What I asked for VS What I got! Idk what to do
I think one of my poses is cursed, my bad LOL 😂 ANYWAY I went for the very first time ever to get my nails done, and idk how to feel. I need someone to tell me if this meets general expectations, or if I need to go back and ask them to fix it. The lines are just so uneven and messy, there's literal fuzz baked into two nails, and even some of the natural nail shaping feels off. I love the colors, but I had to be PUSHYYY to get them. The pretty purple I chose I had to literally find in a book for her, she chose a burgundy color and when I said "no, purple" she stared at me dumbfounded. I looked up the color on my phone and she said "we don't have that". The owner next to us told me to go look in the color book, where I found the exact same color I showed. I also had to push for the right green and right blue, the ones she chose initially were not cohesive together at all. overall I ADORED the salon experience, but I can never go to that specific artist again. I just need to know if these are reason enough to get them redone for free, or if I should just enjoy them as I can til I want a refill and try someone new. TL;DR DID I GET GOT???? 😂 Edit: THANK YOU EVERYONE I felt like I was going crazy 😂😵‍💫 definitely going to call then tomorrow and make sure to get my redemption! CONTEXT: 4.9 stars on google, gorgeous nail art photos. I just had the misfortune of getting the one person who can't do nail art I think I'm upset now bc I think the shape is unsalvageable, it took me a lot of diligence to get them to this length (I'm a stress nail biter and my nails break easily any longer) and now I guess I'll have to regrow the sides 😭 but it'll be a funny story, just like my first pixie haircut fail LOL submitted by /u/outlivingli to r/Nails [link] [comments]

AITAH for not tell my friend my shampoo had green hair dye in it?
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/Friggie-Enthusiast Originally posted to r/AITAH AITAH for not tell my friend my shampoo had green hair dye in it? Original Post: February 22, 2026 I’m a guy with a bright green mohawk. I’ve had green hair for a while. I have to use a lot of hairspray to get it to stick up so I have to wash my hair almost every day. this makes the green fade pretty fast so I mix green hair dye with my shampoo and conditioner to make the color last longer. this is a common thing people with colored hair do. anyways, one of my friends stayed the night at my apartment after a show we went to because she missed her bus. in the morning she asked if she could shower. she obviously didn't have anything of hers because she hadn't planned to stay the night so I let her use my stuff. I showed her how to use my shower and told her to use my husband's shampoo and conditioner because "mine is for my green hair" and she said "okay" I gave her a towel, left, and she took a shower. when she came out I heard her gasp and scream and I asked her if she was okay. she started screaming that her hair was green and sure enough her blonde hair had green splotches all throughout. I asked her why she used my shampoo and conditioner when I told her it was for my green hair and she said she thought I meant it was a good, special shampoo and I just wanted to keep it for myself and that I should have specifically told her it had green dye in it. for context: the bottles are pink and opaque, but the caps are clear and are now stained green. the liquid inside is also green from the dye. I told her I thought it was obvious what I meant, but if she didn't fully understand me, she should've just respected my things enough to not to use them simply because I told her. she did not like that. now she won't talk to me and is telling all our other friends i’m an asshole for not telling her about the dye. maybe I could have been more specific but idk I don't think i’m the asshole here. AITAH? AITAH has no consensus bot, OOP received the majority of NTAs Relevant Comments Commenter 1: Did she not notice it was green when she poured it out into her hand??? OOP: yeah I was thinking the same thing, I would ask her but i’m still left on read Commenter 2: How do you keep it from dying your hands green? I have bright colored hair and the first few times I wash it after coloring, it turns my hands and shower a lovely (/s) pastel shade. OOP: I use lunar tides neon lime, it's really good at not staining your skin. I get that shit all on my face and scalp when I dye my hair and it's gone after one shower. Editor's note: after comments, OOP has posted two pictures to provide more context Picture of OOP's hair and conditioner descriptions of pictures First picture shows OOP taking a mirror selfie of his bright neon green mohawk. The sides of his head are shaved, leaving a strip of longer hair that from the front of his head to the back. The strip of hair has been styled upward and slightly forward as well. OOP also has a section of sideburn hair shown also in the same green color, matching the mohawk. OOP's face is blocked by his phone. Second picture shows OOP holding a hair conditioner bottle with a staining green colored cap, providing the fact that green dye has been used. OOP explained that the original color of the cap was clear prior to his use. end of the descriptions   Update: March 31, 2026 (over one month later) UPDATE: AITAH for not telling my friend my shampoo had green hair dye in it? I know that everyone says this but man I did not expect my previous post to blow up so much. some people have been asking for an update, I’m sorry it took so long but I honestly forgot all about it until I saw a TikTok of some people on a podcast covering my story lol before I get into the update I’d like to clear a few things up. firstly, yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a husband. it's this new thing called "gay" if you haven't heard of it I suggest looking it up on google. secondly, a couple people were accusing me of this story being fake because I put hair dye in my shampoo AND conditioner when apparently you're only supposed to put it in your conditioner as putting hair dye in your shampoo doesn't do anything to maintain the color. I assure you this story is true, I’m just a fucking idiot who likes to waste hair dye apparently. I posted pictures of my mohawk and conditioner bottle to my profile, I hope that's sufficient evidence for you reddit skeptics. onto the update. exactly ONE of the commenters hit the nail right on the head with their prediction. a few days after the incident my friend texted me saying she was sorry for blowing up on me and that it was entirely her fault she messed up her hair and she just took it out on me because she was upset in the moment. she said I was right, she should have respected my things, and now we're cool. I know that must be really disappointing to you all, I got a lot of really harsh comments saying that she was a terrible friend and a terrible person and she must have mental disabilities and that she's too stupid to be allowed to live. you guys a fucking nuts lmao. i've been wronged in much worse ways, stealing a little shampoo is not the end of the world for me. a lot of you were curious as to how she didn't realize the shampoo and conditioner was green and I was too so I asked her. she said she did notice it was green but thought it was like that purple shampoo that doesn't actually turn your hair purple, it just makes it a nice blonde. this was her first time being blonde so I guess a green tinted shampoo was not beyond her imagination. the bottles also say something about color protection on them so I guess that makes sense. as for her hair, she tried using color remover to get the green out and that kinda worked but some spots were still a little minty green so now her hair is this lovely royal blue color which I, personally, think looks much better on her. thank you all for listening to my story and I implore some of you to be a little more forgiving in the future, stealing a little shampoo from your friends shower does not make you Satan. Relevant / Top Comments Commenter 1: Really happy to see this update. Though I'll admit that when I read your original post, my mind immediately went to the Overtone products, which I have used in the past when I had colored hair. Those say right on the packaging the color they deposit in your hair, so I was sitting there wondering if she hadn't read the package when she grabbed it. OOP: nah it wasn't a color depositing shampoo it was just regular color saving shampoo and I added a few tablespoons of my own dye in it Commenter 2: she messed up, got embarrassed, lashed out, then came back and owned it. that's honestly about as healthy as a dumb little friend drama like this can go   DO NOT COMMENT IN LINKED POSTS OR MESSAGE OOPs – BoRU Rule #7 THIS IS A REPOST SUB - I AM NOT OOP submitted by /u/Choice_Evidence1983 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

Carpeted pine stairs → sanded and stained wood (first woodworking project from start to finish)
Listed below is a very rough explanation of the process, what was used, materials, etc. This was actually not an expected project. We had someone in our previous townhome and left it in pretty bad shape when they moved out and got some reason I suggested I could stain and finish them. Lol. The steps are just standard builder's grade yellow pine steps. We ripped the carpet off because it was covered in dog p3e and various stains, and at first we were going to put carpet back on but the cost was pretty daunting, and we worried it'd just need to be replaced again in a couple years. The steps already had bullnoses on them though, but that was basically the only plus. Haha. Besides stains, they had tons of carpet tack strips (some rotting from animal p3e), nasty tack and nail holes, glue, and friendly fire wall paint all over them. I'd never done anything like this and had zero idea what I was doing. I didn't find a lot of support or help from woodworking forums, as my questions were either ignored or people just said things like, "don't do it." and "Pine doesn't stain well." Basically I just had to do tons of research on my own and fumble through it and try things. Anyway, an orbital sander with 40 and 60 grit discs was amazing. The specifically purple ones though (I guess I can't mention brands?). Like 80 grit seems to leave the wood closer to others' 120 or 180 grits. Super confusing. Anyway, I saved a few levels using that kind, and I'm now a huge fan. Pine is crazy soft, so the purple discs got my treads glassy smooth by 120. If I'd gone any finer, I'm sure I'd have burnished them. I was going to go with an oil based Java gel, but long story short, I went with GF water based stain in espesso, and I'm very glad I did. I used the oil based gel on something else and honestly I hated it. Also we tested a few other big-box-available stains, but of course I ended up with one that nobody carries in stores. I attempted pre-conditioning on one step and it actually made everything much worse for some reason, so I ended up with just straight water based stain and several coats of satin poly. Also, the pine sucked the color up like nothing else. You read that you leave it on 30 seconds or so... Nope. Basically I had to apply and wipe off or they'd have been black. I actually had to lighten some up by sanding again because they were too dark at first. Grey scotch pads between poly coats were something I found out way too late. Not until I wash doing the oak steps, which really sucked. They would have made the between-poly-scuffing waaayyyy faster and easier. Boxed disposable microfiber rags were the best way to apply the stain because I didn't need too much, and no brush marks, and just throw them away. Sponge brushes and regular brushes were meh. I used a regular decent quality synthetic brush for the poly, but I'm thinking a good sponge brush would have been better. I've now done the lower level entryway oak steps too, and the difference in how the wood reacts was night and day from beginning to end. Two entirely different beasts. I've learned soooo much in this process. It took forever, but honestly if I'd known how to do it and didn't hyper-research every tiny step, it would have taken a fraction of the time. But I have no idea how to quantify the hours at this point :( It has like 6 coats poly, and yeah I know it's not as durable as oil, and YES I KNOW IT'S PINE so it's not going to last 3 decades, but we're okay with that. We figure whatever is there will need to be fixed up when the next people move out anyway. We also may put some carpet treads on them for safety and to help keep them from getting as beat up as fast. We really liked how they turned out and I'm throwing this up here in case others run into the same option/issue we did with this and are scared off by people telling them not to do it. You definitely need a lot of stuff, and there are definitely a lot of variables, but if you're considering it, you should do it. And even if you do screw something up along the way, everything can be fixed :) submitted by /u/greyyeux to r/DIY [link] [comments]

IDL that my nephew got sent home from school for being gay because he had purple nail polish at six
My sister called me today, crying, to say that her six-year-old son was sent home from school, just because his fingernails were painted purple and green. It wasn’t because the school found anything dangerous, or because he did something wrong. He just painted his nails. On Sunday, he saw his mom painting her nails and said, “I want pretty nails like Mom too.” He likes purple, black, and green, painting his nails makes him happy, like drawing. But when he got to school today, a teacher called him into the office and told him that this look was “not appropriate for boys” and made him go home to change. Are we really in 2025, or did we just travel back to the last century? As a family member, I’m furious. I hate this kind of school environment, it doesn’t teach kids how to think or respect others, it teaches them that they “must fit someone else’s expectations of their gender.” They aren’t raising kids, they’re instilling fear: boys can’t like colors, boys can’t express themselves, or they will be punished. The most ironic part? Nowhere in the school rules does it say “boys can’t wear nail polish.” They just use vague rules and interpret them based on their own stereotypes. A six-year-old boy enjoying colors becomes a problem; a public school treats gender stereotypes like school policy. I hate that this is reality, and I don’t want my nephew to grow up in an environment like this. Kids should learn to respect themselves and others, not be told at six, “you must hide who you really are.” submitted by /u/True-Construction346 to r/I_DONT_LIKE [link] [comments]

My son got sent home from school for having panted nails.
My son is six years old. One day this weekend, he asked to have “pretty fingers” like me (I gushed so hard over how cute he was). So I painted his nails, and he painted mine. He wanted purple, black, and green nails since he loves those colors. But when I sent him to school, they sent him back because they didn’t think it was “appropriate” for a boy. So yeah—fuck them, fuck their gender stereotypes, and fuck what this country is becoming. I can’t wait to move out. EDIT: Yes, I’ve read the handbook of rules. No, it does not specify that he can’t have painted nails. They have vague rules that they interpret however they see fit to follow the even more vague laws of my red state. And if you’re going to tell me my son can’t wear what he wants—get the fuck out. My boy can express himself any goddamn way he wants. For everyone asking, I live in Tennessee, and it’s a charter school. 2 EDIT: Yes I know my spelling and grammar is really bad. I did not grow up with a healthy education and I had to drop out of school at a young age to raise my son submitted by /u/Dismal-Amphibian4187 to r/Vent [link] [comments]

St. Louis Jane Doe is the body of a headless 8-11 year old found in the basement of an abandoned building. Her blood was drained elsewhere and her hands were bound with rope. She was found only wearing a yellow sweater, and had been sexually assaulted. Her nails were painted red and purple.
Unfortunately, the sweater was presumed to be lost in mail after investigators gave it to a psychic, and never revived it back. She is believed to have been killed by strangulation elsewhere (due to lack of blood at the scene), and at the time of discovery was dead for 5 days. It is also believed the blood was drained from her body elsewhere. After strangulation, her head was severed by a large blade, possibly a carving knife. One hand of nails was painted with two coats of red polish, and the other hand with purple polish. She was discovered on February 28, 1983. She is of African American descent. Her body was exhumed in 2023, and isotope testing determined she is from one of 10 southeastern US states. Purple nails…all day?
Last photo is just for context as far as what my fingernails usually look like. I’m going to reach out to my cardiologist either way. I’m diagnosed with Raynaud’s. Just wondering if any of you guys have ever had this experience all day long. Usually it only lasts max 30 min-1 hour for me. And it’s actually kind of rare that my fingernails turn purple, it’s usually only my toenails. I noticed this morning around 8 that they were purple, it’s 1:30 now and it hasn’t gone away. I’ve been sitting on my hands and nothing keeps them warm for more than a minute. It’s gone from annoying, to uncomfortable, to making me want to rip my hair out. submitted by /u/OldMedium8246 to r/Raynauds [link] [comments]

blue/purple nails?
has anyone else noticed that their nails change color? sometimes mine are white, red, purple or a bluish color mostly towards the base. i also sometimes get where a few of my fingers will turn white. i asked my doctor and this and she said that it is mild raynauds. she didn’t diagnose me though, and i don’t know if it’s primary or secondary, but i’ve been having a lot of other issues with my body since this started. so far none of the doctors have found anything wrong with my other issues. i’ll post a photo of mine in the comments. submitted by /u/purpleghostz to r/Raynauds [link] [comments]
