Help needed – don’t like my living room, no idea where to start
Hi all, I’m looking for some general advice on my living room because I feel completely stuck with it. I don’t really like how it looks or feels at the moment, but I also don’t know what specifically is wrong or how to improve it. I’m not confident with decorating at all, so I’m starting from scratch in terms of ideas. I’m not going for anything fancy or expensive – just want it to feel more comfortable and put together. If anyone has suggestions on how to approach a room like this (layout, colours, lighting, furniture placement, anything really), I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/Infinite-Paper-6773 to r/malelivingspace [link] [comments]

AITA for not allowing others to use “my office”
I (27F) rent a house with 2 other girls Tessa (26F) and Charlie (31F). It’s a 5 bed 3 bath with a finished basement, it’s in a pretty nice neighborhood and we got it for a steal so we’ve been here a couple years. Onto the issue, I work from home and Tessa has a hybrid schedule. When we all moved in Charlie wanted us to pay more rent since we would be setting up offices in the 2 spare rooms. The basement is finished so we offered for her to set up a space just for her down there, but she didn’t like the idea of being banished to the basement (her words). So Tessa and I both agreed to pay a little more rent. However, my condition was my office was not to be a shared space. Tessa didnt care about if other people use her room, but this pissed off Charlie. Charlie started arguing with me about what if she has guests and what if she needs to use an office space for something. Tessa tried to diffuse and said her office could be a mixed use room but that wasn’t good enough for Charlie. After a little back and forth she agreed to the terms and it wasn’t really brought up again for over a year. Well Charlie now has 2 friends coming in from Europe to stay for a couple weeks. She gave Tessa and me a heads up the other morning, fine with us we love having people come stay at the house sometimes too. She then slipped in that they’ll need to stay in both our offices since she doesn’t want them to have to put up with staying in the same room. I reminded her of my conditions of paying the extra rent and all hell broke loose. She called me self centered and a possessive weirdo and stormed off huffing. Even without the boundary, I can’t just give up my office for a couple weeks. I would have to move my whole set up to my bedroom, and I have a job that requires me to have multiple screens going with the type of work I do. Tessa is wanting to keep the peace and offered to help me set up something in my bedroom and that maybe I should just drop it. This is really the only issue we’ve ever had, it’s been a great roommate experience otherwise. That has me wondering if maybe I’m not being adaptable enough? So, AITA? Edit: okay I really didn’t think this was gonna be a popular post since it’s just a roommate squabble. Im seeing a lot of the same questions so: Total rent is 1800, Charlie pays 500, Tessa and I each pay 650. We split all utilities 3 ways except internet, Tessa and I split that since we need it to be high speed. The house is about 1600 sq ft without the basement, i cant remember the exact square footage of the basement. The offices are the smallest rooms, and I could technically move my desk into my bedroom. However moving my setup to the basement would take extra work as my desk wouldn’t fit down the stairs. Charlie does not want her guests in the basement because it’s not as nice as the rest of the house, and I think it might be because my office and Tessa’s offices are pretty cute, we’ve decorated them pretty well. submitted by /u/Past_Yak_9832 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

My [31M] husband’s friend sa’ed me [31F] How do I tell my husband?
I [31F] and my [31M] husband have been together for over 13 years and this incident happened during my birthday party. We converted our garage to a gaming/event room where we throw parties on multiple occasions and we even host DnD every Friday night with the same people who attended the party. There were about seven people there and only a handful of them were drinking heavily including me. This is a really complicated situation and I’m sorry in advance if I don’t make any sense. Towards the end of the night I was in a corner with the man who touched me ( we’ll call him Dustin) and his friend (we’ll call him Tim). I always dress up and wear costumes/sparkles for each themed event we host. Dustin randomly asked if he could use some of my sparkles, so I gave them the bottle not thinking much of it because he often does dress up when we throw parties that involve costumes. Tim held the bottle while he put sparkles on Dustin’s hand and then the next thing I know his hand is down the front of my shirt grabbing at my bare chest. Dustin then removed his hand from my top and looked at his friend Tim who then put more sparkles in his hand and again he forcefully put his hand back down my shirt. They tried doing it a third time before I realized what just happened (I was extremely drunk and my reaction response was non existent) and I began trying to get the F@$k away from them. As I was backing up out of the corner of the room, my husband returned from the bathroom. Just then Dustin grabbed the glitter bottle and started smearing glitter on everyone’s faces trying to make things look less suspicious in my opinion. I know this sounds ridiculous, I’m still in shock. I have no idea how to tell my husband because if I do tell him, obviously he’s going to explode. Then there goes his DnD group, because both Dustin and Tim are in it. All of our friends are friends with each other so this will spread like wildfire. I’m so scared of the repercussions this may cause for everyone. What if they accuse me of lying? Plus, I keep asking myself… there were other people in the room. How did no one else notice?? I know you may think wearing sparkles and dressing up as a 31 year old woman is childish or absurd but I go all out for my parties. I decorate, provide all the food and drinks, I thought I was providing something for these people to look forward to but now I feel like a fool. I also trusted Dustin, he’s never done anything like this before. How do I tell my Husband without him going nuclear? Sorry if I don’t respond, I’m not doing very well right now. A lot of things have happened in a short amount of time and this on top of everything else made life unbearable. submitted by /u/AdHairy6919 to r/relationship_advice [link] [comments]

[29M] Recently moved into this (literal) studio appartment that's built in a barn full of goats, but is also free of charge
So yeah, good opportunity to save and live the good life! Still in need of lots of stuff, plants and decor most of all, and a good rug. And I desperately need a new desk but this was already here and I can't get rid of it for now lmao Trying to go cozy boho and keeping a bit of a theme where the furniture is dark wood/light oak and then the accents and lighting are warm yellows and oranges. Most of the decor so far means a lot to me, from my favourite albums to family memories to some of my drawings. As I don't (plan to) see myself ending up with a lady in my life anytime soon I'm trying to make this a space just for me. I love cooking, I love music so those things take priority, hence the smaller bed and no massive TV. The couch is just there because it was already there, I hate it but it does hide the unpacked stuff nicely lmao It's taking some time getting used to the goat sounds, and there's also 2 airports relatively close, so it's pretty chaotic a lot of times, but also it's free and I can do what I want so 🤷 Next up is making it more cozy and decorated, expanding the studio and getting a new desk and sitting area. The sleeping area also desperately needs some love! Since it's on the top floor of the barn (there's 2 floors) I've named it "Penthouse Golden Goat" (but in old Dutch) Any more ideas? I'm open to anything! For those wondering about the smell I'll copy my comment from below: "Sometimes, unfortunately. The goats themselves smell okay (funnily enough they smell like how goats cheese tastes. I hope I didn't ruin it for you) But they clear out the gutters that collect their manure once a week so when the time comes there's a decently strong ammonia smell. But the owner has been working on making everything more smell proof. I also burn tons of incense and smoke loads of weed so I usually don't even notice because the room already smells very strong lmao" As for how I ended up here (record scratch): "Long story short, my parents are freelance farmers. Meaning, they run someone elses farm, but get to live there as well as get a salary. No living expenses etc. When a farmer wants to retire, doesn't have someone to take over the business and selling isn't worth it, they'll usually do an arrangement like this. Usually you'll get a house, but this time it was a little apartment building attached to the barns. I'd just moved back home after a breakup and was planning to move out again when they applied for this place. And with how fucked the housing market here is, this is an opportunity that's too good not to take. Unless I'd find a roommate (quite hard here) or get into another relationship (no thanks) renting a place would cost me half my income and buying isn't even an option. So yeah, I share a building with my parents, they live downstairs lmao. But we all have our own utilities and kitchen and bathrooms etc. So I technically live at home with mom and dad, but not really" submitted by /u/GinkgoForest420 to r/malelivingspace [link] [comments]

New lighting ideas for LR corner
I'd like to hang my new screen in this corner of our living room. It will be mounted on the wall, not sitting on the table as it is in this picture. The lamp that I've had on this round skirted table is obviously too tall now, but I can't picture what could work instead. Do you have ideas of what lighting and table decor would work?

Boyfriend picked this green for the bathroom… now I’m stuck
My boyfriend chose this green colour for our guest bathroom. I wasn't keen on it to begin with and now I'm struggling to find inspiration for decorating this room. At the moment, it looks like a dentist's toilet to me. I was thinking of colours like pink or yellow maybe? I'm excited to hear your ideas! submitted by /u/mono_mink to r/femalelivingspace [link] [comments]

Help me pick a paint colour! (Or sadly replace a rug)
Just moved into a new place and am desperately trying to figure out a way to keep the beautiful floral rug we picked out. We have a small (oddly shaped) living room which we were hoping to paint a dark cozy colour - ideally a dark sagey green. Seems we can’t find a way to tie in the couch, the rug, and our ideal wall colour. Open to ideas to replace the rug or for any other decorations. Please ignore the random AI generated decorations, can’t seem to control them haha submitted by /u/Pupsallday to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

In my spare time, I'm working on a mapmaking tool
Hi everyone! In my spare time, I'm working on a minimalistic mapmaking tool called Canvas of Kings, that focuses on randomness and auto-generated elements on user-definable and interactive paths, plots and rooms. Over time, I've implemented many great ideas from the community, such as Steam Workshop support for custom assets and maps, asset editor, flexible hex/square grid, text labels, multi-image export, spectator window, and more. With the latest update, I have added the option to place plots with auto-generated roads, buildings and decorations. No AI is used. I draw the textures by hand with pen and paper and use the Godot engine for programming. You may use the maps you create commercially, e.g., sell them or use them in your book. You do not need permission or an additional license. Feel free to take a look and try out the demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2498570/Canvas_of_Kings/ Thank you very much! I look forward to your feedback! :) Many thanks to the mods for their approval! Best regards, Hannes submitted by /u/mightofmerchants to r/worldbuilding [link] [comments]

Looking for ideas to finish this living room
Hi everyone, We recently moved into a new house and bought a new sofa for the living room. I’d love some suggestions on how to make the space feel more put together and inviting. The sofa is the first big piece we’ve added, and now I’m trying to figure out what else the room might need. Would appreciate ideas on things like layout, colors, decor, or any small changes that could make the room feel more balanced and complete. Sharing some pictures below for context. Thanks in advance for your thoughts! submitted by /u/Commercial-Switch849 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

Title: Just Moved Into My New Loft – Looking for Cozy Vibes & Gamer/Sports-Themed Ideas! Hey Reddit! I just moved into my new loft apartment, and while I’m absolutely loving the open space and high ceilings, it feels a bit empty and needs that cozy, welcoming touch. I’m a huge gamer and sports fanatic, so I’d love to incorporate those passions into the decor. I’m reaching out for some feedback and ideas: Gaming Setup: How can I make my gaming area both functional and a statement piece? RGB lighting? Wall art? Display shelves for collectibles? Sports Vibes: Any creative ways to showcase my favorite teams without making it look like a college dorm room? Framed jerseys? Vintage memorabilia? submitted by /u/nerdx_inked to r/malelivingspace [link] [comments]

AITA for putting more effort into decorating my son's room than my stepdaughter's?
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/ImpossibleScallion12 Originally posted to r/AmItheAsshole AITA for putting more effort into decorating my son's room than my stepdaughter's? Thanks to u/theboringhistoryfan for suggesting this BoRU Trigger Warnings: unequal treatment, possible neglect, possible deadbeat parenting Mood Spoilers: positive Original Post: July 17, 2025 I (40F) have been with my husband (43M) for several years. He has a daughter (13F) from a previous relationship. When we started dating and I was introduced to her, he made it very clear that she already had parents and didn’t need another one—what she needed was an advocate and mentor. I was absolutely fine with that and have always tried to respect those boundaries. For the most part, our relationship is good. She’s a great kid. Now, we also have a son together (3M). He’s my first and only biological child, and I had wanted him for a very long time. Here’s the issue: I had a very specific vision for my son’s room that I’d planned well in advance. I painted two ombre walls that go from grass green to sky blue and transition into a dusty blue ceiling covered in glow-in-the-dark stars. His ceiling light has a sun-shaped lampshade, and his nightlight is a moon. He has a Montessori-style floor bed designed to look like a tent, a grassy rug, a ball pit that looks like a pool, tree trunk–shaped toy chests that double as chairs and a table, and a tree-shaped bookshelf. I paid for all of this myself. When it came to my stepdaughter’s room, we asked her what she wanted. She said she wanted a reading nook, so we created one with a small round mattress, a ton of cushions in her favorite colors, and a mosquito net canopy. She chose her wall colors (solid block shades), and we did the room together. We split the cost 50/50. The rest of the furniture in her room was purchased by my husband before I came into the picture, and he doesn’t see any point in replacing it since it’s still in good condition. As a result, I didn’t have much say in that space. Recently, after seeing my son’s room fully set up, my stepdaughter got upset. She said I clearly put way more effort into his space than hers and accused me of playing favorites because he's “actually mine.” I tried to explain that I didn’t want to overstep when it came to her room and that she made most of the choices herself. But now she feels hurt and like I don't care as much about her. I do feel guilty because I can see how, from her perspective, it looks unfair. But I also don’t know how to navigate doing more without violating the boundaries my husband and I set early on. I’m not her parent, and I didn’t want to push decisions onto her room. At the same time, I now wonder if I should have tried harder or been more involved. So Reddit… AITA? Verdict: Not the Asshole Relevant Comments Downvoted Commenter: YTA for splitting the cost with a 13 y/o. OOP: I split 50/50 with my husband she's a bit young yet for an income of her own. Commenter 1: INFO: Why did you have to pay for 75% of the room decor and your husband paid for only 25%? Especially considering that your husband was the father of both children while you are only mother OOP: I chose to foot the bill for my boys' room because I earn a bit more than my husband and my play money is more. I also chose every element in his room so I paid what I was comfortable with. The concept was that it stayed as a campsite but as his interests changed the elements would change so if he liked dinosaurs it'd become a palaeontology camp. I paid 50% because I wanted the cushions to be nicer good-quality cushions that were comfortable and squishy Her dad isn't great at girls' stuff and is used to being very frugal due to only having one income. I at least got to go through Pinterest with her and decide what kind of nook she wanted. + I'm also just the type of person who will get an idea and immediately act on it. Waiting for 50% of the funds just seemed tedious when I have the means to just do it. Commenter 2: Dad is the one who said the furniture didn't need to be updated. You need to talk to him about this and tell him exactly what she said. Your sons room sounds like a dream, just needs dinosaur toys out the pooper imo, so I can totally understand her being this upset. Hopefully dad will update her furniture, or let you work your magic on your own. Then, ikea date!!!! We hope, poor kid. She should also have at least one dinosaur OOP: Dinosaurs were kind of the idea If he likes Dinosaurs then it becomes a palaeontology camp, or if he likes Pokémon, it becomes a Pokémon camp. The room can adapt to his interests. Commenter 3: Um, why did your husband not contribute to your son's room but you had to go in on his daughters room? OOP (downvoted): I chose to it gave me full freedom without compromise and I earn more than my husband so I don't mind paying extra it's how we keep things financially balanced.   Update (in the comments): July 20, 2025 (three days later) So, about three people asked for an update. So here's an update. To clarify: I paid for my son’s room because I had a clear vision and didn’t want to compromise. I would've done the same for my stepdaughter, but her room was more of a shared project. My husband is an amazing and super engaged dad. He just comes from a different mindset—some people are savers, some are spenders. He’s the former, I’m the latter, and honestly, it works for us. He’s still getting used to the idea that we can spend money just to make life nicer. My stepdaughter ended up apologizing. She said, coming back from her mum’s (where she shares a room) and seeing her little brother’s room made her feel left out. It feels like he always gets the “cool stuff”and even his daycare is better equipped than hers was. he won’t have to deal with bouncing between homes like she does. She knows it’s not about love, and she adores her brother, but she gets a little jealous sometimes. She still likes her room—especially the nook—but wanted it to feel more hers. We picked out a pastel sunset mural, and we’re adding a dance corner with a barre and mirrors, plus lights and drapes around her bed to cozy it up. She’s really excited now. Relevant / Top Comments Commenter 1: Thanks for the update! I was a bit worried about your relationship (with stepdaughter). Unfair about her blaming only you but she apologized, good! You sound amazing! I'm a little jealous with how you did your son's room, such creativity! Commenter 2: As a stepmom to girls I totally get the "can't win" scenario you're in. I'm glad she could see it for what it was and you could work together to make her room what she loves. OOP: She really is an awesome kid. Commenter 3: That's an awesome update. I was hoping more personal touches would be added to her room, hopefully that'll really help. It sounds like your step daughter is a really good kid that she was able to apologize and recognize all that. It may be time to reevaluate your role in your step daughter's life. If your step daughter wants you to have a more involved role, it sounds like you should.   DO NOT COMMENT IN LINKED POSTS OR MESSAGE OOPs – BoRU Rule #7 THIS IS A REPOST SUB - I AM NOT OOP submitted by /u/Choice_Evidence1983 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

Any decor ideas for my (26M) bedroom?
I'm new to interior design–I didn't have the headspace or money to focus on it initially, but I now realize how important it is for my day-to-day mood and would like to decorate my walls and bedroom to bring a little more color into the room. I thinking about replacing the TV, stand, and lamps with MCM-leaning options and am getting a white Eames lounge chair and ottoman in the corner next to the window/TV. Also will get rid of the striped duvet cover and gray curtains once I have more ideas on accent colors :) My current room feels quite locked into the black and gray theme with the choice of bed/nightstands, and any new pieces I think of adding end up contributing more to this fatigue (see below). Any thoughts on what else I can do to add more color to my bedroom? Lastly, any thoughts on decorating with hobbies and passions in mind? I am into cars, coffee, tennis, and DJing. I don't need every piece I decorate my room with to fit that mold, but I do wonder how y'all like to balance decor like the Porsche metal art (last picture) with more traditional framed art. Read some older posts and saw there’s definitely a way to go overboard with this especially with partners in the mix–but this room is just for me at the moment lol submitted by /u/FoundationTimely5955 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

AITA because I refused to help my step-sister decorate her room?
Both my step-sister and I are 15, we're moving into a new house and my dad said we could decorate the rooms whoever we liked it. My step-sister (whom I'll call Jessi for the sake of the post) got the biggest room and while I was okay with that at first, she started to throw it to my face and make snarky remarks about how ''she's the favorite'', which made me mad. My room is 3/4 of hers and has no built in closet, so I was struggling to get a bed and a desk there without making it look cramped while also putting the bigass closet my dad got me. It looked awful. I told my boyfriend how ugly it looked and his dad happened to be nearby and head us so he asked me to see it. I showed him some pics, some ideas I had and he made me a loft bed with a desk build in that ended with a cute closet space big enough for my things, since the loft bed saved me a lot of space, I was able to get some small couches and now my room is really comfy and pretty, I even have a folding table up in my bad for when I'm reading or working and since I have the long wall in front of me, my mom gave a projector so I can watch movies. My dad wasn't really involved in the process and just said whatever while paying my bf's dad for what he did to me and that was it. I won't lie, now that I was able to put some decorations and paint the walls my room looks like those you see on Pinterest. My boyfriend even made me a small matching bed for my pet and it's cute. Now, my step-sister doesn't like it because even when she has the biggest room it's like a regular boring room and asked if I could help her decorate since she liked how my room turned out, I said no because I was busy with coming back to school and everything but it was a lie, I just don't want to help her because she was really mean to me and I kinda don't want two rooms looking alike. She complained to her mom, her mom tried to made me, my dad stopped them and I was called an AH, so I was wondering. submitted by /u/AITA_889578 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Made a church for Willow Creek. The idea is that you switch out the fake tombstones for real ones as your sims die, and you can decorate the graves as you wish. There´s also a mausoleum, if you prefer urns or want to decorate a whole room to your dearly departed. Hope you like it!
