Anyone have recommendations for some decent looking safety glasses for construction executives? My exec team loves their nice, name brand sunglasses as most people do but obviously those aren’t ANSI Z87 rated. Trying to find something they’d actually be willing to wear on site that still looks solid and not the typical cheap safety glasses. Ideally something that has a stylish look, ANSI Z87 or Z87+ rated and slight tint or indoor/outdoor versatility. Curious what people have had success with. So recently I have started needing to wear a dust mask with my safety glasses which has made them fog up a lot and blind me while I'm working. Additionally I've been seeing those videos of angle grinder blades stopping millimetres away from people's eyes and was concerned with how mine may hold up. Just want to say thanks to the folks at Milwaukee for making good safety glasses. Long story short, while doing some equipment work, I was hit in the face by a 4x4 fence post at an extremely high speed. As you can see front the impact on the lens, it would have certainly taken out my eye, but instead only resulted in 4 stitches and a black eye. I'm planning to get safety glasses with a prescription and am unsure about what types are best for machinists. I will be using both CNC and manual machines. I heard some machinists say the glasses with gaskets are preferred as they prevent chips from entering the eye, but I'm not sure if that is overkill or not. Would y'all recommend safety glasses that wrap around/have gaskets or plain side covers, like the second image, will be fine? I make beds and clean toilets. Apparently my coworkers are so dumb that they keep spraying themselves in the eyes with cleaning chemicals, so now everyone needs PPE to fucking make beds lmao. We got a big box of stupid ass glasses and googles to pick out from and I asked my boss if I was allowed to customize them. She gave me the okay.. and also severely fucked up by doing so. I took the flimsy ass plastic that comes from the disposable hospital PPE glasses and glued them onto my light blocking ones, then covered the frames with googly eyes and covered the nose piece with a super soft piece of yarn that I turned into a caterpillar. The narrative that has seemed the truest to me all my life, as a kid born in 1990, is that before Columbine, school shootings may have occurred but were much more rare with far less fatalities. Then Columbine happened and the problem seemed to explode. As a kid in elementary school and even into middle school, I never feared school shootings. The only drills I remember participating in were tornado and fire drills. We weren't taught what to do in face of a gunman loose on school grounds. We didn't go to school wondering if today would be the day our school ends up in the news. However, I've also heard arguments that school shootings were a problem before Columbine, and I must take into account the fact that I was a relatively small child during that time period and my memories may simply be uninformed and inaccurate So I guess my question is, am I remembering the 90s and early 2000s with the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia? So I recently had a piece of metal removed from my eye despite wearing safety glasses. I was drilling over head so I don’t know if it just dropped in just right and rolled in under them or if maybe it was caught in my hair and was knocked in when I was taking the glasses on or off. Eye doctor says I will have no permanent damage to my eye which is nice but I would like to avoid any future incidents. So what style or brand do y’all prefer?
