[CG Review] Spa Scentials Retinol Night Repair Face & Body Oil
Spa Scentials Smooth Retinol Night Repair Face & Body Oil I originally bought the day one and could never find the night one until now! Unlike the day one, this one smells like lovely lavender! It has more of a serum like texture to it. Basics: For my body (after shower, PM), I normally apply any toners that don't work for my face (sometimes I don't, because I finally used it up), then apply this "oil", then lotion and lastly, an occlusive depending on how the weather is (i.e. winter or during really dry weather). While I am not quite sure if it does much, I actually love this! I saw that this company made the scented fragrance "oil" that is similar to this and I'm pretty sure this is the same thing... except this is lavender scented and has some retinol in it. Luckily, like the fragrance oil, it doesn't seem to last 🤣 that or I just smother it with a scented moisturizer on top and it disappears. I'm on a huge lavender kick and think it pairs so well with my coconut scented moisturizers! Also, I have applied it to my face with no issues and scent is very light and gone after a short time. It seems to soak in pretty quickly though can be a touch tacky if applied in excess. It would be nice for warmer weather under a light lotion too, because retinol 😅 I have already bought multiple bottles, just because I figured any tiny amount of retinol may help out. It hasn't done much for my KP, or at least much - the bumps seem smaller, but are still there. A bottle lasts me about 6 weeks of daily use from head to toe (I am a pretty small person in general though). I love that it comes in dropper form though really wish it was in a glass container (can you imagine a serum dropper bottle THAT large and tall?!) so I could reuse it to decant stuff into it and actually have it look nice! I'll probably keep buying this, just because I really enjoy the spa-like feeling while applying it! Feel free to share your thoughts! Edit: name title change thingy. submitted by /u/Coconut-Giraffe to r/dollartreebeauty [link] [comments]

Bondi Sands Retinol Serum thoughts?
Has anyone tried the bondi sands retinol serum? I'm in my mid 20s and have sensitive skin, but i want to try incorporating retinol into my skincare routine. I've been searching up different kinds of retinol recommendations looking for beginner friendly retinol that isnt too expensive and hopefully available at chemist warehouse, mecca or sephora and this was one that popped up. Wanted to know some honest reviews on it and if it would be suitable for a beginner? I've been looking at cerave as well. I'm open to any recommendations, I have sensitive and dry skin most of my skincare is focused on hydrating and soothing using exfoliating toner pads alternatively. submitted by /u/Necessary-Creme-7776 to r/AusSkincare [link] [comments]

Looking for the Best Retinol for Early Fine Lines in My 20s. Reviews & Recommendations?
My boyfriend and I are in our early 20s and looking for a retinol to start using. I want something that’s really effective (best of the best if possible), but I also appreciate budget-friendly options. Looking for the most effective products for the best value and if it’s a splurge, it should be worth every penny. We are a huge fan of Korean skincare but have not found any Korean retinol brands. I’ve started noticing very minor lines on my forehead when I open my eyes wide or scrunch my forehead, so my goal is to prevent wrinkles and fine lines early with good skincare. So far, these are the retinol products I’m considering that were either recommended by dermatologists or on reddit: Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Moisturizer Cream — about $29 ⭐ 4.7/5 stars (38k reviews) Medik8 Crystal Retinal 3 — about $55 ⭐ 4.7/5 stars (8.5k reviews) LilyAna Naturals Retinol Cream — about $23 ⭐ 4.8/5 stars (5k reviews) CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Face Serum — about $18 ⭐ 4.8/5 stars (19k reviews) SOME BY MI Retinol Intense Reactivating Serum (30ml) — about $22 ⭐ 4.8/5 stars (8k reviews) If anyone has experience with these, I’d love to hear which one you think works best, especially for preventing early fine lines in your 20s. I’m also open to hearing any other recommendations or what anyone else is using for retinol products! submitted by /u/lowtideangel to r/koreanskincare [link] [comments]

Hi everyone, Has anyone used this Neutrogena Retinol Serum?I’m thinking of trying Retinol Serum for anti-aging and overall skin texture improvement. I have oily, acne-prone skin. Not very sensitive. Is this a good retinol? Or should I consider something else instead? Would love honest reviews. Thanks! submitted by /u/Alluduseenu992 to r/IndianSkincareAddicts [link] [comments]

Side by side review of SCD's old (left) and new (right) retinol
I recently bought the SCD retinol serum and had the chance para mareview sya. Let's start with the packaging! Front side - Old packaging is embossed ng featueres, has texture and mas sosyalin hawakan kasi nakaumbok yung text and yung logo ng SCD ay may golden features. Wala itong texture and embossment sa new packaging pero andito si Az which makes it standout na kagad from afar. In Conclusion: - Old packaging, mas maganda sa texture and colors dahil sa texture and colors nya. Souvenir ko to ng transition nila to making Az their ambassador. - Di ko pa mareview yung serum mismo kasi ilang araw ko palang ginagamit pero so far walang irritation and hiyang ako sa product. submitted by /u/Civilized_Enigma to r/AZMartinez [link] [comments]

[Acne] Struggled with a decade of acne and been clear for 5 years. Here is everything I’ve tried vs everything that’s worked + my current routine.
pic 1: taken AFTER my accutane course. my acne here is still much better in this then it used to be. Apologies for the low quality, I hated pictures because I was super insecure hence why I don’t have ones from before accutane either. pic 2: makeup only on my eyes and lips, nothing on my skin except sunscreen and moisturizer. My eyebrows are microbladed. FULL DISCLOSURE #1: I am not a dermatologist nor a licensed esthetician. I am a registered nurse with a basic understanding of microbiology and human anatomy who has spent way too many hours on skincare YouTube. What I’ve detailed below is what worked for me, and by no means what works for everyone else. FULL DISCLOSURE #2: I’ve had pico laser done once in office to help with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation as well as laser removal of my flat facial moles. FULL DISCLOSURE #3: I am not sponsored by, nor do I have any conflict of interest with any of these brands I list. Things I’ve tried that didn’t work (before y’all come for me please remember that I started this journey when I was like 10 😂) - benzoyl peroxide (I am allergic 😭) - spironolactone - clay masks - scrubs/ physical exfoliation (St. Ives 😱) - peel off masks - salicylic acid acne clearing pads - proactiv (the entire set) - pore strips - Mario badescu drying lotion - witch hazel - Clinique clarifying lotion - 10 step Korean skin care routine (I didn’t curate it, I just bought blindly based off of what had good reviews 🤦♀️) - snail mucin - essence and/ or toner - Chinese medicine (I don’t even know what I was taking tbh.) - not moisturizing “because I was too oily” - any type of DIY mask (lemon juice, egg, honey, olive oil, yogurt, rice water, u name it) - topical clindamycin Things that worked but don’t currently use: - Accutane (I did a 6 month course; acne came back eventually but SO much improvement in severity) - CeraVe SA cleanser - rx Sodium Sulfacetamide cleanser (cleansing with sulfur is one of the things I truly believe saved my skin. I still break out when I go without my sulfur for too long. I think it’s bullshit when people say your face wash doesn’t matter - sulfur absolutely matters for me) - oral doxycycline (worked only while I was actively using, but was worried about antimicrobial resistance) - ZitSticka Skin Discipline multivitamin capsules (genuinely helped my skin but was too expensive and was able to wean off of them over the course of trial and error x 1 year) Current Regimen AM: - cleanse CeraVe hydrating cream to foam cleanser - serum: glossier super pure (niacinamide and zinc - been repurchasing this for over 6 years now) - moisturizer: glossier after baume (my HG moisturizer: super thick and luxurious but doesn’t break me out) - sunscreen + vit c: melano CC sunscreen spf 50++++ PM - first cleanse: glossier milky jelly cleansing balm (doesn’t really matter what first step cleanser I use tbh. I’ve used banila co, the inkey list, CeraVe makeup balm, etc. as long as it removes makeup and sunscreen well I’m good) - second cleanse: Dermaharmony 5% Sulfur and 2% Salicylic Acid Liquid Castile Soap (I switched to this from using CeraVe SA + rx Sulfur cleanser because I was tired to carrying around 2 bottles as well as having to get an rx for my sulfur wash. I absolutely still need Salicylic acid AND sulfur in my regimen. - moisturizer: glossier after baume - agency skincare formula for hyperpigmentation: tretinoin 0.035% + tranexamic acid 5% + dexpanthenol 1% + niacinamide 4% - when I’m super dry, esp in the winter: Elizabeth Arden advanced ceramide capsule (I usually just use like 1/3 of a capsule and leave the rest in the clean spot for later. Glossier future dew works okay too, just doesn’t spread as nicely) + I skip my retinol for a night General rules (these are also critically important) 1. Don’t touch your face unless you’ve just washed your hands. 2. Dedicate a towel for your face and treat it like it’s sterile. Don’t use it for anything else but your face. Don’t hang it near the toilet (invisible fecal particles erupt from your toilet when u flush). 3. Change your face towel and your pillowcases at LEAST every 4ish days. I like to do every 2. I have a million old T-shirts that can be used as pillowcases. When a side gets “old”, flip it to the other side and you’re gucci. 4. Pat when you’re drying with a towel. Be gentle. Don’t rub your face ever. I also prefer to lather my face wash with a foaming net until I have a thick, dense cloud. You don’t want to be tugging or manually scrubbing at your skin. Let the micro bubbles do the work. 5. Please wash that damn makeup sponge/ brush with soap and water after every use 😩 and deep clean with boiling water if it’s safe to do so every couple of uses. I just throw my wet beauty blender in the microwave with some water in a bowl for 3 minutes every 6-7 uses (the manufacturer does not recommend this as it may cause the blender to deform or lose integrity. I’ve never had an issue. Move forward at your own discretion) Treat your makeup like it’s sterile too - only a clean brush/ clean finger is allowed to touch it. Sorry it’s so long! I hope this helps someone :) submitted by /u/plaesma to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

Reviews of Every Serum I Tried from Jan to Aug
Hi everyone :) I have pretty sensitive, acne-prone skin, so I’m always on the lookout for serums that gently take care of my skin concerns without causing irritation. From January to August this year, I tried quite a few serums across dry winter to humid summer conditions, and wanted to share my honest thoughts. Everything on this list is something I would consider buying again. I’m not including the fails here. These are all good in my opinion, but a few stood out the most and became my favorites. [My Skin Type & Climate] Sensitive, Acne-prone, Dehydrated skin Used across: January to August (dry → humid seasons) [Product List] SUNGBOON EDITOR Green Tomato Pore Lifting Ampoule WELLAGE Real Hyaluronic Blue Ampoule 100 AESTURA A-Cica 365 Soothing Relief Serum pH4.5 FULLY Green Tomato Serum EQQUALBERRY Bakuchiol Plumping Serum EQQUALBERRY Vitamin Illuminating Serum Centellian 24 360º Shot PDRN Active Serum BANO Milk Thistle Repair Serum GOODAL Black Carrot VITA-A Retinol Ampoule SOONDING Coconut Water Glow Calming Serum Mixsoon Bean Essence MAKE P:REM End Pore Vegetinol Tightening Serum innisfree Retinol Cica Serum FATION NOSCA9 Soothing Serum S beplain Mung Bean Pore Tight-Up Serum [My Best Picks] 🧡Retinol GOODAL Black Carrot VITA-A Retinol Ampoule: My favorite retinol serum. Retinol works but can be harsh for sensitive skin. The Innisfree Retinol Cica Serum was also effective, but on days when my skin barrier felt weak, it sometimes stung. Still, it proved that retinol really works. The GOODAL ampoule gave me similar results without irritation and left my skin feeling firmer after use. 💜Bakuchiol EQQUALBERRY Bakuchiol Plumping Serum: A good option if you don’t want to use retinol. I thought bakuchiol might be overhyped, but this serum actually worked. The smell isn’t great, but it’s gentle, hydrating, and gave me retinol-like results without irritation. Great for dry or sensitive skin. 🩵Hydration SOONDING Coconut Water Glow Calming Serum: My go-to for hydration. I first tried their jelly cleanser and loved it, so I gave this serum a shot. Now, if my skin is red and stings from everything, I just use this. It always calms my skin down. 💙Soothing & Nourishing BANO Milk Thistle Repair Serum: A favorite. Similar to the Soonding serum for calming, but this one also adds rich nourishment. I notice results after just one use. Works well in all seasons — never too heavy in summer or too light in winter. 🩷Acne-Calming FATION NOSCA9 Soothing Serum S: My pick for breakouts. A gentle cica-based serum that calms pimples without stinging. Breakouts heal faster when I use this. 💛Vitamin C EQQUALBERRY Vitamin Illuminating Serum: Changed my view of vitamin C. I expected irritation, but this was gentle. I used it mostly on my body over summer (elbows and back), and it helped fade dark spots and acne marks. 🩶Pore Care SUNGBOON EDITOR Green Tomato Pore Lifting Ampoule: I use this when pores on my cheeks and nose look enlarged. It gives a tightening effect and makes my skin feel smoother right away. [Additional Notes on Other Serums] WELLAGE Real Hyaluronic Blue Ampoule 100: A long-time favorite for hydration. Sometimes it feels like just “water on the skin,” depending on my skin condition, but it’s non-irritating and reliable for gentle moisture care. AESTURA A-Cica 365 Soothing Relief Serum pH4.5: Recently started using this one. So far it’s great for soothing, though I need more time for a full verdict. If you already like Aestura products, you’ll probably enjoy this. Centellian 24 360º Shot PDRN Active Serum: Too rich and heavy for my skin type. I think it would be better suited for drier skin or someone looking for deep nourishment. On me, it felt like it sat on top of my skin. Mixsoon Bean Essence: Similar to snail mucin in texture — stretchy and a bit sticky. Oily skin types may dislike it. I only use it at night during dry seasons, and it leaves my skin firm and plump by morning. Not something I’d use every day, but a nice boost when needed. MAKE P:REM End Pore Vegetinol Tightening Serum: Lightweight, absorbs easily, and gives a plumping/tightening effect. I wouldn’t call it life-changing, but it’s refreshing to use. FULLY Green Tomato Serum: A gentle serum with a watery texture. I liked the hydration, but compared to the Sungboon Editor ampoule, this one felt less impactful. innisfree Retinol Cica Serum: This was my very first retinol serum. Honestly, I loved how smooth my skin felt right away — it definitely softened my texture. I didn’t see much difference with spots or pores, though, and on days when my skin wasn’t in good condition, it could feel a bit harsh. beplain Mung Bean Pore Tight-Up Serum: Picked this up on a trip to Korea after an Olive Young staff recommendation. It has a light texture and is supposed to have a cooling effect, but I personally didn’t notice much of that. Still, it’s refreshing enough for summer. These were my standouts, but honestly I liked something about every product on the list. I’ll keep rotating depending on my skin’s needs and the season. I hope my review was helpful! submitted by /u/Active_Rub_4903 to r/AsianBeauty [link] [comments]

To all the niacinamide serums I've loved before...A quick review of all the serums I've tried over the last 6 years
This is a quick review of all the niacinamide serums I've used over the last six years. As someone who pretty much uses a product with niacinamide daily, I like to use a dedicated serum for both morning and night. It’s my first step after cleansing, applied to damp skin. Why I use it I've personally found when I'm consistent with niacinamide in my routine, my breakouts happen less, my skin is more oil-controlled, my texture is less prominent, and my scarring from post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation fades quicker. Do you need to use it? No, you absolutely don't. Because you're probably already using it without realising, it's in your moisturiser, your all-rounder serum, and sometimes even your makeup. Niacinamide has blown up in popularity and it’s now very common in toners, moisturisers, face washes and everything in between at generous and effective amounts. So you really don’t need to double up. Textures To keep things clear, I’m going to describe textures either as a light gel, a serum gel, or a lotion. A gel example would be the TBH Rebound Serum. A classic serum would be the Avène HAB3. A lotion texture, The Ordinary’s 4% Emulsion. How much % do you need (or want)? More isn’t always better and some people find this ingredient really sensitising. General consensus with skincare users I've chatted to and a few studies I've seen floating around back that niacinamide is effective (and well-tolerated) at concentrations between 2% and 5%. My bias Because of how much I use niacinamide, I prefer formulas that are affordable. My skin tolerates it well (can you tell?), so I use higher percentages and do find improvements when I do. I tend to go for niacinamide plus zinc when I’ve got breakouts, and niacinamide plus calming ingredients like panthenol when I’m using retinol or feeling sensitive. My top 3 The Ordinary Niacinamide 5% Emulsion Bondi Sands Begin Again Niacinamide 10% + Zinc Facetheory Porebright N10 Reviews Naturium Niacinamide Serum 12% + Zinc 2% ~ $33.95 Texture: Elegant gel, plush and hydrating. Great packaging, effective at oil control, and layers well with other steps. I’ve been through 3 or so bottles, and since I started using this they’ve expanded their niacinamide range, so you might prefer opting for the multitasking moisturiser. I like that it provides noticeable hydration that you don’t typically see with the % and zinc combo. Avène Hyaluron Activ B3 (6% Niacinamide, 1.5% HA) ~$63.99 Texture: Classic plumping serum, thin on the skin. This one is made to be plumping and soothing. It sits beautifully under makeup and is one of the more elegant true plumping serums. TBH Rebound Serum ~$49.99 Texture: Light gel Gentle and reliable for oily or acne-prone skin, has lots of calming ingredients and isn’t advertised as a niacinamide serum, but still uses it at a proven % (I can’t recall the exact %, but it’s on the lower side as the focus is repairing with the other ingredients). Bioderma Hydrabio Hyalu+ Serum Texture: Classic serum, very thin on the skin. Contains niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. More of a hydration booster than a B3 focus, but it’s thinner than the other true serum textures I’ve seen. It’s very enjoyable to use. La Roche-Posay Mela B3 Serum (10% Niacinamide) Texture: Lotiony Richer consistency, nice for dry or flakey skin, but I enjoyed using it both when using a vitamin A and not. The Mela of the Mela B3 is fantastic, and I’d highly recommend this one for notable fading of dark spots. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% – $13 Texture: True serum Iconic and affordable. Might be too strong or drying for some, but works well for many. Personally this really wasn’t for me, and I always felt meh or struggled with pilling when I used it. There was no experience factor which I guess is more important to me than I figured. The Ordinary Niacinamide 5% Emulsion ~$21 Texture: Lotiony A milder version with a hydrating emulsion feel. Great for sensitive skin, calming, doesn’t break me out even though it’s for body too. This for me personally is perfect, and the bottle is huge. Tick tick tick. Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum (~5% Niacinamide ) ~$22 Texture: Gel Perfect for oily or combination skin. Pros: affordable, soothing, good packaging. Cons: not super hydrating, texture is average. Barni Skin Holiday Glow ~$49.99 Texture: Serum with encapsulated vitamin E, turns lotiony Multi-tasker with glycerin, panthenol and antioxidants. A pleasure to use. I’ve been through 2 bottles and really enjoyed both. Lots of extras that aren’t mentioned on the bottle like panthenol and glycerin. Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops ~$55 Texture: Plush gel Smells cute, wasn’t for me personally. The texture wasn't too enjoyable and I felt confused how and when to use it (esp in terms of when to use SPF) as it doubles as a primer. Gifted it on. Ultraceuticals Ultra B2 Hydrating Serum ~$115 Texture: True serum Hydrating, plumping, and a little more plush than others with this texture. Yes it worked well, but it’s too $$ for my personal budget. Skinstitut 10% Niacinamide Power Serum ~$69 Texture: Lotiony Rich, emollient, and great for dry or acne-prone skin on vitamin A. This is the richest niacinamide serum I’ve used which initially intimidated me, but it didn’t cause any congestion. The richness seems to come from the cucumber oil and the richer blend of emollients. SVR B3 Ampoule Hydra ~$65 5% Niacinamide Texture: Plumping serum I’ve been through 5+ bottles of this. It’s plumping and hydrating and was my go-to when I was wearing makeup regularly because of how it preps the skin. Ideal for those who love hyaluronic acid serums but want the niacinamide too. Simple Niacinamide Serum ~$14 10%* Niacinamide blend (The full blend of the B vitamins is 10%, the actual niacinamide I think is closer to 5%) Texture: Lotiony Smells like rice which I like. No pilling, works well with makeup, and gives lasting hydration. A very popular one because it’s easy to find and affordable, and noticeably calms down angry skin. A little better for drier skin types. Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum ~$16 Texture: Serum Reliable and budget-friendly. It didn’t wow me, and the brand is hard to get in Australia so it slipped off my radar. Facetheory Niacinamide 20% ~$40 Texture: Thin serum, a little oily because of the blend. High strength, not for anyone who’s sensitive. Works wonders for my hyperpigmentation. The AU version has aloe vera and the EU version has azelaic acid at a very low %. I really like the Facetheory ones because of how spreadable they are. Bondi Sands Begin Again Niacinamide ~$16 10% Niacinamide + Zinc Texture: Lotion Silky, light and layers well with makeup. Affordable and effective. Smooths texture and speeds recovery. It’s affordable, accessible and has a nice amount of niacinamide and zinc. This is probably the one I recommend the most because of the price point and packaging. Great for more active spots because of the zinc. Dewy & Bae Nice Plumtide Serum ~$52 Texture: Gel Peptides and niacinamide combo before it was cool. Haven’t used this one in years, but gosh, I really enjoyed it when I did, and went through 3 bottles. Lightweight but hydrating. SkinCeuticals Metacell Renewal B3 ~$160 5% Niacinamide Texture: Slippery gel Pricey. Results were great. It’s just out of my budget for a repurchase. Facetheory Porebright N10 ~$40 10% Niacinamide + Azelaic + Salicylic Acid. AU and EU version differ again. Texture: Thin serum, a little oily Minimal formula, no pilling, great spreadability, noticeably fewer breakouts, and if you’re actively blemish prone then the salicylic acid in it does seem to really help my skin. Saint Louve Vitamin B3, B5 & Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum ~$119.95 12% Niacinamide, 1% Panthenol Texture: Serum Feels premium, it’s great honestly. It is however out of my personal budget. Great option for sensitive skin needing support. Paula’s Choice 20% Niacinamide ~$75 Texture: Serum Helped fade my scarring. Very thin and lightweight. 20ml size made me sad. Dermalogica Smart Response Serum ~$215 Texture: Lotion A luxury pick. I won’t justify this. It is unfortunately amazing, and also over $200. Unichi Wellness 11 Pearls Brightening ~$35 Texture: Serum Brightening with a soft pearl finish. 50ml size and accessible price. I used the whole bottle but didn’t go back to it. I used this years ago now. A’kin Intensive Sebum Controller ~$25.99 Texture: Lotiony emulsion High niacinamide with tea tree and vitamin C. Great for oil control and scarring. Might not suit dry or sensitive skin because of the essential oils. This was before I knew I was sensitive to vitamin C, and when I stopped using it I felt my skin chill out more. In saying that, I did really enjoy so much about this serum and if you’re not sensitive to vitamin C you should give it a go. Any questions? What serum would you add? I know I’m embarrassingly sparse in the K and J beauty areas, so if there’s any HGs you can recommend I’ll pick them up. *some PR samples, most I’ve bought myself or repurchased myself :) submitted by /u/MinnieMakeupReviews to r/AusSkincare [link] [comments]

Spent 30k+ On Lasers/Skincare - Here are My Hacks and Takeaways
Hi guys! *For title it should be Lasers/Skincare/Beauty Hacks *I have tan skin so lasers are a bit complicated due to risk of hyperpigmentation I.e. IPL not mentioned DISCLAIMER: PLEASE double check this with the science, before/afters, own skin and goals, and research articles. I'm not a dermatologist but a majority of my friend circle are physicians and we all do this anyhow before trying anything. I don't have time to cite articles etc and this is just MY experience SO I thought after spending so much money and buying all the overhyped products I should share what worked for me to reduce my skincare regimen and allow me to be makeup free for work. So I've been deep into skincare for a long time and I wanted to officially share it as a lot of my friends asked me to. We don't gatekeep here and I thought Reddit would be the best place. My background: I'm into digital portraits and it requires an understanding of good ratios of the face. I'm also into deep diving into skincare hacks like all of us. Here's what I think works off the top of my head. Procedures Ultraclear + Coring: forget ponytail facelifts, lip lifts, belphs, skinpinch, brow lifts, etc until you try this first. A good tech can get you the results you want. Ask to core where you want max lift. Make sure they pass with all the levels. It's painful so use your own numbing cream (I think some Russian brands are stronger available online), numb for a long time, and opt for the laughing gas or whatever. Make sure to have them use eye shields for your eyes. Have them core in the direction of the lift you want. Ask for a map of how they did it. You'll want 2-3 over a year to get the full lift you want. Nothing supersedes this procedure. For healing: 10% vinegar soaks + ointment + Benev exosomes + Alastin skin nectar. Hydroquinone to prevent spots from forming. Moxi Level 3: It works REALLY well but it's a baby compared to Ultraclear. Make sure to try level 3 for maximum lift. You can do a series of 3 if you're not ready for Ultraclear. Fontana 4D: It also works REALLY well and can contour your cheeks skin the buccal fat removal. Moxi Level3/Fontana 4D def made me hot again after 20lb weight loss causing signs of aging before my wedding. Again do a series of 3 for max results. Ultraclear did the most though, I would do all 3 until I die or go broke. BBL Laser: It works and makes you look like you have foundation on (and gets rid of under eye darkness) but because of techs fears of hyperpigmentation (a real fear) it's hard to find someone to do it. PRF/EZGEL: My under eyes looked better but also the swelling stretched out the skin so it also looks worse? Not worth it. PRF or PRP is useless, the gel is the only thing worth trying. Laser Hair Removal: Make sure they are using the newest machine that is practically painless, find a center that does a full body membership it's cheaper, you'll need 8-12 sessions. The painless one is worth it just get it done all over at Morpheus: painful and melts fat stay away. I did it 3 times, it got rid of my beautiful under eye fat pads, it slimmed my buccal fat, and it got rid of some acne though. It's not worth it due to pain and fat melting and lack of skin tightness effects it so claims. Katalyst EMS Suit >> Emsculpt: They cost the same and both work but you can keep Katalyst for life. Just use settings on abs/butt and get up to level 400, you can thank me later! I had Emsculpt 5X on butt and AB's, it works temporary, now we own. 2 Katalyst suits and they make sure fit whenever we want and honestly just as fast. Emsella: Amazing for sex drive and preventing or helping with prolapse issues! Also works for urinary issues post kids :). Do 6 sessions for prevention and amazing sex. Coolsculpt: Bullshit. Can burn skin btw. HIFU: Melts fat. But it works:) so use in the right areas. J Plasma: feels like lightening bolts attacking skin and limited outcome, stay away. PDO Threads: Forget it, painful, invasive, temporary. Omnilux Redlight Mask: Get the MENS version. It works. Jovs: it breaks apparently l but I'm gonna try it and update yall later. Also curious about Amiro devices given what they say they do/tech they use. ZIIP Halo + Silver Gel >Nuface: It works better than all the other main home microcurrent devices I've tried (nuface, medicube, 2 others on amazon) get the silver serum as daily easy skincare. Forget the other ones. Things on my list: Sofwave, Emface (per reviews sounds useless?), Syllifirm, Profound, comment and lmk I'll try it if it sounds safe and effective. Injections: Botox: Prevent wrinkles (but tbh this is BS until you have a baby line forming), get rid of wrinkles, shrinks muscle. What I've liked: TMJ/Jaw Slimming (30-50U per side), TRAP TOX (amazing and makes your neck longer), LIP FLIP, NOSE TIP, BROW LIFT (only do the tail of the brow not the whole brow) and PLATYSMA (prevents face sagging and actually works, prob the most underrated and important area for Botox!). Filler: Deep Lasers ("lift" = volume) >> Sculptra (natural body makes volume) >> Slow Down on Fillers >> Injector >> Price/Injectable. Fly to the right person LA, Miami, or New York. Make sure the area they inject, they do often. Treat multiple areas BUT WITH 1/3 THE ACTUAL DOSE you want and go again twice. This prevents the botched look. Dissolve overfilled lips, it hurts, but it's worth it. ALA/Glutathione/Vit C: Shrinks pores and evens out skin tone. Make sure to add ALA for max pore shrinking. It also helps regulate sugar. You can also opt for liposomal. Go to a reputable IV center and make sure to have labs to get ALA. Peels/SkinCare: 30%+ Glycolic Acid On Body - Fast way to clear scars and evens out skin tone. Start low and increase slowly to prevent a burn. TCA Peel - Amazing for anti-aging tbh. But go to a spa and have them do it (face or full body) because it's more serious. Musely Spot Cream - Amazing stuff if you're lazy like me and don't like to do 100 things. Combines all the stuff you want for face skincare. Apostrophe Triple Cream for Rosacea - Top 3 ingredients that work for rosacea in 1 bottle. Also look into low dose naltrexone. Also moxi or ultraclear helps. Benev Exosomes + Microneedling: Use for scars and face/body with a home microneedling pen (max the number of needles Dr Pen is good). Calecium Exosomes + Microneedling: A godsend for hair growth. Retinol Gel .1% + Stack With Hydration: get it prescribed. Level up to max %, look up how to layer with coconut oil/moisturizers/Benev to prevent the ugly phase (breakouts, dry skin). Don't need if have Musely spot cream or alternate days. Clindamycin/Benzyl Peroxide Compound Cream: Get it prescribed and store it fridge now. It's the only thing that reliably clears up my acne overnight (I've tried dozens of acne products over 16 years). Alastin Skin Nectar: My main moisturizer post laser. * Wanted to add for Daily I use Prakti Maha mask because it works like under eye filler almost when you stack it on and gets rid of my acne without extra stuff about 60-70% of the time. I combine with Clarins double serum or snail stuff just depends. Also considering plated exosomes. Ourself Lip Plumping: If you don't want lip filler or just want to maximize lip size try this brand it's from the makers of one of the actual fillers and it works. Minoxidil>Grandelash>Latisse: Latisse darks eyelids /under eyes and lose eye fat so stay away!! It's so hard to get that fat back!! Use castor oil for eyelash durability and oral minoxidil for eyelash growth. Pills: Oral Minoxidil: Max your eyelashes and hair volume Low Dose Accutane: Freeze eggs before doing this. Derm will prescribe for chronic acne especially if on back etc. It will also help reduce size of tip of nose if issues with rosacea or thick skin. Gets rid of acne but horrible side effects even at a low dose. Spirinolactone: NOT FOR ME - will give me headache, dehydration, makes me dumb because I'm so dehydrated, worse breakout for months, also just not worth taking this pill. It may work for others? Eyes: Lumify (duh) Hair: Nanoplastia > Keratin Straightening > KBond20 > Olaplex > Dyson Teeth: SMILE Whitening (in office dental procedure) INSANE will get you white instantly Request for double frequency teeth cleanings Purple Toothpaste = Safe Alternative to Home Teeth Whitening that works better Boka Nanohhydroxy Toothpaste (so you don't loose enamel) Toothbrush with Water Flosser Combined (another lazy girl hack) Therabreath (contains xylitol known to prevent cavities) Mind Hacks: TDCS headband :) works for insomnia, works for mood I'll copy past all my comments into above later I use Elemind headband + Calm Sleep Powder for sleep after having sleep issues - (don't want to take meds, Benadryl is very bad for long term health and linked to increased dementia risk) Multivitamin: Make sure it has 5 methylfolate not "folic" acid. Try pure encapsulations or if you want to eat food-source multi try TEND prenatal bar chocolate flavor. Vit D: Try to get level to 60-90 it's suppose to help with a lot of things including depression!! Alzheimer prevention! Even used by oncologists to decrese cancer risk!! I take 50k unit every week and recheck my level after a month to make sure it's atleast 80. I used to have depression. Astaxanthin: 2000x more potent antioxidant than Vit C. It can give you an orangish glow if you overuse or if you're aiming for that! I used to use Vit c and other antioxidants. Omega 3/DHA (fish derived not algae!): Take it or eat fish it's good for you. DHA 1000mg I've been using for 10 years and it makes me smarter and remember more for exams etc. Silica Drops + Collagen 10G Daily w Hylaronic Acid + 100G Protein Daily > Nutrafol > Biotin/Hair Nail Vitamins: yes the standard female nutrafol works, I prefer Minodixil it's faster and better for me and less big pills lol. 1G Water A Day - Eat good food, drink water. Take collagen, eat protein 100G daily, fat 50G daily. Otherwise this is useless. ADD POTASSIUM (prime powder packets) to SLIM FACE SWELLING. Add gua sha or lymph suction drainage also to help. Sauna/Ice Water on Face also works. Low Fat is a FAD - Hit 50G fat a day - obv is you need to optimize weight lower calories and cut inflammatory food like most non vegetable carbs. You can take a food allergy test also and optimize. For example no tomato skins, no onions for us. Exercise (weights good for bones: BUT for brain benefits it's only with aerobic workouts!): increased bdnf and prevents depression also improved blood flow from skin - look into the research and thank me later - you need to burn 1200cal a week to hit this Dairy Does Cause Breakouts - cut it out and see if there's a change for acne Colustrum: ARMRA works better than others but they all work. It's good for gut health aka good for skin. Seed Probiotic: the best strains here. Rosacea/Autoimmune Skin Stuff: Look into low dose naltrexone and astaxanthin. Autoimmune issues cause the face to look puffy! PCOS/Hunger Cravings: Inositol 6G powder or gummy inositol/myoinositol Vitamin: Tend Prenatal Bar (hate daily pills) Gummy CoQ10 200mg Tru Niagen NAD+ (gives me energy) OM matcha mushroom powder (this flavor specifically has a blend that makes me happy/laughing next day, I use when stressed) Silica Drops (makes my hair shiny, nails stronger within weeks) Zinc Picolinate 30mg (if sick or acne) Fisetin (or Qualia monthly) gets rid of dead cells I just feel good when I take it Vital Protein Collagen/Hylaronic Acid Dessicated Beef Liver or Shilajit (micronutrients) Multivitamin: Pure Encapsulations ONE I don't take pills daily except multivitamin or depending on my aim. But these are what work for me and what I've read that makes sense and I've tried without side effects and some benefit x Inpsitol is a miracle that everyone should know about it'll legit make you less anxious too Deodorant: Chlorella Liquid (removes body odor) > Native > Certaindri. want to try the weekly devices out there that actually stop sweating but weighing risks. Native covers me all day smelling good and I used to sweat through EVERYTHING. Nails: basic - sally hansen hard as nails clear (drop 3-4 magenta drops of any brand in for a natural pink nail look) - silica drops make nails tough af - only do RUSSIAN manicures they are magic thank me later SUN: the sun is your enemy for skincare, it's time to be aware of this all the time! Legally UV tint the max of your front car window (there's a way to uv protect without darkening so it's legal). Always wear long sleeves or a hat. Cover face with hand when walking and unprotected. I use supergoop clear sun stick because I'm lazy and it's a stick and doesn't have white caste. I'm sure there's better ones but this is the best clear stick I found. The powder makeup ones are BS and don't actually protect you. A HAT + Long Sleeves >> Weight Loss: I have a chubby face if my BMI is above 19 genetically. Find the BMI you need for optimizing your face. I drink all my water before eating. I drink black decaf with monk fruit (stevia is not as safe, Splenda is bad news) instead of lattes. I put all my food on a salad instead of rice. I don't eat grain carbs because it makes me bloated. I eat spinach daily because it has highest potassium (reduces face bloating). I try to have have less than 1.5G salt daily. I also make sure there is IODINE in my salt for my thyroid (pink salt is causing iodine deficiencies and thus thyroid issues!). No dairy because it gives me acne (try cashew milk 25 cal). I hit 100G protein via NATURAL NO POWDER sources. Then I sleep by getting my fat intake (50g) and veggies cooked with seasoning I like or whatever I want to eat (kind of a baby Intermittant fast but more lax). If I'm craving sweets I eat frozen fruit and add fake honey (monk fruit sweetened avail sprouts). If you made it this far, the most important thing is to be at a healthy weight, eat right, drink water, no alcohol (I've heard from friends: Passion flower extract "anxiety" > IV NAD (addiction)), no smoking(I've heard from friends: Chantix > Wellbutrin> Nicotine Patch > Tapering Nicotine Vape ), no all nighters (if insomnia look above TDCS headband elemind > Calm Sleep Powder > Sublingual Melatonin). This is all I could think of but I've tried a lot feel free to DM me. I've also deep dived into fertility and dementia stuff for friends/family! If you want reccs DM! You can fact check me but I research this stuff just like we all do so you'll find out or realize this is likely the consensus. submitted by /u/Mindmaster04129 to r/30PlusSkinCare [link] [comments]

Chemist's Review: Luxe Organix Retinol + Gluta Youthful Radiance Whitening Serum Lotion
Next, Polyglyceryl-10, what? Incomplete yung ingredient name. Amoy poon yung fragrance. May microfoaming during application.

[Review] First Time Trying Retinal — KSECRET SEOUL 1988 Serum (Retinal Liposome 2% + Black Ginseng)
Hey AB fam, Just wanted to share a quick review about my experience so far with the KSECRET - SEOUL 1988 Serum! This is actually my first time trying retinal (not to be confused with retinol 👀), although I have used retinol before. I was a little nervous at first because retinal is supposed to be stronger, but honestly? It's been so chill. No irritation, no weird peeling, no "help why is my face spicy" moments — just smooth sailing. 🛶 The texture of the serum is really nice — lightweight but still hydrating, probably thanks to glycerin and macadamia oil. I also love that it has black ginseng; it feels very "I drink 8 glasses of water a day and mind my business" for my skin. 😂 Effectiveness so far: 9.0/10 Value for the price: 10.0/10 (seriously, it's a steal for a retinal serum) Here’s a link to the full ingredient breakdown if you're curious: Skinwise Analysis According to the analysis, here’s what you can expect: Improved texture & tone (4–12 weeks) Anti-aging effects (8–16 weeks) Hydration (immediate to 1 week) Brightening (4–8 weeks) Soothing/anti-inflammatory effects (immediate to 2 weeks) I'm only a few weeks in, but so far it's feeling really promising. If you’ve been retinol-curious but scared to level up to retinal, this could be a really good "training wheels" product. 🚲✨ Happy to answer any questions! 💬 Has anyone else tried this one? submitted by /u/Classic-Rice-1977 to r/AsianBeauty [link] [comments]

Review on Vitamin C Serums [COSRX, DearKlairs, Dr. Althea, Minimalist, & SeoulCeuticals]
Hello all! I recently commented on a post about vitamin C serums, and thought I'd put out a more thorough review of each product I've tried. I also want to preface this by saying everyone's skin is different, so what works for me may not work for you (and vice versa)! These are simply my personal experiences with the products below, and I hope you'll be able to find what products fits you best! Skin Type: Combination (oily T-zone, dry cheeks) Skin Concerns: Acne (menstrual/hormonal) scars, dullness, uneven texture, pigmentation from wrong usage of retinol, sunspots Climate: Dry and hot (western US) Testing Period: 3+ months (specifically for vitamin C serums, evening usage only) VITAMIN C SERUMS [COSRX] The Vitamin C 23% Serum - The more potent the solution, the more visible the result, right? Not necessarily in my case. It has a syrupy consistency, a stronger scent, and I didn't see any major improvements after two months of daily (evening only) usage. I would say that I could feel a slight tingly sensation after application, most likely from its strong potency. But then again, it just might be my skin that somehow doesn't mesh well with COSRX products. Be careful with application, as it does stain. (Bought from their website, tested in August 2022) [DearKlairs] Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop - Very mild, oily, and basic. Considering the 5% potency, I shouldn't have expected too much from it. So far, all DearKlairs products I've tried have been too thick and oily for me, up to the point of feeling like my pores are being clogged. However, this might be a good choice for those with sensitive and super dry skin! (Bought from Amazon, tested in September 2021) [Dr. Althea] Vitamin C Boosting Serum - My holy grail! I found out about this from _lilyis and I've never been happier to find a new product that actually works for me! It says it contains 20%, but did not give me any discomfort like the COSRX one. The serum is the most lightweight out of all vitamin C serums I've tried (more watery than syrupy, so faster absorption). It's not sticky after application, doesn't have a strong smell, and I can always see a difference after a few days of usage. It has brightened my complexion so much, I have not felt compelled to reach for any type of foundation or even BB cream for the past few months. Buying my third bottle soon! (Bought on YesStyle, tested in April 2024) [Minimalist] 10% Vitamin C Serum - The scent is not too overpowering, and like all Minimalist serums, it did not feel sticky or heavy after application, so the testing process was enjoyable. I actually went from COSRX's 23% to this 10% one. I don't know why I didn't try the 16% instead, but needless to say, I didn't see any noticeable results. Perhaps the 16% would have done better for me as a happy medium. (Bought on Amazon, tested in April 2023) [SeoulCeuticals] Daily Glow Serum - This is technically a "general" serum, but I'm putting it here because it contains 20% Vitamin C (along with hyaluronic acid, ferulic acid, and d-Alpha tocopherol/Vitamin E). The solution is more on the syrupy side, slightly oily but not as noticeable as DearKlairs. I I did see some minor improvements on fading pigmentation after about a month of usage, but it stopped there and did not continue to improve. Also note that the strong citrus smell lingers a bit after application. (Bought on Amazon, tested in March 2021) (Product reviews listed in alphabetical brand order) If this was helpful to anyone, perhaps I can also share reviews on other AB skincare products (cleansers, serums, moisturizers, etc.)? Edit: Added % to Dr. Althea. submitted by /u/EnchantressXII to r/AsianBeauty [link] [comments]

The Best & Worst Skincare Products (review)
Hi everyone! I posted this on another sub not too long ago and because of the positive reaction I wanted to share it with you all. Hope you like it. Little bit about me/my skin: Im 25F and I have sensitive, acne prone, combination skin. My skin is especially sensitive to fragrance, citrus and floral essential oils. Because of this I’ve become a bit of a skincare nerd and an obsessive ingredients list reader. I definitely still have a lot to learn about skincare but I hope this list helps some of you! Especially my fellow sensitive skin skincare addicts. I tried to keep the reviews very short and straight forward, but if you want me to expand on any products let me know! 1. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer 30 SPF - 3/10 Pros: Fragrance free and very moisturizing. Cons: Broke me out and burned my eyes Best for: dry skin. 2. Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser - 0/10 Pros: literally nothing. Cons: I don’t like the smell, it broke me out, didn’t remove my makeup well. 3. Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser - 6/10 Pros: Clean ingredients list. Cons: Stripping/drying and expensive. For who? Oily skin or those that like to feel squeaky clean. 4. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sunscreen 60 SPF (American) - 3/10 Pros: Doesn’t leave a white cast. Cons: Greasy, broke me out, stung my eyes. Bottom Line: Stick to the European version. 5. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sunscreen 50+ SPF (European) - 9/10 Pros: Doesn’t leave a white cast, reasonably priced. Cons: texture is a little too runny for my liking. Bonus: LRP donates to skin cancer research. 6. Jordan Samuel Hydrate Facial Serum - 0/10 Pros: Couldn’t try long enough to say. Cons: Gave me a bright red burning skin reaction. Bottom Line: Looks like they changed their formula (for good reason obvi) so I can’t speak for the new version. For who? Those who want an excuse to cancel dinner plans. 7. Mario Badescu Rose Facial Spray - 0/10 Pros: Cheap. Cons: Mist comes out too strong, I don’t like the smell, contains fragrance, citronellol, geraniol and colorants. Bottom Line: Thank goodness it was a gift, because I won’t be buying. 8. The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser - 5/10 Pros: Unscented, affordable. Cons: Made my skin itch and left a residue. Bottom Line: I won’t repurchase. 9. A313 Vitamin A Pommade - 10/10 Pros: My pimples reduced, skin texture improved (after two weeks). Thick vasaline texture that locks in the vitamin A. Cons: Slight metallic smell Bottom Line: Worth the hype! I use 2x a week max, alternating with a salicylic acid oil. 10. Youth to the People Superberry Dream Cleansing Balm - 3/10 Pros: Great ingredient list, interesting extracts. Cons: Smells like waxy crayons, crumbly texture that doesn’t melt well into the skin, left a waxy feeling behind. Bottom Line: I’ve tried better. 11. Tata Harper Water-Lock Moisturizer - 2/10 Pros: I liked her organic Vermont farm story and the light gel cream texture. Review Anua 10% niacinamide serum
Dosclaimer: I am not affiliated with the brand Anua in any way. I was not paid for a review or a promotion of this product. I purchased the product with my own money. I also do not have a signifficant online presence so I'm doing this in hopes of answering some questions for those who have them. For context, I've had nasty hormonal breakouts for years and they left some visible hyperpigmentation and texturing on my face that I just could not get rid of. I also have sensitive skin so retinols and vitamin c were out of the question, they made my face worse. Long story short: I love this stuff. I've been using it for around 3-4 weeks and I'm noticing a signifficant difference in my skin texture and discoloration. I never expect a product to actually work within 2 weeks (as many of them claim). Normally it takes the skin about 30 days to get used to and start reacting to a product so that's my benchmark regardless of what the product claims. I can say that this product meets the benchmark (and even exceeds a bit). I started noticing some real differences in my skin about a week or 2 ago so that really gives a window of about 2-3 weeks for the product to be effective which i was very surprised about. I use it in the morning right after washing and drying my face without applying toner beforehand and I recommend using it this way. It penetrates the skin better and has a higher chance of acting accordingly. Effects i've noticed: significant reduction in hyperpigmentation from acne scarring, reduction in texture from acne scarring, pore minimization, skin tightening, glowy skin. I've tried a bunch of serums for hyperpigmentation before this one and, at worst, they destroyed my skin barrier and broke me out or, at best, did nothing. This has honestly been a god sent and I fully recommend the product. It hasn't reacted badly with any of the products I use (granted I have a very minimal routine) and it hasn't irritated my face at all. Some things to keep in mind: this has 10% niacinamide and 4% tranexamic acid so it might be irritating to some skin types that are more sensitive. Niacinamide is recommended in percentages of around 5% to be effective so this might a bit much for some. It also contains 2% Arbutin which inhibits the enzyme necessary for melaning production which essentially means that it actively whitens your skin. I noticed this when i had to stop using my summer shade of foundation AFTER i started using this serum. I tan extremely easily and i get very dark. My tan also lasts around 7-8 months, but now i had to start using my winter shade in november when normally i could start using it around January or so. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just another thing i noticed with this product. I hope this helps anyone questioning the tiktok reviews (i did too, this was a huge leap of faith for me). submitted by /u/GoldieJoan to r/KoreanBeauty [link] [comments]

Best & Worst Skincare Products I’ve tried [review]
9. A313 Vitamin A Pommade - 10/10 Pros: My acne reduced, skin texture improved (after two weeks). There is a sunburn warning on the side of the box because it contains AHAs. 12. Saturday Skin Carrot + Niacinamide Moisturizing Cream - 6/10 Pros: Hydrating thick gel cream. Cons: Smells so strong of silicone. Bottom Line: Bought it in Europe, loved it. Bought it in the US, smelled like straight up silicone. Different formula maybe? 13. [Review] Inkey List 10% Azelaic Acid Serum
You guys. This serum changed my liiiifffeee. This is the best my skin has looked in years. I've been using the same routine for about 6 months, with 2 exceptions. Firstly, I started using a different sunscreen in February because my HG was reformulated into trash. This sunscreen is nothing special, it doesn't have treatments. It's just a good sensitive skin sunblock. And then, around the same time, I started using the azelaic acid from Inkey List to help with my rosacea redness. My skin's redness has disapated by 90%. Not only that, the stubborn and constant acne I had been fighting the Fall cleared up within 10 days. My skin is the smoothest and softest it has been since I was a child. My skin inflammation? Gone. Dryness? Don't know her. I cut out all other actives (including retinols and bha/ahas) except vitamin C. It was meant to be temporary (I was only using these things occasionally anyway, except retinol 2x a week) to see how my skin would react to the azelaic acid alone and y'all... I'm not going back. It's been about 6 weeks and I am SHOOK. I am also getting tons of compliments on my skin all of sudden. Have no cons really other than it dries down a little dry but goes away as soon as I moisturize. I highly recommend this product if you have mild to moderate cystic acne, skin inflammation, uneven skin texture, and persistent flushing and redness. Packaging is a basic black and white squeeze tube, does a great job not squeezing too much out, easy to use cream-like consistency. No detectable scent. submitted by /u/Ravioli_meatball19 to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

Skincare Advice for Men
What's up everyone. This has been a great subreddit to follow for fashion advice so I thought I'd contribute what I could as a dermatologist since I know that many of my friends view skincare as too complicated or cumbersome to worry about so they do nothing. There was a guide about 10 years ago that talked about some of these things but I think that this is a bit more comprehensive and aligned with the research and what I discuss with patients daily. I am a practicing dermatologist but I have to make it clear that this post is strictly for educational purposes and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It's also not intended to be a comprehensive review of the topic but I'm going to try to cover the big points. If you have any concerns or questions about your skin health, it's definitely best to see a dermatologist in person. These are going to be listed in descending order of importance. You can stop at any stage here and still see tangible benefits for your skin in my opinion. I'm also going to avoid listing specific products to avoid any appearance of conflicts. Make sure that you follow the instructions on the packaging of anything you start. 1. SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN I know you've heard this a million times but sunscreen is absolutely THE MOST important thing you can do for your skin. Even if you don't apply to your whole body, using an SPF 30+ sunscreen (for some people with pigmentary disorders like melasma, we will recommend 50+) on your face should be a minimum. Besides causing skin cancers, sunlight is the #1 factor causing aging of the skin (wrinkling, pigmentary changes, "sun spots"). For a really clear example of this, here is a photo of one-sided photoaging published in the New England Journal of Medicine in a truck driver (who gets sun on the left side of his face while working). Ideally, you would use a "physical" sunscreen that has zinc oxide or titanium dioxide but these can leave white streaks on the skin, especially for darker skin types. If you have this problem you can get "chemical" sunscreens that have compounds like avobenzone, octinoxate and oxybenzone. There are also a number of products that are 1/2 and 1/2 which leverage the advantages of both. Physical sunscreens work immediately while you want to apply chemical sunscreens ~30 minutes before you go out into the sun. https://preview.redd.it/qzji12hcmhra1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=fae4500f6f6ff33b2a72aaf4c06f4eb27fb58654 2. Nighttime retinoid Among all actives in skincare products, retinoids have by far the most demonstrated efficacy. These products are all derivatives of vitamin A. In addition to improving acne by shrinking sebaceous glands and reducing comedones (blackheads/whiteheads), retinoids significantly improve the appearance of the skin. They do this by increasing cell turnover and stimulating production of collagen/elastin (which increase firmness and general "youthfulness"). Almost all retinoids are inactivated by sunlight so the advice is to apply nightly to dry skin then moisturize. They can also be drying and make you more sun sensitive so using sunscreen and a facial moisturizer is important if you're using a retinoid. There are prescription retinoids such as tretinoin which you can get from your PCP or dermatologist as well as OTC products which use retinol (not as potent). 3. Moisturizer A lightweight non-comedogenic (look for that term on the bottle/box) moisturizer in the evening and morning is an important part of taking care of your skin. They help to lock in moisture and restore your skin's barrier, which can also decrease rashes if you're breaking out because of scratching dry skin causing a cycle of inflammation. 4. Topical vitamin C The last topical product I'll talk about with patients interested in a cosmetic skincare regimen is vitamin C. It has been shown to brighten skin and even skin tone as well as stimulate collagen synthesis but its number one effect is as an antioxidant. As an antioxidant it can help to neutralize free radicals generated by environmental exposures. It does break down when exposed to UV so you need to layer a sunscreen on top to make sure it has an effect. 5. Everything else As I alluded to earlier, the skincare market is vast and filled with different compounds and actives. Some have proven efficacy, many more do not. In the interest of keeping things simple, I'm sticking to the above for now since they have the most demonstrated efficacy, but if there's interest, I can do a follow-up post in the future. A simple regimen incorporating the above would be: Morning: gentle cleanser, vitamin C, moisturizer, sunscreen Night: gentle cleanser, retinoid, moisturizer Update First, thank you gentlemen for a Sunday reminder about the power of community. It's been beautiful to see the engagement and advice in the comments. I want to do an update for some of the common questions that came up: OK what do I absolutely have to do? If you're going to pick just one thing to use, put on a moisturizer with SPF 30+ before you go out in the morning. Trust me, I get it. In my younger years, I wasn't always consistent with this but it doesn't take much. Make it a part of your morning routine. It adds an extra few seconds but it's like brushing your teeth, and your younger, less wrinkled, and less prone to skin cancer future face will thank you. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Sunscreen? Do I have to? It's cloudy out. I recommend that everyone incorporate sunscreen to their morning routine. Like I wrote above. just like you brush your teeth, look at it as a thing you do every day and it becomes much less of a hassle. Yes its ideal to reapply every two hours and that is the American Academy of Dermatology's recommendation but don't make the perfect the enemy of the good. Use it every morning and if you can find a way to do it more frequently that's even better. Don't use the fact that you don't want to reapply as a reason to not do it at all. I'll avoid getting too far into the weeds of the science but sunlight has UVA AND UVB. UVB does peak at mid-day but UVA is constant ALL day. UV also penetrates clouds. So cloudy days aren't a free pass to skip your sunscreen. UVB is more responsible for sunburns and DNA damage leading to cancer while UVA is more responsible for photoaging and tanning but there is overlap there and UVA can cause skin cancer as well. SPF is actually just a measure of how protective sunscreen is against UVB but look for a BROAD-SPECTRUM sunscreen which means that it will protect against both. To protect against visible light which can worsen hyperpigmentation and some conditions like melasma, use a tinted sunscreen. The TLDR here is just use sunscreen every day before you go out. What order should I use the products? I'm not aware of any studies that look into this but what I generally advise patients is to apply any prescription medications to clean, dried skin first, then layer other products and finish with moisturizer and sunscreen. What specific products do you recommend? I wanted to not list specific products because I'm personally a bit suspect of posts that push brands or products but since it's been requested, I'll list as many as I can think of that I've used myself, my patients have reported good results from, or other dermatologists I know use. I'll focus on more affordable brands available in most stores that sell skincare products. A few that are pricier I'm mentioning mainly because of how many dermatologists I know use or recommend them. This is by no means an exhaustive list and I'm sure I will be leaving out some great products. Moisturizer La Roche-Posay face moisturizer - I personally like this one because it is hydrating but not too thick CeraVe PM facial moisturizing lotion Vanicream daily facial moisturizer Cetaphil daily oil-free moisturizing lotion Neutrogena Hydro Boost - This one's a love it or hate it. It has HA and is a gel rather than a lotion or cream so the texture is off-putting for some people while others love it. Sunscreen EltaMD Daily Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 - EltaMD is one of those brands that most dermatologist are familiar with for sunscreen and makes good products. They have a few different lines but this is a best seller. This one has physical and chemical sunscreen compounds. They also make a non-tinted version and other lines if it isn't for you. La Roche Posay Anthelios UV Correct - Friends of mine use this and they swear by it. It is a chemical sunscreen. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Tinted Sunscreen - Also a bit of a love it or hate it quality but for me rubs in very nicely and I like that it is a purely mineral sunscreen. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen - Some of my patients absolutely love this. It is a chemical sunscreen but they love the finish and feel of it. Others to look into: Cetaphil, CeraVe, TiZO (Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide sunscreens), Neutrogena Vitamin C Serums SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic - This is very expensive for a daily skincare product and I don't know how necessary it is to go to a product that is this pricy but it is a favorite among dermatologists for themselves and their patients so I felt that I had to include it in the list. Has vitamin E and ferulic acid which are antioxidants too. Be warned that it has an iron-like smell to it. Paula's Choice C15 Super Booster - Same ingredients as SkinCeuticals at a cheaper price. Haven't used it personally but have heard good experiences from others. Vichy LiftActiv Vitamin C serum - You'll see a trend here. This also has vitamin E and ferulic acid like the Paula's Choice and SkinCeuticals serums. Also more affordable than both of the above. La Roche-Posay Vitamin C Serum - Has a more gel-like quality than others but it is more affordable and still has 10% vitamin C. The Ordinary Ethylated Ascorbic Acid - I recommend this brand for many patients for a variety of OTC agents like azelaic acid too. In my experience, their products are effective and very cost-effective. A note about vitamin C products: minimize how long you leave the cap open and how much light exposure it gets because the ingredient is prone to oxidation and breakdown when exposed to air and light. They come in oilier serums instead of water-based vehicles because it also breaks down when mixed with water. Gentle Cleansers Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser - Great and affordable cleanser. CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser - Another affordable and effective cleanser. Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser - Also a great cleanser, good for those with sensitive skin. submitted by /u/mdskindoc to r/malefashionadvice [link] [comments]
