When I unplug the charger, the led slowly pulses yellow, just like it's charging. Except it's not plugged in and it drains the battery overnight. I swapped the battery with a JDM-030 controller, no change in behavior. I also swapped the charge boards and ribbon cable. The problem did not follow the charge port. The JDM-030 worked fine with the JDS-011 while the JDM-011 still pulsed yellow with the JDM-030's charge board/port. Wasn't sure what subreddit to post this in so hopefully this is fine. For years I was fine playing fifa on my PC with my PS4 controller plugged in. I then got my PC completely upgraded, new case, new gpu, new PSU, new cpu and new ram. The PS4 controller continued to work, then I decided to buy a PS5 controller, it worked for a few months then all of a sudden I'm getting an error whenever I try plugging the PS5 controller in, saying the USB port is failed/disconnected, something about it needing too much power which the pc can't handle and then some other USB ports completely fail aswell, then they work again after I restart my pc. PS4 controller then started doing the same thing. Found out I can connect my PS5 controller to my pc via bluetooth but in-game on fifa it's not working properly. I tried charging my PS5 controller through a normal plug and charger and it became scalding hot. (Dodgy charger? maybe that's the cause of the power surge errors?) Overall, does anyone know why the PS4/PS5 controllers aren't working? Is there a way to fix the power surge error? (I've tried multiple different wires and ports for both controllers). I've seen a few of these posts here now where people end up breaking their controller by frying the battery. You can only use a wallcharger if it outputs 5v (and not more!) and 800mA or more. For mA (millieamps, 1000mA = 1amp.) it doesn't matter if its over 800mA because the controller won't ask for more. If its less it will still charge but slower. Its the amount of volts that it outputs that is relevant. If you use a quickcharger wall connector (comes with most new smartphones) it can output 9volts for quickcharging and that will fry your controller as your controller will engage the quickcharging. For those who own galaxy s6 devices, your chargers will fry the batteries within the controller to the point that they won't even work plugged in. If you're concerned that you're going to have trouble keeping them charged, just get a dock, it's cheaper than a new controller.
