Ciao a tutti...per me é sempre stato molto difficile parlare di identità di genere e espressione di genere in quanto tematiche piuttosto pericolose essendo nato in un contesto abbastanza bigotto (Se da un lato conosco diverse persone con una mentalità molto aperta in merito alle tematiche lgbtq+, la mia famiglia in tal senso é davvero pessima). Se all'esterno mi sono sempre mostrato come un uomo etero cisgender, la verità é che nel profondo del mio animo io mi sento tutto fuorché ciò. Odio profondamente apparire così, ma ho troppa paura di prendere in mano la mia vita e essere semplicemente me stesso. Ho paura di fare coming out con i miei amici e la mia ragazza per paura di non essere accettato o comunque di rovinare i rapporti. Ho paura di dirlo ai miei in quanto spesso e volentieri sono stato offeso pesantemente per cose stupide e di poco conto come dipingermi le unghie o tenere i capelli lunghi. Al momento sento che la mia vita é sdoppiata, da una parte quella che mostro agli altri e da una parte quella che tengo nascosta (sia online in social come reddit o anche nel domestico...pensate che ho un borsone che di solito tengo chiuso con un lucchetto nel quale ho alcuni outfit femminili che indosso quando sono solo a casa). Ciao! Sono una ragazza transgender; Ogni volta che arriva l'estate vado in panico, non so più cosa indossare. Non ho il seno. Sono quasi piatta Uso il push-up quando esco, altrimenti non posso proprio. Per quanto riguarda il tucking avevo trovato delle mutande che nascondevano tutto perfettamente ma mi hanno portata ad avere problemi seri per via di quanto fossero strette e contenitive, le ho abbandonate e adesso uso solo una midi slip + tanga, non sono efficienti ma almeno non provo troppo dolore. A volte indosso abiti troppo coprenti e soffro molto per il caldo, invidio tantissimo le persone che non devono nemmeno pensarci, alcune sono addirittura felici dell'estate. Non mi sento a mio agio nemmeno con i vestiti che indosso attualmente (per l'inverno/primavera). Sto iniziando a perdere le speranze perché vorrei nascondermi per sempre sotto abiti larghi, ma non posso, ahah. E allo stesso tempo vorrei mostrare la mia femminilità, ma con abiti larghi e abbondanti non funziona per niente. Qualche consiglio? Per me, è “l’accessorio” definitivo per l’uomo. Esistono decine di nodi, fantasie, a righe a pua floreale motivi geometrici, tutti i colori e le tonalità, di seta, lana, cotone. È divertente, bella, crea dinamismo nell’outfit, toglie l’attenzione dal resto e la porta tutta di sé. Vale anche "una volta un uomo di ha detto.." Buonasera ame, sono qui per creare solidarietà e supportarsi a vicenda ma anche per vedere a che punto possa arrivare la pochezza di certi individui. Comincio io: Come spesso mi capita di fare torno nel paesino vicino al mare, sud Italia, di cui è originario mio padre. In una serata estiva qualunque, in paese, con un tasso alcolico diffusamente sopra la media incontro un tizio che si potrebbe definire un caso umano. Caso umano con cui capita di scambiare due parole ogni tanto, ma la confidenza finisce li. Il c.u. in questione è un uomo sui 40, ignorante come la fame, noto per la sua passione per il gioco delle bocce. Throwback: l'anno precedente all'avvenimento che vi racconto, ottenni un piccolo boccino da una bottiglia di pastis (gioco popolare in francia a quanto pare) e lo regalai al soggetto in questione, essendo l'unica persona di mia conoscenza appassionata a quel gioco. Ma tornando a noi, arrivata al bar del paese, lo saluto e come mia consuetudine cerco di fare due chiacchiere di circostanza, lui a freddo e totalmente fuori contesto mi guarda e mi risponde: 'A Clà, non ti preoccupare che qualcuno che ti scopi lo trovi'. Sono molto curioso di avere un parare riguardo ad un pensiero che da un po si agita nella mia testa e che mi infastidisce molto, sopratutto perché mi sembra di essere l’unico che ci ponga attenzione. Attenzione post lungo, era partito come uno sfogo ma si è trasformato in una riflessione. Sto parlando dei programmi della televisione italiana, come Affari Tuoi, l’eredità, la ruota della fortuna e altri ancora. Faccio una premessa dicendo che non sono un grande fan della tv in generale, non la guardo mai, ma in alcune circostanze sono per forza di cose obbligato a subirmi questi programmi che personalmente disprezzo, forse fatta eccezione per l’eredità . Ma non voglio parlare della bassezza o della stupidità di alcuni di essi, ma di un altro dettaglio particolare. Sono veramente infastidito dalla costante oggettivizzazione nei confronti delle donne all’interno di queste trasmissioni. Ormai è una costante: c’è un presentatore,uomo in giacca e cravatta, con annesso intorno belle ragazze che ballano o girano con tanto di vestitini sexy e accattivanti. Non hanno un ruolo, sono lì solo perché sono belle e perché devono soddisfare la parte di pubblico maschile. Ma aspetta, il pubblico non è solo maschile. Non dovrebbe essere diviso circa equamente tra spettatori e spettatrici? Perché far “felice” solo il pubblico maschile? Perché non mettere anche ballerini maschi o figure maschili attraenti? Non sarebbero apprezzati dall’audience femminile? Ma facciamo un po di esempi: Affari tuoi (tra l’altro penso sia una cosa recente ed è proprio questo il motivo per cui adesso mi sono deciso a fare questo post), una ragazza semi nuda gira in mezzo alla sala, non ha un ruolo, non è “utile”, è solo bella. Mi potreste dire però che a condurre c’è Stefano De Martino, un uomo considerato bello dal pubblico femminile e che quindi, insomma, siamo 1 a 1. Questo però non fa altro che rafforzare la mia tesi e non la vostra, poiché: Stefano certo, è un bell uomo, ma non è lì per quello. Il suo ruolo è condurre ed è lì perché è bravo a farlo, il fatto che sia bello è un plus, a differenza delle ragazze in questione che hanno come ruolo letteralmente il fatto di esser belle. Come dicevo prima, questo avvalora la mia tesi perché mostra come anche al pubblico femminile farebbe piacere vedere figure maschili attraenti all interno del programma, magari ballerini o semplicemente bei ragazzi che fanno scena. Quindi la domanda si ripropone: perché non esistono figure maschili con questo ruolo , ma solo femminili? Andando avanti: Striscia la notizia e le sue veline, non penso di dover commentare. Gerry Scotti e la ruota della fortuna. Indovina un po chi c’è a girare le lettere allo schermo dicendo sì e no 5 frasi a puntata? Esatto. Eredità, programma con una certa serietà ma che non si fa mancare momenti di ballo sexy tra un gioco e l’altro. E indovina un po’ anche qui? Esatto, 2 ragazze in tiro che addirittura cambiano diversi outfit durante la puntata. Veramente ridicolo. Tra l’altro quando nel gioco finale indovini la parola vengono a portarti bicchieri e spumante, come se fossero parte del premio.. E penso che si potrebbe continuare così per un altro po’. Cosa dite? Sono pazzo io? Ma la cosa che più mi infastidisce è che cazzo, si parla di femminicidi, si parla di oggettificazione della donna la quale è la causa scatenante di praticamente qualsiasi femminicidio (io uccido una donna in quanto convinto di possederla, in quanto penso che essa mi appartenga e nel momento in cui vengo “tradito” da essa mi sento in diritto di agire di conseguenza) e poi sui programmi di punta dei canali più visti dal pubblico italiano, avviene una sua palese strumentalizzazione , ragazze presenti nelle trasmissioni SOLO perché di bell aspetto al pari di un fottuto cimelio da mostrare e da usare per aumentare una sorta di “prestigio” della trasmissione. Concludo cercando di rispondere prevedendo le critiche: io non sto dicendo che nei programmi non ci debbano essere ragazze che ballano, sto dicendo che c’è una palese e pesante assenza di una, passatemi l’espressione, “versione maschile” di queste figure. Questo testimonia ancora la differenza che esiste tra l’uomo e la donna in questa società. In questo post ho parlato delle trasmissioni televisive così abbozzo per intavolare un discorso ben più grande, si potrebbero fare centinaia di altri esempi. La donna é ancora trattata non al pari dell’uomo, nonostante i numerosi passi in avanti fatti negli ultimi decenni e chi dice il contrario dovrebbe farsi un attimo un esame di coscienza e aprire gli occhi alla realtà. Fino a che le cose rimaranno così, sentiremo sempre parlare di femminicidi, abusi, stalking e violenza. This has a fresh minty take and this isn't as sweet as others in the same category. The vanilla is more prominent than lavender with this one | Eating a vanilla ice cream in an expensive hotel reception which is both fresh and flowery | Unisex | Best for winter and cool evenings, intimate gatherings. Comparatively more versatile than others within the same category Kayaan Classic (Around 2000): This smells like lipistick nothing else (hey, I am a noob, remember?). I don't have any other opinion Afnan 9PM (2300-2500): Again a sweet fragrance but this is pineapple sweet not sugary or fruity sweet mixed with vanilla and cinnamon. This is very linear and doesn't change it's character much | Walking into a night cafe but instead of booze everyone is having desert | Unisex | Best for parties and night outs Kaaf by Ahmed Al Maghribi (1600-1800): People say it has watermelon note :) I mean watermelon has a fragrance? (Maybe that is why I am a noob). This smells lavender and musky at the same time and this is soft and beautiful. Not very bold and on the face which makes it very easy to wear | You just got out of shower and you used flowers and grasses to clean yourself instead of using a soap. Very subtle but divine smell | Unisex (leans feminine) | Wear it where-ever you like Maison Alhambra Daring Blue (1500-1700): Citrus and ozonic. Fresh and bland smelling but in a good way. This is the first time I am smelling something "Ozonic" | Imagine peak summer, extremely blue and clear sky and your took your deep first breath after opening your eyes in the morning | Unisex | Best for summer days, daytime outings, gym, work, very subtle and uplifting Afnan Rare Reef (2200-2500): Expensive Santraaaaaaaaaaaa 🍊 whose citrusness is tamed down with fruity sweetness. Very fresh and rich smell | Imagine drinking orange juice near a pool | Unisex | Best for fun outings, summer days, gym Gucci Guilty Pour Homme (6500-10000): Smells like dry wood and jin or gin(I am talking about the booze) which makes is very heavy and demands a certain personality to carry | Imagine an old man in a vintage home made of wood sitting by the fireplace with his cigar | Extremely masculine | Good for work or as a everyday wear if you are into that old money asthetics. Don't pair it with formal or casual outfits. Not for young audience SJP Stash (NA): Sandalwood. Yup, that's all. A linear sandalwood perfume | I don't think it needs explanation | Traditional, ethnic occassions, shaddi wagera Lattafa Atlas (2500-3000): A salty marine DNA with sandalwood. This smells fresh and very different than "Blue" scents within the same category | Imagine you are smelling popeye but he is drenched in sea water | Masculine | Very versatile, beach, parties, office. Might not be the best for dates though Blue by Ahmed (1500-1700): Blue de Chanel DNA. Minty, citrus with a little spice | Sitting on a beach with a glass of moito | Unisex (Leans masculine) | Very versatile YSL Y EDT (NA): This is also a fresh DNA but this is more herbal and green instead of those typical "Blue" DNA. You might not get compliments wearing this but nobody will hate it either. Very subtle non-intrusive fresh spicy scent | Imagine walking in the dense forest after taking a shower | Masculine | Extremely versatile Rasasi Hawas (2000-2200): Very sweet and fruity smell. Makes it very fresh, fun and cheerful | Imagine drinking fruit punch which is very sweet and fruity | Unisex | Good for casual outings, gym or fun activities. Rasasi Hawas Ice (2300-2500): The sweetness of hawas is tamed down by mint in this one. This is fresher and cleaner which isn't too much "on the face" with the hawas. Hawas wants the spotlight but hawas ice knows when to stop and leave the stage | You are drinking fruit punch but in Antarctica and your smell of taste has gone down due to the extreme cold | Masculine | Beach, trek, office, gym, you name it and hawas ice can be your partner Arabiyat Prestige Marwa (3000-3500): Nah man I can't describe this, smells royal to me. All I can say is I liked it 8.5 out of 10 Rue Broca Theoreme (1400-1500): This has citrus, woody and spicy smell which makes it fresh and unique. Modern and sophisticated scent which smells rich and clean. Doesn't smell cheap at all for the price it is coming for | Imagine a clean muscular boy cutting wood in a forest | Masculine | Office, gym, outdoor activities Afnan Modest Une (2600-3000): Sharp, fresh and spicy that stays till the very end. Pepper, lavender, mint are the dominant notes with dry vetiver smell at the end | Imagine winter is just starting and you are camping near mountains where you can smell the forest. Now just add some pepper to the imagination | Masculine | Very versatile perfume in winters Versace Dylan Blue (5500-6500): Either I went nose blind or this is the most bland blue fragrance. Kuch hai hi noooo ji. It is both the gift and curse of it. This is very very subtle. People who don't like wearing fragrance, try this! | Imagine Wearing a clean shirt after taking a shower, you just feel good. That's it | Masculine | This is extremely easy to carry, wear it where ever you like Armaf Tres Nuit (1300-1500): Very flowery and smooth going. There is a hint of spicyness as the heart notes reveal themselves but it stays at the back and can only be felt if someone comes closer. This somehow provides character to the perfume where it takes two opposite ends of the spectrum and ties them together. Flower and spices | Imagine walking in a park after first monsoon rain and you can smell the flowers | Unisex(leans masculine) | Good for almost every occassion Valentino UOMO Intense (6500-7000): This made me realize the smell of Iris. This perfume beautifully blends softness of vanilla with powdery smell of iris but somehow changes it's character and gets a little heavy with leathery notes. Very simple yet complex DNA | Imagine entering a luxurious party in a new tuxedo and you are surrounded by high class women | Masculine | Parties (not casual), meetings, date nights Aqua Oud by Ahmed Al Maghribi (Around 2000): Very fresh marine smell but also add agarbatti smell to it. With time it gets heavy and earthy but doesn't leave behind the fresh notes. Is this how oud smells? | Morning walk by the sea but it's not too loud or intervening, everything is in harmony | Masculine | Great for summer activities, office, gym Afnan Supermacy NOI (3600-4000): Ah, so this is how CA smells like. Sharp burst of juicy and citrus fruits but then it totally changes to heavy earthy smell like oakmoss and wet wood. The heavy elements blend with the fruity smell and develop something new altogether | I can't imagine how this smells like | Masculine | Night out, clubs, meetings, dates FA Moonstone Noire (2500-2800): Yeh toh kuch khatarnakh hai bhai 😳. Totally a different and unique smell among all of these. Very heavy and mysterious. It smells like burnt vanilla. This perfume is not bad just weird | I can only imagine a witch or goth baddie when smelling this perfume | Probably feminine | Wizardry and witchcrafting occasion Pendora Dreamcatcher (1400-1500): So this is the clone of D&G The One. The staple perfume of men going on date nights. Oh boy this smells so beautiful and turns me on 🤤(I am a boy BTW!). Ciao a tutte, il titolo penso riassuma bene il mio problema, che sono sicura molte di voi potranno comprendere. È un po’ un rant ma se avete consigli pratici qualsiasi cosa è ben accetta perché sono disperata. Ho 19 anni e il mio corpo è cambiato molto con la fine della pubertà, se due estati fa ero più magrolina e meno formosa adesso ho un corpo molto più curvy e ho accumulato molto peso soprattutto sulle cosce e sui glutei. Ora mi trovo con una body shape a pera molto accentuata e un lato B non indifferente in quanto a dimensioni. Non fraintendete, non mi vergogno certo del mio corpo, mi piaccio molto e non mi riservo dal mostrarlo nei contesti giusti, ma con l’arrivo dell’estate mi sono accorta sempre più di come l’industria della moda non mi lasci altra scelta se non stare, letteralmente, a chiappe di fuori, se desidero indossare un pantaloncino corto anche solo per allenarmi o andare al mare, e di come modelli di pantaloncini che mi stavano bene e scoprivano al punto giusto quando ero più magra adesso siano semplicemente studiati male per le mie forme. Diventa poi anche una questione di sicurezza dato che non sempre (ad esempio, appunto, quando mi alleno) posso portarmi dietro il plotone di amiche in difesa dai viscidi catcaller, mi sento continuamente gli occhi addosso e questo mi provoca un disagio non indifferente, al punto di uscire indossando leggings lunghi o non uscire affatto ad allenarmi. Vivo al sud, in questo momento da me ci sono quasi 40 gradi e di uscire coi pantaloni lunghi non se ne parla proprio, per ovvie ragioni. Sono ricorsa addirittura al fast fashion online (che di norma considero il male assoluto), ma niente, vedo sempre solo o pantaloncini inguinali o direttamente tipo pinocchietto. Mi sento in un vicolo cieco, poi tolta una mia amica fidata non so con chi parlarne perché ho sempre l’impressione di essere giudicata negativamente quando mi lamento di sentire il mio corpo eccessivamente sessualizzato, e incontro sempre risposte del tipo “ma beata te, lo vorrei io un culo così”, “se avessi io il tuo culo lo mostrerei tutto il tempo”, che magari vogliono essere anche dei complimenti ma non c’entrano affatto il problema e sminuiscono la mia esperienza senza offrire aiuto o soluzioni pratiche o anche solo comprensione. Inspired by Derek Guy at Die Workwear, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of things I'm feeling excited to wear this spring/summer and ask what yours are. This isn't stuff that I necessarily think is "in" or a "must have" list, just things that have me looking forward to put together fun little outfits. Apologies for the length, I had a good time putting this together. Statement skirts with some length to them Every year, I think I'm giong to make the long skirt look work over winter, and I never quite manage it. This may partially be because I'm a maniac about fabric weights/fibers and seasonal appropriateness, but I keep trying. In any case, by the time it get at all warm, I'm desperate for the ease of a long, full skirt. Mine are custom from (mostly) Liberty fabrics, but I'm seeing good ones everywhere. I particularly like what Erdem has going on, or plenty of options at Wolf & Badger. These work best when they're somewhere between midi and maxi length, I think, and ideally in a woven material. Jersey maxis easily go a little "mom-on-the-go" for me. I like these with simple, ideally long-sleeved tops. I find it the easiest to wear when the top sits pretty snugly, for the "small top big bottoms" silhouette, but it's worth experimenting with big-over-big. On chillier days, a fine-knit cashmere sweater works well (Charter Club cashmere is everywhere secondhand, and not bad quality for how cheap it is), for warmer days, I just got some Everlane scoop necks. These skirts work well with flat sandals (Saltwater Sandals slides are my go-to), espadrilles (more on that below), or even sneakers, for the ubiquitous "the wrong shoes" look. My new image for cold-weather long skirts Christy Turlington in Portofino for Vogue, December 1992 Mara Hoffman Extended Tulay skirt, more of a \"big over big\" silhouette. Claire McCardell, maybe try a long sash?? Edwardian lady at her dressing table aesthetic I worked on a production of A Little Night Music many years ago, where the leading lady spends most of the first act pouting in her bedroom circa 1907, dressed in flowing, frilled cotton lawn. It's a great look for summer, which I've never been able to get out of my head. When I saw Rachel Maksy do something similar in a video last year, I realized I COULD DO THAT TOO. The vibe here is Adele Blanc-Sec before she leaves the house. I don't think this has to feel costumey; the elements that make it work are: An updo with some volume to it (the inspo here is Gibson Girl, objectively the hottest look ever, but just piling it up there and securing with a claw clip works pretty well). A woven, sleeveless or short sleeve top that has camisole vibes (I found one from Toad & Co that I haven't worn yet but have high hopes for until I get around to making a proper one.) And then probably a longish skirt again? This vibe feels better to me solids than the fun prints I shared above. It doesn't have to be white, a dark skirt just looks liek you got interrupted halfway through getting ready, which, again, great look. Alternately, I think some vintagey big pants would work. Something like Carrier Company's work trouser. I don't think this is a look that wants much jewelry, and I'm not sure how to wear shoes with this. We'll have to work that out in post. Tasha Tudor Life Magazine, 1949 Doen, this introduces the intriguing possibilities of little shorts to make a camisole into a set. If you want to try sewing, this is a pretty easy beginner project. ESPADRILLES Espadrilles are the ultimate summer shoe, fight me in the Denny's parking lot. Cheap, comfortable, casual but elevated, recognizable but not tired. The best shoe. Diego's makes the best espadrilles, hands down. I walk through a pair of their navy and white striped flat sailor espadrilles every summer, and if you pick the remaining rubber off (not hard by October), they're compostable. The wedge versions last much longer (there's more sole to them) and are the only "heels" I've ever found to be "walking all day on cobblestones in summer" comfortable. Both are great, but I do find the flat ones are less expected, and more fun for that reason. I'm not a Diego's shill, I'm willing to believe there are other traditionally made espadrilles that are equally comfy and cute, but I will warn you that whatever fashion espadrille (I'm looking at you J.Crew 2012) is not at all the same thing and will tear your feet up. They go with everything, but I'm particularly fond of a flat espadrille with a boyish look. Wear them anywhere you might be considering a chunky loafer right now. Francesca from Master of None. Tomato girls owe her so much. Anjelica Huston, c1970s Masterful long skirt plus espadrille combo. Ingrid Bergman Hats hats for career girls Are hats coming back? I don't know, but hats are great and the large-brimmed ones are actually very practical most of the time. I like Lorna Murray hats for traveling, because they roll up to pack beautifully, but a stiffer brim is honestly more fun. I haven't gotten one yet, because the price for what it is seems INSANE, but I fully intend on making some kind of clip to keep my hat on my bag, like TOPTOTE Hat Holder Clips. I think there are many cheaper versions around, but it's a great idea. I don't think there's one type of outfit that a hat works with, but I do think many of them look more intentional with a more elevated outfit. These examples I like all feature collars/lapels, a little bit of soft tailoring, some accessorizing, etc. I have a boater that I'm never quite happy with (it's floppier than a boater ought to be) so I'm deciding whether to try to fix it up or cut my losses and start over with a more traditionally-made one.
