[TW] Hilary Duff: Through "Thick and Thin"
This example is a blatant promotion of disordered eating. Hilary herself had an eating disorder, so it’s hard to see her size referred to and her weight listed like this. It wouldn’t have been good for her, nor would it have been good for women and girls who compared themselves to her. Then, the actual diet. [TW] This diet comes to 1,108 calories, which is well below the amount of calories adult women should have, especially active adult women. If people are dieting to lose weight they should have a healthy calorie deficit, but this example fits into a larger pattern of disordered eating. She doesn’t have weight to lose! There’s also no mention of health or nutrition. The normalisation of adult women eating just over 1k calories a day is terrifying! Then to promote that degree of exercise on top of that! I can’t find exactly when this example is from but I think 2006. submitted by /u/AdrianaLaServing to r/WhyWereWeOkWithThis [link] [comments]

Unsolicited advice- start moving and keep moving!
I will be 63 years old next week. Through most of my life I was relatively active, but was never a “exercise” or workout person. Eight years ago, I discovered Pilates and it was life-changing for me. I go five times a week and I’m in the best shape of my life. I think it’s really the key to feeling good about yourself and life in general. I have a ton of energy and my body moves like I’m in my 30s. Oh, I have my issues – – – arthritis in my hands and feet and occasionally a sore back but staying physically active is crucial. And it’s never too late to start. Yesterday I was in a Pilates class and saw a woman there who had to be in her 80s and she was struggling a bit, but bless her heart for being there. Anyway, as the title said, this was unsolicited advice and I hope you all have a great weekend- get out there!!! submitted by /u/ObviousMousse4768 to r/AskWomenOver60 [link] [comments]

I thought of something after watching the pilates scene again
I've seen some comments about Chris' skin during his scene with Jess where he tells her he's used to dating people who workout every day. Some people with skincare related professions chimed in saying he may have roseaca, or some alcohol abuse related splotching, and it very well could be either of those, or any combination of them. But I had the thought today that it looked like he got hit. Like he was in a fight. He had disappeared the night/day before, and according to his overall demeanor, and especially the recorded leaked call/voicemail from his ex, I could absolutely see this little chipmunk getting all cocky after some drinks and causing problems in a bar. You can see the same marks on him face the next night at the meetup, only they're faded. submitted by /u/Visual_Librarian_536 to r/LoveIsBlindNetflix [link] [comments]

IRON Series - anyone done this 3x per week in addition to other weekly workouts (pilates, yoga etc); what sequence do you use?
As the title mentions...I have been randomly choosing one UB, one LB, and one full DB workout in the IRON series each week in between my other weekly workouts - strength and conditioning class, reformer/hot yoga 2x per week. I know she has a workout calendar online, but is there a right way to progress through the program if only doing 3 workouts per week? This is my first exposure to CG and her workouts, and I really like them. Pilates home workout suggestions please!
Hi all! I just came across a post in this sub where OP mentioned how beneficial their morning Pilates routine has been. Her post really inspired me, so I have a question: What is your favorite at-home Pilates program? Y’all have wonderful advice, please help a girl out 🩷 A YouTube channel, fitness coach, virtual classroom, etc., anything would be helpful! I’m a beginner so I’m pretty overwhelmed and unsure where to start. Going to a class isn’t an option as I live rurally. For the sake of my job, I need something to get me up and moving every morning and this might just do it for me! submitted by /u/Chonky-Tadpoles to r/PetiteFitness [link] [comments]

Telling my brother I don’t want his gf around our little sister
I think this would be the right tag and you can’t use more than one but a minor is mentioned in this also mentions of an eating disorder 24F writing this, I am the oldest in the family. My brother 22M has started dating a girl from work 23F. This is the first gf he’s brought home to meet all of us and obviously we were all super excited. We met her the first few times and she seemed fine and super nice. I’m a certified counselor and I work at a HS so I’ve seen a lot things and one of them being eating disorders which my brother also mentioned his gf having before she came over to first time. Not in a bad way but she is incredibly thin and he didn’t want anyone mentioning it to her and pointing it out especially our grandparents because they’re insensitive about that stuff. We have a little sister 14F whos just going into puberty. My little sister is super insecure and I won’t go into detail too much but she’s obsessed with TikTok which my parents have tried limiting because well… kids see stuff. My brothers gf hung out with all of us together and her and my sister bonded a lot over things like Hello Kitty, supermodels and so on which I don’t know much about but I was happy she found someone with similar interests… sometimes his gf would offer to pick my sister up for school and go shopping. She’s asked me too on a few occasions and I’ve met up w her once or twice and she seemed normal to me. But the more our sister hung out w her the more I started noticing things. My sister would point out calories which she NEVER has. My sister is a foodie who watches mukbangs bc she’s bored. Then started the excessive workouts including pilates?? I genuinely assumed this was another TikTok trend so I didn’t think about that too much but then she asked my mom to buy her sizes small to motivate her to lose weight. She asked for all her Christmas clothes to be smaller and my sister isn’t a big girl, she’s perfectly healthy for someone w her proportions. She has our brothers gfs on Snapchat and she was showing me something in their saved chats. To say the least it was body checking pics she’d sent and it’s crazy for me to even type this because it sounds insane to send that to a little girl. It’s not like she wasn’t even aware of it she was sending our 14 year old sister pictures of her laying on the side w her RIBS sticking out and some saved chats even had links to diet plans she’d sent my sister bc my sister asked how to lose weight. One diet plan said eat one egg per meal. Thats fucking unhealthy. I FREAAAAAKEDDDD out and I never lose my cool, I’ve never done it before plus it’s a part of my job to not get agitated easily but this made me lose my bullocks.. I stormed into my brothers room and yelled at him and told him about it and told him I don’t want his gf around our sister period. I told our parents and my brother defended his gf saying how she has had anorexia ever since she was a kid and that she didn’t mean it like that, that it wasn’t intentional. My brother called me a bitch and said that I was ‘stigmatising her and assuming things because of her ED’. I told him to shut the fuck up and for her to stay away from our sister. My sister is sad but she didn’t know any better and I had a long talk w her. Our parents are really pissed at my brother too and he won’t talk to me. His gf texted me a long apology w excuses saying it was taken out of context. But I see the signs, I told her to shut the fuck up and stay away from my little sister and that she’s a weirdo for even bringing this up around my sister because she’s a kid who shouldn’t be worrying about weight let alone taking tips from someone who has an eating disorder and is actively getting her to starve. Brother left the house two weeks ago and hasn’t said a word to me and is staying w his gf but called my mom and said he won’t come home until I apologise to his gf. She’s even tried texting me to defend herself once more, has called me everywhere and I didn’t respond until she called my little sister thinking I wasn’t here. Took the phone from sis and told her if she ever comes near her again she’ll be having words w me physically. Brother is mad as hell and says his gf doesn’t know any better and told me I should know how these things work because I have a degree in them. Told him to fuck himself if he ever brings her around our sister anymore. Am I the asshole because I know I was harsh but I won’t let someone knowingly make my barely teenage sister eat ONE flippin egg for every meal to lose weight. When she called her I had to calm myself down bc if I whoop her ass my degree is gone. submitted by /u/Due_Enthusiasm_4941 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

22 months and 100 lbs Down
I recently hit my weight loss goal and I wanted to share! I started a calorie deficit 22 months ago only tracking my calories and protein. At the same time my dr prescribed metformin to help with my pcos symptoms. He later switched me to ozempic to better control those symptoms and for the first time in my life my inflammation has reduced, I have manageable period pain and regular cycles. I wanted to build and maintain muscle, especially after starting ozempic. I focused on eating clean/whole foods 80% of the time and enjoying treats/lattes/fried foods etc the other 20% of the time - mostly maintaining that deficit but also taking days off of tracking here or there. Every diet I’ve ever done was so restrictive and once I came off of it I gained everything back plus more bc I never learned how to balance things. I started 3-4 days a week weight training about 9 months in and working on progressive overload. I’ve kept that up for over a year now and I’m feeling the best I’ve ever felt. It’s so hard for me to recognize the girl I’m the “before” pictures but I’m so thankful she was ready to prioritize herself finally. Looking forward to easing off ozempic and increasing my calories to maintenance so I can work on body recomp. I lowered my body fat by about 16% and increased my muscle mass by 15% - and really wanna focus on improving those numbers. Timeline January 2024 Started walking and hiking Started a calorie deficit Started metformin April 2024 Lost 22 lbs in the first 3 months and then started ozempic August 2024 Lost 48 lbs by August and started adding regular workout at the gym in addition to my walks and hikes January 2025 Lost 72lbs 1 year in -in between- I kept maintaining my deficit by tracking my calories and adjusting as I lost weight. AIO my friends husband doesn’t want us to workout together anymore because of how I dress?
So I (31M) am genuinely confused…the husband of one of my good girlfriends who I’ve worked out with now for nearly a year suddenly doesn’t want us to workout together anymore. For content, I am a gay man with a full husband. I dress super feminine, think yoga pants, feminine clothing, nails done all the time, makeup etc…I am literally no threat to this man. I only say that because I can’t understand why her husband would suddenly be threatened by how I dress. Mind you we all hangout together all the time, almost on a weekly basis. This just seems so odd to me and really don’t know if I am just overreacting or not here…🥺 submitted by /u/Salacious_Ginger to r/AmIOverreacting [link] [comments]

Modified 75 Hard - I FREAKING DID IT!
Yesterday was day 75 of my modified 75 hard challenge and I FREAKING DID IT GUYS! The Numbers: - Start Date: Feb 10, 2025 - Start weight: 194 lbs (88 kg) - Height: 5’4 (162 cm) - Current weight: 165 lbs (74 kg) - Goal weight: 150 lbs (68 kg) - Starting BMI: 33.3 (Obese Class I) - Current BMI: 28.3 (Overweight range) The Modified 75 Hard Rules: - I follow all 75 Hard rules with 2 modifications: - 1 Both workouts can be inside - 2 Audiobook ok - All other 75 hard rules apply (water, picture, diet, no alcohol, all of it) Diet: - 16:8 Intermittent Fasting - Modified whole30 diet (butter allowed in cooking is the only modification). Habits I will keep - 10k step per day - Pilates/Resistance Bands (3x week) - Calorie Counting - Water (64 oz instead of 128) I need these to get to goal weight, but I don’t need the other extremes (whole 30, gallon of water, 90 min a day workouts every single day). Audiobooks I listened to several audiobooks over the course of the challenge; some resonated with me and some did not. Here they are from best to worst: Unfu#k Yourself by Gary John Bishop (SO GOOD!) Atomic Habits by James Clear Stop Doing That Sh#t by Gary John Bishop The Now Habit by Neil Fiore, Ph.D. The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins (She’s annoying) Overall Feelings Y’all I can’t tell you how many ways this challenge has changed me. Staying consistent for 75 days was an odyssey of emotions, from feeling weak and unable to move forward… to feeling invincible, and every feeling in between. I learned when my body NEEDS rest and when my mind is taking me out of it because I’m lazy. And I’ve learned to push through lazy and listen to being sore (I also learned about protein and holy fuck that makes a difference to soreness and progress)! I learned so much about myself. I now know I CAN do it. And I know I WILL get to goal weight. And I have the habits now to get and STAY there! We can do it ❤️💪 submitted by /u/KiraPlaysFF to r/intermittentfasting [link] [comments]

[OC] Gym Saved My Life - my 150lbs down story.
Hey guys. This post is to everyone who ever struggled/struggle with weight-loss and to all the people who have been supporting me so far and probably wondered what happened to me, why I stopped posting in the past months. I used to be a skinny-normal weight girl as a teen. I came from a very toxic environment, with an abusive and narcissistic father who used to mentally&emotionally abuse me all the time. Even when I was skinny, I’d get called fat-cow-ugly by him, non-stop. I didn’t realize back then the impact those things would have on me later. At 21 I finally moved out from that place and I spent 1 year working as a freelancer and drawing non-stop, until I got my first and actual job as an illustrator at a publishing house. That year was decisive for me and my future - first, I improved art so much by drawing non-stop, every day and this got me my dream job later. Second, I destroyed my body, health and even the little social-skill I had until that moment. I never, and when I say it, believe me..never went out. I wouldn’t see the light of the day for weeks or even months. I never talked to anyone, besides my family and my best friend. I refused to go out with all my artists friends that I had back then, until I pushed them away and they stopped texting me. Even tho I was drawing so much, this was not enough to keep the bad thoughts and control the emotions. I found peace and safety in food, and food became my coping mechanism. I’d eat when I was sad, happy or bored. I’d eat my life and pain away so I can keep the thoughts off. When I wasn’t eating, my mind was lost in dark thoughts that I could barely manage it, until a point when I wanted to stop everything and tried to end my life. A year later I got my dream job, and for a moment I had hope: I can lose weight and get back to ‘normal’ because now I have a routine, a schedule (9-6) and it’s gonna be easier to stop eating. But I was wrong. Getting a 9-6 job only made me starve myself all day long until I’d get back home and start eating a lot. Last year in August I was eventually forced by my mom to do some blood tests and more investigations and I found out my heath was equally to a 60yo person’s health. This + the fact that I could never wear anything besides black jeans, black tshirts, I never went out, I had no friends, I had huge social anxiety, I could never talk to anyone without shaking or even crying, the fact that I could never do the ‘normal’ things people do -like crossing my legs when sitting or finding clothes in local shops- was the decisive moment for me. So in a random day of Tuesday I decided to stop everything and after a long research, I managed to make myself a diet and a workout plan and stick to it. I’d get my protein in, water and my daily 10k steps. During weekends I’d do 20k+ steps a day. I became obsessed, more obsessed than I ever was with art. I found peace in going to gym, doing pilates or working out alone at home. I found peace in meal prep and walking like crazy, no matter the weather, haha. After these months, I can finally say that every pain, all the trauma, all the crying nights and everything was worth for me to get to this point… because if I never had to get to experience those 3 dark years, I’d have probably still eat like s*it, I’d still be lazy, even as a normal-weight person. I took my health for granted for many years and I regret it. I regret all the damage I have done to my body, but now I can only hope to continue with this healthy-lifestyle and maybe with a little luck, also, I’ll live a healthy life for more years. This post is dedicated to everyone who struggle with weight loss. You are not alone! I know it’s cliche, but if I could..you can to. Find that motivation, that drive and fix on it. Go crazy, become obsessed. The beginning is very hard, but eventually it will become a routine and you won’t even feel it. And trust me….it’s all worth. submitted by /u/marycomiics to r/BeAmazed [link] [comments]

HOW TO BE HOT AND HEALTHY FOR THE SUMMER... from a personal trainer
I feel like many of us are going through the spring blues and feeling stressed about summer so I wanted to create a big ass post about my top tips as a trainer because tbh, I see lots of sketchy and not great advice in this community. Take it or leave it but as we are all bitches with taste, I care about you and want you to be healthy and happy this summer. Get your freaking steps in You don't need to start running or HIIT or whatever if you don't enjoy them. Simply look at your current step count and start increasing it by 1500 - 2000 steps per day. 10K is an arbitrary number. If you're only getting 4K steps per day, getting 6K will start making a dramatic difference. Walking is so underrated and one of the most sustainable ways to increase your energy expenditure without revving up a crazy big appetite. More water Drink your body weight in ounces every day... and maybe a little more if you're a big sweater or drink more than 1 cup of caffeine. If you're not good at hydrating, get a straw... weird but it helps you sip better throughout the day. Before you give up gluten/dairy/etc. GIVE UP ALCOHOL FIRST Unless you have a legitimate allergy like celiac or lactose intolerance, you don't need to avoid entire food groups. Yes, eat everything in moderation but instead of trying to give up bread, give up or drastically reduce your alcohol consumption from now until Memorial Day Weekend and you'll be shocked at how much less bloated and sluggish you feel. ADD DON'T SUBTRACT And on that note... instead of giving up xyz foods, try adding more vegetables, protein, and whole foods to your diet. These are going to be higher in fiber and help you feel more satiated. You can have pizza! You can have a burger! You can have a cookie! Just make sure you're also getting in quality whole foods too. And on the subject of protein... Try to eat at least 1g per pound of ideal bodyweight. (i.e. if your goal weight is 140 pounds, eat 140g of protein). If that seems crazzzzzzzzy to what you do now, aim for at least 100g per day. Do workouts you love I've done so many phases of fitness with different types of workouts. Stop worrying if yours are the "best thing to do" and focus on whether or not you enjoy it. Enjoying your workout will let you stick with it. Tune out toxic Instagram accounts who tell you Pilates isn't good enough/strength training will wreck your cortisol/HIIT classes are bad for you etc. Just do what you like! SLEEP LIKE A CHAMP Bitches with taste need their beauty rest. Get your 8 hours in! And if you struggle with sleeping, try the 3-2-1 rule: no eating three hours before bed, no liquids 2 hours before bed, no screens 1 hour before bed. Sending love to all my bitches with taste xoxo omg edit.... DID NOT EXPECT THIS TO BLOW UP LIKE THIS! I will try to respond as many threads as I can over the weekend submitted by /u/funkyfarfelle to r/NYCbitcheswithtaste [link] [comments]

Pilates is literally a prison workout
I was doing shrooms and it occurred to me that Joseph Pilates is a boxer and acrobat who invented pilates while literally in prison while staring at cats. It's literally a prison workout. Now every time someone asks what pilates is, it's clear they are picturing rich yuppies stretching their legs in lululemons on the reformer before heading to whole foods to get their post-workout kale protein smoothies. I tell my folk that pilates was invented in a prison. We're learning prison workout... inspired by cats. That gets their attention real quick. submitted by /u/asura1194 to r/pilates [link] [comments]

Klay Thompson on a boat: "I like the 80s. 80s was all about big colors, supersonic sounds and groovy tunes. Salmon season, y'all, salmon season in 8 days, the 26th. Be there or be square... I’m not lit, I'm just happy. I had a great workout, hit the pilates."
