Outdoor Grill Station Woodworking Plans
https://cashflowmanifest.com/outdoor-grill-station-woodworking-plans/ If you’re a cooking enthusiast and enjoy spending time outdoors, an outdoor grill station can greatly enhance your culinary experience. Creating your own grill station using woodworking plans not only saves money but also allows you to customize it to suit your specific needs and style. Outdoor grill station woodworking plans provide a detailed guide that makes DIY building approachable for anyone looking to add functionality and aesthetic appeal to their backyard or patio. When selecting outdoor grill station woodworking plans, consider the materials and functionality that you desire. Plans often include detailed blueprints for the structure, which may feature shelves for prep work, storage for grilling tools, and a designated area for the grill itself. Cedar, redwood, and pressure-treated lumber are popular choices for durability and resistance to the elements. Ensuring proper dimensions is crucial as well; the layout should accommodate your grilling equipment while providing ample space for food preparation and serving. A comprehensive plan typically involves the following components: Base Structure: A sturdy base is essential for stability. Ensure that the plans specify a robust frame that can support the weight of the grill and any additional features. Countertops: Consider using weather-resistant composite materials for countertops, providing ample space for food and utensils. Storage Solutions: Plans should highlight areas for tool storage, including cabinets or open shelving for easy access. Design Elements: Adding custom touches such as lighting or built-in seating can enhance your grill station. With the right outdoor grill station woodworking plans, you can transform your backyard into a culinary paradise. Not only does it serve as a functional cooking area, but it also becomes a focal point for gatherings, making your outdoor living space more inviting. Dive into your woodworking project today and enjoy the benefits for years to come! https://cashflowmanifest.com/outdoor-grill-station-woodworking-plans/ submitted by /u/affiliate1287 to r/GreenThumbHub [link] [comments]

Explore Brand-Man Hoss 6 Burner Griddle Grill Combo Review for Outdoor Cooking
The Brandman BMHOS-GGD Griddle Grill Combo 6-Burner has quickly become a stand-out feature in my outdoor cooking setup. While testing it over several weekends for backyard barbecues, family gatherings, and lazy Sunday breakfasts, I found it to be an impressive all-in-one propane gas grill and griddle. It has a blend of high-power functionality, efficient design, and versatility that easily meets the demands of both casual users and BBQ enthusiasts. Design and Build Quality What caught my attention initially was the robust design. The combination of stainless steel, alloy steel, and cast iron materials gives this product a durable and premium feel. At around 98.8 pounds, it’s hefty, but not unmanageably so, thanks to its heavy-duty wheels and lockable casters. The outer black finish, which is powder-coated to resist weather and rust, adds a touch of modern elegance to any backyard. With a spacious 22.4"x64"x42.2" dimension, it offers enough cooking real estate while still being compact enough for most patios. Plus, the two separate lids provide flexibility, allowing grill and griddle use side by side—a feature I relied on heavily when cooking for a larger crowd. Cooking Flexibility and Performance Cooking options are where this product really takes the prize. Dual-zone cooking is a game-changer, enabling independent temperature control for the grill and griddle. I tested this by grilling steak on one side while sautéing vegetables on the other—it worked flawlessly. The six adjustable burners deliver up to 60,000 BTUs of heat, ensuring consistent and even cooking across the entire surface. Even when the grill space was packed with multiple dishes, I never noticed uneven heat spots, which says a lot about its engineering. Spacious Grilling Space With 678 square inches of cooking area, the grill is a dream for entertaining large groups. During one of my Sunday BBQs, I managed to fit eight burgers, three racks of ribs, and a few veggie skewers all in one go. The durable cast iron grates are solid and hold heat exceptionally well, while the porcelain-enameled warming rack keeps food warm without overcooking. Time to see Brandman BMHOS-GGD cost on Amazon. Ease of Use and Organization Another feature I appreciated was its practicality during setup and use. The folding side shelves were lifesavers for managing plates, utensils, or prep items—especially when juggling multiple tasks. Grill tools stay conveniently accessible thanks to the hooks on the side. What stood out the most, though, was the front panel that doubles as a condiment station. It’s the kind of detail that makes a big difference when trying to create the optimal outdoor cooking workflow. Efficient Cleanup Post-BBQ cleanup can be a dreaded chore, but this product simplifies the process significantly. The full-sized slide-out grease tray is a blessing. After cooking a greasy breakfast—think pancakes and bacon—I just slid it out, wiped it down, and was ready to go. However, I do feel the grease tray could use a slightly more streamlined mechanism for locking it in place, as it felt a bit loose when reinstalled. Key Benefits - Versatile 2-in-1 grill and griddle combination for flexibility. - Massive 678 sq. in. cooking space, great for large gatherings. - Durable build with rust-resistant, powder-coated finishing. - Independent burner heat zones for precise cooking. - User-friendly design with side shelves, tool hooks, and a condiment station. Disadvantages - Assembly is required and might need two people due to weight. - The grease tray mechanism could be sturdier. - At nearly 100 pounds, it’s not ideal for frequent repositioning. Competing Brands Compared to other popular dual-function grills like Blackstone or Weber models, the Brandman Griddle Grill Combo holds its ground due to its better-integrated organization features (shoutout to that condiment station!) and powerful 60,000 BTU burners. While Blackstone models offer a smoother grease management system, I felt the Brandman compensates by combining premium materials and clever design details. Price Performance Assessing cost-effectiveness, this grill offers immense bang for your buck. With the quality materials, significant cooking area, and innovative dual-lid design, its price feels justified. Other grills with similar features are often at a higher price point or lack standout elements like the dual-zone heat setup. While the upfront investment might feel steep, the durability and performance make this an expenditure you can easily rationalize if you’re serious about outdoor cooking. Could Gas One Flat Top Grill B-7400S Redefine Your Outdoor Cooking Experience Review?
Cooking outdoors has always been one of my favorite ways to unwind and spend time with family and friends, and having the right equipment makes all the difference. Recently, I had the chance to put the Gas One B-7400S Flat Top Grill through its paces during a backyard BBQ, a weekend camping trip, and even a quick outdoor breakfast experiment. It’s marketed as a premium propane grill with a host of features aimed at making cooking easier and more enjoyable, so I was eager to see if it lived up to the hype. Here’s what I found while using this portable grilling station. Design and Build Quality The first thing that struck me about this grill was its sturdy stainless steel construction. It immediately gave off a durable, professional vibe. Between the sleek finish and its robust build, you can tell it’s made to last. The flat top with the pre-seasoned griddle is a smart touch that enhances flavor right out of the box, without the mess of immediate seasoning. Measuring in at 33" wide and standing around 15” high, it offers just enough space for cooking hearty meals without dominating the patio or backyard. The detachable cart is a game-changer for portability. I could easily wheel it into position for a BBQ at home, and removing the cart made it compact enough to toss in the back of the truck for a camping trip. Assembly wasn’t overly complicated, but expect to spend a good 20 minutes setting everything up—make sure you’ve got some patience on hand! Performance and Heat Distribution By far, the highlight of this flat-top propane grill is its consistent and controlled heating. Equipped with an innovative H-pipe burner head, it evenly distributes heat across the entire cooking surface. I tested it by grilling burgers on one side while searing some veggies on the other, and everything came out evenly cooked. No random hot spots or uneven patches here. That’s something I haven’t always been able to say about other grills in this price range. This grill's four burners pump out an adequately high output, which I noticed helped in situations where speed was crucial. One morning, I had to whip up a quick batch of pancakes and bacon before a hiking trip. The heat was quick to adjust, ensuring I wasn’t waiting forever for the surface to heat up. Having the control knobs gave me the ability to fine-tune the temperature for precise cooking, whether I was going for a slow sear or a quick char. Check [Gas One B-7400S] price on Amazon. Ease of Use and Cleaning Not every grill prioritizes user-friendliness as much as this one, but I was happy with how approachable this unit was. The auto-ignition feature was incredibly convenient, sparing me the frustrating hunt for matches or lighters. With a single dial turn, I was ready to cook almost immediately. The built-in drip tray is another big win for mess management. During my backyard BBQ session, a lot of grease and food particles found their way into the tray rather than splattering the ground or sticking stubbornly to the griddle. Cleaning the stainless steel body afterward was straightforward; a simple wipe-down with soapy water did the trick. That said, the grill does weigh 44 pounds, so moving it for heavier cleaning sessions requires a bit of elbow grease. Highlights Sturdy stainless steel body for durability Quick and even heat distribution via the H-pipe burner Convenient detachable cart for portability Pre-seasoned griddle enhances food flavor Easy-to-clean design with a drip tray Areas for Improvement While this grill excels in many areas, it’s not without flaws. One thing I noticed when testing it in slightly windy weather was how the burners occasionally struggled to maintain consistent heat. Another minor inconvenience is the assembly process. It’s not overly difficult, but the instructions could benefit from clearer visuals. I’d recommend having an extra pair of hands available, especially if it’s your first time setting it up. Alternative Offerings There are definitely competing options in this category. One such competitor is the Blackstone Flat Top Grill, which also features a pre-seasoned cooking surface and a sturdy design. However, the Blackstone model tends to come with a heftier price tag, making the Gas One product a more budget-friendly option. Another alternative is the Camp Chef Flat Top Grill, which offers similar heat output but lacks the portability of Gas One’s detachable cart. While the Blackstone has more expansive accessories and add-ons, the Gas One grill’s lightweight frame and compact design stand out for people who plan to move their grill often. If portability isn't your top concern, though, exploring heavier, stationary competitors might be worth looking into. Quality for Price Considering its features, this propane grill delivers solid value for its price point. The auto ignition, pre-seasoned griddle, and sturdy stainless steel body all make it feel like a premium product without blowing the budget. While some grills in this category can feel flimsy or overly basic, this one offers a good balance between functionality and sturdiness. Sure, it’s not perfect—there are minor assembly quirks and a slight vulnerability in windy conditions—but for the cost, you get an impressive amount of versatility. Ready to buy Gas One B-7400S? Is the Ninja Woodfire Pro XL Outdoor Grill & Smoker Worth It? A Bad Reviewers Analysis
Can a pellet grill under 500 dollars really deliver restaurant-quality smoke rings, or is it just another overhyped outdoor cooking grill gathering dust on discount racks? When I spotted the Ninja Woodfire Pro XL review requests flooding the forums at its sale price of $299.99 (down from $399.99), I had to find out if this grill and smoker combo truly lives up to the buzz. I chose it for its aggressive sale price, promise of deep smoke flavor, and 3-in-1 versatility—my typical use case includes weekend backyard BBQs, family cookouts, and low-and-slow ribs. Additional Features The Woodfire Pro XL’s 3-in-1 design integrates an electric pellet hopper, charcoal tray, and slide-and-sear sear grate. Switching from wood pellet smoker grill mode to direct-fire charcoal takes under two minutes—just slide the drawer, add charcoal, and ignite. The built-in probe and PID controller maintain temperatures within ±5°F, so you can let it run unattended for brisket cookouts or rotisserie chicken sessions. This backyard smoker grill also includes a 3-position smoke selector (½, 1, and 2 hours of smoke), plus a dedicated sear zone that reaches 1,000°F for perfect steak maillard crust. The included cover and tool hooks round out a package full of convenience extras. Performance & Results In pellet-mode tests, the Ninja maintained a steady 225°F for 6-hour salmon smoking sessions, infusing sweet applewood flavor without flare-ups. Temperature swings never exceeded 10°F, showing the PID system’s reliability. The 22-lb hopper capacity lasted over 8 hours on low-and-slow settings, so you’re not tethered to the kitchen. Switch to charcoal mode and the slide-and-sear grate delivered a true outdoor grill & smoker review highlight: perfect cross-hatch sear marks on New York strips in under 90 seconds per side. The flavor profile in charcoal mode outpaced electric grills by miles, making this one of the few value for money grill bargains that handles both low-and-slow and hot-and-fast brilliantly. Safety & Maintenance A sealed pellet hopper and downward-firing combustion system minimize flare-ups and ash blowback, earning the Ninja a strong safety grade. The grease tray and ash catch slide out for tool-free cleaning, though you’ll want to empty the pellet chamber every few cooks to prevent moisture buildup. Periodic deep-cleaning involves removing the firepot and wiping down the smoke box—tasks made easier by the tool-free access panel. The stainless-steel grates and powder-coat exterior resist rust, but I recommend a light coat of cooking oil on grates before extended storage to guard against corrosion. Core Specifications Cooking Area: 784 sq. in. (primary 664 + warming rack 120) Temperature Range: 180–600°F Hopper Capacity: 22 lbs of wood pellets Power: 120V, 1,125W pellet auger and fan Materials: Stainless-steel firepot, powder-coat steel body Dimensions (L×W×H): 48×25×47 inches; Weight: 100 lbs These specs place it squarely among the best pellet grill 2025 contenders for serious backyard chefs seeking versatility and performance without a premium price tag. Ease of Use & Controls The digital control panel features a scroll-and-click dial for set-and-forget operation. Preheat to 450°F takes under 10 minutes in pellet mode, and the clear LED display shows set vs. actual temperature at a glance. Switching modes requires no tools—just twist-lock the charcoal tray and drop it into the oven-style firebox. Wi-Fi connectivity and app control let you monitor cook progress remotely, though the smartphone interface feels basic compared to standalone smart grills. Still, being able to adjust temp and view smoke time from the couch adds genuine convenience for hosting duties. Build Quality & Durability The Ninja’s heavy-gauge steel construction and reinforced legs provide rock-solid stability—even during heavy charcoal searing sessions. Welds and seams remain tight after dozens of cooks, and the powder-coat finish resists scratches and rust in typical backyard conditions. The hopper mechanism and auger motor feel more durable than entry-level pellet grills, though the exposed fan housing could benefit from a metal guard. Overall, the build quality punches above its pellet grill under 500 price point, showing thoughtful engineering in high-wear components. Pros & Cons Pros: 3-in-1 grill, smoker, and sear station Precise PID temperature control ±5°F Generous 784 sq. in. cooking area 22-lb pellet capacity for all-night smokes Rapid high-heat sear zone at 1,000°F Cons: Bulkier footprint than standard smokers App controls feel basic Exposed fan housing requires caution Occasional pellet bridging in the hopper Value Proposition & Price Analysis At $299.99 (down from $399.99), the Ninja Woodfire Pro XL stands out as the value leader among grill and smoker combo options. Compared to the Weber Spirit II E-310 ($399), Traeger Pro 575 ($699), and Pit Boss Austin XL ($449), the Woodfire delivers comparable smoke consistency and high-heat searing at roughly half the cost. Label it the best pellet grill under 500 for backyard chefs who demand versatility without a premium outlay. 🔥 Would I recommend the Ninja Woodfire Pro XL to backyard grill masters seeking smoke-plus-sear flexibility on a budget? Absolutely. This hybrid grill & smoker proves that you don’t need a $700 Traeger to nail low-and-slow ribs one day and sear steaks the next. While it’s sizable in your backyard, its 3-in-1 performance, precise temperature control, and robust build make it a standout value for money grill. submitted by /u/karimsalah97 to r/badreviewer [link] [comments]

Outdoor “work station”
Between our smoker, Blackstone, and grill, it has become clear that we need somewhere to prep our food outside. I want to get my husband something for Father’s Day. Does anyone have something they can recommend? Or are we just using a general folding table? 😆 submitted by /u/Cbiggs85 to r/grilling [link] [comments]

Help - Outdoor Kitchen/Grill Station on a Deck?
I'm in the early stages of planning this project but had a realization - is it okay to do this on a Trex deck? I'm not going to bolt it down and will probably place it on some scrap Trex pieces or metal feet. Will the sheer weight of it cause issues to the deck? Also realized - it will be sitting close to the composite railing and possibly the side of my house (siding exterior) if I do an L-shaped. Will the heat cause a problem to the railing/siding? How far should I keep it from each? I'm planning on tiling the sides, including the back side - will it be too heavy to move to get access to the back? The picture I uploaded shows the approximate location. If I do a linear design it will be a long the railing, if I do an L-shaped it will be a long the siding and railing. Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/Google-Tesla to r/OutdoorKitchens [link] [comments]

Suggestions for Material Selection for Outdoor Grill Station
These days I really only have time for two hobbies--woodworking and smoking meat. I've decided I need to build a grilling station in my back yard which will house a kamado smoker on cement blocks and drawers/cabinets for my various grilling/smoking supplies. My question is--what material would you all recommend for this? The frame will be 2x4 of course, but what about the exposed wood? I considered cedar for weather resistance, but I'm unsure how it would hold up to mild heat and the various oils/sauces that inevitably will spill, because whatever I treat it with needs to be food safe. Also, for unrelated reasons I can't put a pergola or roof over this thing so it needs to be pretty weather resistant. I also want to integrate a large cutting/prep board as well, and that typically calls for hardwood of some kind. Anyone have any experience with this type of project or suggestions otherwise? submitted by /u/Tuffwith2Fs to r/woodworking [link] [comments]

DIY Outdoor Wok Station
After getting the PowerFlame 160 (awesome btw), I quickly discovered that I needed a proper station for this thing. I wasn’t happy with the off-the-shelf options available because none of them looked super sturdy or had any sort of wind or splash protection so I decided to DIY. I was previously flinging oil and food all over my deck so the wind/splash guard piece was critical. This was my first time welding but it went smoothly overall. The station is almost entirely made out of 16 gauge carbon steel except for the wind guard which is made out 24 gauge and the sheet the wok ring sits on which is 14 gauge. The wind guard was by far the hardest part to weld because my gun would burn through even at the lowest setting, so I had to repair a lot of holes and make tiny stitches. I probably could have made the wind guard removable but that seemed like more effort and it would be more flimsy. I sprayed it with a few cans of rustoleum high temp grill paint, which was laying down so poorly, so I ended up grabbing a few $2 cans of black gloss to touch it up as I didn’t feel like the high temp was doing a good job. Not the prettiest paint job but I expect it to get a bit dirty from cooking with time anyhow. Hopefully the paint holds up to the heat. I’ll throw a grill cover on it to protect it from the elements. As far as cost goes, it was a little less than $250 in material and under 10 hours of labor. All inspiration goes to this here: https://www.instructables.com/Homemade-Outdoor-Wok-Station/ Now I need to practice getting that wok hei! submitted by /u/ChocPretz to r/wok [link] [comments]

I built a Weber grill station for under $500
I was looking at outdoor kitchen kits online and couldn’t find anything under $5k so I built my own. I used mostly 2x4 framing. I used spacing and cement board around the grill so no wood is near heat. The Weber was a freebie of FB marketplace. The doors and drawers were the biggest cost at around $320 including a garbage can slide out. The shell is made out of pickets from an old fence I tore out. I made two cement counters from melamine forms and rapid set mortar. submitted by /u/beaulook to r/webergrills [link] [comments]

I just bought the Outdoor Cuisinart Wok Station.
I’ve only used it once so far, but I like it. I’m an avid home cook, and love cooking outdoors. I use sous vide, a combi oven, pellet smoker, pizza oven, and flat top grill. I’ve been wanting to get into wok cooking for a while. I have a flat bottom wok that I use on the stove but I don’t love the experience. One day this popped into my feed and next thing you know I’m assembling it. I’m not handy, so I would never consider building my own, and I just love the turnkey solution. It was on sale for $299. Might be the new price for all I know. But for 50K BTUs and what appears to be a decent wok, I bit. One issue, the igniter didn’t work, so I called support, that was fun. You have to email, not Cuisinart. They sent me a new igniter. This one at least makes noise, but still doesn’t starter, so for now I’m using a bbq lighter. After I seasoned the wok the first thing I made was a quick Chicken stir fry on my new outdoor wok station. Chicken thighs sliced, washed, and velveted/marinated. Broccoli, carrot ribbons, onions, scallions, mushrooms, and orange bell peppers. Sauce was a mix of sweet chili sauce Momofuku Sweet and savory sauce, and rice wine vinegar. Overall I was pleased with the experience and the food. Got a little wok hei and had some fun. I look forward to doing a lot more cooking on it. submitted by /u/No_Pattern3088 to r/wok [link] [comments]

Cuisinart Outdoor Wok Station CGG-1265 just began sales
I just ordered this wok station. I’ve been checking the site everyday and they finally started sales. I hope it ends up being decent. I’m sure it’s a good upgrade from my indoor stove. Btw, I gave them my email address and they sent me the code “subscribe10” for 10% off. I assume this works without having to subscribe to their newsletters. Anyways, I’ll post pics and test it out as soon as it shows up. I cannot wait to try it out! submitted by /u/The_Fjordster to r/carbonsteel [link] [comments]

That time my coworker tried to use a menstrual cycle as a put down
At the time of this incident, I was in my early 20’s. I had been in food service for about 6 years. I was the only female grill cook this restaurant had ever had. For the uninitiated, the grill cook position is highly respected. Now, this evening’s service we are cooking in the second, smaller kitchen of the restaurant. It is only open during hella-busy times of the year. The grill station is at the end of a straight line formation. I have to bustle past all other stations to get to walk-in coolers to restock throughout the night. Our fry-guy (at the beginning of this line) has stocked enough boxes of French fries in the way of getting out for every cook to complain. But I’m the loudest. At close to closing time, all are resetting their stations. I was headed to the outdoor walk-in refrigerator, continuing my lambast of his poor teamanship, when he came up with the most brilliant of ways to shut me up! As I opened the back door, with the staff smoking area adjacent, he calls out “What is your problem! Are you on the RAG?!” Without closing the door, I turned toward this little cretin and exclaimed “LET ME TELL YOU WHAT!! If you are SO interested in when there is BLOOD in my panties, I will get you a Calendar!. And every day that I bleed, I will put a BIG. RED. X!!!. That way, you will KNOW if I am “On The Rag” or just PISSED OFF WITH YOUR SHIT!!!. Best part of this: A few months later, an FNG (effing new guy in restaurant parlance) is being corrected, by me, on some prep he’s doing for my station. As I walk away, I overhear FNG mutter “What’s her deal?! Is it ‘her time of month?” I then hear fry-guy state, adamantly, “DON’T go there!!” submitted by /u/GrandOpening to r/pettyrevenge [link] [comments]

Explain Like I'm Goofy: Disneyland Resort Reopening Information and FAQ
Hi everyone!! We know there are a lot of questions related to reopening, how it will work, how things will progress, and what will be available. Here's some information about reopening that may be helpful! If you have more questions, feel free to add them in the comments here or in our pinned weekly trip planning thread. The below guide is also available in our FAQ wiki here! 2021 Park Reopening: Know Before You Go Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure are officially reopened as of April 30th, 2021! After over a year of closure, we are so excited for so many of you to begin planning visits to Disneyland Resort again. Below is a quick overview of what to expect from Disneyland upon initial reopening. We will do our best to update this sheet as more dates are announced and if any protocols or rules change. Dates and Hours Disneyland Park is open 8 AM - 11 PM daily. Disney California Adventure Park is open 8 AM - 10 PM daily, except on Oogie Boogie Bash dates , when it closes at 6 PM for non-party guests. Oogie Boogie Bash dates are every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 9/9 - 10/31 as well as two Saturdays (9/11 and 10/30). Please see the holiday section of this guide for more information. Reservations for park days are currently becoming available 120 days in advance, sometime between midnight and 8 AM (it seems inconsistent so far). At this time, Magic Morning and Extra Magic Hour are both on pause. Dining reservations are opening at most 60 days in advance, although please note that most restaurants have not been sticking to this schedule and have been inconsistent as far as when more reservations are released. Dining reservations have been released in chunks, and availability and schedule of release has varied by restaurant. Ticket booths are open at the parks as of April 30th. Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is open as of June 4th. Out-of-state guests can visit the parks again beginning June 15th. Fireworks have returned to Disneyland resort, and other small-scale entertainment is slowly returning. Other large shows, such as the Magic Happens Parade, Fantasmic, and World of Color, remain paused with no estimated return date. Tickets and Reservations In order to visit the park, you will have to purchase a valid ticket as well as make a park reservation for each day of your ticket. Both one park per day and park hopper tickets are available, and both require a reservation at either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure. If you purchase a park hopper ticket, your reservation determines which park you will start your day at. You will be able to park hop starting at 1 PM as capacity allows. So far, there have not been any issues where a park being at capacity has prevented a guest from park hopping. Disneyland has created a process where you can purchase a ticket and create a reservation in one step! You can do so here. You can purchase tickets here if you want to buy a ticket without making a reservation. If you already purchased a ticket without making a reservation, you can make park reservations here. You can check what dates are currently available for park reservations here. One day tickets are tiered based on perceived demand for any given day, with price varying by tier. You can check what tier tickets are valid for which days here. While one day tickets vary in price by day, all multi-day tickets are at a fixed price and valid for any day. If you purchase multi-day tickets, all reservations must be booked within a two-week period. This means if I purchase a three-day park hopper ticket and reserve my earliest day as June 1st, my latest day on that ticket would have to be June 14th or earlier. If you would like to visit on two dates that are more than 14 days apart, you will need to purchase separate tickets. Multi-day tickets can also be purchased from third-party travel sites (such as GetAwayToday, UndercoverTourist, or aResTravel) or from membership benefit sites (such as TicketsAtWork or AAA), usually for a slight discount. If you purchase tickets third-party, you must link your tickets to the Disneyland app via the barcode or ticket number before you can make your park reservations. Single-day tickets can only be purchased directly from the Disneyland website. Magic Key Passes (the successor to Annual Passes) have arrived! There are four different Magic Key Pass tiers, all with different blockout dates and different additional perks. You can purchase a Magic Key Pass here. COVID Health and Safety Measures Masks are no longer required outdoors, but are currently required indoors for all guests. Masks for all guests ages 2 and up are also still be required on the Toy Story parking shuttles. Social distancing markers in queues have been removed, and ride vehicles are no longer distancing parties when seating guests. Attractions have also resumed using their indoor queuing areas. Attractions and queues that had installed plexiglass barriers have removed those barriers. Rides that had temporarily suspended pre-shows have resumed those pre-shows. Single Rider lines have returned. FastPass has not returned and is not expected to return, as Disneyland is transitioning to a new Lightning Lane system with the upcoming launch of Genie+ expected later this year. Please see this page for more information about Genie+. Temperature checks are no conducted at security to enter the resort. Hand sanitizing station remain in place throughout the resort. Park capacity is expected to eventually return to normal but will slowly increase to normal as staffing allows. Disney is continuing to hire, re-hire, and train staff. Reservations will continue to remain in effect for the forseeable future as needed by Disney in order to keep capacity in line with available staffing. Disneyland Resort Hotels All Disneyland hotels have now reopened! At the Grand Californian Hotel, all dining locations are reopened - Craftsman Bar, Craftsman Grill, and Hearthstone Lounge, Storyteller's Cafe, and Napa Rose. Storytellers Cafe is back to standard buffet with characters, and Napa Rose's Princess character breakfast has also returned. Chef's Table remains unavailable at Napa Rose. The Paradise Pier Hotel does not have any open dining locations on site at this time. However, guests have access to the dining options at the Grand Californian and will also be able to get delivery to the lobby from select Downtown Disney locations. GCH and PPH guests can to access QR codes for these menus from their hotel room TVs and place mobile delivery orders for lobby pickup. All dining has reopened at Disneyland Hotel - Coffee House, Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar (currently testing reservations), Tangaroa Terrace, and Goofy's Kitchen (character dining returning 9/16). Steakhouse 55 has unfortunately closed permanently. Additionally, the entrance from the GCH directly into DCA is reopened for guests starting May 28th. Right now, the GCH is still only available to resort guests who are either staying at the GCH or having a dining reservation/mobile order pickup at the GCH. You can make a reservation for the Grand Californian here, for the Paradise Pier Hotel here, and for the Disneyland Hotel here. We recommend you purchase park tickets and make park reservations first in order to guarantee that you will be able to visit the parks during your planned stay. In addition, several Good Neighbor Hotels (non-Disney hotels in the area) are open and are also options for guests visiting from out of town. The on-property hotels are simply premium options for guests who prefer to stay on resort. Parking Parking is available at the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure and the Pixar Pals Parking Structure, which are right next to each other. The Toy Story Parking Area has also reopened. Masks will be required for all guests on the Toy Story shuttle who are over the age of 2. Parking costs $25 per vehicle per day. While it is not required, you can opt to pre-pay for parking here or pay when you arrive. Currently, the Disneyland website says that the parking structures will open 30 minutes before park opening. At this time, the tram between the Mickey and Friends/Pixar Pals parking structures and the esplanade is not running, and guests are being asked to walk the tram route. Please note that we are not expecting the return of trams anytime soon, as rumor is that they will not be returning in their previous form and an electric tram system may return in the future. If you do not wish to or are not able to walk from parking to the park, we recommend parking at Toy Story and using the shuttle. If you require a wheelchair or ECV for transport along the tram route, those will be available for rental at Mickey and Friends/Pixar Pals. Avengers Campus Avengers Campus opened June 4th at Disney California Adventure! No special admission or reservation is required to visit - as long as you have valid admission to DCA, you will be able to check out Avengers Campus. Avengers Campus is currently using a physical standby queue as needed if the land reaches capacity. If you have a boarding group for WEB Slingers that has been called (see below for more info), you do not have to wait in this standby queue to enter the land if it the standby queue is currently being used. Mobile orders to Pym Test Kitchen or Pym Tasting Lab will not allow you to bypass the standby queue if it is currently being used. Please note that the queue has not been used since the first week of Avengers Campus, but it can return at any time if needed. Aside from shopping, which is also available, the following experiences are available at Avengers Campus: Attractions at Avengers Campus WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure is a brand new ride for all ages and heights. A virtual queue is currently being used and is required to to access this ride. The Ancient Sanctum is a Doctor Strange experience, featuring a small show helping guests learn about the Mystic Arts from the master himself. Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! is the same ride that has already been at DCA for a few years, it's just part of Avengers Campus now instead of Hollywood Land! Another attraction is expected to open at Avengers Campus in the future, though this is a couple years off as far as we know. There are also lots of character interactions available, including some stunt shows at WEB Slingers and at the Avengers HQ. Dining at Avengers Campus Pym Test Kitchen is a quick service location inspired by Ant-Man and the Wasp serving bar-style bites and often experimenting with food size. Mobile order is available, with order windows being released periodically throughout the day. Pym Tasting Lab is a quick service beer garden adjacent to Pym Test Kitchen serving beers, wines, and experimental cocktails. Mobile order is available, with order windows being released periodically throughout the day. Shawarma Palace is a quick service cart serving shawarma wraps and Impossible-based falafel wraps. There are two locations at the moment, Shawarma Palace (central to the campus, near headquarters) and Shawarma Palace Too (by the Hyperion Theatre). Terran Treats is a snack cart by GOTG serving unusually flavored colorful churro spirals and a cream puff pastry. Full menus are available online for these location with pricing, and there is also a full foodie guide for Avengers Campus available here. Halloween and Winter Holidays at Disneyland Resort Holiday seasons at Disney are back! Here's what to expect for seasonal Disney through the end of 2021. Disneyland Park will remain open as normal, and guests in DCA who have park hopper tickets will be able to finish their night at Disneyland Park. If you have one park per day tickets, we STRONGLY recommend not reserving DCA on Oogie Boogie Bash dates if you are not attending the party. Oogie Boogie Bash tickets are sold out, but you can learn more about the event here. Winter Holidays: 11/12 - 1/9 Holiday season at Disneyland Resort will be celebrated November 12th, 2021-January 9th, 2022. During this time, both parks receive special seasonal decorations (including a gorgeous wintery overlay to Sleeping Beauty's Castle), seasonal music, and seasonal treats. You may also spot rare characters throughout the parks and also see Mickey and Friends dressed in holiday attire. Santa Claus is usually also available to meet with guests in both Disneyland Park (at Pooh's Corner in Critter Country) and DCA (at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail). Some rides receive special seasonal overlays: Continuing from Halloween, Haunted Mansion Holiday will be available through the season. Small World also receives a retheme to Small World Holiday. In Cars Land, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi's Rollicking Roadsters receive minor rethemes with special seasonal music. There is also some large-scale seasonal entertainment included: At Disneyland Park, the "A Christmas Fantasy" Parade and the Believe ... in Holiday Magic fireworks show are both returning. At DCA, the Festival of Holidays will be back! Festival of Holidays is a food and wine festival that will feature tons of booths through Buena Vista Street, Pacific Wharf, and Paradise Gardens park offering special foods from winter holidays across several different cultures and religions. There will also be lots of seasonal entertainment included in the festival. Please note that World of Color: Seasons of Light is not going to be returning this year due to refurbishment currently underway on World of Color. Attractions and Entertainment: What Will and Won't be Open? Fantasmic, World of Color, and the Magic Happens parade remain closed with no estimated return date. Small-scale entertainment (such as Dapper Dans and other in-park performance groups) is beginning to slowly return. Restaurants that are closed may be closed for a variety of reasons, ranging from lack of outdoor space to size of kitchen to staffing issues. The resort is trying to add back as many locations and increase menu sizes as quickly as they are able. At this point, most locations have reopened. Mobile order is going to be the preferred default for most quick service restaurants, with some moving to mobile order only. Please keep reading for our guide to mobile ordering. Most table service locations require reservations, with many of these (but not all) also offering walk-up waitlists within the Disneyland app. You can make reservations on the Disneyland app or website. If you would like a full comparison list of what dining will and won't be open at both parks, please refer to this list. The list also notes which dining locations currently offer mobile order and which are available via reservations. Here is a list of what dining is not yet confirmed to be available: Unavailable Dining at Disneyland Park Clarabelle's (Toontown) Daisy's Diner (Toontown) Pluto's Doghouse (Toontown) Royal Street Veranda (New Orleans Square) Troubador Tavern (Fantasyland) Select vending carts serving ice cream, popcorn, churros, beverages, snacks, and hot foods (most of these have resumed operation) Unavailable Dining at DCA Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta (Paradise Gardens Park) Select vending carts serving ice cream, popcorn, churros, beverages, snacks, and hot foods (most of these have resumed operation) Unavailable Dining at the Disneyland Resort Hotels Character dining at Goofy's Kitchen (Disneyland Hotel - returning 9/16) Steakhouse 55 (Disneyland Hotel - permanently closed) all dining at Paradise Pier hotel Mobile Ordering Almost all quick service restaurants now have mobile ordering available. Due to limited numbers of Cast Members, there are fewer cashiers than usual, so mobile ordering will allow a lot of restaurants to process orders more quickly and efficiently and will save you time standing in an order line and then a separate pickup line. We are also hearing that some locations may opt to do mobile order only. You can see dining menus and mobile order through the Disneyland app - in the bottom right corner, click on the three horizontal bars and then "Mobile Food Orders" or you can also search for a specific restaurant. Click here for a great video guide on how to mobile order! If you are a Legacy Passholder or a Cast Member, your discount should be automatically applied as long as the location is discount eligible. Shopping: What Will and Won't be Open? Almost all shopping locations have reopened! Some smaller shops may still be closed at this time. Specialized shopping experiences like caricatures and the Silhouette Studio are also not available yet, and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has not resumed prince and princess makeovers yet, although they are selling costumes. Pin trading boards are available again as of June 15th. Lightsaber building at Savi's Workshop is be available and can be reserved here. Droid Depot is also open but does not require a reservation. Virtual Queues: Rise of the Resistance and WEB Slingers Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure at Avengers Campus are both only available to ride via a virtual queue system. The queue can be entered via the virtual queues menu on the Disneyland app (click the three lines in the bottom right corner of the app, then go to "Virtual Queues"). The virtual queue will be available at two different points during the day: At 7 AM, the virtual queue will open for all guests starting their day at Disneyland Park (for Rise) or DCA (for WEB Slingers). As long as you have a reservation that day starting at the ride's park, you are eligible to join this window. You can do this from anywhere - it's only checking your reservation status, so there's no park scan or geolocation requirement. At 12 PM, the virtual queue will open again for all guests with valid admission to the ride's park for that day who have scanned into either DL or DCA. This means if you have a DL-start reservation or a DCA-start park hopper reservation, you can try to get a Rise boarding group in this window, and anyone with a DCA-start reservation or a DL-start park hopper reservation can try for WEB Slingers. If you have not scanned into either DL or DCA by noon or do not have a reservation/ticket type that includes the ride's park, you will not be eligible for this window. Additionally, you will not be able to hold both a Rise and a WEB Slingers boarding group at the same time. This means that if you are park hopping got a Rise of the Resistance Boarding group at 7 AM but you have not been called and scanned into the ride by noon, you will not be able to get a WEB Slingers boarding group at noon and will need to remove yourself from your 7 AM boarding group if you have not been called yet and prefer to try for the other ride at noon. Please plan accordingly if you are visiting with park hopper tickets and understand that you may not be able to ride both Rise and WEB Slingers on the same day depending on the timing of your boarding groups. Please also note that there is no guarantee that you will be able to ride either attraction during your visit. For more specific information about boarding groups, please check out our Boarding Group FAQ. Joining the virtual queue is free to all guests and does not require any payment or additional reservation. You just need to have a valid reservation for the parks for that day. Other Frequently Asked Questions Q: I have a park hopper ticket, but when I look at my reservation it says "all day" for the park I booked as my starting park. Is there something wrong with my reservation? A: Nope! This is normal, just confusing language on Disney's part. No matter if you have a one park per day ticket or a park hopper ticket, your reservation is listed as "All Day" for whichever starting park you booked. As long as you have a park hopper ticket, you will be able to park hop starting at 1 PM. In contrast, a one-park per day ticket only gets you access to the park you reserved. Q: Is capacity a worry for park-hopping? A: Nope! There have been no issues so far regarding capacity and park-hopping. It is likely Disney is operating some percentage under max capacity in order to accommodate park hopping. The "capacity allows" language is mainly there as a just in case. Q: Is FastPass/MaxPass available? Or Single Rider? A: FastPasses are not available right now and will not be returning in its previous format - please check above in this guide for a link to learn more about the upcoming Lightning Lane system and Genie+, which will be launching soon at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. MaxPass is not be available for purchase, although you can separately still buy Photopass. Please note that if you are using tickets purchased prior to park closure that already include MaxPass, you are not able to refund MaxPass and will still be able to use the Photopass function of your MaxPass when you use your tickets. Single Rider operations have resumed. Q: Do I need a separate ticket or reservation to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge or Avenger's Campus? A: Nope! Both lands are free to walk into for all guests. No other special reservation is required to visit the land - if you have a valid reservation for Disneyland Park you can visit Galaxy's Edge, and if you have a valid reservation for DCA, you can visit Avenger's Campus. Please note that for Galaxy's Edge, you will need to join a virtual queue in order to ride Rise of the Resistance (Smuggler's Run, the other ride in the land, will have a normal standby line). Please check above for info on how to join the virtual queue. Building lightsabers at Savi's Workshop also requires a separate reservation. Reservations for Savi's are open as of April 22nd and can be made here. Oga's Cantina requires a reservation to visit. At Avengers Campus, WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure will also be using a virtual queue upon opening. Please check above for info on how to join the virtual queue. All dining at Avengers Campus is quick service and does not require a reservation, and there are no additional experiences in the land that require any type of reservation. Q: Can I upgrade my ticket or change my park reservation? A: At this time, you are unable to upgrade tickets within the app. You can call guest services to ask for a refund and purchase a new ticket, but customer service lines are very long to the point where they have now very commonly stopped accepting callers. If you are in the area, you can try upgrading at the ticket booths at the esplanade. If you are trying to upgrade your ticket to a Magic Key Pass, this can usually be done through the app - go to your My Tickets and Passes page, and tickets that are eligible for upgrade will allow you to do so within the app or tell you to see a ticket booth for help upgrading. Please note that the 2021 California resident 3-day ticket is not eligible for an upgrade. In order to change your existing park reservation, you will have to cancel the reservation and make a new one. You can do this here. Q: When will more dining options/hotels/entertainment reopen? A: We don't know. Until Disneyland announces when more things are reopening, we have no idea when certain attractions, dining, or experiences will reopen. Q: I got park hopper tickets. Can I park hop as much as I want after 1 PM, or is it just one time? A: As long as the park you're hopping to isn't at capacity, you should be able to hop back and forth between the two parks as much as you like after 1 PM. However, so far capacity hasn't been an issue for park hopping, and as of now we don't expect it to be. Q: I'm a Legacy Passholder. Can I use my Legacy Passholder discounts at the parks? A: The Legacy Passholder program has terminated. In order to use passholder perks, such as dining/merch discounts and access to the Starcade lounge (available through 10/30) and the Magic Key Terrace (formerly the Alfresco Tasting Terrace), you must buy a new Magic Key Pass. Q: Will Rider Switch or DAS be returning? A: Yes, rider switch and DAS are still available as normal! submitted by /u/kkranberry to r/Disneyland [link] [comments]

Extreme Frugal Tips
Extreme Frugal Tips. Warning this is a REALLY long post Dog Tax: https://imgur.com/gallery/V06K53e Excel finance tracking: https://imgur.com/gallery/bKBkQFf Here we go…I’m posting on my frugal living with REAL examples from my life. Single female aged 48 living in the mid-west. I started my adult life with a high school education and low paying jobs until I hit 30. Today my net worth is more than a million and I love my life…I want for nothing and I’m very content. Read on if you dare…some of this stuff may scare you… Career I didn’t start college till I was 26, prior to that I was in low paying dead-end jobs and as a result I started my adult life being a penny-pincher. I got a BS and 2 MS degrees in the STEM field at state schools while working full time jobs (close to minimum wage till I graduated with my BS). I applied for academic scholarships (and got some) and I took out the minimal I could in student loans. I paid them all back within 5 years. I had to relocate for my first job out of college. It was 2002 and I started out at $44,000 salaried a year (50 hours weeks, no overtime and working on 2 Masters degrees in my free time) So…I started my professional career at age 30, climbed the corporate ladder, relocated several times and went into management. I worked long hours, on-call 24/7, lots of stress and kept increasing my salary for 16 years. I started to contribute to my retirement when I turned 30. As soon as I could (I think around 36 after I paid of my student loan debts) I maxed out my 401K and ROTH every year. At my highest salary, at age 46, I was making $140,000 year (remember – I started at age 30 at $44,000 and increased to $140,000 by the time I was 46). I ALWAYS continued to live frugally and saved. I own my house outright and have no debt and plenty in savings. I don’t have a pension. My retirement is all in a 401K and IRAs, traditional and ROTH Once I was financially established I took a 60% lower paying job at a University. I’m 48 and because I live frugally I could probably retire (FIRE) but I like to have something to do. I also enjoy the social aspect of work and a feeling of purpose. I have no stress, great benefits, loads of time off and have never worked more than 40 hours a week in this job and no weekends, holiday…etc. I set my own hours and have no direct reports. I’m currently working 6:30am – 2:30 pm in the winter so I can hike with my dog after work before it gets dark. It was a very good move for me. I’ll probably work here into my mid 60’s just because it’s so cushy Health I exercise. I walk about 7 miles a day I eat pretty healthy, don’t smoke, don’t drink pop and I don’t drink alcohol (anymore…). Sometimes I miss a good craft beer but it’s better for my stomach and sleep without it I have medical, dental, vision through work. My plans cost me $56 a month I have the high deductible plan and max out my HSA but I only end up using a few hundred a year. Whatever is in my HSA when I retire will help cover retirement medical expenses. My deductible is $2,000. I use the in-network specialists when I need too I work at a university so I use the health center for non-specialist stuff which is $25 co-pay. I get a preventive visit free every year – general physical and well woman/mammogram I pay for prescriptions with my health plan or GoodRX. GoodRX is sometimes cheaper. Also some meds are cheaper if you get a 3 month supply by mail (but not all). Some OTC meds such as generic Claritin for allergies and Generic Prilosec for acid reflux are $0 or cheap if you get a prescription I get 2 dental cleanings and 1 vision exam free every year. I get 1-pair of bifocals free If I need reading glasses they are $1 at Dollar Tree I buy generic ibuprofen / first aid stuff in bulk. I keep it to the basics I never pass on free stuff. My dental plan pays for 2 free cleanings/exam a year, so I ALWAYS get my 2 free cleanings a year. My health plan pays for one free physical a year, so I ALWAYS get my one free physical a year...ALWAYS!!! Food I spend less than $100 a month on food and beverages. I don’t buy any processed food. I cook from scratch in bulk and I freeze. I enjoy cooking. I use lots of veggies in my evening meal. A typical day of food might include: a. 2 large cups of coffee will milk and stevia b. Oatmeal with chia, flax, almond flour, blueberries and a banana OR eggs on homemade toast OR homemade pancakes OR homemade breakfast burritos OR....??? I make my own bread. Yeast, flour, water, salt, stevia and a bread machine I got at Goodwill for $5 c. Fruit or veg snack (seasonal) d. Beans and rice with seasonings (work lunch) e. Fruit or veg snack (seasonal) f. Dinner – might be spaghetti, chilli, chicken noodle soup, lasagna, grilled chicken with veggies, curry. Each meal works out to under $1.50. I don’t use much meat in my recipes but I do use a ton of veg g. Homemade yogurt h. I drink lots of black tea or herbal tea throughout the day. I drink tap water i. I get my fix of sweet stuff at work. Someone’s always bringing in home baked goods 2) I shop at Aldi and Walmart, mostly Aldi 3) I buy all my condiments in bulk: spices, chicken stock, oil, stevia (also concentrated), almond flour, chia, flax, rice, pasta…etc. I get some of this on Amazon because it works out cheaper. I make my own yougurt. 1 gallon yogurt = the price of a gallon of milk. It's easy to do. 4) I love this one…I save my teabags. After I’ve used 2 teabags I make another cup of tea from them. I like herbal tea. The cheapest I can find is Celestial Seasonings on Amazon. By stretching the box of 20 teabags to 30 large cups of tea I save $35 year (assuming I drink 3 cups of tea a day). Over 40 years at 7% interest that’s $1500 saved. It’s not an issue for me and the flavor is the same 5) I only eat out a couple of times a year for social reasons and I don’t buy an appetizer or dessert and I only drink water. I tip 20% if service is good. I refuse to go to expensive restaurants. I want an entrée under $15. Honestly, I like my cooking better 6) I don’t drink pop or alcohol 7) I own a chest freezer and loads of plastic food containers. Most of the meals I cook are freezable and microwavable 8) I buy the large tub of coffee from Aldi. It’s like $4.50 and lasts 3 weeks. Tastes fine to me but then I would never drop $5 + tip on a cup of coffee 9) I only buy meat, fruit and veg when it’s under $1 pound. I make an exception for ground beef and blueberries, raspberries…etc. (they have to be under $1 for 6oz). I don't use much meat. Example: I use 1lb ground beef to make 12 frozen spaghetti dinners BUT I use lots of peppers, onions, mushrooms in-place of the beef.Example. When 8oz packages of baby bella mushrooms go on sale, I buy 12 of them. I wash, chop and cook them and then freeze them in 4 separate containers. Each container will be used in a big batch of spaghetti or Lasagna or mushroom soup., when blueberries go on sale for 0.89 cents for 6oz I buy twelve packages and freeze. 1 package is used to make 10 oatmeal breakfasts 10) I never buy name brand and I always search for reduced fruit/veg, meat…etc. 11) I do check the local flyers for sales. only shop once a week and I combine trips to save gas. House I brought the cheapest house in a really good neighborhood in a mid-west University town. I’m in the third highest rated school district in the USA for STEM (per 2019 Newsweek article). I have a 1950’s 1500sqft, 3 bed, 2 bath ranch with 2-car attached garage, separate laundry room, living and family room, large screened in-porch. I paid $135,000 for it and my taxes are $1500 a year. It’s bigger than I wanted but it’s what I had to do to get into my neighborhood. Houses like mine sell in a day with multiple offers over asking. I had to put some work into the house and spend some $$$. I fixed it up so it’s now one of the nicest houses in the neighborhood and worth 35% more than I paid for it. I did some work myself such as painting and laying the laminate floor. I will stay here until I retire and then decide where I want to spend my retirement years. Central Florida is dirt cheap with no state taxes + low housing costs but I am not sure I can handle the heat and humidity. I have a high deductible on my home insurance but I max out my liability coverage. I have a high net worth so if someone tries to sue me I want to make sure I’m covered and I don’t have to pay out of my pocket. I have extras like sewer/water line coverage, sewer/water back-up because the lines in my neighborhood are old and you see people’s yards dug up all the time. I pay my policy in full and it works out to $75 a month In the winter, I keep my heat at 55 when I’m not home or in bed and 60 when I’m home. I wear wool thermal leggings and tops under my clothes all winter long at home. They are soft and comfy. I wear slippers. When I’m lazing on the couch I snuggle under an electric blanket and with the dog. I have a down comforter on the bed. The dog loves the cold. In the summer I wear shorts and a tank top and I keep the AC around 76 as the dog gets too hot I change my furnace filters every 2 months with the cheap ones I keep my water heating on a warm setting. When I run the shower I turn the hot all the way and it’s plenty hot enough for me Household maintenance/repairs I cut my own grass, do my own yard work and clean my own house I do what repairs I can myself. I U-tube it. I buy stuff from Menards and get the 11% rebate. I’m not very handy or physically strong so I only tackle simple things I don’t do a furnace/AC service every year. I lived in my last house 9 years and my furnace/AC were 20 years old when I sold it. I never did a service (other than change filters) and I never had a problem If I have to hire a big job (i.e. roof, furnace, crawlspace) I always get 3 quotes and try to negotiate the price after I’ve received the quote in writing. Then I ask for a cash discount. If I have to replace something I try to go with a quality no-name brand. I do my research I use LED lightbulbs and I turn my lights off when I’m not using a room I unplug appliances if I don’t use them at least every other day. Exception is for larger items like stove, fridge, washer, dyer, freezer Car I enjoy a nice, safe car. I drive a 2008, 12-year old limited edition Subaru outback. I brought it when it was 1-year old with 30,000 miles for cash on E-bay. I paid $20,000 for it. It has 126,000 miles. I will drive it till it dies I only have liability insurance but I max out my coverage. I have a high net worth so if I’m at fault in an accident I want to make sure I’m covered and I don’t have to pay out of my pocket. I also have roadside assistance with my insurance company for towing, flat tire change...etc. I pay in full every 6 months and also have my home-owners insurance policy with them. My car insurance works out to $40 a month I get an oil change, tire rotation and fluid top-off every 5,000 miles with a coupon for $19.99. It’s a local place and they are really good about telling me if they see any issues. I replace my own air filters, head lamp bulbs...etc. I take it to a reputable import mechanic when I need too. Much less $ than the dealer I combine errands one day a week to save miles. I live 3.8 miles from work and I do drive an average of 2-4 miles to hike with the dog. I average 6,000 miles a year I keep my car clean. I wash, wax it...etc. myself at home with a garden hose. I don’t use high dollar cleaning products. I use dish soap to wash it and I do a hand wax on it once a year Internet/TV/Cell I have the most basic package Internet available. It’s still expensive at $60 a month and it drives me crazy I have to pay that. I don’t have Cable. I have an antenna for local stations I have Amazon prime (see my post on shopping). I also switch between Netflix, Hulu, Acorn…etc. about every 3 months so I don’t get bored. I stream TV, Movies, Music from my library for free via the Hoopla App. It's 100% FREE!!! Get a library card! I own my smartphone outright and will use it till it dies. I use Mint Mobile ($17 month with tax). 2g data is enough for me as home and work have WIFI Kitchen & Cleaning I do my dishes by hand once a day. I do not fill the sink full with water and I don’t leave my water running when I’m scrubbing. Airdry. Yes, I have a dishwasher, it came with the house, but I just don’t use it. Besides those dishwasher packets are pricey! I use Ajax dish soap that I dilute 1:1 with water and use a pump dispenser. I buy the large bottles at Menards and get the 11% rebate I buy my scrub sponges in a pack from the Dollar Tree. I throw them in the washing machine with my clothes when they get grungy. I have one scrub brush I’ve had for years I wash and reuse my Ziploc baggies over and over. I don’t buy name brand – I get from Dollar tree. Same with tin foil I have loads of microwave/freezer safe plastic food containers. I’ve had them years. I freeze so much food I have a chest freezer I recycle everything I can to reduce the use of trash bags. In-fact I have a tight closing trash can so I only need to start a new trash bag once every 2 weeks as it doesn’t stink up the house. I buy the tough no-name drawstrings ones in bulk. The flimsy ones break or leak and create a mess Don’t use paper towels ever. Use washable cloths, tea towels...etc Don’t buy all the latest gadgets and if you must have something check out your local charity shops, Facebook Marketplace & buy/sell groups or Craigslist I typically stick with 2 cleaning supplies, I could make my own I guess. I use $1 glass cleaner and $1 generic orange cleaner. I wash my floors with diluted dish soap. I have a broom, dustpan/ brush, a Shark vacuum with canister with washable filters (that I brought refurbished for about $80 and I’ve had years), a mop with washable cover. I also use recycled toothbrushes, scrubbie pads and cloths. I don’t use disposable cleaning supplies like disposable wipes, those throw away dusting pads, floor cleaning pads…etc. Everything I use is reusable and washable Laundry Only wash your clothes if they are dirty! I do 1 load of laundry a week for clothes and a couple of loads of laundry a month for my sheets and towels. I rotate my pillows between laundry loads. I shower every day so sheets stay clean and don’t get stinky. Speaking of sheets, I buy high quality 500 thread count cotton sheets - they are so soft and comfy and last for years. A couple of times a year I might wash my blankets, comforter…etc. I wear my dress jeans all week for work and I rarely wash my nice tops/sweaters as I wear a t-shirt under them. I wear my dog walking clothes and wool thermals all week. Wool doesn’t get stinky and dog walking jeans get muddy the first walk so might as well wear them all week. I always wash in luke warm water Airdry clothes or put a large dry towel in the dryer. If I use the dryer I’m typically dry in 20 mins on medium. I’m not frugal here and do use the dryer more often than not. I hate hanging clothes and ironing them I don’t have many white or light colored clothes. They stain too easily. I look better in dark jewel colors anyway I use Purex laundry detergent. I use the 300oz bottle with 200 loads and I really do use the amount they recommend for 1 load so it lasts me a few years. I get it for $8.99 at Menards with an additional 11% rebate. I tried homemade but this is better (for me) If you have to use dryer sheets, cut them into quarters. Personally, I’m fine with nothing in the dryer If you have to use a stain remover add 1 scoop of Dollar Tree Awesome Orange Oxygen cleaner to the washing machine or make a paste and rub into stain (compare to OxyClean) Clothing If I need clothes, which is rarely, I buy everything except underwear and socks from the charity shops. Usually Goodwill on the first Saturday of the month when everything is ½ off Speaking of underwear and socks, I buy dark colored because they don’t look grungy. I have 7 pairs of knickers, 3 bras, 14 pairs of socks as my feet get wet sometimes hiking. That’s it. I rarely have to replace them and yes I do change them every day! I think my current stash of knickers, bras and socks have lasted me over 5 years. I got everything from Kohls when they have a big sale, 30% coupon and $15 cash back if you spend $50. I buy for comfort and durability, not fashion. I have wool socks I buy some shoes new, such as hiking shoes. However I do check the charity shops, Poshmark…etc. for lightly used I have a very minimal wardrobe and shoes. I buy classic clothing and not the latest fad I have a few pieces of jewelry. Sterling silver and amber necklace, earrings ring and also mother of pearl. I have another set that’s real gold with fake diamonds(you can’t tell they are fake). have a few accessories such as scarfs and decorative hair clips Personal care I shower once a day for 5 mins which is comfortable for me and allows a good wash. I turn my shower water off when I shave. I use one high quality soft, thick cotton dark colored towel for everything and wash my towel every couple of weeks with my sheets and linens. I’m clean after a shower and its just water! I’ve had the towel for about 5 years. I do wash my washcloth every week with my clothes I have an electric toothbrush that I’ve had for years. I replace the head every couple of months with a generic one I get of Amazon in a multi-pack. I floss. I have sensitive teeth so I buy a multi-pack of sensitive toothpaste from Amazon. It works out cheaper than Walmart’s house brand. I could get a sensitive toothpaste from Dollar Tree but I don’t trust anything from China to go in or on mine or my dog’s body. I go to the Dentist twice a year for cleaning. This is covered through my work health insurance. I brush my teeth for 2 mins and I don't let the water run when I do this. I don;t rinse my mouth on the advice of my dentist - let the sensitive toothpaste sink in I have very few products. Suave shampoo and conditioner that I transfer into a pump bottle and I use one pump of each every time I shower. I use diluted Dawn dish soap in a pump dispenser to wash my face and body with a washcloth and yes, I love it. I don’t lather up my entire body every time, just my private and sweaty areas. I use a men’s razor from Dollar Tree to shave. I use Suave deodorant. I use a cheap oil free moisturizer on my face. It’s around $5 and it lasts months. I rarely wear make-up and if I do its big box store, basic and the same items (same eyeshadow, blush, lip colors). I haven’t brought any make-up in years. I have one bottle of nice perfume that lasts years. If I curl my hair, put my make-up on and dress up in my charity shop clothes I look like a million bucks for pennies on the dollar! I keep my hair one length with bangs and I don’t color it. I have medium brown hair. I cut my own bangs every couple of months and I get my haircut for $10 once a year at the beauty school or if I can get a $7.99 coupon for Great Clips. I blow dry and curl the bangs and let the rest of it dry naturally. I only use a $2 bottle of hairspray to hold it or I tie it back. I’m often asked about my hair as it’s cute on me and looks shiny and healthy, albeit I’m starting to get some gray I use q-tips but I don’t use tissues, cotton pads, face wipes...etc. A reusable, washable hanky works just fine for a snotty nose. I have eye brow scissors, tweezers, a metal nail file and hair dresser scissors. I’ve had them for years. I use a washcloth on my face I tweeze my own eyebrows and I shave above my lip once a week. I have a $5 magnifying mirror I got from Walmart that helps. Yep, it works fine. Been doing it for over 20 years. Don’t believe the baloney that the hair grows back thicker, longer. I am sans a mustache at all times! I don't get my nails done or paint them. I don't do fake nails, lashes, hair...etc. The only beauty service I pay for is my one haircut a year. I buy toilet paper in bulk. I buy 30 rolls of 425-2 ply sheets from Aldi for $15.99. I always fold my toilet paper. I use 2 sheets folded to ¼ size for #1 and usually need to do this twice for #2. I find the 2-ply a better value than the 1-ply as the 1-ply is so thin that you actually need more I don’t flush my loo every time I pee, especially not during the night. If it’s yellow let is mello – with the lid down of course. My bathroom does not get smelly. Where I live, those water and sewer bills can add up. If you only save $10 a month, over 40 years at 7% interest rate that’s $5,000. Probably too extreme for some of you but in addition to being frugal, I hate to be wasteful! I use a period cup and reusable washable pads. I’ve had mine for years Shopping I don’t buy stuff. At this point in my life, I’m a minimalist I buy used whenever I can. I haggle the price down whenever I can. I use charity shops, Facebook Marketplace and buy/sell groups, Craigslist I sell stuff I don’t use Amazon. I use my Prime membership ALOT. I borrow free books, I watch free movies/TV, I listen to free music on my Echo dot I got on special for $8.99. I do buy some stuff on Amazon but usually from Warehouse Deals. I also use Prime Pantry sometimes to buy food and toiletries but only if it works out cheaper than the store. Recently I got an order of 15 items through Prime Pantry. With Prime Pantry if spend $35 you get free shipping. If you order 15 or more items you get a 15% discount. If you use your Prime credit card you get a further 5% back. I was able to get Celestial Seasonings Tea for $1.93 box of 20 tea bags and 2-pack Suave 2.6oz deodorant for $1.93 (after the discounts) Hobbies I walk the dog twice a day, EVERY day, regardless of snow, rain, extreme heat, extreme cold. It keeps me and him healthy. I do 2 miles around the neighborhood in the morning before work and usually 5 miles after work along trails. He’s usually off-leash. Good hiking shoes/boots and gas are the expense here but I have a variety of trails within a 4 mile radius of my house. On weekends we branch out further to mix it up. I mostly wear my hiking shoes and I can make them last a couple of years (shoe goo is my friend). I use my hiking boots/snow boots for wet, muddy, snowy conditions and they have lasted me many years so far. My dog-walking jeans get worn out between my thighs so I patch them (2 large iron-on denim patches at Walmart for $1. After I iron them on, I also sew the patches around the edges so they don't come off). Dog-walking coats, gloves, hats, vests…etc. never seem to wear out. If I do have to buy dog walking gear I buy quality (I’m currently using Oboz hiking shoes) I read for free. I get books from the library and Amazon Prime. I have an i-pad with the kindle app so I download them. The i-pad is old but it works. I will replace it when it eventually dies I belong to groups on the Internet (like this one…) – hence I use my i-pad, I don’t have a computer, printer, scanner…etc. at home. I use the ones at work I watch TV and movies. I rotate one streaming service every few months. I never pay more than $10 month for these services and I also have my annual Prime membership which is about $11 month. I also stream TV, Movies, Music from my library for free via the Hoopla App I do jigsaw puzzles. I NEVER buy new. I buy them used then sell or trade them. I always come out ahead and make money on them. I used to scoff at people who did jigsaw puzzles but let me tell you, they are very enjoyable! Apparently they make me smarter too… I cook (see food) I go to free events in my community. Art in the park, various concerts, free outdoor activities days…etc. I live in a large multi-cultural University town. There is LOADS of free stuff to do... I have a group of dog walking friends. We meet several times a week (we also trade help with dog walking and pet sitting if we travel) I do try to get back to the UK once a year to see family but I always find a good deal on my flight. A friend watches the dog. I’m not a fan of travelling anymore, in-fact I hate travelling. I would rather have a “staycation” The dog. He’s awesome Yes it’s $. Yes it’s worth it. He’s therapy for my soul He’s a lab mix, AKA mutt. His adoption fee was high ($350) but it went to a good cause. Generally mutts have less health issues I buy high quality food in bulk. It’s rated 5 stars on DogFood Advisor which is the highest rating available and it’s not grain fee (don’t buy into the hype…). I get Victor Hi-Pro Plus 50lb bags. It’s $60. He’s a 3 year old 80-lb extremely active male lab. He gets 3 cups a day as this is extremely nutrient dense food without fillers. It lasts me nearly 2 months. $30 month for food I buy 20-lb dog biscuits for $14 at Menards plus 11% rebate. I break them in half. A bag lasts me about 3 months. It’s his daily junk food treat I buy a 10-lb bag all natural beef bones from a local farm. $5. He usually gets them on weekends and a bag lasts about a month I rotate and repair his soft toys when they get holes in them. He’s had them a few years. I got most of them for 0.50 cents at Goodwill. He inherited his nylabones, tennis balls, leash and collar, food bowl...etc. from my previous dog and they are probably 10 years old. I do buy poop bags but they are $1 for 80 bags from the Dollar Tree. I do not do things like dress my dog up or send him to the groomer or do doggie daycare (I exercise him and he has doggie friends we walk with a few times a week) I spend $300 year for his annual vet visit. This includes an exam, shots, Bordetella and a year of flea/tick and heartworm meds. I buy the heartworm meds with the 4-way de-wormer and Braveco which is a pill every 3 months for fleas and ticks. These are the most expensive but as we hike in the woods daily and he likes to catch small worm/flea ridden furry animals its money well spent. We could go to a low cost shot clinic and save some $ but I like to have a relationship with his vet as it comes in handy I trade pet-sitting service with friends who have dogs I wash my dog at home in the backyard with Dawn dish soap (its fine – I use it on me too). He doesn’t need haircuts or nail trims (we walk 2 miles on concrete every morning). If he needed haircuts or nail trims I would do it myself Other tips. I use cash back credit cards for as much as I can and pay them off every month I always send in my mail in rebates I track every penny I spend in an Excel spreadsheet. I know exactly where my money goes and how much my expenses change over the years I know where to buy the items I use for the best price I don’t pay for a financial advisor. I do my own investing in low cost Vanguard index funds that's my frugal life...My full, happy, content frugal life and hopefully there are some useful tips in here you can use.
