HELP: My aunt owes Royal Caribbean $6k for a cruise she never took due to the weather
EDIT: Here’s my aunt’s cruise info. honestly at this point, my aunt wants to see if she can find anybody who was on the same trip who can corroborate what she said. if anyone was aboard, please let me know! arsenal time: August 21, 2025 1:30-2:00pm port: Cape Liberty ship: Liberty of the Sea —————————————————————————- hi y'all! i'm really making this post on behalf of my aunt (70). in august of 2025, my mother and aunt were set to sail to the bahamas just a few days after hurricane erin had passed thru the mid atlantic. Because waters were really rough, Royal Caribbean had to be docked at the Jersey City port for an extra day and the major location, the bahamas, was completely omitted from the entire cruise route. while aboard the ship, RC gave passengers a choice: stay aboard with these tweaks and receive a $200 credit OR you can de-board and receive a full refund. My aunt and mother chose the latter as they paid about $6000 for their tickets combined and a $200 credit with limited stops didn't seem worth it. They de-boarded and awaited their refund however it never came. When my aunt reached out to RC to follow up, they told her because she didn't have it in writing that they could not grant her a refund and ultimately labeled my mother and aunt as no-shows for their cruise even though they were fully checked in. My aunt has reached out to RC corporate and even a news outlet in New Jersey to help probe deeper but she keeps hearing the same thing. My aunt was able to receive a temporary credit from her bank when she disputed the charge however after the investigation, her bank sided with RC. Now my aunt is paying that $6k back to her bank with interest all for a cruise she never took 🫤 my aunt is a real honest and hard working woman and wouldn't try to get over an anyone or company. i just want to help get her and my mom's money back. has anyone ever dealt with something like this before? how does RC normally handle refunds due to the weather? any advice is much appreciated! submitted by /u/aiviloselim to r/Cruise [link] [comments]

Mestastic on Family Cruise - Worked Great for Family of 4 - Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas
TLDR: Took a Meshtastic setup on a family cruise to keep connected -- Saved a 'boatload' of money and my wife keeps praising me for how well it worked! Full Story: The price for being able to have communication for my family of four an upcoming Royal Caribbean cruise seemed ridiculous. $27/person/day. 4 persons * 8 days * $27/person/day = $864 (before taxes/fees/etc) I was a bit worried since the Harmony of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships in the world and it's a giant collection of metal boxes. I knew we needed to carry around our "Sea Pass", so I figured sticking a node to the back of everyone's lanyard might be feasible. I'd recently heard really good things about the WisMesh Tag and the form factor was perfect. To boost the mesh, I set up the WisMesh Pocket with the Gooseneck Tactical Antenna as a base station in my room, which luckily was a balcony room, on the INSIDE section of the ship (see picture). That was ideal since it had easier access to the floors below and above. Sometimes the room steward would unplug the WisMesh Pocket, but since it has a strong battery, that didn't cause any issues. We set up a FamilyComms channel, and used that exclusively for communication. When a message is received, each WisMesh Tag would beep for 1 minute, so you didn't have to constantly have your phone on you. The IP66 rating ensured we were safe from most water activities. Since GPS was not helpful at sea, I turned that off on all of the WisMesh Tags when we were on the ship (super easy by pressing the button 3 times). This was also a great way to save battery. When disembarking the ship at the various ports we re-enabled GPS (again, pressing the user button 3 times). We had almost no problems staying connected. I only had one message fail to send, and it was a Direct Message to my wife, which I could see immediately and simply resend. I was a bit worried that the learning curve might be too much for my 10 year old, but it wasn't an issue. Basics - $325 (before tax) (1) WisMesh Pocket (1) Meshtastic Gooseneck Tactical Antenna (4) WisMesh Tag Extras - $93 (before tax) (4) Cruise Ship Lanyards (1) Roll of Double Sided Tape (3M VHB) (4) 3D Printed ID Holders (probably was overkill?) (1) 6 Port Anker Charger (2) USB-C to A adapters Total cost: $418 (before tax) The last bit I'd leave you with: This activity really intrigued my 10 year old son, and he is now nerding out with me using Meshtastic. He LOVES tinkering with the WisMesh Tag node and the entire Meshtastic hobby has become a great excuse for us to spend time together. submitted by /u/PoweredParaGuy to r/meshtastic [link] [comments]

What happened to Royal Caribbean?
I went on a bunch of Royal Caribbean cruises back in the day and didn’t really have any complaints. Then I went on one recently and I have some major concerns. -The food was terrible. Even the bacon was bad, the hash browns were bad. The spaghetti tasted like it had cinnamon in the sauce. I heard a lot of people complain and a few people said they would never go on RC again. I agree. I ate at the speciality restaurants and they were good. This just indicates they know what good food is and are serving terrible food. -The bed and pillows were terribly uncomfortable. I was in a balcony room. -Getting drinks was a slow nightmare. I just wanted canned drinks but lots of people were ordering frozen drinks and they made every single one individually and they had no pre made frozen drinks or machine. It was so slow. I also wanted to bring drinks to my room to just relax and it was very difficult to get more than a couple drinks to bring back. I had the unlimited drinks package. -The Tv channels were seriously lacking. I just wanted to relax in my room sometimes and there was nothing to watch on TV. I even had the Internet package but it was too slow to stream content. Maybe cruises just aren’t for me. submitted by /u/Mysterious_Reality_ to r/royalcaribbean [link] [comments]

My perspective “Amy Bradley is missing” documentary as a ex royal Caribbean employee
I watched the documentary as few days ago. first of all I had cold shivers and strange physical reaction while watching it that has never happened while watching a documentary before. After watched the whole thing- logically I do think that she most likely committed suicide. she was heartbroken and her family do come across as homophobic . They are probably in deep in denial about how they treated her for being gay. She was drinking and smoking a lot, which to me sounds like she was struggling. I’ve been depressed myself, and people never believed me as I “looked happy”. That’s being said, since I have worked on Cruise ships I have a few queries; 🛑 The ships gangway was opened at 7am, that means that the ship would have docked an hour before. It takes an hour to get clearance from port authorities . And an hour before, the ship would be sailing very slowly and in shallow waters. It’s very likely her body would have been found, if she had jumped at 5am.From a scientific point of view- I would need more facts. How likely would it be to find a dead body that close to shore?! 🛑 I know it was the 90s but now we can make a few different type announcements- one is an announcement that can only reach the passenger areas but not their state rooms, it’s only in emergencies that they make announcements that go into the passenger cabins . So they could have made announcement without waking the passengers up but allowing the ship to be aware. 🛑 the royal Caribbean have made things difficult for themselves because they cleaned the cabin. Lots of people say that she was an adult and therefore it shouldn’t have mattered that she had been missing for a short time but she was a young woman and therefore was vulnerable! I don’t think they should have let the passengers off the ship. 🛑 they have officers on watch 24/7. Why didn’t anyone see her fall from the ship? 🛑 I don’t think the crew were involved. I can sense vibes from people. I didn’t get a bad vibe from Yellow. I did get a bad vibe from the witness that said she saw Amy with him. If you think the crew were involved, after they work 10-14 hours every day to make the passengers have a good vacation. Maybe tip them if you really think they need the money that much. When would they really have the time? And they make good money for their home countries. Most of the them or scared to lose their jobs over a simple mistake. 🛑 yes the cruise director was cold but you have to understand his job, we had to suppress our emotions and put on a “happy face” no matter what doing that job. I even got 2 warnings while at work for “not looking happy enough”. Also, these types do seem to climb to the top because of these narcissistic traits. Everyone wants to be a cruise director and a lot of them get there by throwing their colleagues under the bus. 🛑 the royal Caribbean do ignore reports of bullying. We had an anonymous hot line to report wrong doings and these would get ignored or the person reporting would get sent home. I saw the whole shop team leave because of management and then she got a promotion. I then saw the same thing happen in the entertainment team. it’s profit over people so I’m glad it’s getting media attention. Overall, I don’t have enough information about this, none of us do. And I believe there’s a lot of facts missing or things have been twisted. I don’t think we will ever know what happened. submitted by /u/LycheeSilent4571 to r/NetflixDocumentaries [link] [comments]
