Hi water wizards, I have a Grohe rain shower head that was installed by the previous owner of my home. Many of the holes are blocked and I want to take it off and give it a proper clean, as using a bag with vinegar hasn’t really worked in the past and the big flat shape is hard to immerse with a bag. I don’t know the make and model but I see that there is nowhere for me to unscrew it with a wrench. This is rather annoying as Grohe’s own YouTube page has an advice video for removing rain shower heads with a very clear nut that can be loosened with a wrench. Hard water completely ruined the water flow in my rain shower, and cleaning it was always a hassle. That's why I developed a simple attachment that slides onto the shower head, allowing you to soak it in descaler without having to disassemble anything. I recently stayed at a Holiday Inn in Washington, DC. The shower head was a large square and was like standing in the rain, called Rainshower. It was sooooo nice. So I went online on the Moen site and saw shower heads (just the head) for just under $1000 list, but $722.00 sale price. The one in the hotel lists for $375 and sells for $280. My question is, why are they so expensive? I'm sure they use quality materials, but come on! I assume after years of use you'll still need to descale them. We are redoing our guest bathroom. I'd be thrilled with just a shower head on an adjustable vertical rail. Would a rain showerhead be a worthwhile addition, too? My husband doesn't care too much, but he pointed out that guests might enjoy it. What am I missing? Personally, I find them annoying. They seem useless for washing anything off. As someone with long hair, 9/10 times I don't want get my hair wet, but when I do, the lack of water pressure wouldn't do much to rinse anyway. My experience is it has two modes: standing under it and getting all wet, or not standing under it and being cold. I got my cat on my 9th birthday. She died on my 25th. I had her euthanized at the advice of her vet. Let me break it down. My cat was slowly declining over a week. She had maybe been acting like an "old lady" but I chucked it up to her being so old. I booked her an appointment but they couldn't get her in until the Friday after my birthday. She had been to the vet 6 months early and was given a clean bill of health. Three weeks before she died she started hiding in very weird places. I knew. But I didn't want it to be the case. Then she started refusing to eat the week of. Not even her favorite wet food could entice her. Then she became obsessed with water. She would jump in the shower and just stand in the stream, unphased. Her eyes stopped looking like herself a few days before. As if she was hardly there. She was always an inside cat. Afraid of everything, really. Suddenly she began to dart for the door. I thought she was looking for another place to hide. The day before she died she walked outside and I let her. She seemed to want to see it. It was raining. She walked off of the porch and I trailed behind her. She sat in the grass and just looked around, sniffing. I sat next to her. We sat like that until she was ready to go inside. I woke up the next morning on my birthday and she couldn't walk. She was on the bathroom floor. She couldn't hardly lift her head. She couldn't blink. She couldn't do anything but lay there, completely still. I pulled her on my chest and laid with her for hours. I rocked her. She used to be known for her loud loud purr. It was quiet now. Her eyes were almost completely blank. My husband began calling every vet because I couldn't do anything but hold her and cry. He found us a place that would take an emergency visit. They very quickly deemed it would be the most kind thing to do to put her down. I said it was my birthday. The vet said she was sorry it wasn't a good one. They thought it was something neurological or maybe that she had fallen when hiding somewhere. I will never truly know, I guess. They urged me to put her down. I called my dad. I wanted more than anything him to sort of give me permission, even though I knew it needed to happen. I needed him to say it was okay. He immediately yelled he does not put down animals and that she should die a natural death. But I couldn't fathom letting her go one more hour let alone day in that comatose state. I cried and tried to explain. It didn't work. He didn't mean to, but he made me feel terrible. Worse than I already did. I hung up. I told the vet to put her down. I held her the entire time. She purred one last time. And I never told him I had her euthanized. I don't regret it. I miss her terribly. But I would never want to let her suffer. She was my best friend. She slept wrapped around my neck every night from the time I was 9. When she died she was laying on my neck. I know I did the right thing. It was a beautiful day; the rain stopped after a few days of showering rainfall. I was abut to head to building 100, where all the VIP offices were. I parked the scooter and locked it with my chain locker. Not even 2 hours later, I came back with the chain left, as shown in the photo, cut. DISAPPOINTED, DEVASTATED. I (50F) (ME) rent a place along a river in Ontario, Canada every year in August for 10-14 days. My rental includes exclusive use of a cabin, private deck with hot tub and a furnished gazebo. Mine is the only rental with gazebo. Just east of "my place" is another, smaller cabin with just a dock and a hot tub. I get back from a quick grocery shopping expedition. As I am unpacking my car, a young woman (EW) walks over and climbs on my deck. She has obviously either just showered or just gotten out of the hot tub- she's in a bathrobe. EW: Hi! EW: So, are you staying here alone or do you have your husband and kids with you? Do you own the cabin? How much did it cost? How long have you been here? Bullet quick questions, no pauses for answers. ME: You are in my private space, please leave. EW: I'm just being friendly... ME: No, you are intruding on my space and invading my privacy. Your questions are intrusive and creepy. You will not be doing a photoshoot tomorrow or anytime in my gazebo. Please leave now. EW: No need to get snippy (she says in snippy tone). We are doing the shoot tomorrow so you better not interfere. Given your attitude, I think it's best that you head into town by 8. Don't come back before 2. ME: Not happening. Get off my deck. Get out of my space now. EW: (stamps foot) You are being unreasonable. You're the only one with a gazebo, you need to share! ME: No I don't. Leave NOW. I went into the cabin, locked the door and immediately message the owner. I've been renting here for years, the owner and I have become friends. They didn't show up for their photoshoot. TIFU up taking my wedding ring off at the gym. Longtime lurker, first time poster and I am posting from my phone so please forgive formatting. I have just recently arrived home following this FU. I, a very happily married 36M with a small herd of children have been going to the gym in my little town since November 2022. I always go after getting the kids to bed which generally puts me there around 830pm. The gym I go to has two rooms. One has cardio equipment (ellipticals, treadmills, bikes etc) the other room has free weights and various other torture devices. My routine begins the same every time with 9.1-9.5 miles on the bike, which leaves me in a state similar to that of a walrus that has just managed to pull himself onto an iceberg, very wet and breathing heavy. This process takes me to about 8:55 pm. I enjoy hitting weights at this time because the gym is often (not always) empty and it leaves me to grunt and groan in peace. Tonight the gym was not empty when I entered the weight room. Now I mentioned that I have been going to the gym since early November. In that time I have gotten used to the people that do spend time in the gym past 9 and this person was new. Not a big deal, she had brought her own yoga mat (the ones in the gym are blue and red and this one was tyedyeish) and she had her phone set up on a stand, I assumed she was making a video. Both of these observations were made as I walked down to my trusty bench to start my bent over rows. I grabbed my dumbbells and sat down to continue my ritual and TIFU. I always remove my wedding ring before I lift and tuck it in my right sock for safe keeping. If I try to wear it, it digs into my hand and makes things most unpleasant. (This is a little paraphrased, she swore a little too and I wasn’t taking perfect notes) Me: What? NG: You’re gross. Me: Ok. I proceeded to put my earbuds back in and get to work while she stormed to the other side of the gym and started packing up her stuff. Anyway, I’m rowing away and out of no where I’m blasted with a cascade of liquid which leads me to drop my dumbbell and spin around to see what’s going on. Back in my country, however light the rain is, as long as water is dripping from the sky, people will use umbrellas or anything to cover their heads.
