It's just more recreated art, but here's a Raichu I remade in pixel art from a Fossil set Pokemon card. Apologies if these are a bit small, I kept the PNGs at their original size. Decided to do this (and a couple other Pokemon cards) after being reminded of the pixel art versions of old Pokemon cards in the official Gameboy TCG games. Tried to do this one specifically in a GBA-ish style.

I think I've reached my breaking point. The Pokemon TCG community absolutely deserves every last bit of criticism it gets from people watching this hobby from the outside.
It really is a shame. This hobby just seems to bring out the worst in people. It doesn't matter what the situation is, this whole hobby just seems like it's a bunch of neckbeards and highschoolers in a competition to see who can screw over the most people, and who has the prettiest collections. Nobody cares about morals anymore. Nobody collects just to collect and it's damaged the hobby's reputation for both itself and the people who want to continue being a part of the community but are being forced out the door in favor of people who want to make money off of it. I really don't understand how it's gotten this bad, yet nobody seems to do anything about it regardless of how much it gets called out online. I'm tired of watching a hobby I've been a part of for 20+ years at this point going to shit more and more because people act like they're going to die if they don't swipe entire stores worth of them. Genuine question, how the hell are people affording these things now with the state of the economy?? Are they just starving themselves now so they can go gamble and see how likely they are to pay their rent that month? submitted by /u/PurpleInfinite1409 to r/PokemonTCG [link] [comments]

Nintendo always knows just what to say – after unofficial Pokemon TCG store was robbed of $100,000 at gunpoint, the publisher reached out with copyright "concerns"
A Pokemon TCG store that was the victim of an armed robbery is now changing its name following Nintendo apparently getting in contact. Last month The Poke Court – a Pokemon Card store in Manhattan, New York – was robbed at gunpoint during its very first community evening event. An employee told ABC7 Eyewitness News that in the three-minutes that the robbery took place, the suspects had stolen over $100,000 worth of merchandise from the store. A post on the store's website (via TheGamer) says: "First, thank you to everyone for the insane support we've seen, both near and far, in the less than two years we've been open." The team then explains, "The short story is that Nintendo reached out to us with concerns about our name and logo. As we also have some new and exciting things planned for this year, we've decided to take this opportunity to evolve!" submitted by /u/TylerFortier_Photo to r/gaming [link] [comments]

Player forfeits Pokemon TCG Regional Championship match after missing a card in his deck due to previous match popoff
Judges stopped the match a few minutes before the clip to do a deck recount and realized he only has 59 cards. By rule the player has to forfeit the game, but instead chose to forfeit the entire match. This clip shows the minutes after where they find the replay from the previous match where the same player threw his headset in a popoff, knocking his card over to his opponent’s side, which the opponent then accidentally scooped the card up since he thought it was his. submitted by /u/EverythingBagelKing to r/LivestreamFail [link] [comments]

Unpopular Opinion: Prismatic Evolutions Ruined Pokemon TCG
I remember the hype of 2020 when all the YouTubers and streamers were doing box breaks of Vintage. I remember Logan Paul doing his base set stream. I remember the search for the chonkachu in Vivid Voltage. But even during that hype, we saw cards on the shelves. When scarlet violet base set, paradox rift, and temporal forces came out, you could actually find a booster box for $95 easy for the first time in a long time. People in this sub were thrilled, the idea of finishing a set on a budget was doable. BUBBLE MEW WAS $60. Yeah, the moonbeon was expensive ($700) for a modern card but we all collectively understood why. We had a community in this sub again. 151 came out and although the hype was real, cards were still on the shelves. But then, looming in the background……… prismatic evolutions was announced. 32 SIRs. Pre-orders sold out. Mayhem, no true fan could get anything easy at MSRP. Then all other sets doubled and tripled overnight. S&V base set is now $220 (who likes that set THAT much?) vending machines were stalked, fights at large chain stores. Here we are in January 6 months after the release and we’ve had 6 months of scalping and killing each other over cards. I honestly believe this set destroyed the fun of the Pokemon TCG for a lot of people, myself included. submitted by /u/livwill to r/PokemonTCG [link] [comments]

I think I'm done with Pokemon TCG...
Bought these an hour ago from my local Collectibles store, they recently got into selling Pokemon TCG, and realized these blisters were resealed. White hard glue on top and bottom and around the edges of the blister pack are very loose. I wasn't paying attention as I was buying and that's my fault. Scalpers are buying everything on the shelf and blatantly laughing at collectors for being upset over them buying everything off the shelf. There is no stock anywhere because of Scalpers AND employees of retail stores looking to supplement their income and now we have to watch out for resealed blister packs. I think I'm going to take a break from this TCG for a long while and focus on something else. Be careful buying any Pokemon TCG product from second hand sources, the love of profit is a powerful motivator. submitted by /u/TheUnknownOthers to r/PokemonTCG [link] [comments]

My local Walmart has permanently removed the Pokemon TCG section
I asked a manager if the section got relocated. They told me management decided to “repurpose” the space and that they permanently cut ties with the supplier due to months of empty shelves. Walmart is not fond of wasted real estate space. Apparently if you’re not able to provide supply, Walmart has the right to end your contract early. Not sure if this impacts all Walmarts, but as far as my town goes Walmart is officially done with Pokemon TCG. I live in a town with no comic stores. Walmart used to be the main supplier. Now our only option are the dollar stores (or driving to the next major town 1.5 hours away). submitted by /u/TopWin44 to r/PokemonTCG [link] [comments]

Consecutive wins is an objectively bad metric to earn medals off of in a TCG like Pokemon
Before you all accuse me of being "salty". I already maxed out the medal for this event, so just hear me out. Pokemon as a TCG, is even more luck-based than the average TCG. While all TCGs have some inherently level of luck in terms of card draw and strategy (I'm primarily a MTG player), any given Pokemon game can literally be determined by a coin flip. Stringing together consecutive wins is essentially gambling no matter what deck you utilize. You can do everything "right", have a top meta deck, and still lose your streak because someone's Zapdos EX flipped more heads than yours, or because a Starmie Deck started their 2nd turn with 4 energy off a Misty. It would be significantly more preferable in my opinion, to just have to grind out 10-15 regular wins (or whatever number feels fair). Especially when there's no barrier between any given F2P player building around whatever they can unpack, and the whales that spend big to get all the cards they want. Basically, consecutive wins as a metric just feels bad submitted by /u/RylanTheWalrus to r/PTCGP [link] [comments]
