Pregnancy can cause back and hip pain due to the extra weight and pressure on these areas. A pregnancy pillow provides support to these areas, relieving pain and discomfort.
2
Improves Sleep Quality
Pregnancy can make it difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position. A pregnancy pillow helps align the body and provides support, promoting better sleep quality and reducing tossing and turning.
3
Reduces Pregnancy-related Swelling
Swelling, particularly in the legs and feet, is a common pregnancy symptom. Elevating the legs with a pregnancy pillow can help reduce swelling and improve circulation.

i had mild SPD towards the end of my second pregnancy and I'm seeing the beginning stages rn in my third at 20w. I read that while sleeping if you keep a pillow between your legs (making sure it extends all the way down to your feet) that that would help, at least while sleeping! maybe that'll translate to the rest of the day i hope you find something that helps you!

Do I actually need a pregnancy pillow or am I overthinking this?
I’m in my second trimester and sleep has started getting… weird. I can’t seem to get comfortable anymore and I keep waking up to adjust positions. I’ve been going down a bit of a rabbit hole reading about pregnancy pillows, and I keep seeing people swear by the BBHugme Pregnancy Pillow — but the price is making me hesitate a bit 😅 I tried looking for more affordable options on Amazon and even SHEIN, but now I feel like I’ve seen too many options and can’t tell what’s actually good vs just hype. Part of me is like… do I even need one? Or is this just one of those pregnancy things people convince themselves they need? Would love to hear honest experiences — did a pregnancy pillow actually help your sleep, or was it not that big of a difference? I’m usually a side / half-stomach sleeper if that makes a difference. submitted by /u/ConversationSuch8893 to r/pregnant [link] [comments]

AITA for emergency breastfeeding my best friend's baby
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/irritableseebass AITA for emergency breastfeeding my best friend's baby Originally posted to r/AmItheAsshole TRIGGER WARNING: Postpartum depression Original Post - rareddit Oct 21, 2019 My best friend of ten years gave birth to her first child about eight weeks ago. She never wanted kids and she disconnected from her pregnancy and never really connected to the baby after he was born either. She has really bad postpartum depression so I've been trying to help, however I gave birth to my second child about two weeks after she had her baby so I'm needed at home with my family. I could tell she was getting stressed so I offered to take the baby for a day so she could have downtime. She brought him over and we put the babies together. Her son has a really bad digestion problem so he can't ingest regular formula, only breastmilk or special formula. She doesn't breastfeed so he takes the special formula. I asked her if she had packed diapers, wipes, a change of clothes, and bottles in his diaper bag and she said yes. Then she left. For the first three hours everything was fine, the babies chilled out together, we all played, I put on some music and danced around for them. My baby needed a feed so I fed her and then about thirty minutes later Best Friend's baby needed a feed. I went to fix him a bottle and realized she hadn't packed his formula. When I asked if she had packed bottles she answered literally, but I never specified if she packed formula as well, I thought it was given. *My baby is exclusively on breastmilk right now and everything I have is frozen and it takes time for frozen milk to unfreeze. I tried calling her about four times and she kept sending me to voicemail so I text her. She had read receipts on so I know she saw my texts. I kept trying to call and she just wouldn't answer me. I couldn't go to the store and get a jar of formula because she didn't leave me his car seat and I only had my infant's seat. My older child is seven and doesn't need an infant seat anymore. I don't know my neighbors and other than my husband I don't have family in the area. At this point the baby was crying and screaming so hard I thought he might get sick or hurt. So I sat down and breastfed him myself. I'm completely healthy, just got a flu shot and a clean bill of health from both my OB and my GP and I have no diseases so the baby was not at risk for anything. Best Friend finally returned three and a half hours later. I remained calm but told her that she can't leave her child with someone and not answer when that person calls and texts because it might actually be a serious emergency; and that she also hadn't packed any of the baby's special formula. I told her how badly he got upset and how worried I was so I breastfed him myself. She freaked out on me and accused me of some horrible things and then left. She blocked me on social media, something I learned when a mutual friend told me Best Friend was saying some awful things about me online. I don't know what to do, I can't even talk to her about this. I thought I was doing the right thing but maybe I was wrong. AITA? ETA: I busted wanted to let everyone know, because I could not due to the character-count restrictions, one of our mutual friends already placed a call to CPS a few weeks ago. We have several friends who are also worried about her but were unable to come help me when this happened. She gets two wellness visits a week at her home from a caseworker and she's been ordered to seek mental health help. *I'm brand new at breastfeeding, didn't do it with my older child due to illness, and I'm still learning about everything. I received three free sessions with a lactation consultant while in the hospital and nothing since. ETA: When I say in the post I had no one who could come and help me, I mean it. Like, dead serious. My husband and I moved to this town right before we got married and our family is all back on the West Coast. We have a small group of friends, all of whom were either at work or unable to come at that moment. We're a small town, we don't have Uber, hell, Dominos Pizza doesn't even deliver out here. I don't know my neighbors. I'm not even sure what my closest neighbors names are. We're farm country. The nearest neighbor is a mile up the road. Even my husband couldn't leave work. ETA: I've had some really helpful and uplifting comments, and naturally a troll and a couple Armchair MDs, but I've got a sick seven year old, a baby eager for her 3 am snack, and a husband who is currently passed out on the floor using a dog toy as a pillow, and I need some sleep, so I'm gonna sign off. Thanks everyone who helped and I will come back later on and respond further. Good night! ETA: I lost my temper on a few folks and have been banned for 7 days so I cant answer direct questions. Here are few big ones: 1. Where is baby's father- dead, drugs, not a good person, conception was less than good. 2. Why didnt I express milk or thaw a bag- I've literally answered this question a blue billion times both in the post and in the comments so I'm not answering it anymore. 3. Have I called CPS- no, because CPS is already investigating her on unrelated issues however, the mutual friend mentioned in the post told the caseworker, so CPS is aware of all incidents. 4. Not important but I got an article in a newspaper about this so I feel interesting. 5. Best Friend called CPS on me and reported me for the above post so I'm dealing with that now. ETA: made the front page... VERDICT: NOT THE ASSHOLE RELEVANT COMMENTS BigsChungi This story is wild. I'd honestly prefer this over starving my child. Your friend had a very odd reaction... NTA. OOP I honestly and truly think she's just really really stressed right now and this reaction might be a manifestation of her own fears and feelings. I'm really just hurt and upset that we can't even talk about it. wetcardboardsmell You can worry and be upset, but your friend sounds like she is suffering from intense postpartum psychosis and, or, postpartum depression and anxiety. I can't imagine leaving my child with somebody and not checking my phone or not sending them with literally everything they need, food obviously for an infant with special dietary needs. Please dont take it personally. Try really hard to know you did everything you could and you FED THE BABY which is the most important thing here. I'm sorry your friend is struggling. I hope she gets help. NTA. Update Nov 26, 2019 (5 weeks later) Well hello! Since my post, CPS did come and speak to us. I gave the two workers who came out a full tour of the house, I let them speak to my older daughter, they interacted with the baby, they played with the dog, they interviewed my husband and myself, and we were given the all-clear. I showed them my post and let them read some of the comments. I wasn't disciplined or anything and they told us that unless they get a call about us again we'll probably never hear from them again. I mentioned in my post and comments that I had never received proper breastfeeding and lactation help, well that changed too. I got a message from a lactation consultant who actually lives an hour away from me. She made the drive five straight days to come and coach me, gave me some really great literature and tips, so I'm up-to-date on breastfeeding now. My baby is thriving and gorgeous, the dog loves her to death. As for my former best friend; she saw the post, she unblocked me and called me and we talked. She got mental help and hired a nanny, as well, and she seems to be on the road to doing much better. She apologized for everything, and I apologized for my part in it. However, I told her we could never be friends again. Maybe I could have forgiven her for that day she left her baby son with me but I could never forgive her for calling CPS on me. I could have lost my kids. So we are no longer in contact but she's not talking trash about me anymore. Anyway, that is what has been happening since my post. It's been an active month for me. We've all had a stomach bug, and the dog got his balls cut off (finally). My husband got a vasectomy that he's currently recovering from, and I lost ten pounds! Thanks for listening! The Best Pregnancy Pillow Right Now? Recommendation?
I’m looking to upgrade my sleep setup and finally get a pregnancy pillow that actually provides real comfort and support. There are so many options out there, and it’s hard to tell what’s genuinely helpful vs. what’s just hype. I’m looking for something that: Provides good support for the back, hips, and belly Helps with side sleeping and overall comfort Is comfortable without feeling too bulky or stiff Holds its shape well over time and is easy to clean I keep seeing popular brands and styles everywhere U-shaped, C-shaped, wedges, etc., but the reviews are all over the place. submitted by /u/CharlieChase2021 to r/BabyBumps [link] [comments]

My pregnancy pillow no longer belongs to me
Our little boy doesn’t seem to sense that a little human is growing nearby, but he sure knows how comfy this pillow is. As a non-cuddly corgi, he will sometimes tolerate sharing, but the second my husband or I get up, a full takeover ensues. submitted by /u/citionariver to r/corgi [link] [comments]

Definitely recommend sleeping with a pillow between your knees to help align your hips correctly. Pregnancy pillows can help with extra support but unfortunately hip pain while sleeping is just part of the pregnancy game. Wish there was a better answer but it just gets worse :/

What pregnancy pillow is good and not a waste of money?
what pillow is good for sleeping. I see pillows range from 30 to 60, wondering if the higher the price means better or if they are all the same in comfort? submitted by /u/Jordi_Masterson to r/pregnant [link] [comments]

Pregnancy pillow recommendations?
Looking for the biggest, fattest, phattest, plumpest, most succulent pregnancy pillow (preferably available on Amazon). My last one was ok-ish then it shrunk down to a sad floppy sock with all the abuse I gave it in my last pregnancy. I threw it out immediately after giving birth. I’d like one that holds its shape and can be used to prop a mama up seated in bed too. I don’t wanna have to use my own pillow as well. Thank you! submitted by /u/Past_Cut_7986 to r/PregnancyUK [link] [comments]

What is the best pregnancy pillow y’all slept with?
I need ideas for a nice pregnancy pillow brand. I bought a mom cozy one and I hated it. I got too hot and felt squished. submitted by /u/Present_Surprise_501 to r/pregnant [link] [comments]

Pregnancy pillow saving my life right now (not pregnant)
I was recently diagnosed as hyper-mobile and arthritic (I’m only 30😭), While trying to get to the bottom of some neck pain. Sleep has always been a big issue for me my whole life. I don’t sleep very deeply and I’m always tired. My worsening neck pain has made my sleep even worse. My doctor told me to get a cervical support pillow to help, but I’ve tried practically everyone under the sun so far without a lot of long term success. I’ve reached a try at least everything once stage of pain while waiting for my first physical therapy appointment. I saw a TikTok of a woman with EHS, who was talking about how she was still using her u shaped pregnancy body pillow to help with joint stability even after no longer being pregnant. I was skeptical but desperate, so once pay day came around I ordered a relatively cheap one that was made out of “cooling fabric” and it came yesterday. Last night I crawled into the nest like pillow and had my first uninterrupted night of sleep in many years. I was no longer flopping around like a fish or punching or switching my pillows all night. Being surrounded by pillow didn’t make me over heat even through I’m very temp sensitive. The pillow kept me locked in a pretty supported sleeping position. I woke up to sunlight streaming through my windows like a cartoon and very little pain. If you struggle with being a half side/ stomach sleeper that can’t find a comfy sleeping position this could help you a lot. Hopefully this helps anyone who needs it! submitted by /u/TattoodTato to r/AuDHDWomen [link] [comments]

Are pregnancy pillows worth it?
Has anyone here tried them and found that they actually helped you sleep better and be more comfortable. I'm 6wks pregnant but haven't been able to sleep through the night for about a week and a half. Mostly from having to pee every hour but another part is I just can't get comfortable anymore from back pain and mild cramping that acts up in certain postions. I've been thinking about just getting a pregnancy pillow now, but I'm doubtful it will actually help since I already sleep with a pillow between my legs and one to wrap me arms around anyways but clearly that hasn't helped. submitted by /u/RedactedIsACoolName to r/pregnant [link] [comments]

Verdict is in: "Pregnancy pillow"
I've wanted one of the giant wrap around "pregnancy pillows" for several years now, but things seemed to conspire against my be being able to get one. Finally had the ability a couple of weeks ago to order the one I have been eyeing for over a year, the Yana 360 body pillow with natural latex filling. I got it exactly a week ago and basically began using it immediately. Likely should have waited for it to inflate more pist shipping, but I was tired and sore and wanted a nap then. Its a U shaped pillow and the reviews said it was kind of heavy and too big as the downsides. Personally, I found the weight to be less than my weighted blanket or purse and would have preferred the pillow arms to be almost twice as wide as they are. This pillow may very well be the best purchase I've ever made. I have never slept well consistently, partly because I rotate like a rotisserie chicken to try and find a comfortable way to lay. I put thee top connected part at the base of my pillow collection (wedge and traditional pillows to try and support my neck and help me breathe when asleep.) so that my shoulder fits right into the inside of the U and I have a little better support for my neck. I then wrapped the "arms" of the pillow around me, making sure it's snug to support me, and tuck the ends in between my legs, one closer to my hips and the other between my knees. It makes a circle around me like a nest or cocoon around me, especially when my weighted blanket is added after I get the pillow positioned to my liking. It is absolutely wonderful. My back is in alignment, my hips and shoulders aren't subluxing from sleeping on them, and I've stopped knocking my kneecaps to the side multiple times a night. I feel comfortable and fall asleep a little easier. I don't hurt as constantly or rotate as much in my sleep. I'm also not exactly a small person weight-wise, but it's supportive for me and I could likely fit two more of the pillows in my king size bed and still have room for my husband and kid if they get scared. I can also pull up the part I rest my shoulder/neck on up to support my back when I need to sit up. I made the mistake of dozing off the night before without wrapping myself up in the pillow like I have been. Knees out of place feeling like tendons are all twisted around the knee, my back hurting, and my neck had gotten more movable. I'll be living in my pillow nest for the foreseeable future and I highly recommend this anyone looking for something comfy and functional. Sorry if there are typos, I'm honestly dozing off while trying to remember how to type this on my phone. I'll fix any after I rest some with my wonder pillow. submitted by /u/MagicLadyOtter to r/ehlersdanlos [link] [comments]

Is anyone not using pregnancy pillows?
33 weeks and have yet to get one. I had planned to get the really big one just because it was marketed a lot online but I don’t love the idea of buying something so bulky and not having anywhere to put it after baby arrives (don’t have the space at home) I’ve also just not felt the need to have one. I’m a side sleeper and can sleep through the night pretty easily. I get a bit of hip pain or circulation issues, but it’s usually resolved by turning to the other side. It’s really just an optional thing right? Is it harmful to me or baby not to use one? submitted by /u/limeblue31 to r/pregnant [link] [comments]
