I’ve Fallen Back Into the Nail Polish Rabbit Hole. What Did I Miss?
After taking a few years away from the hobby, I’ve found myself getting back into nail polish and I’m having an absolute blast discovering everything that’s happened while I was gone. Back in the day, most of my collection was made up of brands like OPI, and more recently I’ve picked up quite a bit from Holo Taco and Mooncat. Now I’m starting to branch out into the indie world and have orders from Cracked, Polished for Days, Dany Vianna, and Clionadh on the way. It’s made me realize just how many amazing indie brands and finishes are out there, and I’d love to hear what everyone considers the must-tries. What are the brands that consistently wow you? What are the polishes you’d recommend to anyone getting into indies? Are there any shades that you consider the best examples of a particular finish? I’d love to hear your holy grails, favorite brands, and the polishes that made you stop and stare at your nails all day. 💚✨ Enable me… but gently. 😆💅 submitted by /u/Ok-Style8833 to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

Am I a complete idiot ? Am I missing something ? Or do OPI lacquers just fucking suck ?
I'm really at the end of my rope here. I've recently gotten into nail polish after about a decade of having bare nails. I think I remembered OPI being a reputable brand from my teenage years, so I bought a few lacquers. Kind of struggled with them at the beginning but just shrugged it off as me being inexperienced and kept on my merry way, abandoning them for the Manucurist smooth line. But recently I decided to go back to opaque polish, and saw some promising pictures and reddit reviews of the color "Samoan sands", so I bought it. Though the colour is great, I've never had such a hard time painting my nails and the experience so far has been catastrophic, for several reasons : The consistency: instead of thin, smooth coats, it applies in thick, streaky coats. And by streaky, not only do I mean the color, but also the texture, which makes it super hard to have an even surface without bumps. I tried to remedy this by adding a few drops of lacquer thinner, but it hasn't really solved the issue. If anything, it made the second issue worse, which is: The sheerness. I have seen people mentioning that the lacquer needed 3 coats to be opaque, but I've still had some sheer spots (see above: uneven application) after an astonishing FOUR coats ! This is crazy to me, and it worsens the third issue which is: The drying time: I'm doing my nails for the second time tonight cause my lacquer never dries, no matter how thin I try to apply it. I wait on average 10 minutes between coats and added the Sally Hansen Insta-dri top coat and still that shit slid off my nails. I'm so mad right now. This keeps happening even though I'm trying my best to apply the thinnest coats possible, in spite of the horrible consistency. I'm incredibly frustrated right now regarding this experience with a lacquer that is frankly far from being cheap. I don't even know what to do. I don't know if this is due to my own ignorance and inability or if this is somewhat universal. I just.... I think I needed to vent. Pictured here: my nails after 2 coats. I might just give up. I've already spent an hour on my nails and nothing works. submitted by /u/KaizerWalzer to r/lacqueristas [link] [comments]

I love green, it’s my favorite color, and recently I thrifted these green plates and NEED a crème polish to match. The polish i’m wearing is not close enough and is much darker than the plate color and doesn’t have the same yellow undertone. “I Love You So Matcha” by cracked polish is the exact color I need but it’s been sold out forever so i’m looking for something like it! How many cars are there in Forza Horizon 5???
pagani oreo is available for about 2$ or less for the code, other two - ford OPI(promo code for nail polish) and ford classic(promo code for xbox forza edition controller which applies only for xbox/ms store not steam or ps5). - you can count them unobtainable. Even if you find fird OPI code and it hasn’t expired yet it so l costs about 450$ or so.

Please help me find this OPI nail polish shade
I got my nails done yesterday while on a staycation in the UK and I’ve come home and tried to find the shade they used but I haven’t been able to match it!!! I’m really obsessed though and would love to buy the exact shade. I know it’s OPI, and I did ask to see what shade it was but the bottom of the bottle only had numbers and not a shade name so I didn’t bother taking a pic (kicking myself now). It’s deffo not gel, and it looked more like a nail illuminator in the bottle and I recall being surprised that it was so opaque!! It really is just the perfect fairy princess shade, it’s a light pink, looked pink/my-nails-but-better while in the bottle, but it went a super light pink/white when painted on (teetering towards an extremely pastel violet). It’s shimmery and gorgeous and I’d be so grateful if anyone could help out submitted by /u/Forsaken_Abrocoma_94 to r/HelpMeFind [link] [comments]

Extremely lucky free nail polish haul!
I found this free polish haul on facebook marketplace that a salon had put up! It consists of mostly OPI lacquers, and if my count is right, there are 165 of them. Plus a few miscellaneous polishes that were in the bags. Grand total is 175 polishes! This is an insane amount for me to personally keep, and of course a lot of these colors aren’t my preference. Extras will be going to my sister, who wants polishes to practice for her cosmetology license, my mom (who loves green but I don’t personally wear), or donated/gifted. Most of the bottles are labeled, if anyone is interested for the name of a polish I’ll do my best to answer. The big curve pictures is all shimmers, of which there are 38. There were 2 toppers, and one pearly shade. Majority was cremes. Just wanted to share with people who understand :) A few shades I’m excited to try! Slide 5 - OPI Metallic Composition Slide 6 - OPI Kyoto Pearl Slide 7 - OPI Vampsterdam Slide 8 toppers - OPI’m A Gem, Pop the Baubles And current I’m wearing Mooncats House of Hades. :) Also, if anyone have recs for good storage cases for OPI, I am interested haha. submitted by /u/Lucyiia to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

As someone who had short chewed nails my entire life. It brought me so much joy for someone to think my nails were done professionally with gel. FUYU is definitely a favorite! Nail polish is so therapeutic 😌
I'm coming off a bad depressive episode after losing my job a year ago and learning how to give myself manicures has been such a great form of therapy. I'm so inspired by this sub, seeing everyone share their beautiful manis and creativity! There's so much joy in being introduced to an endless variety of colors, finishes, and techniques. I'm happy I found such an accessible hobby. It's (reasonably) inexpensive, I'm saving by never having to go to a nail salon again, and I feel proud of myself when I learn new things and make progress in my polish application skills. I love how focused I get when I'm giving myself a new mani. It's so meditative. Good feelings all around. 💖 This is OPI strengthening base coat, followed by Mooncat Matte Made In Hell, two coats of Mooncat Mercury in Retrograde, topped with Mooncat Speed Demon QDTC and OPI Drip Dry. I just adore the silvery, lavender, pink opalescent shimmer. Subtle, but mesmerizing. 💅💫 Edit: formatting and clarity submitted by /u/Quizleteer to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

Blooming look with REGULAR nail polish
I found this technique on Instagram (katie_schied_art taught me, but originally she got it from the quaintandpolished). I'm so excited for it! I obviously always want what I can't have so any gel look that seems impossible with regular instantly makes me jelous... No more! Bonus point that the look uses stuff I have anyway. As for the trick: You lay down an aqua topper over your base color, and then go crazy dropping in regular colors. They will bloom :) Products: Essie Smooth-e base, Essie Mademoiselle, Moyra Aqua top coat, Essie Booties on Broadway, Essie Salt water happy, Uberchic Satin Brass, OPI Gel plump Effect top coat. submitted by /u/Terrible-Benefit7919 to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

Why do my nails peel after wearing nail polish?
Whenever I wear nail polish for 2-3 weeks in a row (I strip and re-apply about every 7 days), the tips of some of my nails start to peel. Is there something I can do to prevent this? When I start happening I generally stop wearing polish for a few weeks until the damaged parts of the nails grow out and I can cut them off. I typically use OPI Nail Envy as a base coat (though this happened with other base coats), ILNP or Essie polish, and the Sally Hansen red bottle quick dry top coat (though it's happened with other top coats). I've tried multiple nail polish removers too, from store brand to 100% acetone. I also use Bliss Kiss on my cuticles and nails. I'd appreciate any advice you all have! I hate taking breaks from having pretty nails :( submitted by /u/IceWombat88 to r/Nailpolish [link] [comments]

Is it bad to keep OPI nail envy on for more than a week long?

Opinion on OPI Nail Polish
I just had a question I thought to ask, but overall as a whole is OPI a decent choice when it comes to painting nails with a singular color with a base and top coat? I have seen a couple posts about OPI, but a lot of people were mostly talking about the colors of OPI that they didn't like. Some say the formula was fine, but complained their colors and stuff were really similar. The question I had was if they're a good choice with a base, color, and top coat and will last at least like 2 weeks? If there are any other brands that may be even cheaper than OPI and last as long as they would, like Essie for example as some have recommended that, then I'd appreciate hearing about them too. submitted by /u/ColeCozy to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

I have been using OPI nail envy for a week and my nails are destroyed, help!
My nails have always been super soft and peely, i was at my wits end and decided to try OPI nail envy to at least protect them from ripping off. But now its 10x worst and i can barely use my hands for anything! I have been oily my cuticle every night for months, but if even clear polish or strenghtener are making it worst…what can i do? Traditional nail polish without chips after 15 days
I get my traditional nail polish to last two full weeks without chipping. Here are a few tips if you are interested... Nail health You need healthy nails for your polish to bond with the nails properly. Eat well, take vitamins, use cuticle oil and hand cream... Don't use your nails as tools. Prep your nails I prep my nails before manicure with cuticle remover, and gently remove all dead skin that prevents the nail polish from bonding with the nails. Buffing the nails a little bit before applying nail polish also helps - just remove shine, don't buff aggressively. Nail polish quality Good quality nail polish with base coat and top coat. No excuses. I like Essie, OPI and CND vinylux, they are a good value for money. Application Base coat on completely dry nails and then two thin layers of polish (three for some colors) and finally, top coat. I wait until each coat is dry before applying the next one. The application process lasts longer, but your nail polish will last way longer this way. Care Cuticle oil and hand cream at least two times a day. Use gloves for cleaning and doing the dishes. Wash your hands with gentle soap. I also find that an extra layer of top coat after 3 or 4 days prolongs the manicure. Enjoy! submitted by /u/Alsaflo to r/Nails [link] [comments]

They only took me 5 hours and a piece of my sanity. Base coats: one coat OPI nail envy original, one coat OPI natural nail base coat. Color coats: one coat ORLY bare rose on the entire nail, green is OPI that's Hula-rious!, Yellow is OPI bee-hind the scenes, pink is OPI hopelessly devoted to OPI.
