discussion about tattoos in general) and Becky asked him playfully what he intended on getting tattooed. He gestured across HIS CHEST and said „ I want my birth date, our wedding date and your birth date, so [insert his bd], [06.13.2024], [insert bd]“. Becky said she went blind for a millisecond. That third date, was in fact not her birthday. She asked him again and he repeated the same dates. She then said that this isn’t her birth date, he persisted that it was and that she should stop trying to fool him. She said she started to cry and ran to get her purse to show him her drivers license, that’s when his face slipped. He tried to get out of it by making excuses that he isn’t good with dates etc but Becky just went straight to her phone and checked Facebook. She found his exes profile showing HER BIRTHDAY. It was the date he would have gotten TATTOOED ON HIS CHEST, if I hadn’t said no and also called Becky. My dumbass cousin would’ve ended up with the birthday of his ex girlfriend next to his wedding date. Becky said he more or less told him it was over and that this is enough. She started to immediately reorganise the whole wedding and honeymoon while kicking him out of the house. A bit later she called me back. She also mentioned that she didn’t want to say what happened on the phone as she thought I might tell my family and she really didn’t want to hear about it. Fair, I get that. Becky changed the honeymoon booking and is now taking her best friend. Also if you’re wondering, Becky’s dad is currently the owner of their house as they agreed to slowly pay him back, due to his financial wealth and stability that made more sense this way. As far as I know Becky is going to stay there. Anyways that’s the tea folks. This was truly a wild ride and I am pretty sure Becky and I are going to be good friends, we really hit it off! I don’t have much dignity left for Matt so I’m not sure I’ll keep the contact at all. PS: Becky loved my painting! submitted by /u/LucyAriaRose to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

AITA for telling a guy at the gym to leave me alone?
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/CalciumRichh AITA for telling a guy at the gym to leave me alone? Originally posted to r/AITAH TRIGGER WARNING: harassment Original Post Aug 24, 2023 At the beginning of this year I decided I wanted to commit to working out again. At first I started at home in my garage and more recently I decided to join an actual gym again. It’s only a 4 minute drive from my husband and I’s house so it’s perfect. Here’s my problem though. 2 weeks ago while I was deadlifting a guy came up to me and interrupt my workout to tell me that I was rounding my back and I could get seriously injured that way. I was kind of annoyed because I don’t like when people give me unsolicited advice and interrupt my workouts. aswell as what he was saying just wasn’t true because i wasn’t rounding my back at all. As I used to compete in powerlifting for a few years before I took a 2 year break from the gym. I know what proper form is and how to keep it. He seemed like a nice guy so I just told him thanks but I’ve got it. That was the end of that interaction. The next day as I was in the gym the same guy comes up to me interrupts my workout again to ask me my name. I tell him my name he tells me his and i put my headphones back on and continue my workout. I know I maybe came off as rude but like I said I don’t like being bothered in the gym. Unless you’re asking me how many sets I have left so you can use the equipment next there’s nothing to talk to me about and i don’t want to engage in conversations. That’s just how I am. When I was about to leave he stops me again and hands me his phone to put my number into and tells me that we should train sometimes. I told him that if i was going to train with anyone it would be my husband and i declined his phone. I thought that might let him know I’m really not interested. but over the course of 2 weeks he’s been constantly trying to speak to me interrupting me whenever he see’s me. Trying to get to know me on a personal level, he’s asked me out to smoothies after the gym multiple times, and he’s tried once more to get my number. I constantly remind him I’m happily married. I usually just fake smile/laugh and, respond very short and simple anytime we speak. Like i said he seems like a nice guy but I’m not in the gym to make friends or cheat on my husband. I truly just want to workout and listen to my music but I’m constantly having to take my headphones off to give this man attention and now I’m spending more time in the gym because I have to catch up on what I’m really there to do and the talking is distracting it’s wasting a lot of time. So yesterday while at the gym he comes up to me again while I’m in the middle of a set of goblet squats and he taps me on the shoulder to get my attention. He snuck up behind me and did it so it really startled me and i dropped the weight. I finally had enough and snapped. I took my headphones off and told him to leave me the fuck alone. He told me he was just trying to say hi and I guess he was embarrassed or something because he just walked out of the gym after that. I found that weird because didn’t you come to workout too? It’s like he only came for me and when I told him to leave me alone he just left. I finished my workout and left. Now today I’m kind of worried about going to the gym because i know he’ll be there and i honestly don’t want to deal with this anymore. I simply want to workout. AITA here though should I apologize to him when I see him today? Update Aug 25, 2023 I posted yesterday about this annoying man at my gym and I wanted to share the good news. So last night I waited for my husband to get home from work. He got home at 9, we ate dinner quickly and we got to the gym at around 9:45. I usually go at 8 and he usually comes in around 8:30 so if the guy went to the gym I knew he’d either be gone already or on his way out. So when we got to the gym I told my husband to just do his own thing and I’ll text him if I need him. He told me he’d be keep an eye out as well. Things were going fine for about 10 minutes then I see him. He had his gym bag and looked to be leaving but then he saw me too and started to approach me. I have no clue what his intentions were and i didn’t want to find out. I immediately got up and started to walk towards the front desk and he stupidly followed me all the way there. It caught the attention of my husband who was across the room and he started to follow us both too. When I got to the front desk I didn’t wait. I just blurted out to the workers “This man won’t stop harassing me!” What happened next really pissed me off because he tried to lie his way out and pretend he’d been helping me out. He tried saying that he thought we were just gym buddies and friends and that he was just going to come say hey and catch up. My husband called bullshit and told him he knew everything and to stay the hell away from me. The guy tried to defend himself by saying that he only ever gave me advice on training and he doesn’t like false accusations. At this point because we were being so loud the person who I assume is the gym manager heard us from his office, came out and, pulled him outside to talk. They stepped out to talk while my husband and I stayed at the front desk telling the other workers what’s been going on the past few weeks. A few minutes later the manager comes back inside and tells us that we don’t have to worry about him anymore and that he’s taken care of it. I saw the guy walking to his car to leave. I felt dumb in that moment because I realized the solution to my problem was that simple. I never even needed my husband to come in the first place. Im not sure if he got banned or simply kicked out for that night. I guess when I go back tonight I’ll find out and I’ll have my husband accompany me again just in case. But the rest of our gym session was great. He never showed back up thank god. These past 2 weeks really made me want to stop going because I didn’t want to deal with him every time but I’m just really happy I can workout in peace again. LPT: Do not underestimate weight training during losing weight
I used to be a fat and lazy guy and some day I decided that I need to change my life, started paying much more attention to what I am putting into my mouth. Just by changing my diet habits I was able to lose around 20kgs, my body has changed but unfortunately lots of problems from my previous self remained. Because I wasn't training at all during weight loss I became a skinny-fat person, I had a body with no visible muscles and lots of excess skin, I did not have much strength, and because of sitting office job I have been suffering from chronic back pain. Believe me the thing have changed drastically for me when I started doing a weight trainings.I started with little fitness knowledge but I did not want to pay a ton for a personal trainer because I wasn't sure if I am gonna stay motivated. Luckily during lockdowns lots of fitness trainers started working online and currently there are tons of resources on YouTube that helped me to get started and guided me step by step in my transformation journey. I also did not want to go to gym, for me the the most important factor was that I was simply ashamed of myself. I felt that all those well-built guys are gonna stare at me and make jokes, so I decided that I will exercise at home at least 3 times a week. At first I started with just weight of my body doing stuff like squats, lunges, push-ups, negative pull-ups. This set me on right track for success so I bought my first piece of equipment which was a 6kg kettlebell. I did couple of full body workouts found online and damn it was a blast, lactic acid all over my body. After some time I felt that 6kg is became to light for me so I increased the load and started training with 12kg. In order to add a bit of a variety I bought two resistance loop bands and incorporated those into my trainings. Couple of days ago I switched from 12kg kettlebell to 16kg in order to maintain progressive overload. Since I started doing the weight trainings I lost over 5% of body fat and developed muscles.Composition of my body has changed, I am now much more active and stretched, my body is no longer giving me as much movement issues as it used to. I strengthen my core, my posture looks way better as I do not slouch that much anymore, also my back pains ceased to exist. Apart from obvious health benefits body transformation gave me significant boost of self-esteem, I know that I look just a bit better but I feel million times better. This also positively affects my work and personal life because I am much more confident in myself. So based on my personal experience I am giving you the best Life Pro Tip I can - start doing weight training, maybe it is gonna change your life the same way it changed mine. Edit: Many of you replied about the gym mocking, the problem is rather imaginary and such guys are minority. The problem is that as na obese person with low self esteem you just subconsciously feel that you don't belong here. It is like being on suit party dressed in shorts and dirty t-shirt :D Edit 2: I have added a comment with recommended YouTube channels that worked the best for me. submitted by /u/macmaci1 to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]

¿What are really my options without equipment?
My parents are really restrictive and they don’t want to buy me any type of equipment, don’t ask about it because it’s complicated. They don’t even let me work so I can’t buy equipment myself. I really really want to stay in shape, I’m a teenager and all my friends are getting fit and looking good, I also want to be stronger. What are really my options without any equipment besides my body weight and some 10 lbs dumbells ¿Any recommended apps or workouts? I can’t do pull ups either because there is literally no place to do them ¿What can I do? :( EDIT: I would like to thank all the people that has commented on this post, all your guidance and supportive comments gave me the motivation to keep going, 3 days ago I felt frustrated and stuck in my fitness journey but with everyone’s help I feel like there is hope for me to be a better person and look better, again, thanks a lot! submitted by /u/Tasty_Croissants to r/bodyweightfitness [link] [comments]

It sucks that I have to sacrifice my quality of workout just because men can’t behave
Mainly because it was close, I joined a pretty upscale nearby gym 3 years ago. Almost immediately, I realised there were times to avoid. The evenings were pretty much all much older men at the gym and the mirrors around made it very obvious that any woman was going to be gawked at. I’ve been approached with “advice” (if you do that you’ll get bulky”, romantic advances and “compliments” upwards of 100 times since joining the gym and just put my earphones in, ignored the stares and carried on. I liked the pool, although a lot of these guys would sit around the edges staring (and even rating the women I heard once) and it’s a huge place with plenty of equipment. Recently I joined a women’s only gym. Sadly it only has about 30% of the equipment and gets pretty full, but people wait in an orderly way and obviously all problems of staring and approaching have immediately gone. I’m much more comfortable and happy. I’m no longer looking over my shoulder or shoving my earphones in 24.7 just to be left alone. But now my workouts aren’t as good. Sucks. That’s all. submitted by /u/howmanyapples42 to r/TwoXChromosomes [link] [comments]

AITA for not letting my fiancé's niece try my engagement ring?
I, f36 recently got engaged to my fiancé, m34. He's in the military and has an extended family. He's close to his sister and 21 year old niece (his bil is deceased) When I met his niece, she seemed sweet but kept making passive agressive comments about me. like how I look older than my fiancé, how we're incompitable just due to our star signs or whatever. And when we announced my engagement she told my fiancé he is moving too fast (we been dating for alomost 3 yrs, LDR). Yesterday I visited my future inlaws and his sister and niece were there. His niece saw my ring and commented on it saying "I bet this is the fanciest one you've ever got! just like my uncle!". I felt offended and thought that was rude but I ignored her because of how MIL was looking at me. But she (his niece) asked if she could try the ring on, I was taken aback I said no, she asked again but I still said no. next thing I knew she got up from her seat and stood infront of me extending her arm expecting me to take the ring off and give it to her. I was like WTF? I said "please go back to your seat, I already said no", SIL said it was fine but I said I just didn't feel comfortable. SIL then looked at me quizzically and was like "are you serious??, that's his niece, just let her try it on!" I said I'm sorry but no. Niece threw a fit and went upstairs, her mom said I had no reason to act like this and said she didn't get what my problem is. I took my purse about to leave after she kept berating me for not letting her daughter try the ring. MIL asked me to stay but I insisted on leaving. SIL tried calling me and because I needed time to answer she sent a text saying my behavior was alarming and that she will bring this incident up to her brother when he gets back becausw she sensed that I'm trying to drive a wedge between her daughter and my fiancé for whatever reason. We haven't talked after that and I really don'5 know what to think of this, I don't know if I acted poorly but I'll leave this to you maybe I'm missing something. AITA?? Background for some clarification: My fiancé has 2 sisters and he's close to this particular sister and her daughter. Her daughter hangs out alot with him and sometimes refers to him as "Kev". I found that a bit weird but since he's the youngest uncle (he has 2 older brothers too) then I thought no problem. She follows all his SM accounts and even knows some of his friends, also she drives his car whenever he visits and uses his workout equipment as well. I talked to him about some boundaries but his sister gave me no chance and accused me of putting space between the family and him so I kept my mouth shut. submitted by /u/JoriJon65756 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

YSK about Darebee.com, which features 300+ no equipment workouts and is perfect for safe workouts at home vs in a busy indoor gym
Why YSK: because many gyms are still closed and when winter soon arrives in the northern hemisphere outdoor workouts will be less enjoyable/possible. I came across this site in March and have been getting surprisingly great workouts in without a gym from the site. Really simple visuals to support each exercise/movement. Figured I'd share the love. Lots of warmup and stretches too, or workouts focusing on specific areas of the body. Enjoy https://darebee.com submitted by /u/BearBong to r/YouShouldKnow [link] [comments]

Coronavirus Curfew Home Workout - 12 min session! No Equipment Required - Scalable for all strength/ age/ability levels. Excel in isolation! All you need to SMASH your lockdown workout !
Hey all you r/bodyweightfitness superstars looking to SMASH through the COVID19 lockdown! Out of tragedy comes EXTREME STRENGTH AND MUSCLE POWER AND FITNESS - with this crazy-easy program I have devised for everyone who wants to shred and burn and crank and SUCCEED! **************UPDATE!!! ***Here's the YOUTUBE link to a simple demonstration of all the exercises https://youtu.be/PED7GgHpsgoGO FOR IT!!!!*** **************** OK - This program is directly scalable to your strength and cardio ability and will evolve and become harder as you become stronger and are able to complete more sets. As a total body workout, it can be done in virtually any park or backyard in your home town or even in a car park. But it’s a very intense 12 minutes (minimum), so you need to have a water bottle handy. This body weight training circuit hits every major muscle group and will build hard, dense, strong and fast muscle fibres. ***Each exercise is performed to maximum reps until failure or a duration of 60 seconds; whichever comes first. Rest for a maximum of 60 seconds between exercises; there are 7 exercises with 60 seconds rest in between equalling a total of 12 minutes from the start of your first exercise to the end of your last exercise. This is geared to shred your frame of fat and build hard muscle. If you still have energy and strength to do more exercises after completing the 7 exercises, then start the circuit again and do as many exercises as possible. Half or partial range-of-motion reps are allowed if you have exhausted your full R.O.M strength within the 60 seconds– just try to get to that 60 seconds of muscle movement. 1. Push Ups - for 60 seconds Get into push up position, straighten your arms with hands under your shoulders. Keep your hands in this position as you bang out max rep push ups while pointing your elbows BACK with each full-range downward motion. Keep your arms 'close' to your body - do not flare out your elbows. Try to keep legs straight wth knees and ankles together! Breathe deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth. If you tire, proceed to partial reps to complete the 60 second time duration. Rest 60 seconds 2. Double leg squat jumps -for 60 seconds For these, stand with feet shoulder-width apart with toes pointed slightly outwards. Bend at the knees, lower your butt down and then jump as high as you can, almost straighten legs and then land smoothly, bending at the knee, using it as a ‘shock-absorber’. Use explosive plyo-metrics to launch your butt high into the air; reach up with both hands to maximum altitude. Land back down to earth as smoothly as possible using both legs as steel-spring shock absorbers. Go the full 60 seconds, even if you finish by doing pathetic little micro-squats. It’s all part of the process; you will become stronger! Rest 60 seconds then move on to the next exercise. Rest 60 seconds 3. Push-through crunches - for 60 secondsFind a flat surface, get on your back, bend knees, feet flat, point arms forward then raise your back and shoulders - curl at the core/abs - and push your hands through the gap between your knees.Keep your neck tucked in to your chest. Exhale as much air out of your lungs as possible; take short sharp breaths, exhaling on the contracting/up movement. Use your abs to lift your back/shoulders. Aim for as many rets of ten that you can do in 60 seconds. Rest 60 seconds 4. Human Plank & Side Plank - for 60 secondsThese are great static holds for total core strength and toning. Do them anywhere, anytime – aim for 60 seconds, then build up to 2 minutes and more. Exhale everything in your system. Hold your body up on forearms (elbows under shoulders) and toes, pointing straight down. Take short, sharp strong breaths throughout. Do not ‘rest’ or ‘push’ on the balls of your feet by arching your back; all the weight pressure should be pointing down vertically. When you get strong enough try variations such lifting alternate feet off the ground for as long as you can or progress to a side-plank. Rest 60 seconds 5. Bicycle Crunches -for 60 secondsGet on your back, put your hands lightly behind your head, then raise your shoulders/core and twist your shoulders so your elbow reaches towards your opposite knee (eg; left elbow to right knee), which you bring up towards your chest. Be sure to extend your other leg out nice and straight. Do them fast and smooth – every single one you do means a flatter, healthier stomach. So go for it! Aim for 60 seconds non-stop. Do these as often as possible. Stop immediately if you feel any pain. Rest 60 seconds 6. Push Ups Part 2- for 60 seconds Get into push up position. straighten your arms with hands under your shoulders. Keep your hands in this position as you bang out max rep push ups while pointing your BACK with each full-range downward motion. Keep your arms 'close' to your body - do not flare out your elbows. Breathe deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth. If you tire, proceed to partial reps to complete the 60 second time duration. Rest 60 seconds 7. TOE-TOUCH AB CRUNCHES - for 60 seconds Hop down on your back onto the ground, exhale to minimise the air in your lungs, contract your core, lift your head and heels off the ground for a second, then simultaneously reach your fingers up to meet your toes as you raise your straight legs off the ground as high as you can go. END CIRCUIT. IMPORTANT! - If you still have energy and strength to do more exercises after completing the 7 exercises in the allotted time, then start the circuit again and repeat as many exercises as possible. YOU CAN AND YOU WILL SUCCEED! NOTHING CAN STOP YOU! OPTIONAL EXTRAS: If you have a access to a Pull up bar: Pull ups Grab the pull up bar with your palms facing forward and commence pull ups to max reps, even if it's ONE REP. When you can’t do any more full reps, proceed with partial reps. When you are too weak to do partial reps then just hang on the bar for as long as you can... until your finger grip diminishes and gives in and you drop off... Then, if you can, grab on again and try to complete the 60 seconds on the bar. Hanging leg raise ab crunch (using dip or hang position) You can do these hanging from a bar or on a dip bar. The trick is to keep your knees together and lift them up as high as possible to your chest very quickly. Then lower them slowly- but only as far as your thighs are parallel to the ground, it’s quite a tight, short movement; about 30cm – do not lower your knees all the way down. You must maintain core intensity throughout. However, when you are totally spent, you can go to partial reps to complete the minute. OK - LET'S ALL EXCEED & EXCEL WHILE VIRUSES AND GOVERNMENTS WANT TO KEEP US IN LOCKDOWN ISOLATION. FREE YOUR BODY AND YOUR MIND WILL FOLLOW! Feel free to ask any Q's or for any advice at any time! We are intros together and we will come out STRONGER together! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! submitted by /u/MarcusBondi to r/bodyweightfitness [link] [comments]
